Vesresh

AND THEN THE BROWN CAME AND ATTACKED HIS SISTER. He cringed against Vesin, terrified, and when violence was not forthcoming, he watched, confused and relieved, as Vosin arrived. “Vos...” he murmured, holding out his hand for her again, “You're all right...”

Mazaah (Concept Entry)

Things were starting to heat up for Maz. She peered out over the fighting greens, wondering if they'd ever stop fighting...

Its shell broken without ceremony - indeed, entirely by accident - the Seeking dragon whose egg had been collateral damage in the fight shoved the Charging green away with an indignant snarl, allowing the crowd a glimpse of it at last. It was a black, who panted heavily with the effort he had expended to push his clutchmate off of himself. He made no move to stand, wise enough to take the time to at least try to catch his breath. What didn't require any effort, however, was the withering glare he focused on the greens responsible for breaking his egg.

The slender Crystallized green stood calm amidst the chaos, giving voice to a soft thrum directed at her squabbling sisters. So much fuss! So much mess! Of all the things in the world that were worth fighting for, why were they spending their ichor on this?

Between the glare of the black and the gently-given advice of the other green, Shrieking and Charging were convinced to cease their quarrel. The looks they gave each other made it clear that this war was far from over, but they would each deign to put it on hold. For now. They both strode towards the candidates, shouldering into each other until their paths separated to take them to their chosen.

Finally, the greens had ceased their quarelling, and had separated slightly to go up to Vee and Jameson. Something told her that it was far from over between the pair however. As she looked at the sands, her eyes passing on the black dragonet with a painful squeeze in her heart she murmured something akin to sadness. It was difficult for the atypicals, she was sure.

Vesin smiled at those around her and hugged closer to Esre. She was glad that the accidental cracking of an egg led to the hatching of an atypical who convinced the greens to stop their fighting and ended up leading them to impress! Finally! She craned her neck at the pretty black and then looked all around to find out where the pretty gold had went. Had she finally went over to the girls to find hers?

And Lucayr heaved another sigh, this time with relief. The two greens had Impressed and parted ways, at least for now. He turned his gaze to the newest hatchling. An atypical. Those were attention-getters, too. And more difficult to care for, or so he'd heard. But what demands on his time were there, except for his daily teaching ballads to the crechelings, which would be taken over by one of the several other capable harpers here if he Impressed.

...?

...!!!

Vee stared at the approaching green, stained in ichor and suddenly more glorious than anything she'd ever seen. Shoulders squaring she strode forward to meet her partner but much as she tried to look all serious and dignified she couldn't help the stupid grin on her face and when she met the green she dropped to her knees and pressed her face to the hatchling's, placing one hand on each side of her face. "Baeveth! You're perfect!"

the battered green agreed with a mental smirk, nudging and licking Vee's face before pulling back. she continued, getting to her feet and turning away from her chosen rider,

"Right!" Vee scrambled upright and swiped an arm across her face, totally wiping away sweat not tears of joy that she simply couldn't contain. Baeveth. Baeveth! She understood now what they meant when they said a dragon completed you; it was, it was, it was perfect! She wished she had the words of a harper to say it better but for now perfect would have to do. Wiping her eyes again Vee strode proudly towards the healers, her comrade in arms trotting along beside her with just a slight hitch to her stride.

Hey! Hey! Don't you dare go anywhere! If her mouth hadn't been full of fabric, the Invasive green would have bleated her displeasure at Jamarin, but the problem solved itself when the boy tripped and fell. Not only did it solve the problem, it also made things much easier! Trilling happily, the hatchling used her sharp little claws to slit Jamarin's pants from waist to knee on one leg while he was staring at his brother.

The gold, in the meantime, finally found exactly what she was looking for. She stopped in front of Maldryk, and after looking him up and down and up again, warbled a greeting and bumped her head against him like a cat demanding to be petted.

With the warring pair safely Impressed, the Crystallized green moved to nose at the Seeking black, who rebuffed her with a snort and heaved himself to his feet with great effort. He regarded the gathered candidates only briefly before dismissing them all with a shake of his head. He scanned the Stands with narrowed eyes, searching with his mind as quickly as he could while still being thorough, keenly aware that he did not have time to waste. Fate was with him. Up there, in the Stands, he found what the youths on the Sands lacked.

"Spitting image!" Kylerr said to Zen. "And he's gonna be fine, I think... He looked pretty bad, but he at least stood up for a while. Still seemed spirited. It looked like there might be more blood than actual damage, but I guess we'll see..."

He turned to Vos. "I'll be fine. It's really nothing. At least I've still got my pants!"

The loud CRACK from the remaining eggs caused him to snap his attention back to the clutch. Two more dragons... and a black one! Things were certainly getting interesting... especially once the Crystallized Green set the fighting pair to calming... and Impressing?!

The black made decisive work of his own, leaving the Crystallized and Invasive Greens, the Blue, and the Gold. All calm. Well, either that or rambunctious! Kylerr allowed himself a deep breath to collect himself with the din of the hatching quieted. For now, he reminded himself.

Vosin

The teen snickered as Zen egged the boy on too. It looked like he really didn't want to loose his pants. "Who do you think will win the tug-o-war this time?" She asked those standing around her. "An Eighth of a mark on the green." The redhead glanced at her twin to see if she'd join the fun.

She also kept an ear open for the response on Kylerr's friend. He had gone off with a dragon hadn't he? She was pleased to hear the boy was ok and nodded. "Alright, you need something tell me." Vos patted Esre's should and took his hand. "See? I'm fine." She smiled.

Then something seemed to calm the waters a bit and the two fighting greens split and went toward people. Her eyes widened as she saw one green head to Vee. Ah well, there went her idea the gold wanted her. Vos gave a short whistle and thumbs up to the older girl for her congrats.

"Ves can you see what happened with that egg? How many do we have left?" She loved being in the middle of a group. All the people around her. Unfortunately that sometimes meant her view of things was somewhat hindered. Not that Vos was concerned. Things would sort themselves out.

Umm...what? Maldryk stared at the young metallic as she looked him over, completely and utterly at a loss as to what she could possibly want from him. She was a Queen. He was a guy who liked girls. Exclusively. So why the shaff was she staring at him? His bewilderment only grew when she stepped in and butted her head against him. He froze and stared down at her with a priceless expression of utterly terrified confusion.

Why was the gold fixated on him, of all candidates? This was ridiculous! What would people think? What were you supposed to say to a dragonet that was rubbing against you for no apparent reason? "Can I, uh...help you...?"

"Let's hope that's the case then. Either way looks like he got himself a good partner!" Zen clapped Kylerr on the back. The time between the cracking of the Seeking Egg and the little black's Impression was just small enough for Zen to gain a flicker of hope before it sputtered out. If those rainbow eyes were meant for her she would have felt something. It surprised her how excited she'd got over an atypical though. Not that they were any lesser, but well, the heart knew what it wanted. Or he was just a really interesting looking dragon with that skull-like head.

"Hah! A quarter-mark he looses more than his pants!" Zen upped Vosin's bet with immediate enthusiasm. "There's still a lot unhatched..." Zen stood on her toes, taking advantage of her own height to see over the other candidates.

Vesin rolled her eyes at her sisters betting. She felt bad for the poor kid getting his pants taken by a dragonet. "Definitely the green." She added in. She wasn't willing to place money on it, however, she'd let her sister do that part. She smiled to Kylerr as he called her the spitting image. They did have different hairstyles at least! Ves was so happy that dragons were finally starting to impress, but it did make her wonder if she and her siblings were going to. It wasn't until Zen said that there was a bunch still left unhatched that she nodded. There was, so maybe their dragons were still in there!

Zen meant the dragon, right? Kylerr was glad it was the middle of the night, and hoped the color he most certainly felt like he was turning wasn't visible to the jocular girl. He liked it, though. She was very up-front, and there was something warm about that. He just hoped that Fadrin wouldn't have his own eye for ribbing later on. "Yeah, his dragon is beautiful," he said back, a little sheepishly.

He laughed at the betting, but started feeling bad for the boy and his compromised pants. Kylerr wondered... was his tunic long enough? Or did he really need his tunic? Some cover for the poor guy would be nice just in case...

Kalendol's hazel eyes searched the terrain of the sands before she slowly evacuated to the far corner and back of the group of avid candidates. The action was somewhat slower than before. But she felt a slight need for being alone. So here she sat watching the sands for signs.

While most seemed amused with the pantsing antics of the Invasive green, there was at least one besides Jamarin who disapproved. The Guiding blue, while he had tolerated the violent conflict of Baeveth and Karath, was apparently less inclined to tolerate the forcible removal of someone's pants. The mottled hatchling left Bandhidheth's side to stride slowly but purposefully across the sands, sounding disapproval as he went.

The Invasive green looked up and warbled back, complaining. Couldn't he see that she was in the middle of something here? She didn't have time for trivial interruptions like this! Nonetheless, Guiding's intervention would buy Jamarin time to escape with his pants (more or less).

The gold, undeterred by his obvious discomfort, twined herself around Maldryk and hummed. As she did so, her eyes whirled a rainbow of colors. Was it...no. It couldn't be!

No, really, it could not. It was not the young man who would hear the shameless Queen's voice in their head.
