Connor grinned when Rowan mentioned that Abaddon was in as good a mood as usual. He pondered the snake in question, knowing the creature didn't always seem to like him. "Well, I'm glad she's doing alright." He nodded, tilting his head back and forth, attempting to gather exacts about where the girl was. When he heard the door open, the teen perked up, his hand dropping down away from Rowan. At the girl's next words, Connor tensed, his cheeks heating rapidly. He fumbled with his cane, sliding it together, then clipping it to his belt loop. With his head bowed, Connor nodded a bit when Rowan mentioned his name to her mother.
When he heard a sinister hissing, the boy tilted his head up, noting that the sound wasn't from Rowan. No, it was far more harsh, coupled with the fact that Rowan soon told her mother to speak where they all could understand. As the older woman spit off insults, Connor felt his cheeks, ears, and neck heat up. He bit his bottom lip, trying not to be hurt by the words. At the drop of a hat, the younger girl promptly spoke up, defending her sisters and other family members, before finally defending him. He normally wouldn't ever step up to someone, particularly an adult, but in this case, Connor took a step closer, gently resting his hand on what he presumed was his friend's shoulder. "Missus Yaxley? I-I just wanted to thank you. It wasn't until I heard you hiss your insults that I realized just how well-adjusted your daughter is. Not only that, but how well I was raised... as a muggleborn, that is." His shoulders were pushed back, the Ravenclaw doing his best to stand tall and appear brave. Unfortunately, Connor didn't exactly know how to look brave, but he knew how to sound brave... which he was pretty sure he did.
The boy stood his ground for a second...... until he realized what he had said. After all, his moment of bravado was simply a facade. All of a sudden, he felt the bile rise up in his throat, his cheeks and ears heated up rapidly. He coughed quietly, wishing above all else that he had his brother beside him to defend him. Colton always knew how to talk to people, where the younger twin had always been a wallflower. Their mom had always told them younger siblings tended to be quieter, but Connor attributed it all to his being blind. It was hard to make friends when he couldn't see anything, but Rowan had accepted him right away. For that, the boy figured he owed her credit. Not many people would elect to take him under their wing, particularly with a mother as nutty and mean as Mrs Yaxley. Honestly, he figured Rowan had to be the bravest person he knew.
Hachiro entered the book store and proceeded to browse the shelves. he wanted to get Hikaru a nice book he hadn't read yet as a gift. He had received an owl from him mentioning he had been sorted into Ravenclaw and was planning on trying for the quidditch team. Hikaru was working hard in school and decided to surprise him. He knew his little dorklett loves to read anything to get his hand son so Hachiro first started in the new releases section. If he couldn't find something here he would try a muggle bookstore next. They had some good finds there too.

Morgan drifted from one shelf to another, looking for texts in the shelves that might interest him. He'd been wanting to see if he could find a puzzle book forever, and had resorted to looking through muggle bookstores in his boredom, but none had caught his interest. Mostly because he found them too boring. He skimmed the titles, frowning at each one, and sighed. These were never going to actually be of any interest, were they? He might as well go for trying to figure out what his grandfather was trying to put together with his halfblood cousin at this rate.
Shaking his head, he decided to see if there were any books that had just come out to maybe pick up to read for leisure when he spotted someone standing before the display. Cocking an eyebrow, he decided to lean against the nearby wall and wait. He could be patient. It wasn't like he was waiting for anyone. Besides, he'd just come back from assignment in Egypt, so he was allowed a bit of time to relax. Now, if only he could find something interesting, he'd be in business. Although, judging by the man standing before the display, it might take some time.

Hachiro had a feeling someone was behind him. He turned back to look to see a light haired can looking like he wanted to look at the same section. You can go ahead an look I'm just shopping for my kid, he is doing well enough in school to earn a surprise." He said moving enough out of the way that this man could also look at books. This new browser seems impatient hopefully he hadn't been waiting too long for hachiro to move.

Hikaru was here with his mom to get his books and a new cauldron, he had melted his in the last week of the school year. he had already gotten the other suplies. They usually got the books on the last trip. With Hikaru they would always leave a bookstore with more than they intended to get. His mom was off getting the cauldron while he was browsing the shelves with a book list in hand. If he found some good deals he could perhaps get an extra book too.

Anastasia and her father had chosen to cover more ground as they shopped for her first year of school supplies. She was extremely glad to be rid of those chaotic streets. While the different people and situations were interesting, she wasn't too fond of the constant bumping and shoving. It caused her to grow more and more agitated, so while she wanted to save books for last, due to taking up more time, she needed to get indoors.
Bobbing and twirling through the crowd, Ana found herself in Flourish and Blotts. The smell of leather bound books filled her nose as she inhaled deeply. Her deep brown eyes graced over the shop as she rummaged through her coat pocket to find the list she needed for Hogwarts. Slim fingers skimmed down the parchment as she casually strolled around the shop. Here eyes darted from the paper to the shelves as she grabbed book after book, stopping finally when she had a stack of four in her arms. Pausing momentarily at her next row of books, she smiled politely at the boy next to her. "Hi." She spoke quietly, a light dip of her head followed. Placing the books she had in her arms onto the ground, she spotted the next book she needed. A History of Magic was placed a few shelves up, just only slightly out of her reach. Curse her petite height. She couldn't wait for the day she grew taller, just like her mother.
Stretching as high as she could on the tips of her toes, her fingers would just graze the edges of the book. Not nearly enough to get a grip on it to pull it from the shelf. Audible grunts and a final huff of frustration could be heard and she gave up. Remembering that she was in fact not alone, she turned to the boy next to her. "I don't mean to be a bother, but could you do me a tiny favor, and grab this book here?" Anastasia reached back up to point out the book. "Even with the added two inches of these shoes, I'm just out of reach."She giggled. Tucking her brunette lock behind her ear, she hoped she didn't overstep any line this stranger had. Although, she would be very surprised if he declined her. It was just a simple request.

Hikaru had been looking at his list so intently he did notice a girl un till she said hi then struggled to get a book. "Oh! Yea sure here let me get it" He said grabbing the book and passing it to her. "You would think the would put the first year books lower." He said with a nervous smile. He had one of his second-year books in hand, Standard Book of Spells Vol 2, to be exact. "did you need any help finding your books? I do come here a lot." He said, he wasn't lying at all he always came here.

Anastasia kept her smile still as the boy agreed to give her a helping hand. His height advantage allowed him to grasp the book with no trouble at all and hand it back down to her. "Thank you very much." She replied graciously. Bending forward, she placed the book in the pile with the rest on the floor in front of her. Her attention was then brought back to the boy when he continued to speak. Honestly, Ana assumed it would have just been left at that and she would continue her search around the store. Although, meeting someone new who will soon be your school mate, maybe even house mate, couldn't hurt. His comment about book placement made her chuckle mildly, but didn't send her gasping. "Maybe they want their first years to grow up?"She threw a sarcastic pun out in the open, not paying any mind to it as she continued to listen to the boy introduce himself.
His name was Hikaru. Quite unique. She doesn't know many people with different ancestral backgrounds, other than her own. Japanese was certainly much more new to her than meeting someone of English or French decent. Taking herself out of her head, she extended her own delicate hand out to grasp his. "I'm Anastasia, you can call me whichever variation you feel comfortable with. Most just go with Ana or Stacy." She explained as she shook his hand lightly. Her grip was very minimal and her hands were extremely soft. His felt not as soft to her, but for some reason she liked that aspect. "Also, yes, this is my first year. Judging by the grade two book you are holding, I assume you are going into your second year?" Ana queried with a tilt of her head, causing her hair to flow over her shoulder.
"What house are you in?" With how tightly he was gripping that novel, she could peg him for Ravenclaw, her father's house. Although, his gentle nature and eagerness to help her would presume Hufflepuff. It would be amusing to her if she were entirely wrong and Hikaru turned out to be a Slytherin. Although that wouldn't make sense what so ever.

"Glad to meet you." Hikaru said "Yes I'm going into my second year, I'm in Ravenclaw." He shifted is book to be more to his side. "If you are still looking for your books perhaps I can help. I always stop here when I'm in Diagon alley, so I know the place well." He asked sounding slightly nervous. He was practically a regular here. He preferred to buy a book a opposed to just borrowing it was nice to keep it to read again. Hopefully he wasn't too awkward

When her assumptions proved true, she let out a satisfied hum and nodded her head. He seemed to be quite the bookworm. The way he clutched his book and how comfortable he seemed within the shop. He even offered to help her find her other school books, as if he worked there. She smirked up at him and spoke her thoughts."You're certainly the nose-in-book type, aren't you?" She let out a small laugh and she proceeded to rid herself of her large grey overcoat. It was becoming rather toasty in there. Underneath was a pair of high waist jeans with a simple t-shirt tucked in. Tossing her coat to floor, which would make her mother shriek in horror, she placed her hands on her hips and looked back at Hikaru.
"I already found the books I need for school work, but I'm curious as to what you read in your spare time."She questioned. "With someone who comes in as regularly as you, I'm sure you have an endless list of recommendations. I'd like something to read before bed. My mom used to read me history books to sleep. It certainly did the trick. I would pass out three syllables in." It could be taken as a joke, but she was entirely serious. The second her mother started to read, she would fall asleep instantly. Tracing her fingertips along the spines of the books in front of her, Ana gazed over each one of them and absentmindedly reading the titles in her head. After a few moments she brought her attention back to Hikaru, awaiting his response.

Hikaru smirked. "Yea I am kind of a book nerd." He said sheepishly. She wanted a book recommendation? He was good there. "If you're looking for history I found Quidditch Through the Ages a good read even if you're not into quidditch." He partly hoped she was a quidditch fan, that was his other favorite topic, being the keeper last year helped that. He hoped to stay on the main team again this year. "It goes into a lot of history about brooms and the sports that influenced it." If the girl didn't already think he was a nerd she certainly would now.

Ana smiled widely when he admitted to his geekish tendencies. The moment he began talking about this book he recommended, she could see him light up. His tenseness from before melted away and she could really feel how much more comfortable he was in this conversation. While 'kind of a book nerd' wasn't really doing him justice, she was interested not the less. Her father had her fly on a broom a few times before and has had her listen in on Quidditch cup matches. Ana wouldn't say she is an avid fan, but she did find the subject mildly entertaining. "Well, Hikaru, point me in the right direction. I'll give it a go. My father has been trying to get me into Quidditch since I was a child. He was a Chaser in his days at Hogwarts." She shared this little tid bit of information in hopes of allowing him to feel even more at ease. When someone enjoys the topic, they tend to open up more.
Reaching forward she began to pick up her belongings, it finally sunk in how rude it was of her to just leave her things laying there on the floor. Plus, she was starting to feel on edge about her coat being on the dirty floor. Little bits of her mother's personality she regretfully assumed.'I am my mother's daughter, aren't I?' She thought to herself.
Keeping conversation on Hikaru, she looked up at him as she snatched her books into her arms."How many times have you read that one?"She flashed a crooked grin, poking some fun at him. "I guess a lot?" She didn't intend to be too mean, and she just took it as he knew that.

"Here I'll show you!" He said waiting till she grabbed her stuff to lead her to the section of quidditch books. On the way there she mentioned her dad having been a chaser when he had been at Hogwarts. "I'm the only one so far in mine to play but my dad likes it too. I'm the keeper, though every year all spots are up for tryouts so, I hope I get it again" He said fully unaware of how nerdy he was sounding. "Well I had to replace it twice, but I've lost track long time ago on how many times I read it, but here it is" Again it was higher almost too high for him, but he got it by knocking it off and catching it. He passed it over to her. Seeing a new one reminded how his current copy was getting worn.

The glee that swept over Hikaru's face as he went on about his book suggestion made Ana quite happy. Such passion is commendable, even if she didn't share the same joy. She was not very surprised when he mentioned he held a spot on the Quidditch team. While bookish and athletic weren't a common combination, it wasn't impossible. "Well, with your knowledge on the sport, I'm certain it gives you some advantage to keep your spot." She assured with a shrug.
Anastasia grinned when she found out that he has in fact bought multiple copies of the same book. Now that is what she would call dedication. Something to read once and then maybe reread a bit later is one thing, but to read something so much you actually have to replace it? That is certainly new to her. "I've never met someone so into reading." Ana chuckled and she grasped the book that was handed to her. It felt heavy in her hands, full of facts. "Well, I can't promise you I will read it that many times, but the pages will turn at least once." She placed the book on top of the stack already in her arms before returning them back to the ground. She needed to get the money from her coat pocket. Couldn't just walk out with these, could she?
"When do tryouts start? I'll need to come by and cheer you on." The least she could do was show support to someone who had helped her. Even if they aren't sorted in the same house, she'll keep him in her circle.

"Well, I tend to read things too much." He said smiling meekly. She started to dig around for her money. "They post announcements near the great hall for the exact time and date for each house, but they start shortly after sorting." He said. "They stick them in a place so everyone can see." she seemed ready to pay. "Oh hang on one more book for me and I can check out with you." He said unsure if his interaction with her would last past that. It would be great if it did but he didn't want to be too forward and weird, he did that plenty on his own
