Chel just stared at the little tete a tete.

What the ******** was going on?????? Legacy? Piece of it? How? What?

She settled for helping carry the injured towards the door, following behind the rest of them. "Hey where's this tunnel end?" she asked the "boss." "We goin' to the city of mole people or somethin'?" As much as Chel liked fighting mole people, she also liked things like fresh air and sunlight. Things were really mysterious right now, and Chel intended to find out why.

Gale legitimately had no idea what was happening, giving the moon hunter what he hoped was a confident expression in spite of this fact. He heard someone talking behind him - or rather, talking to him, and he turned around to see that it wasn't one of the unfamiliar hunters milling about. Instead, it was the female hunter with the vibrant pink hair that was even brighter than Shiloh's, and Gale took a step back to listen, a slight frown on his face.

"I don't understand what's happening," he muttered out of the corner of his mouth, still maintaining his confident pose and expression as much as he could. "Unless we've been somehow magically warped into some alternate universe, though I fail to see how that could have happened...unless..."

He tapped a finger thoughtfully against his chin. "Unless," said Gale quietly. "There was something behind that door at the monastery in island; an artifact of sorts that could have done this."

Legacy. The word didn't phase Jack, but he felt Owain's mental presence shift slightly, as though it resonated with him; the giant said nothing beyond urging him to continue forward, however. Secrets never settled well with Jack, least of all from someone who forcibly shared his mindspace. For now, though, there were more pressing matters.

"Moles would make fast allies at least, given our midget leader," he couldn't help but remark to Chel, his annoyance (mingling with an abject, if minor sort of dread) with this whole endeavor beginning to show through his wry humor. The giant shuffled in along with the rest, studying the barrier constructs critically before glancing at the various runes lighting the room.

"I've read about encounters with other realities, and that door had clearly been saturated with some sort of power,so I'd agree with that assessment. My question is, what is a legacy?" he asked. "Is that another word for the artifact we were looking for?"

Jason had been glad the raptors were dead, and had followed the group as they had tried to get through the strange door. When it had opened, the moon was greeted with a wide range of emotions, as they had ended up somewhere else entirely. How this had happened he had no idea, but the only thing he could do was to follow the rest and try not to make a moron out of himself.

Upon stepping through, he listened to the other hunters, took one of the offered gas masks and then bolted when they were told to run. With his heart in his throat he tried to get a idea of where Solia was, but couldn't spot her for the meantime. The only thing he could do was run.

Suddenly he felt something brush against him. He had no idea what it was, but what freaked him was the startled yelp in his head.

'Zanth?'

He was pretty sure Zanth was half joking. But it disturbed him to know whatever it was had hurt his weapon and not him.

Thankfully he had reached the bunker along with everyone else, and he felt a sick feeling rise in his stomach at the mention of Alternate universes. He didn't want to think about that. Instead he chose to focus on the injured that were here with them. He had heard others offer their assistance, and he thought it only proper to offer his own as well.

"I'd life to help the wounded as well, S-sir" He addressed the Life hunter

Chel's hug had been responded to in kind, with Milo's arms wrapping around her in return. He could feel her shaking against him, quirking a brow and debating between the typical responses of her possibly being cold or if she was actually afraid. Her question seemed to point to the latter and the brunette was glad the mask was able to cover his look of concern. "Nah," he began to respond still keeping an air of casual as he did manage to catch that look from Gale. Which he gave him a shrug.

Kohai!Dave (oh hey, that's where he was. He was honestly going to ask. Oh hey, was that Hello Kitty?) seemed to want them to press on however (he did want to comment how these people seemed to know them), past a door and underground. With runes for decorations. Milo glanced at them for a second before his attention fell on the conversation again and gathered himself up close to Chelsea. "Legacy, you say?" His fingers stroking at his chin like he had a dastardly wicked beard. He knew of some legacies, but none that would contribute in any way to this situation in the slightest. Still, couldn't help the mind not wander that direction. "They?" He squinted for a moment, trying to recall if they had that information.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 24, 2013 9:33 am

The door opened, then promptly disregarded the rules of physics and space-time.

Something felt faintly wrong. Mimsy warily hung back from the majority of the group, gently guiding Lucky along with her when she moved. He was probably too exhausted to be of much use for any amount of problem solving, but she was just miserable enough to not want to solve any mysteries of the universe at the moment anyway. These were dark times.

Her hand didn't leave his arm, even when the strange call for evacuation filled the air, and it was only after she'd put her gas mask on, spare extended towards him, that the pieces of their plight began to fall into place on their own. It wasn't too difficult, once she began to consider it, to make heads or tails of this - because it was somehow always heads, where 'heads' correlated with ventures into alternate realities.

Slowly, beginning with almost imperceptible motions, she began to move away, haphazardly hanging the mask over his head just before she could no longer reach him. The fog was thick enough to begin to hide him when she took a few more steps, and everything began to feel marginally safer.

Existing around Lucky in alternate universes had proven to have a 100% success rate of causing actions and situations she never wanted to speak of again.

So she kept a comfortable distance by moving as quickly as she could, pausing only to marvel at the sight of something that appeared arachnidian; her heart fluttered with excitement at the thought of a specimen so large. However, she had clearly not learned not to stare, as she felt something like a sting against her FEAR shield. Realizing the mask would probably not protect her from the painful acidic blindness that made her want to claw her own eyes out, she followed the sound of the trainees in front of her, and didn't stop until the masked strangers released her in some sort of makeshift underground facility.

Troublesome. The information provided by their hopeful companions only served to make the feeling of unease in her stomach much worse.

"I will volunteer my abilities to the wounded as well," she offered, voice hoarse and tired when she finally spoke up. "Ah, I do have one inquiry as a result of our absence, to allow me to quickly assess any of the conscious injured for extensive trauma. What is the current date? In the format of month, day, year, please, so I can validate their responses."

She had no real intention of aiding the injured, but everyone knew how suspicious it was to ask such a question without fitting it into context.

Chel put a single hand on Milo's shoulder, glad to see he'd made it through. Jack started talking with blondie, leaving Chel very confused.

"So wait- no idea where we are? Aren't you death guys supposed to have intel on places we go or something?" Chel knew literally nothing of Death. Zippo. "What's an artifact? And yeah I'm with beanstalk- what's a legacy?"

This was probably one of those times where she was supposed to not talk but she was talking anyways.

Dave and the other Hunter stopped dead in their tracks. Or rather, Dave did, the Moon Hunter continued moving, most likely lost in her own thoughts.

"You what?" Dave continued, a little too loudly. He boggled at Gale, and then at Mimsy who asked what time or rather, exact date it was. "I said you guys were gone for three days, that means its December thirteenth exactly two years after D-day. The thirteenth, you know, year two thousand and -"

- WHAM-

- The speaker nearly jumped an inch as the Moon Hunter leading the group shoved open the door roughly. "Addy, don't even scare me like that. You know how my nerves are after-"

- Bright red greeted them on the other side. Not stale, not even decaying; just bright, perfect fresh red. It stained the dimly lit walls and covered the floor in a pool of dark liquid.

And then there were the bodies, tattered white coats and faces, pale and unmoving. In an already small cavern it made everything claustrophobic. There were at least twelve bodies, or pieces of them. They were still, for all intents and purposes fresh kills.

Addy looked paler still, putting a hand to her mouth, turning around as she muffled a scream and kneeled down to one of the fallen Moon Hunters.

"No." Dave was backing up, having had the misfortune of almost stepping on a corpse. "No, I cant-" he looked broken, more so than before, any semblance of sanity disappearing entirely. "I can't do this, I can't do this, I can't-"

-BLAM-

The blow hit Jason right in the chest. There was no fear shield that could have protected the modified weapon. His chest seemed to erupt in red, his face was still shocked as he went down, and didn't come back up.

"Addy," Dave raised both hands, "Addy, give me the runic gun. Give me the weapon. You don't want this. You dont-"

- A second blast and Dave fell headfirst into the darker liquid and didn't get up.

The Moon Hunter turned her gun and aimed straight at Gale. "You guys did this. You. You promised us. You promised us you would find it and you lied. We're all ********, so that's it, so that's it. That was everyone left, there's only one thing left - just-" she gripped the trigger tightly, squeezing both fingers - "I'll see you in ******** hell-"

- BLAM-

The gun fired point blank at the ceiling, causing some dust and rock to shift. Addy herself stared in shock at something protruding from her stomach before she collapsed. What wriggled out from her body seemed at first like a centipede made entirely out of fog.

It seemed like something familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. More shadows than white fog, the hooded figure smiled, and their fog-shaped weapon moved-

- Evan's body thrashed and it was over in a second, the pieces continued to writhe even as both halves of him fell into the water, horribly and yet so surreal, scattered among the other bodies, as the door closed around them, as the fog coiled around them.

There was no escape.

OOC

VS ????

HP: ???/???
- All players can choose to attack. If they do they, take auto damage equal to half their REMAINING HP. They can attack twice. The auto damage they take is reflected in gruesome physical damage. Seriously, I mean seriously. Your character can choose not to take any damage if they wish in this case and stay back or do a defensive roll. If they go for the offensive, roll one of these effects right after your damage roll.

Rolling a 1: The end of the strange coiled weapon the figure is holding takes off your arm. It literally cleaves your arm right off. Your arm is bleeding freely and if you don't cauterize or seal the blood loss you will die.
Rolling a 2: The spines of the weapon pierce your leg, and you go down, hard. Everything starts blurring, as you feel the poison take effect. It is painful every step down until you finally can't see at all. You are blinded and barely conscious.
Rolling 3: You miss the brunt of the damage, avoiding the weapon, just barely. Instead, you trip over one of the fallen bodies, which seems for a moment to turn its head at an unnatural angle towards you and smile. You realize the reason you tripped was because it had snagged onto your leg
Rolling a 4: You miss the main damage but the fog around you begins to pull you in. Everything starts getting fuzzy, and you become unsure of yourself. Why shouldn't anything other than Home matter? With renewed deliberation, and only the thought of Home in your mind, you attack the nearest Hunter (pick and quote a target).

Nevada blinked as something started to happened.

Things she didn't even understand....

"E...Excuse me!?!?" She squeaked as Evan was ripped into by a centipede...and some moon hunter she never meant was shot with a gun.

"What...why...." She brought Leroy up in defense, looking around like the world was splitting underneath her..

SURE FELT LIKE IT...

She blinked and Jason was down just like that. Corpses and red and fog and red, all masking the timid moon hunter who had beaten her so resoundingly in the tournament and who had made sure she didn't die on the titan mission. Just . . . gone like that.

And then the creature appeared in full. Stormy stared for what felt like an age, frozen as Evan too was taken.

Even if the fog hadn't come she would have grown cold all over. This wasn't real, this wasn't real, it was the wrong time and place and couldn't possibly be real, because she could now, would not accept a reality where Evan went down so quickly. Just a blink and her brother was gone. Pieces. She was no Moon, but she could have . . . but she couldn't have . . .

Despair was a contagious thing. Stormy fought it off but could not hold back her strangled cry as she fell back, weapon summoned as she made her way blindly to Gale. Nevada was defending herself already, and in her split second decision to decide who'd get protection otherwise, it was an easy choice. She had no idea how any of them would get through this, but by God she wasn't going to wait for orders this time.

BAM

One moment he had been standing there, staring with abstract horror at the bodies that littered the small cavern. There was blood everywhere, body parts lying around.

The next, He felt pain. Pain like he had never felt before. At first he didn't even realize what had happened. All he saw was more blood and gore filling his vision, coating his entire body as he felt all the strength leave him.

It took Jason a few seconds to realize the blood was his own.

Legs buckled underneath, unable to hold himself up. His mind was a haze of shock and disbelief. Did that really just happen? Did he just got shot by someone on his own team? Out of all the things that could have happened, being taken down by someone he didn't know hadn't been high on his probability list.

The world came to a standstill, the fall to the ground taking much longer then he thought possible. Memories flashed through his head, regret at the things he hadn't done yet. He wouldn't complete his training, wouldn't master his nightmares and fears.

He'd Never get to tell Solia goodbye.

As his mind succumbed to the darkness, a scream echoed in his consciousness. Zanthvos was screaming his name, trying to reach out to him with his entire being before he too was lost.

"We are supposed to have intel," Gale hissed to Chelsea, a look of frustration passing across his face. "But it's not like I was expecting there to be something behind the door that - "

The rest of his sentence was lost, Dave looking at him in astonishment, and Gale heard D-day and December and then - he knew that smell, knew it all too well. A wretched, rancid awful smell that filled the room with a tangy metallic sort of scent and all there was was red, so much red -

<< What in the blazes - >>

"Wait," said Gale, reaching out towards Dave, trying to twist around to see the rest of his trainees, make sure they were still all with him. "Wait - "

Something hit a trainee - Jason - and then he was down in a second, and then Dave, and then -

"No," said Gale, shaking his head at the moon hunter. There was no time to panic over Jason or Dave, no time to get away, and he backed up into his little cluster of a team, arms outstretched as though this might keep them safe from the gun pointed directly at his chest. "NO, we didn't do this, stop it, don't shoot, we didn't do this to you - !"

- an explosion -

- something black -

Evan was gone in a blink.

"NO!" Gale screamed, and Jinhai appeared in a flash of white, the gun a stark contrast to the dim darkness that surrounded them. Vaguely he was aware of Stormy near him, and the rest of his team, and how the hell was he supposed to protect them from this monstrosity?

He had led them here, and if they died, it would be on his head.

Just like Ben. Gale lifted the gun, pointed it at the hooded figure, and shot. It was a dismal one, hardly grazing the figure, and he twisted around, trying to get better footing, better aim so that he could still shoot, so that he could keep the rest of his team from dying.

Something hit his leg - a sharp, sudden pain and Gale collapsed almost instantly, staggering sideways into someone and sliding down with a gasp. His head spun dizzily, a terrible nausea rising in his throat, and every limb felt heavy, hardly able to move.

He couldn't see.

"No," Gale mumbled, and his voice was distant even to his own ears. He struggled to get back up, but his body weighed about a thousand pounds. "No - "
