"You're wrong, Auntie," Miko said suddenly, cutting her aunt off. She hadn't moved from her position and her eyes were still closed as she continued to concentrate on the healing magic for the Reyvateil. "Without Hikari, we would have been dead already. I was injured in a fight with an F.P.D. Reyvateil in Behdla. Without Hikari's Song, I may not have woken up. She saved us when we entered into the Tower too. She and Nel sang that Song together and destroyed the Tower guardians that tried to kill us." Miko opened her eyes and glanced over at the ice water bucket now beside her, picking up the washcloth and wringing it out before placing it on Hikari's brow. "I won't keep her here long, okay? Just long enough for her to be stabilized. I just wish... I wish that you weren't so down on everyone else who doesn't share your Teru blood, Aunt."

"Miko..." Cello said with a sigh and crossed her arms.

The younger girl sighed and began casting her magic once more. Trying to lighten the tension, she changed the subject. "So, Mana, you wanted me to explain what happened?"

Miko explained everything to her sister and aunt who just sat there in silence and listened. She concentrated mainly on using her magic on Hikari, but still told them what happened until she got to the end. "And so, Gannon was injured but was refusing medical treatment, so the doctors sedated him just as I was taking Hikari here. He wasn't going to leave her otherwise. But he was in no condition to dive, so I didn't see any other way around it. Now I'm staying put, trying to keep her condition under control until Gannon can dive into her and fix the problem." She fell silent as she pulled the cloth off Hikari's forehead and plunged it into the ice water again to cool it down. She wrung it out again and placed it back onto Hikari's forehead. "What'll I do if I can't get her fever to go down?" She murmured under her breath. "Sorry, you guys, but I need to be alone to concentrate awhile. She isn't getting better and talking to you is distracting me, especially with the arguing you're both doing." She stood and shooed them out of the room before turning her full attention onto Hikari once again, continuing to use her spells on the girl in the hopes that she would start to feel better.

"Excuse me," Melody stopped a nurse on her way into one of the rooms in the infirmary. "How are both of the patients that were brought in?"

The young girl looked up from her paperwork. "I was on my way to check in on the young human. He's in surgery still." She nodded toward the other room. "The Teru is resting in the room over there. You may go see him if you like."

"Thank you." The Teru woman wasted no time in approaching the room and entered. She closed the door behind her only to shiver slightly. "It's rather chilly in here," she mumbled to herself. Melody turned around only to receive quite a shock. The bed in which Gannon was sleeping on was covered in frost. She gasped and ran up to the bed. "Resonance!?" She put a hand to his cheek only to find that it was freezing to the touch.

Standing, she rushed to the door and opened it. "Something is wrong with him!" She cried out, calling to the staff. "His magic is going out of control!"

One of the nurses poked her head in. "Oh, my, we'll turn the heat in the room up, immediately," she said. "The doctor will be in shortly."

Within minutes, the room had warmed up again. Teru magic was really nothing to sneeze at. The frost on the bed had even begun to thaw due to the bed itself warming with magic.

"[I don't think it's our place to say anything,]" Nel replied. "[Even if it makes us uncomfortable this isn't our house and it isn't our family.]" She sat rigid in the chair as the shouting continued, her hands pressed tightly between her knees, showing her obvious discomfort at the situation as well. Across from them, slumped in the chair, sat Shion. Nel frowned in worry, looking over the Third-Generation Reyvateil. "Say, Shion, are you all right? You look almost as sick as Hikari."

Gannon…

As the clinic's staff used their magic to counter Gannon's, the Teru seemed to calm down for the moment. The air had warmed back to tolerable levels and he was no longer tossing and turning. To anyone watching, it looked like Gannon was sleeping peacefully. In his mind, however, his nightmares grew worse. As the temprature raised, images of a home burning flooded his mind. "Melody..."

Seeing that it seemed to help Gannon to have him warmed up, Melody turned and was about to leave when she heard him speak her name. "Resonance...?" The young Teru woman turned to him. Something about his voice pained her. He sounds like he's suffering... She reached forward and took his hand, giving it a squeeze. "I'm here, don't worry. Everything's all right," she said soothingly, hoping to ease his troubled mind. She held a hand up to his cheek, running her fingertips along it, continuing to whisper comforting words to him.

She was torn. Melody knew that she needed to go to the shrine to prepare for Zek's burial but didn't want to leave Gannon when he looked so broken and frail. What do I do? Tears welled up in her eyes.

Just then, a nurse came in with disinfectant and bandages. "Excuse me for just a moment. I need to clean his wounds and bandage him up."

"Y-yes, of course," Melody said, releasing his hand and backing up so the nurse could work on him.

She began removing his armor and upper clothing, cleaning the wounds with a washcloth and using disinfectant on it, then wrapping each cut up tightly with gauze. "He was pretty badly beaten up, but nothing like that human. It's a miracle that one lived," she said to Melody.

"Yes, I feared the worst for him, and for the Reyvateil with him. She seemed really distressed about his condition. Is he out of surgery yet?"

"Not yet, I imagine they will still be working on him for a few more hours. It'll be days before he even wakes up and I can't imagine how long it will take him to heal."

A slight frown marred the female Teru's features as she watched over the nurse dressing Gannon's wounds. "I see..."

As soon as the fight escalated between Mana and her aunt, Miko's heart started to race. FPD containment? No! She stared down at the unconscious Reyvateil in the bed. Her fever had dropped a bit and she seemed to be regaining some of her color. What worried Miko the most is she would awaken to the fighting and her condition would worsen again. So, in order to drown out the sound of Mana and Cello's fight, she pulled out her flute and played a soothing melody, concentrating her magic on Hikari.
