The further the group travels from the faerie mound, the better Miela feels. She hadn't realized how much it was affecting her until she realized how buoyed she felt by walking among the other hikers, surrounded by green, growing things. And growing things of many other colors! She marvels at the beautiful, brightly-colored birds that soar above the canopy. She feels confident that one of them dropped the feather she'd found. She's in such a good mood again that she doesn't even feel the least bit afraid when she spies a spotted cat slinking through the forest near the path. Surely it was just curious.

A few moments later, Miela spots a familiar tree and nearly squeals with glee. Hurriedly she requests a basket from one of the fairies, then gets the pocketknife out of her backpack and cuts off a small fruit-bearing twig to replant later. She'd thought they'd left these behind forever when they left Equestria! It's hard to tell now, but she knows inside the green casing and brown shell lie white-fleshed nuts that had been her absolute favorite back home. She bets she can find good conditions near Laisidhiel to replant these, though it's tempting to just eat them now, and have a good crop later! Earth faunies were the best farmers.

Excitedly, she casts her eyes about for anything else she could take home and replant. She sees a wide, bushy tree not too far away and goes to investigate, making sure she's still well within the fairies' sight. She has a feeling she knows what it is, but she's going to make sure. She snips off a branch with some nuts and then smiles. She'd been right! Little round nuts with a brown casing and a sweet flavor. These grow in pretty much any climate, too! She places the branch in her basket and moves on.

Next she sees a tall, tall tree with hard, round shells growing on it. She bets there's something soft and delicious in there...she climbs up a branch and picks one. She tries to break it open with her hands, but it's too hard. So she holds it against the tree branch and smacks it with the butt of her pocketknife. Jackpot! The shell cracks to reveal a soft, ridged meat. She tastes just a tiny bit of it, just to see. It has a warm flavor to her, and now she's curious what they'd taste like roasted over a fire. She cuts a small branch to replant and puts it in her basket, then climbs back down.

Pleased with her haul, Miela falls back into line, following the fairies, until she spots a specific fern growing near the nut trees she'd found. Ooh, this would be perfect! These ferns attract bees, which pollinate the plants and flowers! She digs up two plants and nestles them in her basket. Already she's feeling more and more like Laisidhiel was her home, since she can't wait to get home and start cultivating these!

Miela found macadamia nuts, hazlenuts, and pecans! She also took some bee ferns.

Pelagious followed the fairies merrily through the forest. He wasn't really paying attention to what they said, more like what they were wearing. It wasn't until they stopped that he realized they were supposed to be gathering things. Looking around, he noticed some odd lookin, red fruits. Well, that seemed to be the thing to take. Grabbing some cacao, he shoved it in his pack. Running to the next tree, he grabbed some nuts and shoved them in as well. The next tree had small coffee beans. Or what looked like berries. Eyebaling them, he grabbed a few and shoved them in his pack as well.

Then, he continued walking along. Coming across a beautiful flower, he grabbed that and shoved the purple kiss in his pack. Then he noticed the intoxicating smell coming off of a few pants. Leaning closer, he gave another deep whiff. They smelled amazing. Maybe they would taste as good?

Grabing a few of each and every wonderful smelling spice plants he shoved them in his backpack. This day was turning out better and better. Looking arund, he quicky spotted what he was looking for. An avalon. Racing back to the track and grabbing his measuring tape, he quickly held it out and continued his mission.

Taking the measurement s of the tiny fairies while dodging their heated slaps and and ackward stares.
((Pelagious is taking coffee beans, cacao, and spices. Also, taking purple kiss cause it's pretty! All shoved in his bakcpack! He stays by the fairies, still trying ot get their measurements))

Delfin grinned to himself. He was watching the various ladies bend over and examine various plants along the path. This trip was turning out nicely. Shifting his pack, he watched as they bent and picked something, shoved it in their backpack and continued their journey. He was so distracted by the beautiful site, that he failed to pick anything at all. He just simply watched and smiled to himself.

Every now and then, a pae would catch him staring at them. SO he quickly acted as though he was digging. Which really was digging, he just didn't really care if he found anything. But he continued his farce as another pae shot him a dirty look for staring at their tookus. He didn't notice all the small holes he was leaving behind...

((Delfin is deciding to dig for a few things. He stays close to where the fairies are/))

Shizzle was freaking out. Despite his little brid friend, who had decided to join him, the creepy noises were too much. Between Shizzle's hollaring, shrieking, and screaming, he sounded like a bad mix of howler monkeys.

Rocking back and forth, he decided that he would never, ever take another vacation. Again. If the thing that kept growling at him was any clue, he wasn't made for the wilderness. He was just to wimpy to survive out here.
((Shizzle is crying and rockling back and forth and generally having a nervous breakdown))

Ranuin slowed his digging as the white alicorn neared, aware that he wasn't alone and halting from throwing dirt into the air behind him. He glanced up with a questioning look, then back down at the ground. "I don't know, really. I mean, nothing in particular. Everyone always walks around, finding things around them or on top of the ground, but few ever bother to look under it. You never know what you might find!" His enthusiasm seemed to peak, then waned again as he looked down at the current hole with a shrug. "Mostly lots of roots though."

Rising to a more dignified position, he brushed the dirt off and adopted a sheepish look again, speaking quieter so it was just between the two of them. "I...look, I'm sorry about before. I just...I couldn't help but overhear, and I wasn't trying to or anything! You just...seemed sorta' uncomfortable and I got to thinking about if someone was talking to Moony like that, pointing out how different she was, like it's a big deal or something, when we're all supposed to be the same and if she'd been upset, and-" He shuffled his paws awkwardly, flushed beneath his dark fur as he rambled. Reaching up to rub his neck, he shrugged, "I dunno, I got mad." He sighed, finally looking up again, but only for a minute before looking away. "I just don't see what the big deal is about it. We're all part of the Tree. I mean...I don't even have hooves. How many Faun have paws? Aside from me and my sister, none that I've ever seen," he grumbled. He'd always been different. Yet, the Faun of the Tree accepted him as well. He'd not thought about it much when he was younger, but as he'd grown, he'd become more aware of the differences between himself and his sibling and the rest of the Faun. Sure, most didn't make a big deal about it, cause they were used to him running around the Tree, growing up. But every once in a while, this whole Faun/Fauny thing came up again and he had to wonder what the heck those individuals thought about him, when he didn't really look like either.

Raina was only too pleased to get away from the creepy mound, so her mood had improved vastly once they had put some distance between them and the haunted place. "You know, you're almost pleasant to be around now," Faroth quipped to the tail-wagging wolf at his side, ignoring her eyeroll.

'Wish I could say the same!' she shot back, though her tone was anything but serious. She was too relieved to be away from the oppressive atmosphere. Too much malice and hatred and-

"Hmm...wonder if I should pick up a few things for Takeko," Faroth murmured, following the fairies' announcement. Raina didn't seem to have much to say on the matter, having gone to sniff at a bush, so he shrugged and waved down one of the fairies handing out baskets. The going through the thick undergrowth was slow, but that just meant that Faroth could gather things while he kept moving. He kept with the group, every once in a while pausing to sniff at some sort of fruit or other plant before adding a few seeds or small cuttings to the basket. He may not have been much of a gardener personally, or ever known what half the things were that he was picking up, but as a Faun, he knew enough to feel what was safe to take without hurting the plants too badly. Before long, the basket was rather weighty, or it would have been for most Pae'il. Faroth simply hefted it onto one shoulder, keeping it balanced with one arm. After watching some of the other Pae'il grabbing an odd sort of yellow fruit and peel it, he'd picked a couple of bananas as well, holding one in his free hand and having a quick snack as he walked.

Meanwhile, Raina had noticed Ranuin's own little adventure, but had simply watched from a distance. Nothing too bad seemed to come of it at least. And he didn't need her running in to save him all the time. The boy had to grow up at some point. Besides, she had Faroth to deal with first, and that was already a full-time job.

"You know, maybe this hike isn't so bad afterall."

Faroth collected a basket with some bananas, coffee beans, cacao, bamboo cuttings, some mushrooms/fungus, ferns, spices (Jungle Rose, Purple Nettle, Pearl Flower, Titan's Orchid) and a couple of magic reagents (Bee Fern, Jungle Bells, and Purple Kiss).

Celestia laughed lightly at the spunk from the teenager, as well as the fluctuating range of emotions. Goodness, where did they get the energy from? "Perhaps you may stumble across something of interest, though? I could help you if you would care for some company...?" Just a suggestion, a small step towards reacquainting herself with others, even if it cheated somewhat by it being someone whom was no trigger. Every effort counts though, right?

There was almost a need to calm the poor boy down again, but he kept his emotions enough about him that she made no motion to it. "You speak the truth as I, too, understand it to be. Appearances are just that, nothing more. It is our hearts, our thoughts and our spirits, which make us a family, even if it is not held by blood. Some may not agree it to be so." A small laugh. "I must agree, however, that I do not recall seeing others with the wolf's paws. I imagine the Cheiftain was just as surprised, if less plainly so, to see them as he was to see our wings." She completely understood why these feathers would have been so shocking to him, considering she now felt a mistrust and fear for the blood pae who, previous to them, had been the only kind with them.

Notcing a tree with bright, fuzzy orange fruit on it, Pelagious stopped measureing/incurring the avalon's wrath to investigate. SUrely this was worth trying. They looked like peaches.

Plucking one off of the tree, he gave it a small bite. It was DELISCIOUS!!! Grabbing a few more, he quickly shoved them in his pack and went back for more. They weren't peaches. They tasted too different. They tasted almost like a fruit salad. Quickly asking a fairie what it was, the fairie replied somewhat happily "Sapodilla", then quickly buzzed away before Pelagious could measure him.

Shoving the fruit in his pack, he quickly returned to path and began to follow at a somewhat slower pace. There were lots of interesting things in this forest. If only he could find some more. He began looking around a little more closely.

Then he noticed some pretty plants. They were spikey. And green. And just looked...jungly. Grabbing a shovel and a bucket from one of the fairies, who were entirely too relieved that he had stopped touching their butts trying to measure, Pelagious quickly began to dig some of the bromeliads up. They would go wonderful in his imaginary/half built mansion.

He smiled warmly to Celestia, unaware of her nervousness with his intrusion. As it was, it looked like the situation was quickly dying down, with the teen scampering away. When Lira suddenly went to him, he blinked down at her before shaking his head to the rainbow female. "Just wanted to make sure everything was alright. It looks like we should be leaving." He was more than alright to lead Lira away and towards the rest of the group. The moment he was out of earshot of the teen and Celestia however, he softly spoke to the female on his arm. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to...but what was that all about?" He knew she was a little more than a little socially awkward, what with her bipolar swings and her being distanced from pae for so long. Perhaps he should stick by her side a bit closer for the remainder of the trip.

As they came up to the fairies, he took a basket. "Hey, this is like a fend-for-yourself buffet!" The male laughed, his tail flicking with anticipation. When they came to a banana tree, he reached up and pulled a low-hanging bunch and plopped it into his basket. "A favorite..." It was then that he caught a whiff of something atrocious. "Just a moment Lira." He patted her arm and walked right off the path, sniffing his way to the source. A patch of flowers. They were very pretty considering their smell, and his nose wrinkled in spite of himself. Too stinky for his friend. But as he looked around, something caught his eye, hiding under a fallen tree trunk. A beautiful, bright flower. He padded over to it, and reached out to pluck it but...that didn't seem right. To kill such a beautiful flower...The male kneeled down and dug around and under it to get all of the roots before putting it in his basket. He quickly turned back to return to his companion. "I saw this, and I thought of you." Kaiden lifted his basket to show the Fairy Queen flower. "I think I'll replant it in my nook in the Tree, as a reminder for the day we met."

Lira had walked with the other, picking up her bag the Faries had given her as they left and just shrugged "it wasn't meant to be anything confrontational, I swear, I was talking to the Celestia and we spoke of her and her own coming here and joining the tree etc and I guess I said something that upset an eves dropping teenage Faun and hence the situation that arose, I didn't mean to upset him but I guess I am also not used to speaking to other Pae either. I am sorry you had to step in, I didn't want to make trouble for you I just thought I would try and mingle and see if I could make a friend on this trip but I see that maybe it was stupid of me to do so..." she said as she sighed a little and then looked at him, scared a little "now do you see another reason I should be at home!? If it isn't dying in some jungle cave it will be through being feasted on by...what was it? Nepenthes rafflesiana? Kaiden, you said fun and being eaten alive doesn't exactly sound like fun!" She said, wanting to now just turn around and go back to camp at least.

Lira took the bug spray out of her bag and sprayed herself with it, hated the smell of it and the fact she was now sticky but at least the bugs would be kept away at least but whatever that Nepenthes thing was she didn't want to know or come up against it but now she had something else to worry about, she didn't want to die! She didn't want to be eaten! She had the rest of her life ahead of her! And what about her darling little bunny at him? She didn't want to leave him parentless! No, she was going to head back to camp, she wasn't going to die out here and she was certainly not going to be eaten by some plant or but or whatever that Nepenthes thing is!

As she was internally scaring herself with the situation at hand more then she probably should she hadn't realized that Kaiden had left and as she was about to fret about him having vanish when she saw that he had just come back with...with a flower and some bananas? for the moment she ignored what he said and ran over to him she threw her arms around his neck and hugged him "don't ever do that again!" She said, pulling away from him "all for a flower as well! I was starting to think some bug ate you or something!" She said as she took a deep breath and took a better look at the flower, ignoring the bananas before realizing what he had said when he had come back which just made her look away and blush. I..." she said softly and shyly once more "...the flower is beautiful" she said as she took another proper look at it, good thing to use to hopefully hide her blush as well "truly, it is, it is" she said as she tried to calm down a little more before she looked at him again, smiling at him "and that is sweet, thank you" she was going to point out the fact that they met outside the tree and not here so technically today isn't the 'day they met' but hey, the sentiment was sweet and she wasn't about to take that away with a technicality.

"Though really, this flower, are you sure you can grow it back home?" She asked curiously, she would love to see more of this flower around home, it was truly beautiful but still.... "I only ask because in this jungle the atmosphere and humidity and...well....everything is different to to what our Tree and its surrounding areas are like, I truly hope that you can but forgive me if I am a little doubtful, this jungle may be the perfect home for it to live but take it out of it we may not be able to get it to grow" she said to him, voicing her concerns as she offered him the bug spray and took the basket from him carefully.

Lira looked around at the others gathering things and walked over to what appeared to be some sort of bean hanging on a planet so she bent down and dug out the plant by its roots, like Kaiden had done with the flower and placed the bean plant into the basket before looking around once more and noticed another strange plant and decided that she would take a cutting of that as well. Lira walked over and knelt down, looking the plant over and started wondering if the two plants could be eaten but she pushed that idea to the back of her mind as she took a cutting from the plant and placed it also into the basket before returning to Kaiden "apologies, these two plants got me curious" she said as she looked around, wondering what else could be out here...well, lets rephrase that, what else that wasn't wanting to eat them was out here.

Joi was happy with her find in the mound. She was eager and excited to show it to her mom and hoped maybe she would know more about it, or even be able to read it, considering her mom was as old as dirt anyway. A chill ran down her spine giving her goosebumps and she took that as her sign to skedaddle. This place gave off such a sad, yet angry feeling. She did not feel comfortable at all in this part of the jungle.

The fairies checked her journal and handed it back, so obviously it was of no use to them.

Back at the campsite, Joi had nightmares of what happened at that mound, when it was a stone cottage in a lush coniferous forest. The screaming children, the cartoon-like face of the evil fae Pae. She didn't get much sleep that night, which didn't bode well for the next day's hike.

She almost was too late, because she was trying to squeeze in some extra sleep, but it was when the fairies started taking down her tent that she finally got up. She'd missed breakfast, but she was okay with that, deciding to just eat one of her fairy ration meals (FRM)

Joi was not particularly interested in harvesting the food and regrowing it, though she was interested in eating a few of those bananas. Those flowers and spices did not grow anywhere nearby her home, and she'd never seen them before. And the bamboo and rubber tree were something new as well. She wondered if she had the strength today to take some clippings from those plants to try and grow in her own garden. No harm in trying. She picked up a basket and got a few clippings. She requested some sort of water-tight bag or little jar from the fairies so she could keep them alive, but they denied her request. Joi just had to hope the hike today was a short one so should snag some empty jars from the food cart.

A couple of the more interesting flowers she dug up, allowing them to live with their roots intact so she could transplant in her own garden.

After a while of being led further into the jungle to look at all the different plants, flowers and trees, she started to notice the sun was low in the west, and wondered if they'd have time to make it back to camp before sundown.

Twizzz yawned and stretched as he prepared to begin the new day. He had not yet tried to remove the ring, so nothing was amiss to him. He coated himself generously in bug spray, it had been a life saver the day before. The male was certain he'd have to ask the fairies for more before this trip was over because of how overzealous he had been in his application.

Really? Really?! Pae eating plants? Twizzz rolled his eyes, finding it hard to believe that there was a plant with an appetite. At the same time, he was certain it was probably true, he had never been this deep into the jungle, and there was all sorts of things out here that made his skin crawl, perhaps adventuring was not his thing. Unless he had Yipes of course, the male sighed. At least he wasn't sitting home alone, it probably would have been worse if he had.

Twizzz followed along the path, staying close to the main group, he wasn't all that interested in looking at plants. That was until the fairy guide explained what cacao was. Chocolate?! Chocolate! Twizzz was so excited he could hardly contain it, he gathered up what he immediately saw, and then kept his eye out for more for the rest of the hike. He wasn't really the gardening type, but perhaps if he gave this to someone else, he could work out a deal so he would always have access to it, and maybe start making chocolate. It was a dream come true for the sweet-toothed demon.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Zecora was still happy with her pot, and when she found out what today's trip was all about she was even more thrilled. She was relieved to find out that the jungle was not being harmed by their trek through it, she had always been so mindful of such a thing when she traveled on her own. Zecora stayed close to the front of the group so that she was in excellent hearing range of the guide. It was a good thing she was up front because she stopped often to gather the things that were pointed out, quickly filling the extra bag she had brought with her.

By the time, she was finished gathering what she could, she could just barely see the last person of the group and would quickly run to catch up. At least, as quick as one could run in a dense forest. She was thankful for the weed-whacker fairies now. At a few points Zecora would pause at a familiar looking plant and pull out her provided shovel to dig for the roots. Some of the roots had medicinal qualities that Zecora was familar with, others were just tasty to eat. Digging was time consuming, and she was always worried about falling behind from the group. Despite the fact that Zecora usually traveled alone, the fairies had seem to put a heavy emphasis on staying together... and bug spray... she trusted their judgement.

[Twizzz is gathering as much Cacao as possible
Zecora is gathering fungus and some of each of the magical reagents for her to experiment with back home. She is also occasionally stopping to dig for roots.]

Despite having wings Enki decided to walk with those who could not fly. Flying over everything felt like cheating, besides he came here to learn about the jungle and the island, not skip over everything. He, once again, stayed near the back as they walked. Those fairies were scary. He listened to how they said the jungle grew back fast but...That would be like cutting off his own wings and waiting for them to grow back. Ya no. He still didn't agree. They should only be leaving their footprints, not a path of plant cutting carnage.

As they walked the fairies pointed out different plants, the group started to pick at what was around them as they past. His family dealt with squash but...Maybe they could try some other stuff? He didn't take a lot, a pod of cacao, a pineapple top, one of every nut he could find, coffee beans, and some sapodilla for back home. Maybe his dads would know what to do with them.

Coronus Had a hard time sleeping that night every time she closed her eyes she could hear the children giggling making her wonder why they were laughing if they had died horrible deaths. She was more than happy to get away from that spooky place The next morning and get on the boat. As the boat moved away from the shore she sighed and hopped the next stop would not be such a dark place.
Coronus was happy to find out this stop was not dark and scary at all it was bright and full of plant life. As the faerie were explaining what all the plants did she smiled to her self. Coffee she knew what came from that plant and it made her smile. She took some of the seeds carefully and put them into her bag carefully so that they would not get harmed. She took seeds from all spices plants except for the one that was poisonous it would not be safe to have around in case something mistakenly ate it. She also noticed the nut trees and took some of the seed from them also. She was careful not pick to much to weigh her bag down. She stopped and put her bag down on the ground to reorginize it that was when she realized if there was something growing above ground something could be below.
She got on her hands and knees and started to dig with her hands hoping to come across a root.

((Coronus got spice, coffee and nut seeds.))

The Faeries had not wanted to see the book that Iris topaz had brought out with her. Heading back to camp she pulled out the old manuscript and looked at the writing trying to see if she could make out any of the words while walking. It was getting hard for the fauny to read when she looked up and noticed that no one else was around. Had no one noticed her going the wrong way and called for her attention. Well she had not been making friends with the other pae on the trip so no one would know her name and she had been one of the last to leave the mound. Looking around she tried to figure out were she was in the dense forest. After a few minutes she thought she heard the sound of crying. May be it was one of the animals that lived here Well it was as good of a lead as anything she walked fallowing the sound until she came upon a hole. It was hard to make it out in the dim light but she had been lucky not to step in it. The crying was coming from inside the hole.
"Hello is any one down there?" she called out

As Iris Topaz called into the hole in the ground, a rather loud, penetrating "SCREE" could be heard coming from directly overhead. Before she'd even have a chance to look up to see what made the noise, she was snatched up by the shoulders with giant talons. A larger-than-average (re: giant) harpy eagle flew off quickly up high, ascending one particularly tall tree (120 feet tall). The grasp of the sharp talons ripped the straps on her backpack, causing it to fall into the hole with Shizzle. On top of the tree, Iris Topaz will see a nest with 2 eggs. The harpy eagle will drop her in the nest.

Iris Topaz strayed away from the protection of the fairies, so she's gotta deal with the jungle on her own, just like Shizzle.

((Don't worry, she, nor Shizzle are permanently stuck. There will be a prompt coming up that will "save" them. Until then, any Pae that strays will encounter a dangerous situation they have to deal with until the proper prompt.

And don't forget that Iris Topaz has hooves, not feet, so she shouldn't be able to easily climb down a 120 foot tall tree.))

Okeanos wasn't sure what he thought of today's particular "venture."

There was nothing "eerie" here that caught his attention, just a bunch of annoying plants he found it rather difficult to get himself through. Personally, it was enough to make Okeanos hrrumph a bit, not wanting to deal with the vegetation or getting through it. The vegetation was particularly strong here, and it was clear this leg of the trip was not necessarily intended for naiads, who could do none of that flying thing he caught some of the fairies doing. Angels and demons could, even though faeries, but he wasn't one of those, nor had he seen any that looked gullible enough to carry him around.

Bummer.

It seemed that today's task had to do with gathering plants--something him, as a water-based creature, was not terribly interested in. He supposed he would just to do something, though, because it seemed that wandering off was probably something he was not capable of doing in the level of vegetation around him.

So did any of these things sound good to take? That was what Okeanos was wondering as he looked around at what was available. Not much of it was things he recognized, so it was at least clear that quite a few of the items that were there were not things that were on the majority of the isle. Perhaps he should bring some of these things back. With these items, perhaps he could influence some Pae'il...

With promises of whatever that sweet smelling plant was.

This ... stick-like green plant seemed stunningly sturdy. He would take some of that, too. Okeanos dug up a bit of the sweet plant and took some of the stick-plant with him, tucking them away.

There was a scent that made him sleepy, and catching that, he decided he needed to take that plant too, along a few other plants nearby. Those were dug up, roots and all, and placed away as well.

And to snack on, he grabbed a bunch of bananas and some nuts.

Okeanos took Cacao, Bamboo, Jungle Bells, Fairy Queen, Purple Kiss, Witch Petal, Bananas, and some nuts.
