((Dude, you killed six goblins, not four.)) Leon's face pulsated with fresh pain on his right side, and his vision was a little blurry in that eye. The solid hit had sobered him from his anger. He was going to have to play it careful with these ones. He saw that one of the hobgoblins was wielding a crude short sword, and the other a large club. Out of the corner of his left eye he could see Ganner heading in his direction. Leon would need to hold them off until he got there to back him up.
He dodged back as a short sword swung at him from the side. He took a few steps sideways to try and put the hobgoblin with the sword between him and the one with the club. If he only had to deal with one, it'd be easier. The hobgoblin came back with with a backhand swing. Leon deflected it with his left hand dagger and tried to come in with a jab from ember's kiss, but the sword wielder sidestepped allowing the other to do a threatening overhead strike with his club. Leon put his daggers up in a cross block and dodged back just in time. They pressed forward, taking turns swinging at him, and he gradually retreated back, dodging and parrying as he went, until they backed him into the wall of a house. He stumbled a bit and was caught on the left shoulder with a swing from the club.
He needed to make some space, get some room to breath. He made a snap decision and quickly dodge rolled to his right, and when he came to his feet he flipped Ember's kiss so he was holding it by the point, then threw it into the arm of the hobgoblin with sword while activating it's flames. He was now short a weapon, but this would give him the room he needed.

With the chaos ensuing withing the buildings, the villagers who escaped the attack of the goblins and being saved by the duo began to help the others take out the fires. Alister who was still in the field waved to villagers who were within sight. Several came to him and saw that he was with the children, but told him that more goblins and hobgoblins had entered the storage house. He told him his friends were engaging the monsters now. Asking them to watch over the children while he lent aid to his companions, he headed to the storage house entrusting the children to the adults.
Once there he looked as several goblins lay on the ground in a pool of their own blood. It seemed they had taken care of the small fry but where were they. He turned at the sound of grunting and clashing of steel. From the broken door, he could see Leon engaged in melee with two hobgoblins and Ganner with several goblins. Pulling out his hammer he came from behind two of the goblins. turning around as to why a large shadow covered them, they were met with a blow sending them to the wall and ground.
Alister glanced to see that Leon was having some trouble taking care of the hobgoblins. "Can you finish them?" he asked, though he knew it was pointless to ask. The one who needed aid now was Leon. He nodded to Ganner and went to help the thief. Waving his hand and uttering a chant, he cast a regenerative healing spell that would slowly heal Leon's wounds. Then holding his hammer before him he incanted a spell of light. Several chains of golden light appeared from the ground and began to entangle and bind one of the hobgoblins. Hopefully this would give Leon the advantages he needed.

Leon felt a warm then cool feeling come over him as his wounds healed closed. Then he saw golden chains bind one of the hobgoblins. He turned his attention to the other, swinging a dirty kick to the knee.

((I think something got confused somewhere. Because in my last post Ganner finished off the goblins he had been fighting and then ran to help Halcyon...))

Ganner arrived almost at the same time. He saw that Alister had one of the hobgoblins well in hand and so turned his attention to the other one. Halcyon hit it with a kick to the knee just as Ganner came up behind it. Ganner swung his sword in a horizontal arc intending to end it with a quick decapitation. Unfortunately for him the hobgoblin ducked under the swing as it reached for its bruised shin. And that was also when it noticed Ganner standing behind it. The hobgoblin brought its club swinging at Ganner in an upwards arc aimed for his jaw. Ganner barely managed to interpose his sword and was knocked off balance by the sudden strike. The hobgoblin took advantage of that and crashed into him, shoulder first, throwing Ganner from his feet. Ganner landed on his back and his breath blasted out of him. The hobgoblin was already bringing its heavy club down in a powerful two handed swing. Ganner brought up his foot and blocked with a kick. Ganner rolled and spun up to his feet. This time he was ready and blocked a swing from the hobgoblin's club with his sword. Ganner stepped in and with a quick gesture and a murmured word he incanted a spell. The Goblin struck again and Ganner sidestepped the attack and then slammed his left hand into the monster's chest. The flames that had been wrapped around Ganner's hand leapt onto the hobgoblin and lit him like a pyre. To make sure that the job was finished Ganner reenacted his original plan and swing his sword in a a horizontal arc and separated the flailing hobgoblin from its head. The body fell to the ground and lay still, smoldering.

Just as he had finished incanting, Alister turned to see the body of Ganner moving toward him due to the strike from the hobgoblin's club. His body crashed into one of the shelves holding a few sacks of seed and items which spilled its contents over him. "Wah, blah!" he yelped as piles of seed covered his face and continued to bury him. This was slightly embarrassing considering that dwarves are usually known to be a sturdy bunch.
((I'll post again after Halcyon.))

Leon, seeing that Ganner was taking on that hobgoblin, instead turned his attention to the one that Alister had bound. He screamed at it in goblin.
"What are you doing here!? Why are you attacking these innocent villagers!!?"
The anger on his face was increasingly apparent as it reddened beneath the black of his mask.
"Did you really think you could just walk in here and kill these villagers!?"
He spat in it's eye, then, almost as an afterthought, jammed Ember's Kiss into that same eye and activated the flames. He spoke again, this time in common.
"Die scum."
His demeanor was no longer angry, but instead chillingly cold.

After Leon had his way, the hobgoblin's body slumped to the ground. The chains faded soon after. The remaining goblins who witnessed the events, fled carrying what little they could. There was no more reason to stay and if they did, they would only meet their end. Alister looked as the monster fled to the fields and finally into the woods. Hopefully never to return.
Once everyone saw that the danger had passed, they concentrated on putting out the fires and gathering what was left. It took a moment for them to realize that the children had also returned. There was great relief and rejoicing upon seeing them.
The village invited the trio to join them in a celebration of ridding the goblins and the safe return of the children. With the recovered goods and what they were able to prevent from being stolen, they found reason enough to use up a portion of their goods. It was the only way they could thank the group. Although Alister tried to decline and state that they should instead save what little they had left, they insisted and that it would be an honor if they could join them. They apologized in advance that it wouldn't be as grand as they would have liked, but their gratitude was great.

((Alright, I'm going to take the reins back from here.))
Ganner, Halcyon, and Alister were the center of attention as the celebration was underway. Men came and shook their hands, and brought them drinks and food, thanks were given. Women also brought them things including trinkets of thanks, and to remember them by, and swooned over them. Ganner decided to make the best of the situation and drank and ate and made merry. He talked and laughed with the men, and flirted and laughed and danced with the women. The events continued well into the night and Ganner eventually found himself becoming tired from the days events, and not more than a little amount of drink. Finally, into the wee hours of the morning, Ganner was forced to excuse himself and returned to his room for the night. He made sure to lock the door behind him also. As much as he would have enjoyed spending the night with some fine young lass he did not want to leave this town behind with a jaded young maid and possible progeny. Those sorts of activities were better undertaken when a person had far less drink and far more sense in them.
Ganner awoke the next day and discovered that he felt surprisingly well considering how much he had had to drink. He also found that he had fallen into bed the previous night fully dressed, and so simply straitened out his clothing a bit before unlocking and opening the door and heading down into the common room. Already there were several people gathered about. Ganner went straight up to the bar and ordered a heaping late of whatever was cooking for breakfast. Because if he was going to await the rise of his fellows he might as well get some food in him at the same time.

((thank you. I was beginning to get mind blanks of what to do next.))
Alister joined in the merriment and chatted as well as drank. Being a dwarf, he was accustomed to the amount of beverage he was given and seemed rather himself more than the men who joined him. Many of the women and children would also gather and speak to him often asking if he had been on many adventures in the past. He admitted that his adventures were not as amazing as they would have liked, but he shared what he could since many of them had never ventured far from the village itself.
Once the day was done, he retired in his room and fell asleep. The next morning he woke early fully rested and went downstairs. He noticed Ganner already eating his breakfast and went to join him. "Up and about so early I see." he said ordering a similar plate.

During the festivities Leon went up to his room, preferring to be alone. He had done enough damage to his cover by playing hero and wanted to conserve what little he had left. Somehow he imagined that drinking, dancing and making merry would not help him to that end. He instead allowed himself a little more much needed sleep.
Having retired earlier than the others and being that he needn't sleep as long as they did he naturally awoke long before the others. He decided to take a walk about town. He wandered about the town's few streets, surveying the damage the fires had caused and the stains of the blood that had been spilled. He took it all in with an emotionless expression behind his black masked face. But deep inside an anger was burning. An anger born of lost parents, lost mentors, lost youth and lost innocence. He wondered to himself 'why is there so much violence in this world? Why must innocents suffer? What can I do to put an end to this? As Leon he was a hunted man, but as Halcyon perhaps he could do some good.
He waited a bit for the shops to open for the morning and bought a few odds and ends. A small crossbow and some bolts, a new cloak, green with red trim, and ample amount of skin toned makeup.
He walked into the in, crossbow slung over his shoulder, but otherwise not adorned with his new acquisitions. "good morning." he said. "you're both up awfully early considering last night's festivities." He sat down with them and let his travel sack slump to the floor next to his chair. He caught the eye of the pretty waitress he'd tipped well the day previous and ordered a modest breakfast of fruit and toasted bread.

"Well, we've more than accomplished what we came here for." Ganner said, holding his fork in one hand and his knife in the other. "We got you fixed up, we found that my friends have moved on, and we saved the town from a goblin raid. And now I feel the road calling me. Time to move on to the next town. I just don't know which one yet." As Ganner was finishing speaking he heard something in the background. A small group of men were talking at a table a little ways off. "I hear things are picking up in the north." One man said. "Yeah, sounds like Garriston's in for a fight." Said another of the men. "Damn barbarians!" Yet a third man spat. "Can't stay in their caves and huts where they belong. They have to come down and raid the civilized folk." "Garriston's a strong city. And Lord Amish is a tough one. He and his soldiers'll give them damn savages a thrashing and send them back to their mountain's and their heathen spirit's." "Still, it's bound to be a hell of a fight." "Aye, that it is. A man could earn a good bit o' coin joinin' up to help fight for the cause up there." Ganner smiled. Seemed that the old adventurer tradition was still alive and well. "Tell me you both heard that too." He said to his companions. "Sounds like I'm headed north. I'm sure this Garriston could use a few good hired blades. What do you two say? Care to join me?" Ganner looked at the dwarf. "Alister? It seemed like you were just waiting out here for something to happen. And not only did something happen. Two somethings happened. We saved the town, and you met Hacyon and me. What do you say? Coming with?" Ganner turned to Halcyon then. "And you. I haven't known you long. But you seem like a man I could trust to watch my back. Mind coming with and making sure I don't sprout any blades there?"
((The "A" in Amish is pronounced like the "a" in bat or cat. Not like the "a" in watch."))

"Morning." Alister replied at Halcyon's greeting. He chuckled a bit at the man's statement. "As are you." he replied seeing that Halcyon was also up early. He thanked the waitress when she brought his meal a short while later.
He could hear the voices of the men who were speaking. Actually it was hard to not hear them as they were rather not making any real attempt to keep their voices low. He could see Ganner was also listening into their conversation. It seemed there was trouble up north.
Alister nodded when asked about the conversation. "Aye. Loud and clear." he replied. He thought about Ganners offer. "Well, the town seems fine now that the goblins are out of the way and because the small temple was cleansed there is sure to be more favorable weather to come until the last harvest." he said referring to the desecrated shrine to a wood goddess which was cleansed once the goblines were chased out. "And the towns people seem to be getting things under control. Sure I could use the company." he said holding up his mug.

"I can make sure arrows and clubs don't appear there either." Halcyon replied. "I've nowhere else I'm intending to go, so I can stay on with you for a while." He smiled a genuine smile.
