"Die already," Ariane grumbled, slamming her weapon against the creature. It immediately dissipated, earning a grin from her; it felt pretty satisfying to dissipate something, especially something that was annoying her... Plus she was already pretty annoyed from being woken up so suddenly.
After leaving her room, she headed for where she saw most of the Death division members heading.
Just as he said, the sucker darted out of the way after another shot. Sighing, Melvin looked at the mess his room was in. The alarm was still on and he didn't have time to mess with this thing. Sadly, he couldn't leave it running around and setting something on fire or tearing up his nice things.

You can only heal one target at a time. If you decide not to heal and use a Fear Charge for the turn, you may do so, those behave normally, same with Artifacts, Runics, Learned Abilities, etc. Distortion and Artifacts that normally boost your attack STACK with your Heals (accordingly) - Your HP is normal, but your attack power, after all results is HALVED - Special Effect: Full Heal Your special bonus heals for double (see above on how to "heal") on any ally being protected by a Warrior skill.
The shadow was looking a bit tattered and moving with less of a spring and a slower scurry. It was close, and Melvin just had to wait for it to get still to defeat it. He aimed again and managed to hit it in the chest, but it dashed again.

The shadowling didn't go far, and as it dragged itself away, Melvin aimed and blew off it's head. It vanished in a puff, and Melvin headed to the door. "Finally got that done. Now to actually see what this mess is all about."
He left his dorm, locked it, and headed out after a few other Lifers.

The dream was weird and highly reminiscent of the one he had involving crumbling floors and evil doppelgangers. By dint of that, Before opted for the staff.
Now see Before.
See Before flail.
See Before flail some more.
See Before smacking the shadowling around by accident.

Harrison didn't have to set an alarm in the mornings. Routine was something regular, and easy. He was clear-headed when he woke up, and drowsy at night, and tried to steer clear of the swing shifts. Once a week, he didn't sleep at all. Neither Rep or Jordan were morning people, but they accomodated him anyhow.
He kept the lights off, digging his workout clothes out of a drawer and filling up a bottle of water from the kitchenette sink. He always headed to the gym in the early hours, so he could start his day off right.
After that he had more medic duty, although Edith had cleared to start practicing in the field. The shifts weren't bad, but they and made him wish Rep was allowed in the infirmary for something besides being mangled or carting in people that had been. He was just used to working with him. Even if they were on opposite ends of the breaking and repairing s**t spectrum.
The gym was empty. He didn't usually have it to himself, but it happened every now and again.
Large mirrors lined the wall.
He started with the usual machine, and had done a couple of sets before he noticed his reflection hadn't sat down with him.
It was waiting patiently, hands folded behind its back.
"Not exactly state of the art s**t they've got you on, huh?" it asked.
It wasn't wearing running shorts, either. It had on a sharply tailored blue suit, short hair slick with product. He moved around to examine the other machines. "Bet you use public showers, too."
"I got my own room," Harrison said, suspicious. He released the weights slowly. They clacked with definitive emptiness into the gym.
It's him, B0nez said, excited.
"Yeah, well, at least you recognize me." The Other Harrison said.
An Other B0nez appeared, carrying a computer tower like a trophy, "You know they use an electronic security system to keep their...?" he paused, staring at Harrison like a deer in headlights. "It's him," he echoed.
"Both of them," B0nez and Other B0nez said in chorus.
"Jordan told us about you," Harrison explained, "him and Rep both."
"Warned you off us?" Other Harrison asked.
Harrison grabbed a towel, and wiped his neck, "Nah. Just told us. Said they killed you."
"Yeah, well, they wouldn't have known," Other Harrison answered, annoyed. "They couldn't see or hear for s**t. But I was there. ...I'm not mad. I pitied them, I guess. I just wanted my..." his voice faltered, "...last time I saw them, we were- hell."
He stepped forward, but ran into an invisible wall. The wall mirror wobbled.
"...I've been looking for you a while," Other Harrison said, "I got nowhere else to go. You got to take me in. We're the same, sorta, I mean, I come from you, far as I understand, and those guys...it's the only chance I got to see them again, so..." He put his palms against the mirror, feeling out the barrier, then slammed a fist into it.
"Come on," he said, looking at Harrison balefully, "We're so ******** close. Help me out."
Harrison joined him at the mirror, feeling it out. "Yeah, well. Since you asked so nice. And on account of us having a lot in common." The wall was flat. "...How are we supposed to do this?"
"I don't know," Other Harrison said, "last time you're the one that broke it. Maybe there's a...s**t, password, or something-"
There was a thunk. The tower clattered onto the floor, and the wall wobbled.
Both Harrisons gave each other a look.
Harrison retreated to dig out one of the weights.
"Here goes nothing," he told them. Other B0nez and Harrison stood back. He heaved it into his side of the mirror. It shook again, but didn't break. The idea didn't work in tandem, either.
"Check the wall for openings," B0nez suggested. "You two start from that end."
Nobody else had any better ideas.
They felt the mirror, floor to ceiling, but it wasn't until they both met in the middle of the mirror that their hands found something like a knob.
"Won't turn," Harrison said.
"Locked," other Harrison said.
Doesn't have a door, B0nez put in.
"But you could make one," Other B0nez observed eagerly.
Harrison pulled B0nez out of his pocket, looking at the USB for a long minute before it transformed in a flash of electric light into two pink, wicked-looking swords. He tested the edge of it on the glass. "...It's not gonna..." he started, unsure.
"It will!" B0nez said.
Harrison pushed. It was like using an exacto knife to cut paper. He made a long, thin line next to the knob. Then moved over, far enough for a person to walk through. Made another long, thin line. Then, standing on his toes, he connected them across the top. "Is that right?" he asked.
"Should be," Other Harrison said, trying the knob. Another pause. "I think you gotta open it."
It had to be doors.
But something in him wasn't much afraid of doors anymore. Harrison hooked B0nez's smaller blade to the waist of his shorts, then put his hand on the handle. No matter what happened, even if this was some kind of mindtrick...they'd come after him. They'd follow. He wouldn't be alone behind the door.
He turned the handle.
B0nez's blade glowed a sudden bright and startling blue...
He was dreaming.
But he wasn't fully in control. The fragments of his memories embedded into strange stain-glass like monuments around him were not quite real.
He fell-
-But not for long. Beneath him was a set of stairs, the only visible way of moving around. He felt himself involuntarily moving downwards.
The stairs were different, as was the stained glass, stylized versions of Jordan's history, of friends and family looking out of an endless void at him. But the choice at the end of the stairs was familiar - just reach, said instinct, and take what is right for you.
Except that Ferros was with him already, sleeping, and he wondered why he was being urged to choose a weapon. He wasn't in a pod. He was bonded, and he'd worked to get where he was. But there was no way out but forward, and forward, it seemed, required a choice.
He turned away from the crown. No. Not after all they'd gone through. The sword was the obvious choice - but it was the staff that called to him, appealing to his curiosity, his need to know.
His curiosity had always been his weak point.
The alarm jolted him awake, and even disoriented and groggy he sat up straight, adrenaline spiking through him and bringing him to full alertness in seconds. Harrison was snapping awake too, but Rep wasn't there; Jordan spared half a moment to worry about that, but then he spotted the shadowlings. "The hell are those things doing loose?" he yelped, but he was rolling out of bed and summoning Ferros in the same breath.
A shadowling skittered fearlessly over to clamp its teeth onto his ankle. He shook it off and brought the spiked end of the finial on Ferros's head down onto it, cursing under his breath. There wasn't enough room to swing the hammer properly in here, not if they wanted their possessions and furniture intact, and hell if he was risking wrecking the hard work Harrison had done on the bed.
Stormy was taking a nice long nap when the alarms blared. From insomnia to being wakened long before she wanted to? This was not going not be a good day. Really though, it was nice to for once look upon the shadowlings and not scream; too drowsy for it.
< < Time to showcase your training. > >
Right.
With a yawn she summoned the greatsword and casually sliced through a handful of them as she hopped off her bed.

Harrison had the same concern, the memories coming back in a rush of emptiness and concern, seeking, and all he'd wanted...
The alarms were urgent, the eyes flashing in the darkness.
B0nez was swifter and smaller than Ferros.
"I've got this one," Harrison said, cornering a puddle of shadow and bringing B0nez down like a flyswatter. "...Overflow from the Sun course?"
But the drowsiness, as much as it lingered, couldn't quite keep the fear at bay for too long. The trainee froze as more of them appeared, realizing the reason why this felt so deja vu-ish.
Kingdom Hearts. Disney.
Ohboyohboyohboyohboy!
Fear mingled with delight made for an interesting combo.

I'm admiring the fact that I'm playing in a video game kinda sorta.
The dracolich hissed. < < Not in the middle of battle, Hatchling! > >
She meant to retort that it had been unconscious fangirling okay, but that got cutoff as one of the creatures doddled over and scratched her. Okay fun time was not fun anymore.

Okay, quotes, quotes . . . Kingdom Hearts is light! she thought as her battle cry, swinging Thane to demolish the ring surrounding her in a burst of darkness. Weird that the Shadow Run course didn't keep them pinned in . . .
