Gabe slid the eggs onto the plates once he judged them done. "Hope those are the way you like them," he said. He gave her a slightly teasing smile at the sound of her stomach rumbling. "Gee, sounds like I should try to cook the rest of this faster!"

"Oh not too fast or you might end up burning the bacon. And that would be a national tragedy!" Vyth wasn't sure how people could eat bacon that literally snapped in half because it was so darn crispy. She liked a little bit of chew with her pork meats. It was a sin to burn such a tasty thing.
Holding onto the plates, she kind of just stood there for a moment. Eyeballing a nearby box she finally settled the plates down. Digging out some paper towels and covering the eggs so no buggies would get into them while they awaited their bacon compadres.

Gabe laughed. "Alright, alright, I'll be careful," he promised. He payed careful attention to the bacon, flipping it when needed, and when he judged it ready, he turned.
"Bring those plates over, I think this is done," he said.

Pulling the paper towels off, she scooped up the plates and scurried on over once more. Holding out the plates for him to settle the bacon on. Mouth practically watering. Not the most lady like of things, but this was bacon! It was hard not to drool at that delicious smell.
Then she remembered.
"Do...you don't think we'll draw any Sasquatches from cooking up this bacon do you?"

Gabe distributed the bacon, splitting it evenly between the two plates, and then set aside the pan. He frowned and considered.
"I don't think so. I've never heard that they're particularly attracted to bacon..."

Handing him a fork, she cut into her eggs. Letting the yolks run a little bit. "Yea but, remember that show I talked about yesterday? Where the guy said they liked bacon? What if it's true tho..." Gathering a bit of egg she shoveled it into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully before swallowing.
"I mean. I don't know if I would like to come back to see our camp trashed by Big Foot. That would kind of suck." And totally ruin the camping trip to boot.

Gabe frowned, sitting back to eat his own eggs and bacon. He chewed thoughtfully on a bite of egg, considering. "That's true....hmmm..." This was a genuine, serious issue, and it had to be considered. Bigfoot might mess up their camp.
"That would suck." Never mind just ruining the trip, Gabe would be pissed if a Sasquatch ransacked his campsite while he wasn't there ti see it and document it. "We should probably wash the pan, for one, to help cover the smell."

Vyth nodded rapidly. Gobbling down the rest of her food quickly to cover what smell her meal was adding to what was wafting out of their campsite. Quickly she grabbed the pan and took it over to a little plastic tub where she dumped some water in it and quickly scrubbed the pan and her plate. Washing Gabe's once he had ponied his up.
Dumping the water out into the dirt and bushes that surrounded their little camp. Soon she was off gathering all the things they would need for today and once she was sure they had everything she asked Gabe to put out their morning fire before setting off.
The next couple of days were pretty amazing. Hiking along the trails. Exploring caves. Nearly toppling their fishing boat over into the lake. Amusing times to be had. Plus all that boyfriend and girlfriend bonding.
But soon the end of their camping trip drew near. And as darkness of their last night out here in the wilderness blanketed the sky, Vyth found herself sitting in front of a large fire once again. Sipping at some hot tea she had boiled water for in the kettle that hung from their makeshift 'kettle hanger'.

Gabe had never had so much fun, nor been so happily exhausted, in his life. This camping trip was one of he best things he'd ever done. It had done its job of distracting him from any worries about powered life, or about home in general.
He was sitting next to Vythica by the fire. He sipped from his own mug of tea, leaning back and looking up at the stars. After a moment, he looked back at Vythica, smiling.
"Hey, Vyth? This has been really great," he said.

She cupped her mug with both hands, turning her head slightly as he spoke to give him a wide grin. "It has hasn't it. Almost sucks that it's the last night we'll be up here."
Soon it would be way too cold and snow would be blanketing the ground. It was almost a shame to leave such a lovely place. But alas. "We'll have to do something like this every year. Maybe when it's a bit more warmer and we've got a longer break."

He nodded, looking a little sad. "No almost about it...it sucks." Waiting back home was...well, home, with parents and classes and of course the war. Out here was peace and quiet and beauty and time spent with the most important person in his life.
"That's not a bad idea. Maybe start planning an annual summer camping trip," he agreed. That would be a good escape from the city, and something told him those would be more and more necessary for sanity.

Nodding, she leaned her head up against his shoulder. Closing her eyes as she savored the warmth of the fire and that warmth his body gave off as well. She would give everything up if they could just stay like this forever.
But sadly that just could not happen. They both had duties. And civilian lives to get back to. But at least she had comfort in knowing he'd be there on both sides of that fence.
"That would be nice. We could even go swimming in the lake with it warmer. Instead of the uh...almost cold ice bath we would have taken earlier." Vyth laughed, rubbing her cheek lightly against his shoulder.

He slid an arm around her shoulders, holding her close and savoring this beautiful moment. It wasn't often that something really, truly felt right, but this did, somehow.
"That definitely sounds like more fun," he agreed. Freezing by accident was not on his to-do list, thanks. Then, he turned his head, bending to kiss the top of her head. "I love you," he said. It seemed right, then.

Settling her mug of tea safely on the ground, Vyth wrapped her arms around his body. Leaning her head against his chest with a wide smile on her face. Her stomach fluttering and a light blush spread across her cheeks. This would certainly be one of her favorite weekends ever.
"I love you too."

He also set his tea aside, sliding his other arm around her. In lieu of saying anything that would sound hokey or corny, he leaned own to kiss her properly, eyes fluttering closed as he did.
