Crickets chirped into the cool night air as Liliana strolled into the training area. A rustling could be heard but at the sight of the nation's Lady, nothing came out into the training area proper. Liliana turned, looking Nokomis over. "Despite what anyone will tell you, no matter what happens you are your blood. You should always know what power you were born with. Because when all else fails you, it is that power that will still be with you. Now listen carefully." Liliana explained the three abilities she wanted Nokomis to learn first.

C [Must know Nightblade to learn; must be Adept rank] [An upgrade of Nightblade, the Vampire now grows a pair of large black bat wings from their back, which like its predecessor, is made of energy. These wings are sharp enough to cut through thin steel and is capable of blocking skills C rank and lower. While in flight, the user gets a +2 bonus in speed for three posts before the wings fall apart. When Expert rank, the wings last up to five posts and can block B rank skills, capable of cutting through steel easier as well. After the wings usage expires, there is a five post cooldown before they can be reformed.]
C [A disturbing technique of a vampire, mixing the air with its demonic energy, a vampire creates a "bloody mist" or Red Mist as the name implies. The surrounding area becomes blanketed with a red mist, which gives the effect of blood. The smell of it, the taste of it, the feel of it. The mist's role is to block out the sense of sight and smell for five posts while those who breath it in will feel like their swallowing blood. Those with sensitive noses or mouths will be more affected by this. This has zero effect on a vampire though, as well as machines and Ghouls.]
C [The user releases a pulse of aura from their body which covers the area around them to about 10ft. Anything within that radius with aura (basically energy above 100) will automatically send back a pulse, telling the user where he or she is and act accordingly. The duration of this technique varies with the rank of the user, as will the range. ] C = 10ft | 3 posts B = 15ft | 5 posts A = 20ft | 7 posts S = 25ft | 10 posts

Escher followed the lady to the training grounds of Ernya. He had wondered why they have arrived here. But in a few moments he knew what for. It would seem as though she was just trying the one he saw early in the palace. Escher placed his hands in his pockets and then would wait until the lady was ready. For now he would watch the woman's training
As Nokomis would start training, Liliana turned to Escher. "Thank you for taking the task Evvie gave you. But I must ask you one more thing before I can help you expand your knowledge. Are you willing to take on this task?"

Escher turned to Liliana. His eyes, turned yellow once again. He was curious. "Sure, If' I find this mission to be of benefit, that and I still need a place to stay." He said as he swapped his mountain gear for his casual clothes. "I'm ready when you are."
"You are free to stay in the capital, should you so choose to. Otherwise I'm sure some of the artisans from Aquamarine will help you build a house out in the woods of the land. As for the task," she looked back to Nokomis, "I regret to say it comes in two parts. First, I need someone to figure out the riddle Evvie has from a book translated at the palace. The second part comes when we know the first part."

Escher nodded. He was glad he now had a place to stay. In any case he would gladly accept this task. "Being in two part isn't a problem, it's what needs to be done to accomplish this task that may be the issue." He said turning back towards the palace. "I'll go help Evvie. If I could almost figure out the puzzle to and ancient secret from a titan, then this shouldn't be too hard." He said with a sense of confidence. His eyes turned back to a deep blue and headed back in the direction of the palace.

Speak of the Devil and he shall come. Rather to her the devil would be the prey she thought of earlier. The trek was from the supposed palace to the wilderness not too far off. As Nokomis followed, she took notice of the same soul signature following, seems the lady knew the Reaper. She couldn't help but also take note of the wild life she could sense. The opportunity to hunt was nigh but not at the moment.
The cover of night was also wondrous, even with the presence of the two bodies near her, she felt right at home in any pool of the shadows. Nokomis extended her arms out as the shadows wrapped around her as she coaxed them so.
Who can embrace the darkness like I? Perhaps I'll grow closer to it. Nokomis turned then as the seer spoke of her vampiric blood and dove into a few details of what her kind was capable of. An interesting set of abilities but albeit similar to her already known assortment of skills. The vampire took heed of thee specialized racial skills and she wove her hand once as dark black magic swirled then around her and she tapped her energy for the first skill. A sudden pulse shot out from her body then, translucent to her as she readied her magic. And then, just as sudden, another collective set of pulses were sent back like an echo and detailed everything around her in a ten foot radius.
Hmm.. A sensory skill, my senses are already keen enough to see someone's very soul. Maybe this will be useful, given in combat.
The next skill, one similar again to one of her already potent skills was an enhancement to her misting skill. With a wave of her hand, black and purple magic of her vampiric bloodline swirled around as she took a couple steps. Shadows rose up and engulfed her entirely for a moment while the black and red energy emitted out into a bloody fine particle mist.
About a couple feet away and from the other plane, Nokomis was shifted along the material plane to the Void itself and there she prepped the next technique. Like her nightblade skill, it was a batlike skill that would enable short term flight for her. From a portal forged from pure shadow, the vampire flew out and re-appeared in mid air, her cloak billowing in the air as two stark black, translucent wings forged from magic extending out from her shoulders, not visibly connected to her body.
Blood mist. Hmm... It'll help with escapes from potential hunters. These wings I cannot hold for long. She dropped down and the wings dispersed and she went into a low crouch as her cloak fluttered down from the flight before rising back up to her feet.
"That was a bit too easy might I say, they were very similar to my current skills."

Liliana nodded, turning away from the quickly vanishing form of Escher. "I know they are. But for you, things have a way of progressing to become more. So while certain skills may seem tedious because you know similar ones, they will have their uses." Liliana moved over to a fallen log, hand reaching out to feel for the dead thing as through it escaped her sight. Finding it, she sat down to watch Nokomis. "We look at your path, and your true master, next. Before you go to arms about how I know this information, remember what I am. Gathering information is second nature to me." She explained the first three of the Dark Avengers skills for Nokomis to practice.

Linger Rank C/Active A Dark Avenger may choose to linger in darkness after Shadow Stepping or Shadow Melding, granting them nearly full sensory perception (Sight, Smell, Touch, and Hearing) of the area and activities around them but remain intangible and undetectable as part of the shadow. The use of Blinding or Holy light on any shadow where a Dark Avenger is lingering will immediately thrust them into the Material Plane, disorient and blind them for 2 rounds, and bar them from using an of their Dark abilities during that time.
Transmute Darkness Rank C Drawing on their powers and the knowledge granted to them, a Dark Avenger is capable of giving form and mass to all manner of darkness and shadow. Transmute Darkness can be used on any shadow or dark area, limited to the range of the Dark avenger's Shadow Manipulation abilities. A Dark Avenger pays the cost of this skill every time they transmute another shadow, and may only transmute up to two shadows in a single post. The hardness and attributes of the transmuted darkness varies by rank, as listed below:
Trainee - Transmuted darkness gains the properties of rubber Journeyman - Transmuted darkness gains the properties stone Expert - Transmuted darkness gains the properties of steel Master - Transmuted darkness can only be broken by S ranked attacks or higher, or with a Strength of 10 Hero - Transmuted darkness can only be broken by SS ranked attacks or higher, or with a strength of 12 Legend - Transmuted darkness can only be broken by Holy light-based spells by a Hero ranked Caster, SSS ranked attacks, or with a strength of 15
Attempts to break free of transmuted Darkness using either brute strength or melee attacks requires a full post dedicated solely to breaking free. A Holy/Divine Light-based ability equal to or greater in rank than the Dark Avenger will render Transmuted Darkness back into an intangible state. Light-based abilities of lower rank than the Dark Avenger will drop the properties of the transmuted darkness down by one rank. This effect does not stack. Transmuted darkness may still shaped using Shadow Manipulation, as the material is still the stuff of darkness.The effects of this skill may be dismissed by the Dark Avenger, which can be done the post after Transmute Darkness is used at no cost to the Dark Avenger (except that the shadow cannot be manipulated until the post after the darkness reverts to its natural state) After 5 posts, transmuted darkness reverts to an intangible natural form. There is a six post cooldown that triggers after 4 Shadows are transmuted.
Vicious Wound Rank C A Dark Avenger shows no mercy in combat, and moves to mutilate and cripple their foes whenever necessary. In any post where a Dark Avenger is making a melee attack, they may activate Vicious Wound, paying its energy cost immediately. If the attack connects, the Dark Avenger twists and rips their weapon in their target's wound. The victim of a vicious wound sustains C ranked Bleed damage for 5 posts, or until the wound is healed. If the wound is not healed by the end of Vicious Wound, the target becomes sickened by loss of blood, and incurs a -2 penalty to their strength for the next 10 posts, or until they are healed. Vicious Wound has a seven post cooldown, and cannot be used on the same target as a prior Vicious Wound for 15 posts.

Mastery of her darkness, a skill accepted while she had been on the brink of death so long ago. Nokomis breathed out as she hissed at the mention of her abilities to gather information. It was unsettling of how one's sight could pry deep into you, yet she was no different with her own granted sight by the Void.
"It is hardly a path walked. More like forced upon me, all-seen-eye." She said in reply to the path she walks, a warrior of the Void. However she listened and focused her own thoughts on her power. Beneath the vampire's feet, her shadow shimmered like a pool of water as opaque darkness rose from it. It was transmuting the shadows around her form as she moved her hands to carress the power of the Void. [1/1] - Transmute
Such a gift. She realized as she relaxed her form and focused her being with the shadow with her meld. Her form blended in with the darkness and the plane known to those linked with the shadows of the Void. Now she could choose to linger in this darkness as perfect clarity of her senses remained in the present area of the material plane. 1/1 Linger
She stepped once forward then as she broke out of her shadowy form and back into the material plane. Both her swords drawn in each hand, she thrusted forward to mimic striking a foe before her as crackling black energy rippled along her swords. If her foe were before her, it would have been a double stab to the chest followed by the vicious rip of both blades perpendicular to one another. 1/1 V. Wound
Her blades were sheathed as she took in the knowledge of the three skills, cracking her neck in the meantime. "Interesting for someone to linger in there. I wonder how the Void seems to other people." she mused to herself.

"It is a nothingness, cold and endless. I have ended up in it a number of times through another's aid. And it not a place I wish to remain," Liliana explained. Liliana's gaze turned sharply, as though something unseen had caught her eye. "We have a few more things for you to learn and I think we should send you along to assist Escher once finished. I don't think he's going to realize the problem he'll face for the path he chose." Her gaze returned to Nokomis. "Fire burns in your blood. Bring it forth in lashing tongues to strike against another."

Cold and endless? Strange, she found comfort in her shadows. It gave her life when her's was at an end with the gift of the night hunter, or vampirism. She closed her eyes briefly remembering her distasteful past. So she felt her rage build up in her as she opened her eyes with a grip of her fists clenching tight. Her deep hatred broiled as she heeded the words of the woman teaching her these techniques. She had no formal training as she hissed out in anger at more resurfacing thoughts and moved her hands as a fiery glow came. Flames covered them now and she swung both her arms over her head as if hauling an imaginary sack of her shoulders. Two lashes of fire sliced into the air as she struck the ground and ended the spell as soon as she conjured it. As if fireworks, she snapped fire and sparks from the impact and she was left stunned from her initial rage. 1/1
Calm. It was long ago. She thought as she thought on what the woman said. Yes, that's what it was as she heard she would be assisting the one she saw earlier. Escher was the name. Funny, Nokomis hadn't paid too much heed to this man when he was here earlier.
"Fire does indeed, but I've no formal training in such an art. Only my rage has fueled that just now." she said with a reluctant hiss. She hated admitting a weakness but this is what it was. A weakness, something that could be fixed or die trying.

"It is not a weakness. It is a catalyst. You must hone it. Shape it. Control the flow and burn of it." Liliana rose from her seat, the reds that paint her skin glowing as fire crawls up her arms. "Even the calmest soul holds the spark to ignite an inferno." A fiery red enveloped her eyes as she stalked forward. "There is no weakness to it. Rage, hate, anger, pain. All can spark the fire you might need." The flames dancing around her extinguish all at once, leaving the slight smell of scorched grass in their wake. "There will be much you can learn when you can accept how your fire sparks. But for now, relax you mind so you may receive a bit more instruction. Then it will be time to put these things to the test."

No weakness? The feeling to incite fury into magic was something else that what she was used to. Nokomis watched the woman display the fire cresting her skin from the markings she saw -- she wondered further if this were apart of her own magic or coincidence. She remembered back at the swamp she also displayed these as well as apart of her power. Yet fury, rage and emotion was the one thing the vampire had little experience as a follower of the void has taught to be the exact opposite.
Strangely enough, she felt not fear but a sense of respect for the fire she conjured as Liliana walked forward and spoke words of wisdom. She held her hand out and tried to will fire forth as well, but nothing came forth. Pity. Perhaps my hate for my former family will fuel this power.
She folded her arms with the further instruction, she listened as it was bringing her knowledge of more skills. Concentrating, she focused her power on her back as black and red energy surged out now. It was simple as breathing for her as two wings were formed now. They splayed out over her body and she looked at each with a turn of her head.
Hmm... Interesting that I have not used this before. She thought, flapping them once as she lifted slowly off the ground, hovering slightly. Her magic swirled around her form still as she focused more on the power and pulsed it outwards. In fact she channeled much more than just one technique. The first was a particle mist as it radiated out from her form like a red fog much like a squid's ink escape.
The second she had sent out a pulse much like an echolocation. It relayed over the area as she hovered in the air as the red particle mist faded away. She felt the location of the woman before her with the energy of the pulse, yet she felt nothing in extreme detail. She touched down and willed the wings to fade away, shadows and black and red magic reforming into her body.
"Interesting skills, but what is it you mean by 'put to the test'?" Nokomis now asked, phrasing what she said earlier. "I feel using my magic will draw upon old hatred to my past, but who knows."
