((Pasha - Maze Sign-ups))

Melisande floated even farther back, arms still behind her. Suddenly the sun dappled grass below them was very interesting to look at. His tone wasn't helping. "Suggestion power?" She couldn't imagine it. Laz had always been very sweet and unassuming with her...or had he? Maybe he had just suggested it! Pasha made a little noise of concern, and twisted to look for the other Sigel. Hadn't he been at the grill?

"You...go out every month?" She sounded a bit wistful. Pasha rarely saw other Raevans. Once in a great while, out in town, or at events like these. That was it! "You must be very close. May I ask a favor, Rivener?"

The pink in her cheeks had faded. Melisande had recovered from the unexpectedly embarrassing conversation about torsos. She was careful, however, to look straight to the other Sigel's face. "Would you let me join you? Just for a while, next time you go?" Pasha was acutely aware that she was asking to tag along, but a night like Rivener was describing sounded like just what she needed.

"I would...owe you a favor, in return."

[[Rivener - Maze SignUp]]
(Tag to Pasha)

Rivener's eyes widened in disbelief before he could stop them, his mouth cracking into an amused grin. "You want to go drinking with me and Laz? Seriously?" He just could not for the life of him imagine Melisande drinking anything harder than a pepsi max or something. Still, if she wanted it, he had to admit it would be fun and entertaining to see what happens to the muse when she was intoxicated. IF she ever got intoxicated. For all Riv knew, she would have some odd resistance to the stuff like he himself. He laughed softly but hurried to respond before she thought he was laughing AT her: "I'm sure Laz would be alright with it, and I'd be happy to have you along too. You do know that we'll be drinking in a bar, right? Alcohol? Laz likes a lot of fruity, dainty drinks- I make fun of him all the time for it- so I'm sure he can help you find something you'd like." Rivener himself had pretty much given up on mixed drinks and usually went right for hard liquor on ice, now. It pretty much balanced him to Lazarus in terms of how quickly they got drunk.

"There's no need to owe me a favor for that. We'd be honored to have you along. Your phone number is on the Lab's list, then? I'll call you next time we go. Are there any nights you're not available?" Riv himself had quite a few nights when he was on call for work, but it never before occurred to him that SHE might work. Now that he considered it, if she had no guardian, she MUST work- how else would she have a place to live? Electricity? Food to eat if she wished, or even clothes? ...Come to think of it, what DID Melisande feed on, as a Raevan? Riv tilted his head, curious, but it felt impolite to ask about feeding habits. He'd settle for the other question then.

"Do you have a job? Where do you live, you must have to pay rent, right? Are you alright?" He still hadn't caught the person who'd stolen all his money, but he'd earned more since then- if she needed it, he could probably spare a good amount to help.

[Pasha - Maze Sign-ups]

The Muse couldn't help but laugh along with him. "I've never been to a bar, but I've had drinks! Just champagne, really..." She admitted, and tucked a curl behind her ear. "...but I would try whatever Lazarus orders. Nothing wrong with fruity and dainty." For a moment, she adopted a serious expression, inclining her head before her smile broke through again like the sun burning through clouds.

"Thank you. And...no. My number has changed." Melisande leaned in and whispered her new number, offering to repeat it if the other Sigel didn't catch it the first time though. She offered no explanation as to why her number posted on the Lab's list wasn't accurate, or why she felt the need to say it so quietly.

"I work at a cafe', near the park. My house isn't far from there." She glossed over rent, and the rest of Rivener's questions. How could she explain that it was Aria's manor, and she had been accepted as the Diva herself? It even made Melisande uncomfortable when she thought about it. But she made her own money, and the Sigel was proud of that fact.

"I'm free any night after 9, except for Fridays." Again, she didn't express a reason why, but Pasha managed to look a little apologetically uncomfortable.

"Do you? Have a job?"

(( Laz - BBQ Grill, Tag to Ebs ))

The magic of the smoke was amazing, he could practically see the blood coming back into Cordelia's cheeks as she fed. He stopped fanning the smoke after a while and set the paper plate down to a side, just happy that he helped.

The question came rather suddenly, perhaps it has to do with her paleness just a moment ago. The Sigel made a thinking face as he considered his answer. Perhaps he and Xiu are beyond the stage of best friends now, at least he would like to think so, although he doesn't know what Xiu thought about their relationship. So using Xiu as a reference is moot in this case. What about Rivener? His brows frowned at the thought. No, kissing with Rivener is just... wrong. So, so wrong.

"Uhm..." Lazarus began, still feeling a bit unsure. "I'm not sure I'm the right person to be answering your question. But I guess it depends on how you felt after the kiss? Do you feel it was right, or wrong?" Their conversation was interrupted as the caterer lady came by and swooped two pieces of beef off the grill. Lazarus had to scoot aside as she butted her small frame in. Now it's just two more left grilling on the BBQ grill.

"Anyways." He continued when the caterer cleared their earshot. "If you're feeling confused, maybe you should go and ask him... or her, about it. Talk it out or something." Well he and Xiu could be together, so he should not automatically assume the person who kissed Delia was a guy, right?

[[Rivener - Maze Signup]]
(Tag to Pasha)

Rivener leaned down to listen when she leaned up to whisper, and the scent of flowers assaulted his senses. He wasn't sure if it was those blossoms in her hair, just perhaps her hair itself, but something smelled heavenly. It was both intoxicating and sobering at once: flowers made him think of Zul, and yet here he was admiring someone else. It's a lady, it doesn't count as cheating. And it's not cheating at all anyway! I can appreciate beauty when I see it, that doesn't make me a cheat. Considering his chances at stealing a kiss, though, was. Frowning at himself, rather disappointed that he was still acting like a Frei when he'd been doing so well at being faithful since he and Zul had agreed to be an item, Riv had to ask for the number to be repeated. He'd been distracted the first time. And of course when she leaned in close, again the flower scent, and his mind nearly derailed a second time. Sheer willpower kept him on track, and this time he did remember it.

He should have brought his damned cell phone, he could have just save it there.

When he straightened, it occurred to him she hadn't answered his question, really. She did have a place to stay, she did work so she made some money of her own, but she hadn't said if she was alright. Riv's lips pressed together stubbornly, ready to press for more, but she suddenly turned the tables on him and he balked.

"Ah, uh. ...Yeah. I do. Pays very well! Kind of bouncer work. Security. I work mostly evenings and nights, but usually if I tell them in advance, I can take a night off." She certainly wouldn't like knowing the gritty details, so Riv grinned and inclined his head, turning the tide back towards her. "So what do you do at that café? Do you actually MAKE coffee? Are you a... what's it called, a barrister? Barista? Borista? You know, the coffee-making person." He flushed a bit at not knowing the word, but laughed it off with a self-deprecating shrug before continuing. "Coffee is one of my favorite flavors. I know we Sigels don't HAVE to eat human food, but I still drink coffee almost every day."

((Delia – BBQ))
((Tag Kyou))

Had it been wrong of her to ask such an intimate question of him so suddenly? He was so quiet that Cordelia felt she must have and thus, albeit slowly, the girl brought her hands down from her face. She was relieved though to find that the demon wasn’t judging her, but rather was contemplating the best answer to provide her with. This small action alone spoke volumes to Cordelia, brightening up her mood already.

Her hopes were dashed quite quickly afterwards though when Lazarus suggested that he might not be the right person to ask such a question. Yet whom should she ask then? Riven? Zul? Perhaps even Ebby or Adrian? She didn’t really feel comfortable with the latter, even though she had a hunch that her grandfather already knew somehow. Despite that and Ebony’s tip-toeing nature when it came to things like this, she’d probably freak anyway if she found out, Delia felt it was a Raevan matter and she should seek counsel from her own.

How did she feel? The basilisk frowned as she moved a bit out of the way for some speeding human that Laz was trying to let at the grill. Once the woman was gone, Cordelia just sighed, “If I knew how I felt I wouldn’t be asking. Like…” She closed her eyes, really trying to find some kind of ground she could work on from that night, but it was hard. “…it didn’t feel right, but it didn’t feel wrong either. Like I wasn’t disgusted by it, but I wasn’t overjoyed either? Does that even make sense?” The snake shook her head, her long, loose hair gently swaying from the motion. No, of course that didn’t make any sense. There was something wrong with her obviously.

Her floating height started to drop a little, an obvious sign to how much this issue was starting to weigh on her mind. “If it were anything else I probably would, but this…I just can’t!” She hadn’t meant to raise her voice like that it was just when faced with the idea of having to talk to the cobra about this, the smoky Frei blanched. Who knew how he would react, especially when there was that other side of him to consider as well now. “I mean…things are hard for Basil to understand sometimes. So if I go to him without a clear answer, he’ll likely take it the wrong way. I don’t want to hurt him. I love him! But well…” Cordelia’s passion died down as she looked away from Lazarus and played with the hem of her dress again. Her last words came so quietly you’d think she’d never said them. “…he’s always been like a brother, so I don’t know if I can be in love with him…”

Melisande shook her head, and several curls worked loose, framing her face along once side. "No...I sing." She suddenly looked a bit shy. The Muse loved to sing for people...their rapt enjoyment fueled her in a way that nothing else did. But it felt strange telling Rivener about it. Perhaps it was because she couldn't imagine him there, listening along side them.

"Dinners, at L'oiseau chanteur. The Songbird." Pasha had the grace to blush. Alain had renamed the Plaza Cafe' for her. "I've never had coffee!" She'd never heard the word 'bouncer' before, but security made sense. She could imagine that. Pasha smlied, and dropped her eyes to her fingertip. It was still sore. She gave her fingers a flick, trying to get rid of the tiny pinpoint of pain. Holding the glass of iced tea might have helped, but a quick peek at the tables told her that it wasn't where she'd left it.

"Ready for the maze? Or...would you like something to drink?" They'd been under the shade of the young trees for a while. She hadn't meant to make such distance between herself and the others!

(( Laz - BBQ Grill, Tag to Ebs ))

Lazarus listened closely as Delia talked, still darting his eyes towards the beef every few seconds. However went she mentioned Basil's name, his eyes went wide and the tongs slipped a little from his hand. Thankfully he did not drop them to the floor.

"Basil kissed you?" He blurted it out, assuming that was the case since Delia was the one in conflict. Well this was unexpected. The fire Sigel felt a bit estranged from the rest of the Raevan community now, since he didn't know at all that Cordelia and Basil are friends. Now that he think about it, he didn't know about every Raevan's friend relations at all. Still, due to his dislike for the... unpredictability of Basil, he doesn't have a good impression of him. And this led him to feel defensive for Cordelia for putting her into such a position. Then again, he should have a level head about the situation since Delia mentioned he was like a brother...

...and now he's in conflict too.

"Uhm, never mind that." Waving the tong, he tried to dismiss the awkwardness of his reaction just now. The fire Sigel paused for a moment before continuing. "You know the best couples sometimes started as best friends. I think you should go talk with Basil, maybe you could give it a shot. If you don't try, you'll never know if you care for him that way. If it doesn't work out, just give it a clean break or something." That might sound like total bull or just plain cheesy to the Frei's ears, but he's not sure what other advice he could give.

"Oh have you signed up for the maze yet?" He said as he noted the time, it's going to start in a little less than ten minutes. Also in an attempt to change the subject a little. "Do you have a partner?"

"Oh... Ohhh is a maze!" God, he felt retarded! Corn... Yeah, they were having a corn sign up, because that made total sense! "So this sign up thingy is fer a maze, like with th'winding uhh paths... an' stuff." It wasn't the most eloquently put description, but the older man did the best he could with what he had.

"Is th'sign up jes fer raevans?" He wondered if Sevilin wanted to join in on this. He was really smart with this kind of questy, puzzley, intellectual s**t.

---

After a beat, Sevilin's blank face blossomed into a soft smile and he nodded. "I believe so. You're Iorek, right?" The sea fairy had always been good with stockpiling information without much effort. Names and faces came easy to him. "I think we have. I'm Sevilin! Nice to meet you again!"

(( Anita and Cruz - Entering --> Buffet (Cruz) --> Maze Sign Ups (Anita) ))

The crocodile Frei's hands rested upon the cool glass of the car window while his eyes watched his woman's subtle movements in the popped trunk. Car rides were certainly not his favorite thing in the world, especially after the debacle with Eiry, but he was beginning to warm up to them. They certainly were convenient. Cruz couldn't imagine humans having to walk all of the great distances they cross by way of these vehicles but he figured it would be pretty tiring.

"Whew," Anita sighed, pulling out a medium sized box with images of bottles and glasses filled with red liquid on the sides, "I'm sure they'll appreciate this." She winked to Cruz while crooking the box under an arm and closed the car's rear lid. As he floated to her side, there was a soft beep and clicking from the car, a 'safety feature' he still had not gotten used to.

Eyeing the box with mild scrutiny, Cruz grumbled, "Nita... what is it?" A single claw gently rapped upon the top, making a dull noise. It was cardboard.

"It's wine," she took a moment to adjust the box as they walked so it wouldn't bunch up her long top, "We didn't have time to make anything like for Halloween so I thought they'd appreciate some extra drinks." Aside from the Raevans, Lab events hardly ever seemed open to minors and at all of the previous events she had been to there were alcoholic drinks available. Just as well, the invitation had come off as a bit classier than any of the other occasions she had attended, so wine came to be the choice over beer.

To go along with the more refined atmosphere of this year's function, Anita and Cruz had decided to dress accordingly. Her long, curly hair was in a single braid over her shoulder instead of the trademark two. A short green dress was used as a top along with a pair of light Capri pants and sandals. No rings or jewelry were worn, but her hair was tied with a dark green ribbon that matched Cruz's hair. The Frei had changed his attire up a bit as well, removing the wraps from his forearms and replacing them with long pale blue ribbons that Anita had lovingly tied for him. Over his usual top was a royal blue and silver lined sleeveless top and the golden shoulder piece had been left at home. On his neck, too, was a matching ribbon, as well as one keeping his hair up in the usual high ponytail. It was accidental but he seemed to match the decor of the party quite well, not to mention with all of the ribbons on him he resembled a freshly wrapped gift.

As they navigated through the garden party, Anita's eyes scanned the crowd for familiar faces. Even compared to the Halloween party, this get-together seemed a lot more subdued with a smaller attendance (particularly when compared to the beach parties). It was calm and relaxing, a nice change of pace from the hectic excitement Lab events typically brought. Cruz floated after Anita as she came upon the great buffet area. There were a lot of wonderful looking dishes around and he knew she was hungry even without her stomach whining; she had eaten a very small breakfast, likely saving room for all of the foods she expected would be present. When she found an empty space on what appeared to be a table reserved for pot luck, she set the wine box down and inspected it, giving the stopper a quick spritz on the grass to make sure everything worked.

"There," she cooed triumphantly before looking back to her charge, "If you see anyone you know, you can go on over. Just don't leave the area without me, okay?" Anita gestured to the space that encompassed the party, which did not include the path they took from the parking lot, and Cruz nodded with a smile and a soft throaty rumble.

Giving his shoulder a quick, affectionate squeeze, she turned around to inspect the party area herself. Everything was so gorgeous, Lab 305 really knew how to throw a gala! In her peripheral, Anita spotted a small pedestal with a book on it and a trimmed sign that read "Garden Maze". Was it a sign in sheet? Oh, of course, a lot of fancy parties had that sort of thing to keep track of their patrons. "I'm gonna go sign us in, okay Cruz?" another rumbled response came from the croc and she nodded, heading over to the book. A few Raevans were hovering around it, conversing, but they didn't seem to be paying any mind to the book itself so she figured her presence wouldn't be interrupting anything. All the same, when she passed by them she gave a cheerful "S'cuse me~" and took the pen. There were a few familiar names already written on it, in particular a Miss Axel Halkias, which made her smile. With a steady hand, she wrote Anita Bishop and Cruz on the sign up sheet as neatly as possible despite the awkward angle of the book. With that done, she politely excused herself from the Raevans once more and began her return to the buffet area.

(Tags to Vivi, Cesc, Xiu, We'rika, Havain)

Though Zurine was listening to Havain politely, with a slight look of utter boredom on her dainty pale face behind the oversized sunglasses, it wasn't until Vivi accosted her that she brightened. After all, she didn't know him! And since everyone had abandoned her, she was just doing her best not to mope a bit, feathers drooping in the heat. "Vivi!" She was much warmer than usual, not projecting her usual air of frigidity, but she was smiling now, her usual small, genuine expression of delight. She returned the little air-kisses, gleefully. "I'm meeting people... Rivener gave me these." Wiggling her sunglasses, she gave a little pleased wriggle. "But it is still too hot."

"Mn! Yes. It's a maze," Phiel arched a brow, puzzled by We'rika's reaction. "I think anyone can do it, though...

((Leo & Ethiriel – seating area; tag to Ravi, Aphi, and Ebony))

Disappointed that they weren’t staying, Leo nodded. ”That works for me,” he announced, adjusting himself so that most of his weight was shifted to one leg. As Zeke spoke to Ethiriel, the photographer allowed his attention to drift to the BBQ and sign up areas, looking for his company’s respective Raevens. There were so many of them around, many more than he remembered seeing at the beach, but eventually he was able to spot the ones in question. He was surprised by their appearances, yet at the same time he knew that they were like humans, in a way. Everyone was different. ”Stunning,” he said, especially about Rivener. Cordelia could almost be mistaken as human, but the scorpion was quite a sight.

Ethiriel, however, kept her attention on the wild haired Raver. Closing her eyes, she offered him a quick bow. ”I apologize. You have such a wonderful name, I find… it strange that you would shorten it so…” she hummed, lifting herself. Clasping her own hands, her fingers knit together, ”Give Lady Anascacia my regards, and… let her know her company is truly missed.” Surely, she had missed the company of another Raeven. While Luka had been her only other companion, Leo had been so busy that no one had time to come visit, nor was she able to go out.

”I think that means Ethiriel’s up for a get-together soon, Zeke,” Leo laughed, extending his hand out for another shake. ”I’m sorry you can’t stay long, but tell Anya I also said hi.” Once again, he turned his attention to Ebony and Aphismet. It was interesting, just how different the owners of Raevens were. Even more so than random strangers you would meet on the street. ”It’s nice to meet you guys, really. What do you do for a living?” With their wild hair colors, Leo couldn’t even begin to imagine.

((Tag Kyou // Tag Aphi, Neon, Ravi, Arana))

Cordelia jumped a little at Lazarus’s outburst. She hadn’t been expecting him to react so strongly at hearing it was Basil that had kissed her. Maybe she shouldn’t have said that? The thought only grew stronger as she watched the fire Sigel try to wrestle his emotions into check. Delia frowned, a natural urge to come to the cobra boy’s defense bubbling up within her. She knew he wasn’t exactly people’s idea of normal, but that didn’t mean they needed to think so poorly of him. Yet this made her wonder whether what she was doing was any better. Didn’t she feel the need to come to Basil’s rescue all the time because she didn’t think he could take care of himself? The thought made her sad, thinking that she was probably worse than everyone else.

Despite what feelings he may have held towards the glass Raevan, Lazarus was trying his best to help Cordelia and for it the basilisk was very grateful. No matter what she knew she would have to talk with the cobra at some point about what had happened, but she was still a little reluctant to do so. Basil she might be able to explain if she did so slow and as clearly as possible, but what would she do if that other, more hostile side of him suddenly appeared like before? She was able to manage him to a point last time, but that was most likely just luck on her part. For a brief moment Cordelia thought about bringing the subject up with Lazarus, yet remembering how he’d reacted just a moment prior by just hearing the boy’s name, the basilisk thought otherwise.

Taking the hint that he was longer comfortable discussing this matter, Delia gave a soft smile of appreciation and answered, “No I haven’t, but I think I saw Ebby over there earlier, so she may have signed me up already. “ The girl gave a light laugh. “If you’re done here we can go over and check.” If Ebby hadn’t partnered her up with someone already, Cordelia wouldn’t mind pairing up with the Sigel. It’d be fun, like last time at the beach, except no large bodies of water thank goodness.

Ebony couldn’t help the smile creeping onto her lips at Ethiriel’s words. Finally! Someone else that appreciated the proper usage of names! “I am so glad to hear you say that Ethiriel. Perhaps if you meet my Cordelia you can explain it better than I. She absolutely insists on giving most people nicknames.”

Turning to the metallic girl’s guardian once more, Ebony’s smile brightened even more. Perhaps Aphismet was right. Maybe she was glowing just a bit at her new job. Or maybe it was just at the fact of being free to share it with others. “Oh I work for a wedding planner right now. What about yourself?”

(Tag to Pasha / Tag to Neon, Ebony)

Rivener raised an eyebrow and smirked when she said she sang for a living. That was so her, the same way he felt his own job was very him. Did all Raevans end up doing a job that reflected them? Or had they both just been lucky? "I'm sure it's lovely to hear you. And you've never had coffee?! Well that's just a giant unacceptable shame! You absoluely HAVE to try some. I'm very ready for that Maze, but we can head over when it looks ready to start; for now, we need to find you some coffee to try."

Taking the lead, Rivener floated to the drinks area with arrow-straight purpose, pausing only to make sure Melisande was following. He doubted there would be hot coffee at a summer garden party, but there had been ice tea... Perhaps chilled coffees were being offered? Red eyes scoured the available beverages... Nothing? Rivener sighed, wings drooping slightly. He'd been looking forward to having some for himself now that he'd mentioned it! "I may be blind, but I don't see anything coffee-flavored. Do you?" Perhaps she'd notice something that he missed.

----

Aphismet chuckled at Ebony's comment about nicknames. Aphi himself didn't mind one way or another, but Ethiriel's prim way of speaking was just adorable. The white-haired man wondered how Rivener would like the lovely, dainty girl.

Phiel's question drew his attention then, as did Ebony's answer. Again she seemed so happy to say what she did for a living, able to finally just admit to it up front instead of dodging the question. Aphismet himself gave a warm, friendly grin. "I'm Sous-Chef at the Crystal Carafe, a restaurant on the top floor of Durem Hotel. And yes, please do tell, what do you do?"

Since it had been a long time since they had seen each other, so long Reks couldn't even remember his name, they had lots of catching up to do. "We haven't spoken in so long! What have you been up to?"
