[Yuri + Jason]
The girl took the card, but instead held it up about face level and seemed to try to read it.
Nope
She couldn't make any of it out.
"It's nice to meet you Jason Patrick... my name is Ivory Woods. And... this is probably going to seem like a strange request... but do you have any of these cards printed out in larger font?" She turned the card to flip what she assumed was the text side towards the man who had just given her the card.
"Much larger..." Having such business cards wouldn't do her any good if she couldn't read it in the case of a potential crime related emergency.

'Just really great friends' wasn't a phrase that Tambrey thought would be fooling anyone... and that included the two of them; Rory and Ally. She simply nodded again in response to Kratos' observation about things happening whenever they were ready; she wasn't feeling the same worry about it being a trap, or if she was, it wasn't at the forefront of her mind. The grunt seemed, perhaps, still a little bit awkward about the whole thing, but she wasn't on edge. Ally's action got her eyebrows to rise, as she found herself surprised by it, but looked to Rory as his reaction would be the truly interesting thing from that.

[Kunai]
Catherine's observations were proceeding normally; no one had made any moves to engage the wallflower of a woman, so she was able to note more than she had expected she might. She had observed various blossoming drama between various individuals - many of those individuals exclusively Rockets, which seemed rather silly given that they were teammates, but she supposed living together on a day-to-day basis would give rise to some tense relations. Couldn't expect everyone to always get along, after all. Honestly, though, very little had transpired in the way of substantiating a report. The only thing notable so far was the distribution of the business cards, but even that barely qualified. All that could be gleaned was that the League was either desperate for any assistance it could gather or they expected some trainers of great merit to be in attendance. It was hard to say which, knowing as little as she currently did about the region's trainer culture.
When her observations were finally interrupted, the interrupter would find the woman's eyes damp with tears, her blank expression somehow forcedly stoic. Catherine was accustomed to seeing people in costume, and she didn't miss a beat when her superior addressed her. The enthusiastic greeting indicated that they were friends, but they likely had not been expecting to meet. Forcing a polite smile to her lips, she brushed passingly at her eyes, "Hey, fancy meeting you here." Her part, she had decided, was that of a woman stood up for a date, and she appropriately jumped at the opportunity for catharsis, "Brandon, that jerk, he never showed. I've been just standing here this whole time like some kind of idiot." She laughed pitifully at herself, though the meaning of her words was there: She had been observing the event roughly since it began without interference.

[Ally, Tambrey, Kratos]
He hadn't expected her to grab him by his tie but it didn't surprise him too much that she did. This was Ally after all. He was surprised, however, when he felt her lips against his.
If his blood supply wasn't already completely in his cheeks, it was now as he returned the kiss. The knowledge that they were surrounded by people, that they were supposed to be observing their surroundings, and that one of Rory's friends was right there next to them seemed to disappear as his right hand came up to cup Ally's cheek.
He was the first one to pull back, slightly breathless now. There was a slight grin on his face as he adjusted his tie and the lapels of his jacket. He cast a shy glance over at Ally.
Well that's new.

(Seto)
The kid released the CEO from her embrace as he spoke, glad he had seemed to have calmed down a little. Emotions were something she knew and likened to water. With her moods being as fickle as the ocean waves, she was more than aware of the danger that came from allowing it to build up. Collect enough, and the carefully-constructed dam made to control one's feelings would come crashing down, destroying everything in its path.
It seemed that for now the man was still filling his inward dam of emotions, but at least the raging waters that threatened to overflow had subsided a bit. The reservoir was still dangerously full, but at least the surface had calmed. Now it was much less likely for Kaiba's emotions to slosh about and spill over the edges like it had when he'd yelled at her before.
That didn't mean she could abandon all caution, of course. Clearly, talking about it wouldn't help because she could tell the man didn't value her opinion on a subject he doubted she was very knowledgeable about. The topic would just drive him deeper into his misery.
But maybe if she could dig a small trench and divert some of that emotion out of the dam and relieve some of the pressure, maybe it would help. What he needed was distraction. Diversion. Something that wasn't stressful and kept him from thinking about couples. Too bad there were so many stupid people thinking that dates were required for a formal event...
"Do you...want to go somewhere else?" she asked. Business people were always expected to be on their best behavior and stay sociable at all times. That seemed like the last thing Mr. Kaiba needed right now, though. Tymiko wondered vaguely when the last time he had allowed himself to just be himself was.
Ty knew a person or two in the business world. She had learned somethings about traditional families and duties that heirs had to family companies. If the girl remembered right, Kaiba Corp. was one of those family companies passed on from generation to generation. She couldn't let the tall man allow himself to feel like he was abandoning his duties as a CEO by fulfilling his own needs. Better to let him consider those needs to be Tymiko's instead. He could tell himself he was just helping her out by getting away from all of this.
"This place is boring. Everyone's just standing around and talking. And all the lights make it hard to see the stars." She looked at him. "Want to come look at them with me? It's kind of dark and I don't know if I should go too far by myself." Nevermind that she loved the thrill of imagining what could be lurking in the shadows, ready to attack before getting cut down by her sword. A sword she didn't have with her, anyway.
(Repede, Mako, Pinkie Pie, Opal)
As the kid with the tail wandered about the premises, he spotted a small group of colorful pokemon. Raising a brow, he walked toward them, not bothering to approach them directly, but not really hiding himself either. It appeared he just wanted to watch to see what they were doing.

[Izaya, Faleen]
"Pardon me." It was politely said, with a trace of 'uh.. guys?' A shortish man in a blue suit had come up behind Izaya and Faleen, holding a quarter-full champagne glass in the fingers of his right hand, and was by all appearances waiting for access to the punch just behind them.

Dith gave a short laugh, reaching up to touch the unfamiliar garment (did cravats count as garments?) and shrugging. //Seems that it does, yes. I was taken shopping by some of my young friends, I was told to stand still and be quiet while they talked to the tailor. It seems to have come out well though so I'm not about to complain about it... and it does suit me better than ponies I suppose, yes; maybe I should make more of an effort more often. Not to the point of wearing a suit and cravat like this around the city during that day, that would just be weird. Nearly as weird as following a woman lone woman you don't know down a street.// That had been a pretty stupid thing to do, but it had turned out pretty well in the end; it was good to have at least on friend in Kodo over the age of thirty.... At least he was pretty sure she was thirty or a bit over, he'd never actually asked.

[Xander]
The ghost of a smile tugged at Frost's lips and he inclined his head slightly to the taller blond as he turned to face him. "Not to worry, you are here now and that is the main thing. I was not waiting very long in any case." So now what was he supposed to do? "Um. So the logistics of organizing this event must have been quite something don't you agree?"

[Izaya, NPC(forgothisname) ]
While his smile might have faded, the subtle smirk on the Agent's lips only grew. An Absol was certainly a powerful pokemon, and one that was dangerous enough without it being something of a problem. The defect that Izaya claimed that it had intrigued her, but it was joined with something of a frown. "Hmm... I see. Well, there are ways to work with or around the defect if the pokemon is really worth it. I'll have to see what you are talking about. I knew someone before who had an Umbreon with a behavior she called a defect, It was perfectly workable, sadly the trainer wasn't nearly as patient with the pokemon or focused as she needed to be." her lips thinned, implying that the results were not to the pokemon's favor, or maybe just Faleen's favor.
"I will take a look at him later," She finished, taking a drink from her cup. "I would like to meet this team your are building."
The gesture over her cheek was unexpected, and seemed to take the agent by surprise, but she didn't react much other then a perplexed glance and a couple of blinks. She wasn't so sure how much she believed his words, Izaya was usually the one that was in ten places at once, and interacting with as many people as he could. She wasn't sure why, for the time being, he was so willing to stay in one place. "... Ah, alright." She replied, still a little taken aback, but she just shifted her puzzlement replaced with a more calm demeanor. she opened her mouth to say something more, when a voice behind them caused her to turn, arching her eyebrows as she spotted a man in a blue suit speaking to them.
"... Good evening, Sir." she spoke, politely, shifting her stance to face the man, spreading the fan in her hand open. "Was there something we could help you with?" as polite, and poised as what might be expected from high class.

[Luke, Emil, Sera,]
She glanced up at Luke when he asked her opinion, arching her eyebrows before she leaned over and peered down at the card herself. That confirmed it, he was the league. "So they're going to be taking a bigger stance." She noted, speaking, as if to herself.
she straightened up, and looked around the event, at all the people, the trainers, and other people who seemed to be treating this as very business like. "Well, this is a good thing... I think that maybe we should send them an e-mail, or talk to them tonight... I mean we know stuff. we've had experience in Kodo with Team Rocket." She looked at her friends, and the timid looking Emil. "We've been wanting this for so long."

(Faleen, Weidman)
"I'm thinking he's worth it, because when he concentrates, he listens to me the best out of all my pokemon so far. Aside from the one Aila trained, that is. He even listens better than Celty, who doesn't yet seem to hate me, but doesn't really like to engage in combat either." Izaya raised his brows at the mention of an Umbreon with a defect. "Oh? Mind me asking what she thought was wrong with it?"
He smiled into his cup as he took another drink. At least they had more of a reason to spend time working together as partners instead of individually on grunt and agent work. The team he was building...hmm. It was like a structure that needed to be reinforced. Every pokemon had a different part to play, but he had to find the chinks and weaknesses in the structure before it would be solid enough for him to put his confidence in. Once again he was grateful he had such a specialist to help him.
Laughing a little at the astonished reaction Nakura had elicited from Faleen, he waved a hand casually, signalling that she didn't have to take him seriously with that last comment. It had been worth it for the look on her face, though. So he hadn't managed to resist that nagging urge after all; instead of a playful compliment toward the young woman, he'd ended up displaying an equally teasing gesture. It was just good to know she was the same old Faleen he'd remembered from before she'd gone on the last raid.
"Oops! My apologies," Izaya chuckled, realizing he was blocking access to the beverage table behind him. He stepped aside to get out of the way, moving closer to Faleen. He glanced at her briefly, amused by her acting, before turning back to the gentleman going for the punch. "Actually, I think I saw him earlier before most of the guests began to arrive, dear," he told Faleen, putting an arm around her. "He might very well have had a hand in all this." With his free arm, Orihara gestured to the pavillion, music, food, and lights surrounding them. "Quite an atmosphere."

"Just a half-step to the right," the man replied, indicating the beverage table behind them. "Not to interrupt a lovely couple like yourself." As Izaya moved aside he moved in to refill his champagne flute.. with punch. "Enjoying your evening? They've put on quite a welcome for us."
[Dith]
Nadja laughed. //I've met men in stranger ways,// she informed the man with a wry little smirk. //But I agree. Clothes make the man-// The redhead paused to sip from her champagne flute and added, //-to an extent. Are your young friends in attendance tonight, or are you their sartortial representative?// The question was accompanied by an inquisitive tilt of her head that sent the edge of her bob brushing the line of her jaw.

[Ivory and Yuri]
"Very good question, sir!" the guard/server responded with cheery optimism. "But this is the League, after all. They've dealt with those Rockets in other regions, I'm sure they'll know what to do about them in this one. One of the officials is due to make an announcement sometime this evening, from what I hear."
Jason then turned to give a worried but apologetic smile to Ivory. "I'm sorry, miss, but I don't know if they do... However, I can check and find out, if you would like."

//Really?// Dith's eyebrows raised, //You'll have to tell me about it sometime.// She had a nice laugh too. She was... she was a lot of things. One of the things she was, was recently out of a serious relationship; anything that might be bubbling in the back of his mind could stay there.
//Most of my friends are around here somewhere,// Dith went on, not missing a beat despite the thoughts fluttering around in his head. //I think they're... sort of hanging around with people around their age though. They'd probably appreciate an evening off from me, and it might do me some good too.// That wasn't an excuse to spend the evening with her, not really; if she had other people to meet up with he was happy enough to head off and mingle with people he didn't know. Still, would be nice, he hadn’t seen her in ages.

[Tymiko]
The girl's psychological trick seemed to work for Seth looked at her with a frown. "Fine," he said, before rising to his feet, sounding as if he had some sort of obligation to go when he really didn't. He had to fight a bit of dizziness but the nausea was starting to fade, although the headache still throbbed dully in the background.
He needed a breather, to get away from the stuffy crowd. Not to mention the oh-so-friendly couple back there, he thought bitterly. He fought the urge to wallow in self pity before looking down at the girl expectantly, as if she were to lead the way to... wherever.

Pinkie let out a happy cry again as the pokemon greeted her. First she sniffed the small fire puppy before sniffing the spider and pseudo fox as the Eevee came over.
"Ta!" she greeted and licked both the 'Eevee' and the Spinirak before she caught the scent of a human coming near the small group whose scent wasn't familiar to her. She hoped that it was just one of the others' trainers coming over to them.
