Scorch grumbled to himself as the others kept trying to convince him not to run off somewhere. Finally he stopped, as Alistar pranced in front of him with Gypsy, though it looked like he wanted to reduce the two of them to ashes. Kriss nervously stayed behind him, meanwhile. It took a few moments but Scorch finally let out an exasperated and frustrated sound. "Fine, but as soon as Venezia's awake we're finding out what happened, and I'm going to go pound some skulls."

They didn't know Venezia had just awoken, but Flash, who was in the prayer circle, did, and he was scared. He flinched at the dagger being displayed, and his spirits drooped as they were told to stay back, that it wasn't safe by him. His prayer faltered, but he heard Espia continue without even breaking stride. He heard Silk continue after a pause as well, and so he closed his eyes tight and continued the prayer as well, though his voice shook with nerves.

Ivera broke from prayer to look up when she heard Venezia speak. The hostile nature of their Lord's pose made her frown deeply and hold a bit of fear. She looked to the others who had stopped prayer and gently spoke. "...We should continue... Follow Espia's lead.. We cannot stop until he hears us... and knows he is safe!" She nodded and looked at Uliad. "...Will you join us?" She asked sadly. Hoping that perhaps more voices could break through to their lord.

Sekan instinctively moved and placed himself between their lord and the carnies who attempted to calm their lord. "...We should do as he says and not make any sudden moves. He is not himself right now. Those are not the eyes of our Lord, but one of a scared animal." He didn't mean to insult their lord nor show disrespect. It was the best relation he could think of to explain to the carnies, all of whom were familiar with the aspects of taming animals and caring for them in some regard, that their lord was struggling. That any sudden movement could snap whatever fragile bridge their lord might be on. "...Damion you get back here right now...!" He raised his voice only slightly, absolutely mortified that the carny went about his own business. Then Skullbash followed... then even Roisin. Sekan frowned deeply and flicked his tail, watching their Lord's form like a vulture. He would not allow any of the carnies to fall harm. If he had to knock Venezia out he would do so. He couldn't allow their Lord to do something he would absolutely regret in the right state of mind. "...Lord Venezia... We are all family here. There is none who wish to bring you harm. Please lower your dagger."

Gypsy shook her finger in a tsk tsk motion. "Not unless Sekan or Venezia give the order to do so, Scorch...!" It wasn't until that moment she looked up and saw Italia and Mimiko, the strange mute demi-goddess return with what appeared to be... gargoyles...? "Oh my.." She whispered under her breath.

Italia with ease opened the gates to the Carnival and ushered the gargoyles and few Hexynia followers who were sent back with her. Mimiko followed the group at the tail end and helped the smaller carny shut the gates and lock them up tight. Italia looked at the partol and gave a sad smile. "Lady Hexynia was kind enough to lend us some support. She is aware of my father-- Lord Venezia's condition."

Venezia quickly brought his attention to Damion who crept closer to him. The urge to drive the dagger through the Pockettu's shoulder was strong. Yet Venezia managed to stepped back instead. "Please... I will hurt you. Heed my warnings..!" The God pleaded with his followers.

When Roisin and Skullbash approached Venezia shifted the dagger with his thumb and two additional daggers accompanied the original. The urge to bring them harm was an overwhelming sensation. "No.. please... stay back..." His voice turned to a whisper as his control began to weaken and his arm drew back. In one swift motion he threw the daggers...

...to the ground. The three blades impaled the sandy dirt between himself and his followers. "I will not..." With trembling hands Venezia sunk down to the ground and covered his mask.

"....Martyr. I will not join..."

Damion and Skullbash were well aware that any sudden movement might cause their Lord to lash out at them. That was why they kept their movements as slow and non-threatening as possible, both speaking to Venezia in their own way, in soft, calming, soothing tones. If Venezia lashed out at the two of them, they knew it would be their own fault, not the fault of others, but they were more than willing to take the risk if there was even the slightest chance that contact might help ground their Lord.

Kamaria and Leo continue praying as well, raising their voices with the others, hoping to break through to their Lord.

Sirocco eyes the Carnies as she follows Mimiko and Italia through the gates for a moment before speaking. "My Lady did offer to shelter all of you, your Lord included, or move all of her people and herself here to help further protect you all, but we were unsure if that would be a wise move at the moment. So, this group here with me are here to help in whatever way we can." She bows slightly to the group. "I am Sirocco, the Demi of Demons. The Gargoyles would be best suited for helping to patrol and guard your people from the air or along the top of the wall, as that was why my Lady made them. They will do their best to defend and protect this place with their very lives, if need be. I shall let the others introduce themselves now."

Sitnah's tail swishes slightly before she steps forward and speaks. "I'm Sitnah. I'm not much of a fighter, but I can run errands or fetch things that might be needed, so long as I am guided to the place at least once. I can also do some scouting."

Aratus coughs slightly, suddenly nervous in front of the others, before speaking. "I'm... Aratus. I make healing potions and things like that..."

Garm flicks her tail a bit, glancing around before speaking. "Garm. I will help with patrolling."

Rend had been to the Carnival before, but he didn't remember meeting or seeing this group before. He steps forward, standing just slightly behind and to the right of Italia. "Rend. I will do my best to help protect Italia and your Lord." Meaning he'd shadow Italia everywhere, most likely.

The gargoyles each introduce themselves as Tira, Brimstone, Cinder, and Sheelob. Brimstone then speaks again, his voice sounding like gravel being ground up. "We can each carry one other with us, along with a bag or basket of weapons that can be thrown or shot. It makes attacking and defending from the air easier, we have found."

Jangles frowned, his gut twisting as he watched the lord's daughter return with gargoyles from his perch. The presence of the goddess Hexynia's people made the direness of the situation finally sink in. He clasped his hands together, his mouth forming the words for a silent prayer of his own as he continued to watch for any danger.

Uliad tightened his grip on the box, his gaze bouncing between Venezia and Ivera. "What?..." So many questions, but it seemed that now wasn't the time for them. He nodded before looking back down to his box. Uncertain of what to do with it, the stuff didn't seem to be needed anymore, he set it down and kind of half heartedly nudged it towards where the healing had formerly been taking place. He wet his lips before awkwardly moving to join the prayer groups, his voice shaky as he joined his voice.

Apple Spice hunched into a little ball, his eyes squeezed shut as he finally continued to pray.

Zevneia and Gilbert both remained frozen where they were. The were jesters eyes were wide and his jaw open in shock. He was confused and his heart was pounding like mad in fear. never before had he imagined his God could act in such a way! Sure, the dagger flinging was typical but..the way he seemed in agony made the furry tailed follower whimper. Gilbert's eyes remained fixed on Venezia, and very slowly he edged backwards. Tiny little slow steps as Sekan had suggested. He only stopped when he reached the prayer circle. Glancing down, he knelt and sought to join in the groups prayer by grasping at a hand to grasp.

With her eyes closed, Espia did not see Venezia's reaction to the approach of the other carnies. But she could hear it. Still, she remained focused in her prayer. Even in slumber or madness, she believed the prayers of the faithful could be at least felt by their chosen God. Espia was dedicated to proving she was faithful. She felt that the hand beside her had pulled away, and she blindly reached to grasp for it from Apple Spice. So she could keep the circle intact.

Alistar nodded his head at Scorch and felt relief. Both by being backed up by Gyspy and by Scorch finally agreeing to some common sense. "Of course. but for now...we need to..." He froze then and turned about to face the front gates. Blinking he watched the group from Hexynia arrive. He was quiet before he spoke to Sirocco solemnly. "I think it's in the carnivals best interest to fortify ourselves here. We must be strong and protect our God the way he would protect us if we were in danger. Thank you though Demigoddess. I am certain we will need the aid." He turned slightly and made a few gestures above. after the winged ones introduced themselves. "I would suggest that those of you who can fly take up positions around the carnival. Use the tent poles for perches and keep a outwards eye for anything trying to sneak in. If any cursed appear you can call out your location with.." He paused and glanced at Gypsy on his back. "Hey. Do you know where the booths are with those little cheap whistles given away as prizes for the games? We should distribute them to all the watchers and guards. We can blow on them to signal the sight of potential dangers. Perhaps... Two short blows for a potential enemy sighting and one long blow for a verified danger?" His attention returned to the rest and for a moment he wondered if it would be better to let someone else take over..but he had already started and he didn't want to back off. not with Gypsy watching. "Miss Sitnah. There is a medical tent closer to the center of the carnival. perhaps you could go there and get med packs set up to be distributed among the guards? It would be good to be prepared in the case of a additional attack." His eyes moved to Aratus and he made a small gesture towards Sitnah. "And I'd suggest you go with her to help prepare the med packs. I think healing potions will be real useful." There was no way he was going to tell Italia or Rend what to do, though he did look to the daughter of his God for her approval concerning his suggested plan of action. "The rest of us ground bound defenders should make certain all entrances into the carnival are secured."

Roisin was naive, which was clear when she looked down to see the dagger in the ground before her. The pony girl froze, her ears pricked up with alarm as she struggled against the animal like urge to bolt. Instead she took a small step backwards from Venezia. She looked towards Sekan, her eyes brimming with tears. She wasn't certain if it was fear for, fear of, or frustration that caused her to nearly cry. "Martyr? Is she the one to blame for all of this?" She asked softly. "Venezia, my Lord. We are here for you. You do not need to be afraid. Please, we want to help you."

Scorch merely grunted at Gypsy's words, before he too noticed the entourage approaching. Ah, so they had found hellhounds to help... he nodded at Italia's words, and curtly to the group sent from Hexynia before moving to stand by the now-locked gates, arms crossed. "I'll be here," he states, intent on being by the main gate in case trouble showed up.

Kriss was relaxing now that Scorch was calmed down a little, and now that the gates were locked after the new help arrived. He introduced himself to them and then pondered what he could do to help. "I...I think i'll patrol..." he could use a good walk to clear his head, and well, he would be able to more or less keep an eye on Scorch, while not seeming like he was doing so. "If you need me to help pass out supplies, let me know."

It was a good thing Flash had his eyes closed, as the activity around him was sounding more and more scary. Venezia's words sent a chill down him. He wouldn't hurt them, would he? He was just...confused. He squeezed Silk's hand tightly as he focused on his faith in his God as much as he could.

Italia nodded in agreement to what Alisitar was saying. "Good suggestions. I am going to check on my father's condition before coming to assist you all." She bowed then headed on over towards where the big tent was located. There was no need to check behind as it was obvious to her that Rend would be by her side. Which honestly she couldn't be more thankful for.

Gypsy tilted her head. "Oh hm... Oh yes~! I do know which ones have those silly little trinkets." She giggled a bit and slid off of Alisitar's back. "The name's Gypsy Roma, by the way." She bowed to the Hellhounds before turning in the direction she had to go. "I'll be right back."

Ivera gave a silent nod in thanks to Uliad and continued to pray.

Sekan listened closely to the words their Lord had spoken. So it was the work of the Cursed... And one of their Gods. How terrible! War was certainly approaching. It was beyond obvious. There was no doubt that any of the carnies would not stand for anything less. And if there were a bet going on, Sekan would give all his coin towards that their allies wouldn't stand for it either. However, the Carnival was their top priority right now. Without their lord in the right frame of mind, things could get very dark and very dangerous quickly. The struggle and the actions displayed already showed proof. "...Lord Venezia. I pray to you that whatever is haunting you dims... That you step towards the spotlight and see what everything was and what it can be. Hear laughter, cries of joy, cheering and frightful shouts!" Sekan spoke the words and he slowly approached Venezia. His hands remained at his sides, his eyes fixated on their Lord's until their Lord knelt to the ground. He did not pause nor hesitate as he continued his verbal prayer. "Your demi-god begs of you, Lord Venezia... With all of my body and soul... We all beg of you... Do not betray the us. Do not betray the Carnival. Cut me down if you must in order to appease whatever wrath swells within you... But please regain yourself and your motivation to see this carnival shine brightly...!" As his prayer came to a closure, Sekan knelt before Venezia, head bowed in respect. His voice was a hushed whisper, enough only for Venezia to hear. "Please Venezia... your family needs you."

The voices combated each other. Ones of light and laughter fighting against ones of darkness and anger. Shouting louder and louder. Venezia clutched his head as his eyes closed tight. How badly he wished the nagging voices to stop. To silence. He would not become one of them. He refused. He was nothing like the Martyr. So what if he was wronged? If he had wronged? Every Pockettu made mistakes. Every Pockettu held grief. The prayers showed him that he was not alone. Where he had thought himself abandoned, it couldn't have been farther from the truth. When he thought everyone else had given up... it was him who did so. Certain voices spoke the loudest. They brought his thoughts from the sullen dark place they had sunk towards a more positive light. Then came the others. Some held terror or fear, others concern and worry. A few contained it all. Still it was an overwhelming chatterbox within the Carnival God's head. He tried to listen to one or the other but the sheer volume of voices was absolutely maddening. "....Enough!"

Silence. Perhaps from shock? Respecting an order? Venezia didn't know. Slowly he pulled his trembling hands away from his head, daring to lift his gaze. He was met with Sekan before him. Damion and Skullbash not too far away. Even Roisin was still near despite probably her better judgement. Scattered around were those in the prayer circle, a mixture of faces, some of which he would later admit surprised at seeing praying. And in the distance he could see his daughter making her return to the big top. All of it taken in with mere moments. All of it a sight to make a grown man cry. But cry he did not! A jester is to laugh. And so laugh he did. "...Hehehehe....!"

"...Thank you, all of you... I heard your prayers. You awoke me from a slumber I never wish to fall into again..~ Please rid yourselves of those sullen looks... Smile... be merry! I know it is hard but if I can find reasons then you can as well~" He chuckled and shifted to a more comfortable sitting position, waving his sleeved hand. "...Gather around... I will tell the tale of what happened. And in turn you may tell me what you all wish to do!"

[While Venezia seems to have regained his senses, it still would be wise to have some sort of protection against the Cursed. He is not in the clear yet. There is no telling what setback confronting a Cursed will have. Also, the wound to his stomach is a bad one. He shouldn't be able to move around much until it is healed. A old reopened wound is never good. Continue to seek help and aid from others.]

Jangles eyed the Hexynia followers and his fellow carnies, his silent prayer never pausing as he cocked his head. Jingling, he descended from his perch and then tumbled towards them. He broke from the tumble to twirl and join Scorch by the gate. Two guards was better than one?

Uliad fell silent at the shout of enough, his gaze lifting to their lord. His hands fell to his laps, his twiddling thumbs an obvious signs of his nerves. Things seemed to have worked, maybe?

Apple Spice jolted again at the shout, a squeak escaping him.

Seeing Venezia seem to come back to himself had Damion and Skullbash sigh in relief. Smiles came to their faces. Damion chittered something that sounded as if he was very very relieved Venezia had come back. He slowly reaches towards Venezia with one little clawed hand, as if wanting to make sure it was really him.

Skullbash watches for a moment, then coughs. "We will stay near, well at least some of us I'm sure, my Lord, to try to make sure you have help the next time you are feeling not yourself."

Kamaria and Leo look up from praying, smiles on their faces as well.

Rend follows after Italia, taking in the state of the Carnival as they go. Seeing the big top, he figures that was where they were headed.

The gargoyles all nod at the suggestions and await the arrival of the whistles before each of them picks a spot to perch along the perimeter to keep careful watch from.

Sirocco, Sitnah, and Aratus head towards the tent indicated for the medical supplies.

Garm stands near the gate with Scorch, tail flicking a bit as she kept an eye and ear out for trouble.
PostPosted: Tue Mar 10, 2015 8:14 pm

Scorch watched as Jangles and the hellhound...Garm wasn't it? Moved to join him. He nodded curtly at them both and looked to Garm. "Name's Scorch," he says, before looking out the gates. "I dare any cursed scum to try getting through here. I'll burn 'em to ash...." And he was quite sure these two and the others joining the cause would also make any cursed that tried to get in regret that decision.

Kriss wanders off to start patrolling the grounds, keeping an eye out for intruders, and also if anyone else inside needs any help.

Flash was startled at Venezia's next outburst. His eyes shot open and he gripped Silk's hand even tighter, though what he saw and heard next gave him hope. Venezia sat up and began speaking more like himself. Oh, the prayers had worked so well! He hoped Venezia would not slip into such a dark place again. His confidence renewed, he finally lets go of the hands in his prayer circle and scoots in closer to hear what had happened to their god....

Espia lips chanted prayer ended the second Venezia commanded for silence. her eyes lifted and fixed on her god with a wide eyed concern. She released her hold on the pockettu beside her and crawled closer instantly to listen to the tale that would be spun.
Zevnia and Gilbert were both hesitaint to approach Venezia, but they did sit quietly to listen. Concern was evident on Zevs face, thought Gilberts remained impassive. It was only after the tale was told that.
Silk found being quiet as easy as breathing. It was his natural state, as it were. Though he was pretty positive Flash had just bruised his hand. As Venezia talked, his free hand covered his face with horror. His eyes drifted down towards Venezia's bandages and he inched closer uneasily. "My Lord. Shouldn't you go to your tent and rest now?"

Roisin still felt jittery. She watched Venezia as closely as she possibly could. Though he laughed and seemed at ease, her heart was still worried. She looked and listened closely. She remained standing until it was that Venezia finished sharing his tale. "I agree. I am glad to see you are awake from your battle slumber, but you must rest my God. Perhaps have something to eat in order to regain your strength." She urged him softly.
Alistar was pleased to see he had come up with a vauge plan of action. "Patrolling the streets are excellent ideas. Everyone make certain to get a whistle from Gypsy. Remember. Two short blasts for a possible threat and one long blow for a verified one." He repeated to the ones on their way out. He glanced over to see Scorch, Jangles and Garm standing at the gate. "Well... a smart enemy won't be coming in that way." He mused as he pranced about in a circle. He noted the direction Kriss wandered off in, then headed off to follow Gypsy so he could help with handing out the whistles. Hooves were quicker then feet after all.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 11, 2015 8:04 pm

Venezia began the tale of what occurred. "I was out for a night stroll, to clear my head. Perhaps it was a fool's wish to go after midnight?" He waved his hand and continued. "Regardless if it were or not, before I realized what had happened, a large dragoness appeared before me. Chills and voices! A feeling of terror. It swelled inside, maddening. Her name is The Martyr. I do not know what grief she has with myself or the Carnival. We have done nothing to directly affect her... Yet she kept on rambling on and on about my joining them." The jester sighed and gazed down. It almost had happened. It still could happen, despite Venezia not knowing such. "While it angers me greatly... and I do want revenge. Oh sweet revenge would be delightful~ We should wait and see what card is drawn next~"

In honesty, Venezia wished to rest. He knew a good portion of the carnies probably wanted to rip the Martyr's face off. He wanted to as well. But with his current condition he would only hinder the carnies and risk the Carnival. He was no stranger to risks and gambles but this was one even he was not so foolish to take alone. When he was in a better state he could formulate a plan. For now he would have to rely on Sekan and the others to keep everyone safe.

The God reached out and ruffled Damion's hair gently. He then looked at Roisin and tilted his head. "Hehehe... I believe I shall rest. Forgive me again, all of you." His gaze fell upon each of his carnies. "I will not fail you again... your prayers, your worry, and your care have touched my heart."

Italia frowned at hearing that it was the Martyr who put her father in such a condition. Certainly she would be their next target. In time. Roisin was right and Venezia needed rest. The Carnival also could not act without its beloved ring master either. So they could simply prepare themselves for the worst - war.

Ivera looked down at the ground, worry all over her face. She quietly got up and left the big tent after Venezia was done speaking. Looking around she searched for one of the patrol or guarding carnies. "...I guess I can help out here now."

Sekan carefully got up to his feet and went over to Venezia's side. "Let me aid you, Lord Venezia." He carefully put Venezia's arm around his shoulders and on the third count helped the God rise to his feet. He looked at some of the Pockettu who had helped patch Venezia up earlier. "In a little bit, come by the tent. We'll have to make sure he didn't make anything worse."

Gypsy made her way into some of the booths. She quickly snatched the whistles and occasionally picked one or two other items. More than likely ones they didn't need. They were just there... so shiny... and... oops. Slip of the hand? Of course she'd return them later. Her stolen possessions never remained stolen for long. They'd magically appear back to where she had gotten them from. By now she was sure some carnies knew it was her.
