Working to place the amulets back in the case, Ylaria paused to respond, carefully brushing a tiny piece of dust from the perfectly-polished precious metal. "You may select any combination, for any reason. I would suggest, however, that you consider both their beneficial properties and the aesthetics of the piece. Favoring one or the other risks a bit of an imbalance. Of course, you're working with such small pieces that it won't matter too much, but I am uncomfortable encouraging habits that would be unwise on a larger scale."

This trip was just getting better and better for Imryn. Already she'd met up with a few new students, and one of whom was attending Amity as well?! That just was the icing of the spookies for her. "Oh wonderful! I go to Amity as well!" Normally she was not this excitable with unknown people, but there was something comforting about their little group that had been helping her relax some. As the lecture continued Imryn turned her full attention to it as well, already full of excitement to see what the next steps would be. And now knowing that they got to use a few gems to set in their work from the day before? That made it even better. "Sounds like a plan then... can't wait to see how everyones turns out." she grinned, already thinking about which ones she might choose when the box came around. As the box came around, Imryn peered in and tried to take into account the information that Ylaria had given them as well as the colors of the stones. Eventually she settled on a ruby for the body and a smaller emerald for the top of the pumpkin. (Copper, Necklace, Ruby and Emerald)

"Mai! Lacie!" Aurian quickly moved over to the two other ghouls so they could talk without risking the ire of the instructor. "Oh, did we?" Aurian peered at Lacie's gems. "I almost went with blue and green," Aurian explained, gesturing to her hair (which Mai was currently playing with and Aurian would give her about a hundred years to stop doing that, no really). "I ended up using a sapphire brooch yesterday and it was really amazing. I was super-strong! So I kind of wanted to see if I could do that myself. Almost picked an emerald to go with it, but, I don't know, the diamond seemed nicer, I guess." More sparkly. Which wasn't something Aurian usually went for, but she trusted her instincts on this one. She smiled when Mai picked out a blue gem and a purple gem. "Are we all colour-coordinating?" she joked. "No, seriously, that will look lovely on you, Mai. And yours, too, Lacie."

"Nothing wrong with wanting to look stylish," Mai said to Aurian with a grin. Though it was more than just that, these were the stones that felt right to her. Whatever that meant. Maybe she was just tired and seeing meaning where there was none. (Which was entirely possible)
The ghost took a seat again and set her materials on her lap to get started. Mai was a little behind she realized, seeing that many of her other classmates had finished their jewelry completely the previous day and were ready to set their stones in right away. She had only constructed the barest shape of a necklace really, thinking that they would be doing most of the jewelry forming today. Well, that just meant she needed to work harder.
Mai read the instructions for finer detailing quietly, going through the process in her mind first a few times before making any attempt to touch the wire and stones. She didn't want to ruin them because she rushed and made a silly mistake. When she felt she was reasonably comfortable with the process, she took the wire and tool in each hand and started to meticulously braid and twine the fine metal into the shape she desired. Seemed to be going ok, only a few kinks here and there where her hands had fumbled. The process of twisting the gold wire was surprisingly calming, and the ghost found herself tuning everything out completely as she worked over her necklace.
When she thought she was ready to set the stones, she hesitated. Mai fretted over the thought that she'd end up scratching the smooth surfaces on the gems or ruin the wire. There was nothing for it though, she just needed to get it done. Carefully, the wisp fit the stones into the fixtures she created on her necklace. A bit of twisting and pinching had the gold wire coiled securely around each gem.
Mai took a breath. "Ok," she said, her expression somewhat uncertain. "I think I'm done... hope I did that right." She held the gold necklace out and turned it this way and that to inspect it. "How did you guys do?" she asked, her gaze seeking Aurian and Lacie.

"I will certainly keep those in mind," Tess smiled, then paused a little bit more, "The gems properties do not directly um... conflict with each other do they? Unless, as you said, there is an imbalance?" The winged ghoul was eying a small diamond and a small sapphire, already debating on which side of the hairpin to place them. Then wondered if she should go for a ruby instead of a sapphire because of Lizzy's choice in color palette.Nothing Yet Tess is just too fascinated with the class ;3;

"I think that they'll all be really pretty." Lacie agreed with both Aurian and Mai. They would match beautifully with the two amazing girls. The reaper had the utmost faith in them.
Staring intently at Mai and Aurian's pieces, Lacie held the instructions in both hands. Her intense concentration was quite a sight, as if the little reaper's life depended on the accessory. "..." It took her quite a while to understand visualize what she wanted to create. The first day had merely been the basics, but to envision design and shape was a challenging task.
Her hand slipped several times, the accessory falling onto the table. With a worried glance, Lacie picked it up again. No. There was no need to rush. Despite everybody else's beautifully created jewels, Lacie needed to progress at her own pace. Inhaling deep breaths, she breathed out slowly to alleviate her tension. Work slowly. Work carefully. Mai and Aurian wouldn't judge her.
Coiling the wire around the blue gem, and white gem, Lacie's hand trembled. But when she was finally done, she wiped off the sweat with the back of her hand. It was done for the day!
She looked up at Mai when she heard her name being called. "I um.. I think I did it all right. Aurian?" She turned towards her fellow reaper, waiting for her answer.

"No, nothing like that," she said, waving her hand dismissively. She moved to attend to the last amulet. "Theoretically, it is possible to combine a plethora of assorted gems for use, but." Frowning. "That is distasteful. Disrespectful. So we do not."

Eye bright and shining as the gems came out, Sabine was back to excited little ghoul mode. When the box was being passed around, rather than just taking a few, the vampire got out a small jeweler's loupe to examine them. Normally she could manage fairly well without the eyeglass, but with her heightened senses locked down on the island, she was glad she'd thought ahead.
Sabine was a ghoul with priorities.
After what seemed like forever, especially for the student waiting on her, the vampire settled on a single diamond.

Finally serious and focused, Sabine settled in to start working on a proper setting for the gem. Picking up her pliers she began to adjust the necklace to better suit the addition.

Aurian waited quietly while Mai and Lacie worked. She continued to glance around the classroom. If she caught sight of Morrigan, she'd invite the demon to join them. It would be nice if all her friends got along. And big groups could be a lot of fun. (Admittedly most of Aurian's experience with big groups involved terrible boats, islands, or trials of some kind, but she thought that in a more social setting it would be less... traumatic.) "It looks really good, Mai!" Aurian nodded, peering closely at the necklace. It definitely suited Mai. Turning her attention to Lacie's jewelry, Aurian sat back, impressed. "Wow. Lacie, that's amazing." Her gems seemed to be in very securely - better than one of Aurian's, at least. She beamed at both of the ghouls. "We are all going to look so good in these!" ... Assuming that they got to keep these afterwards. Aurian really, really, really hoped they could. Waiting to see if anything else would happen, Aurian happily inspected her finished (so far) product:

It was good to be in the company of the two ghouls when they had come back for the class. “I do hope as well, but I just might have to hide it when I get back home to prevent it getting taken from me,” Adiyan replied. He fully well knew that the others wouldn’t like that he was here in the first place and would take anything he had gotten so he was thinking of putting with his other hidden trinkets and things of value. “That sounds good by me,” Adiyan had gotten quiet when Ylaria had started up the class again and gave her his full attention. Seeing that they would be working with the jewels part of the jewelry that they were making as all of it sounded so wonderful to his ears and he got excited as his ears cocked forward to make sure he hear everything that was being told. The Fu Dog was in awe when he saw all those little jewels as they were beautiful. At first he didn’t know which ones that he should go for but with a little thought he figured out what he wanted. When the jewels had gotten to him he only took two small sapphires for his bracelet as he didn't want to be too greedy and thought that strength would be good for him. Since he wanted to become stronger to prove his worth to his own clan and to become a better Guardian as well. (2 Sapphires)

Once he had his jewels he took out his bracelet from its pouch and pondered for a little where he wanted to put them. Once he had decided were to put them and started to bend the gold wire to hold the two gems in place on either sides of the swirl designs. With the little extra wire that he had gotten mostly when to setting his jewels but with the little extra that he had gotten made some more little swirl designs near each of the jewels.

Tyalessa was afraid that they would be fiddling with something small. Essa was clumsy enough with normal things already, she nearly dropped the snap snap thingy 6 times already. But with small stones such as these would not only be easy to drop but hard to find afterwards as well. Essa was quite happy that she had more wire to work with, her necklace yesturday had only one she was hoping to use but it was too big, now she can use the wire to twist some holes around the sides that will fit in the 4 stones she decided to use.

The second day of classes brought no less excitement for the ghoul. Once more she skipped into the class, glancing about at all the other students who had arrived before her. Giving small waves of greeting to a few she knew and a few she did not know.
Mei scurried over to her previous place of sitting after gathering her velvet bag from the day before that contained her brooch that she had made. Still a bit proud of how it had come out. A little amazed at herself for actually doing something that was fairly decent.
As the instructor spoke, she listened carefully. Gems? OH! She loved gems. All kinds of gems. They were just so beautiful and made something simple just sparkle with pizzazz!
She puzzled over the different properties that each type of gem that they would be able to choose from had. Pondering which ones she would pick herself. The ghoul was meticulous when it came to specifics.
As they were instructed, she moved forward to pick her own gems. It only took her a moment to pick one diamond and two emeralds. Something about that combination of gems just spoke to her. Holding her gems gently in the palm of her hand she moved back to her seat to begin working.

Looking at the different ones and remembering what the teacher had said about each one to help her choose, Essa picked up a sapphire, 2 emeralds and a diamond, she would have liked more diamonds since the clearness reminded her of what she wanted her mind to be, but then the teacher said that it wasnt need in excess and using a different stone would have added beneficial effects anyway Essa thought. The new holes were alot more wonky than the rest of the piece but she wasnt trying to make the piece perfect, making the stones fit and stay was her top priority.
