Shenny tried to be as tender and gentle, as she could never stopping stroking and patting the reed and whispering some caresses. It took some time, but finally the ghoul managed to remove the plant completely. She was a bit afraid of it turning into an ash, like Bulbous showed them, but no, the reed seemed perfectly fine. It's colour was bright, deep and strong, its smell fresh and wooden; and most certainly it was ripe with Fear. Shenny stared at it excitedly automatically keeping to caress it.

Shenny sighed of relief leaving the reed on the mat... looks like it all turned correct. However, she grew a bit used to her reed... it was hard to leave it there, and it would probably be a pity to part with it.

Another p***k of the thumb wouldn't cost much at this point, and thus he did so without complaint. Luckily this time Mort was able to squeeze out a few drops without much trouble.

Now for the stone removal. Mort had hoped the final task would be the least difficult, but unfortunately as usual he would derp up somewhere. In this case, the stone refused to loosen, and after several seconds of struggle the thing cracked! Chagrined, Mort returned his scareon to Bulbous with a mumbled apology, sure that he had failed on the homestretch.

Today was the last day and Tyshina was kinda sad about that. In all honesty she wasn't sure she was ready for this to end. All of the new things she had learned and all of the new people she had met. Would everything just disappear after this week or would she still keep in touch with everything afterwards. She wasn't quite sure what would happen but she knew she needed to finish class before she gave anymore of it any thought.

So she followed the instructions and spilled a bit of her own blood for the final removal product. To her surprise this part of the class went off perfectly and she was able to pull out the reed/stone with no issue whatsoever!

6: You try to pull it out but… it cracked. You’ll have to leave the scareon with Bulbous. (Failed?)

After the first blood dropping part she continued onto the next. This time she was told to attempt to pull the ward stone from the collar. She closed her eyes and reached to remove the stone from the scareon. She breathed heavily and tried to pull out the stone. When she opened her eyes to her surprise the stone instead of coming out, cracked. As she looked closer it looked like the scareon was stuck with a Bulbous. "I'm sorry," she whispered as she gently petted the scareon.

While she may have failed this final part of the assignment, the good part was the scareon who was a test subject was alive still. So all in all maybe it wasn't a complete failure she thought as she went back to her seat.

Step one (Both)

Spill some blood to ready the removal of the final product. Roll 1d8 to determine success.
1-7-Huzzah! You nicked yourself and let a drop or two hit the reed/stone. Time to pull it out
8- You cut deep and a lot of blood got on it….. not good (-2 score)

Today was the last class, Arynek was so nervous, it's time for harvest.
In this short week, she treated her specimen, or rather said she viewed it as a pet or friend.
She used oils and her bloods to feed it, she took care of it, she worried about it, hoping it won't be ruined.

From Bulbous's desk, there were fully rotted scareons...or better said skeletons and some tall reeds.
Bulbous seemed to be pleased that no students had done something harzardous in his "class".
Student then lined up to collect their specimens back.

Bulbous paused a while, waiting for the students to get back to their station.
He then continued to discuss what students to do next.
Following his instruction, Arynek cut her finger a little lightly, few drops of her blood were absorbed by the plant, what Bulbous call "awaking" the plant.

Rafe wasn't sure how he felt about this being the last day of class.

He wasn't going to miss the subject, he didn't think. He'd pretty much forgotten what the point of all of it was. He was pretty certain that he would never use any of this ever again. And he wasn't really a big fan of the instructor, who seemed to hate the students equally as much.

Still, it was almost a bittersweet feeling. Because as much as he didn't really like this....he seemed to be doing okay at it?

He retrieved his plant, slicing his thumb open on the reed. A couple drops of blood, annnnnd go! He gently uprooted it, curious to see if it was still a skeleton.

He pulled out the reed gently and carefully. It was bright red and filled with FEAR, which seemed to mean it was successful. He breathed a sigh of relief. It looks like he'd passed something!

Aksaja quickly located his Scareon and picked the thing up, eyeing it for a moment or two before setting it down to p***k his finger. This shouldn't be too hard, as long as he didn't cut too deeply. Careful . . . careful. There! Good.

Hooking a claw between the setting and the stone, Aksaja pried at it for a moment or tow before it popped out and fell into his hand. Then he frowned, eyeing it. Had it faded a little . . . ? Erm. Hopefully that was okay? Well, only one way to find out. He'd wait and see what Bulbous said.

Remove the plant… gently. Roll 1 d6

2: You pulled it out but snapped the reed in half, making it lose some color (-1 from score)

Now, the plant was awakened.
It's time to take it out from the pot.
Students were all cautioned the importance of proper speed and strength in removing the reed.

From Bulbous's demonstration, Arynek noticed that if you pull the reed too fast and too hard, it would turn into ash and your effort would all be aborted.
The shadow ghoul knew that she had to be very gentle.
Instead of grabbing its tip portion, she held the reed stalk at the part which is closet to the dirt, pulled it out with a moderate force, as if it would get hurt if she pulled too hard.
When more stalk was exposed, she held the stalk at a lower position.

Arynek repeated this action until the reed is fully removed from the pot.
The reed in her hand was in a good condition, bright and in vivid red, with a lovely crackling gold pattern all over it.
She was able to sense a FEAR similar to hers from it, but a bit different.
She was satisfied, with a sense of fulfillment.
It was her first time of completing something without help from her Uchitels!
She had been getting along with the seed in this short week, she put efforts in it and worried about it, now it's ripened!
Is that the feeling her Uchitels have when they watched her grow-up?
She took the seed with her everywhere she went, she was worrying about it even when she was sleeping.
There was no moment that she didn't think of it, she now felt a bit anomic.
That feeling was like dunno what to do next...it was all encircling her.
She stared at her reed, a bit reluctant to hand it over and leave it on the mat............

Aleria slit their palm, blinking once at the pain.

It registered, of course. It hurt. Their vines normally would have protested, for being cut too deep would hurt them as well, since the plants functioned as their vascular system as well as their fear source.

But they were silent, their nature dampened by this...island. It was unnerving, to be alone, after growing up alongside the slovenly, lazy little plants.

Nonetheless, Aleria trained their eyes on the project at hand. The blood, thick and viscous and bluer than a clear night sky, hit the stone.

Staring at the blood leaking from their hand, Aleria used their other palm to pull the wardstone out of the collar, letting it walk freely. The glow from the stone faded a little.

Aleria sighed. Well. Close enough to done.

There would not be much time for anything else in this class. The demon had done their time, obediently following instructions. The air was stifling but not unpleasantly so.

It would be sad, to not come here again. Famine had come to be Aleria's favourite, for the plants and the bugs and the true connection to life on this island were nigh overwhelming.

It would be missed. The tinkling of bells in the hallway, accompanied by the soft voices of clanmembers. The oasis, the bio-luminescent plants. It felt almost like home, despite the heat.

Bulbous's reply was surely a big relief for the poor shadow ghoul.
He seemed not feeling annoyed by her bunch of questions.
Maybe their instructor is not as bad as she thought.....

He seemed to agree with her endeavor.
From the answer he gave, it was suggested that the locusts (They are really locusts!) were just doing it at random, like sometimes we like to wander around. Interesting~

For the oils, it seemed that Arynek had raised an entertaining question that even the Clans needed to find out the answer.

For the seed, Bulbous mentioned that there was another lesson more suitable, unfortunately, they would soon be leaving the isle, but it's no bad to ask which one it was.

For the last question, it seemed that she touched the line of the instructor.
Bulbous seemed unwilling to continue with the topic or rather said he was keeping "secrets"?

Nevertheless, the shadow ghoul thanked Bulbous for answering these questions.
"Thank you for answering my queries, Sir."
"I hope I would have chances to visit here and learn more in the future, this is a very unforgettable experience for me and my pleasure to be allowed to visit this Isle." She added.
Arynek smiled and made a gentle bow to their instructor to show her respect.
Bulbous was a special teacher after all.
