Video footage of Operation dated Feb 14. Audio recorded in X-Com Base "Nob Jangle." DirOps on station. Operative "T" on station at DEMACIA CICDirOps:Ladies, gents, welcome to X-Com. I'll be brief. You're still a ways out from being combat ready, but we have the opportunity to watch a salvage and recovery operation, so I opted to interrupt a routine base inspection to show you what we do. Operative T, give me a SitRep.

T: Aye, sir. LZ looks clear. Tank has done initial scouting.
DirOps: Good, good. I see a question. Operative V-man?
V-Man: Yessir. Looking over logs, it seems that X-Com is relying heavily on HWP. Why are we not using more of them?
DirOps: A fair question. The answer comes in two parts: the tank won't improve over time as well as our operatives will, and losing the tank only costs us money. Losing one of you costs both time and money put into you, and will impact squad morale.
T: Director has the right of it. We've found that solid early tactics includes using the HWP as a scout, while our troops set solid positions behind it and create a wide killzone, as they're doing at the edge of the field there. They'll move up slowly to that fence while the tank spots for them.
DirOps: Speak of the devil, tank's picked someone up. Contact Team Maniac has clearance to engage, T.
T: Aye sir. *pause* Maniacs, engage at will.
T: Sir, Operative Aidros reports confirmed kill.
DirOps: Glad to hear it, she's been improving rapidly since we gave her the laser rifle. *pause* Looks like she got another kill. not sure if we got that on the video, may have been Thundermist. we'll try to confirm that after the mission.
Recruit: Sir!
DirOps: Yes, Operative...Wantcookie, was it?
Cookie: Yessir. Why are three of our operatives breaking off from the main group?
DirOps: Those'd be our scouts, J and Haru, back in action again. they're being backed up by Odin with the heavy cannon, and Captain Dulnair, though you can't see her. Dulnair is a crack shot, and Odin's autocannon has ammunition capable of tearing down walls. They'll be providing supporting fire and J and Haru search buildings for alphas.

DirOps: Meanwhile, the fire team will set up and the tank will continue to scout.

DirOps: The big house is three floors, so Haru will take his time to search, even the roof.
T: Meanwhile, some of the fire team is breaking off into the barn to provide some covering fire for the main contingent.

DirOps: The main fireteam begins to move up. Haru is heading up to the roof to confirm the sweep, J is clearing out the smaller buildings. The tank has visuals on the entrance to the UFO.
T: *chuckle* Sir, Operative Haru reports that the building is absolutely, positively clear and requests permission to join the rest of the team at the breach site.
DirOps:Glad to see getting hit with a rocket didn't dampen his enthusiasm. Granted.

DirOps:*exhale* Alright, here we go. Assemble a killzone in front of the door, prep J to breach, haru follows.
Nitsua:Sir, you seem nervous. This seems like a milk run. What could go-
T: Breaching. Contact! J reports enemy fi- J! J!
T: Sir, negative contact!
DirOps: Send Haru in.
Cookie: Sir, that's-
T: Sir, Haru is in. Reporting a single contact. Equipping stun rod.
DirOps: Negative. Don't give the b*****d time to recover. Gun him down.
T: Thundermist reports alpha is wounded but not down. Aidros followed up but reports no significant damage.
DirOps: Let the Captain take the shot. I imagine she'll be quite happy to.
T:Contact down!
DirOps: They were going to spend tonight together.
Cookie: Sir? Did you say something?
DirOps: To answer your question, Recruit Nitsua, that is why. We followed optimal procedures to a tee, pardon the pun, Operative T, and we lost one of our best operatives. As I said, we lost time and money, but your comrades down on the ground lost a friend.
As will you all. Make it hard for the bastards.

That's all for today. Some of you will be transferred over to Manaics in order to bring some of the command staff from DEMACIA over here. Be on your toes, I'll issues order by day's end. Dismissed.
