Keira listened as that explained what the Colonel is, he is a son of a god and a son of a mortal woman. Keira stood as the tears kept falling and she shook her head. "I am nothing but a mortal my Lord, I will eventually die and if I was going to die, I rather die by being the door. I don't deserve to live I am human that some of Underworld wish me dead just because I am mortal."

Keira shook as she didn't look at the Colonel, he says John loves her but she didn't believe it as he was going to die. He took what he needed and now he's gone. Why couldn't she stop him? "Can I be excused, I am tired." She barley whispeared as she asked. She tried to stoo crying but it didn't work.

Henry nodded and escorted her to John's old room. It was filled with books and toys from his childhood, the days when he first came to live with the colonel. The bed was large and blue with a gold frame. The carvings in the headboard depicted beautiful images of lions, dragons, unicorns, and knights. It was a beautiful scene.

In the center of the room hung a golden chandelier. The colonel lit this and threw the room into a bright, warming light. The colonel drew from his pocket a thick, soft leather book.

"I took the liberty of... procuring this last night. Thought it might be something you'd enjoy," he said, setting the book on the bed. Upon further examination, in simple elegant letters, it bore the name "John Harcourt" - his journal. "Good night."

Keira looked at the room as she saw the toys and the room. She wanted to scream because it reminds her of John. She saw the book the Colonel put down and she had the urge to open it but she didn't. She wanted nothing to do with him as she simply went to a corner and laid down. She knew it was childish but shr didn't care. She turned her back away from him, the world. She closed her eyes.

John stood at the railing of the boat, wondering what to do. He wanted to die so that Keira could live and be happy, marry and have a family. But more than anything, he wanted to be hers. He wanted to live and grow old with her. He wanted to build a house for her, as was custom for new husbands to do for their brides. He wanted to share a life with her.

He looked over to the port side; Borus was sitting against a barrel, fast asleep, snoring and snorting. He chuckled at the sight of the boar soldier and returned his gaze to the sea.

Keira woke up from a nightmare as she screamed from it. She was breathing heavily as she shook. She noticed that it was dark inside the room. "I am the light, I am the light." She kept repeating. She always did this win she was a child to help calm her.

Henry stationed two soldiers outside of Keira's room and window, making sure she didn't do anything rash. He closed his eyes and pictured the boat that would be bringing John. He opened his eyes.

"I wish you'd quit doing that," John said crossly, "You nearly stopped my heart. What is it? Is Keira okay?"

"She's... not all well. She's convinced you don't love her. What is it you want from her John?" Henry stared into his eyes, forcing him to look down. "I love her, sir. You know I do. I just want her to have the happy normal life she's never had. I want her to have a family and a home. She can't have that if she dies."

Henry clapped a hand on John's shoulder. "How very noble. But I know she feels used right now. I can sense it deep within her. So I gave her your journal."

John's eyes widened as his hand flew to the inside of his coat. "What the - when did you do that?! If she reads that, I'm screwed! That's a journal! is nothing sacred!?"

Henry laughed at John's dramatic reaction. "You have nothing to be embarrassed of. It's very... sweet," he said, choking with laughter on the last word. John huffed. "You're a real piece of work, you know that?"

"Yes. Yes, I do, " he chuckled. They both leaned on the rail and turned their faces toward the distant land mass. "What about you, John? Don't you want a happy life?"

John frowned. "I've already had one. With you. Besides, you can't die. And I can't let her die. It's the only way."

"Is it," Henry asked, too quiet for John to hear. He turned his gaze to the sleeping pig-soldier, Borus. "Perhaps not..."

Keira calmed down as she got up but stumbled and touched a leather book. She looked at it and sigh. She pushed it back farther as she still didn't want to read it. She was conflicted as the other half wanted too but the other side who felt used won.

Keira opened the door and found two soliders. "Oh for heaven sake really. What am I going to do run away." Keira shook her head. "Excuse me can you tell me where the music room is at. You both can come and guard the door so you won't get in trouble." Keira smiled.

The guards took her to the music room and foubd that ut was similar to the other. She smiled as she saw the harp abd the guards stood inside the music room watching her. She sat down as she first braided her hair then gracefully started to play the harp. It was a gentle melody.

John looked at the deep, jagged scar on his left forearm and grimaced. He felt a pang of sorrow and longing. Surely Keira didn't truely believe he didn't love her? Surely the colonel was wrong? He hung his head miserably as the colonel left his side to attend to the snoring Borus.

He drew from his coat a beautiful gold ring, set with a large ruby in the middle and diamonds clustered all around it. Whether or not he lived, Keira needed to know he loved her. Today, she would know.

Jeira smiled as playing the harp always made her feel better. She played different melodies but soon she got tired. She placed one last one, and it was the one she played for John. Her heart called out to him as she then realized she truly loved him. Even if she still believed he used her she still loved him. Keira yawned and fell asleep on the harp chair that was big enough for her to curl up on.

Henry frowned as he examined his friend; a demon had inhabited his body. Sensing danger, it forced itself to shut down, causing Borus to sleep almost constantly. "Peculiar... must've been the creature in the Badlands that night we found Keira..." He roused Borus who only whispered, "Kill me," before returning to his comatose-like state.

Henry felt genuine sorrow and regret. "Rest well, my friend. There is nothing more we can do for you right now. Your time will come soon enough."

He patted Borus's shoulder gently and straightened up. "You'll reach land by afternoon," he called to John, "I'm going to return and check on Keira." John nodded and Henry closed his eyes once more, picturing the sunny terrace and the scent of mangos.

Keira slept peacefully even though she was curled up on the bench of the harp. No dreams haunted her as she was asleep in a dreamless state. She wanted to have at least peace and cut off the world as she didn't want to think of what will come.

John looked down at the snoring and grunting Borus. "Must be nice," he said dryly. He sighed and waited for the cry from the crow's nest that land was near. The sun was hot, but the mild wind rolled off the waves, chilling the crew as they worked. They scrubbed the deck, prepared the meal, measured rope, turned the sails, and shouted vulgar jokes to one another. He smiled inwardly. If he would have been able to live out his days, he supposed he'd want to sail the sea. He envisioned a wonderful life of travel with his bride. Eventually, she'd settle down at a port with the children while he sailed to earn their bread. He'd return home for a week each month, bringing with him fine gifts and affection...

He gripped the railing tightly, sternly reminding himself that it was not to be.

Keira woke up as she dragged herself out thr music toom motioning yhe guards to follow. Once they escorted her to John's room she actually crawled into bed and snuggled in. Odd enough the bed smelled like John. She was too tired to care as she grabbed the book and hugged it.

A few moments later Keira sat up and looked at the journey. "Oh for heaven sake the Colonel did this on purpose. Ugh now it haunts me " Keira then genyly open the book. "Only obe page I will read." She then looked at the page that has, writing and began to read.

...(as continued from my last report in the previous log.) We have encountered many problems with the vampires. Soon I will take Keira's blood. As I have read (carefully, many times), I need only open my arm with the ceremonial dagger to gain the burden of the door. On a more personal note, before I am to die I aspire to wed her; I simply must show her how much I love her and how much I need her. She will probably refuse my offer, but I must try. Her marriage to me will fill me with love and will give me the strength and courage to do what needs to be done - to end my life... for her.

If she will wed me, the ceremony requires a blood bond. I am looking forward to this; she can never become the door again, so I won't have to worry about that, but she will gain my blood. Over time, it will take over her human cells and she will become one of us. She will age at our rate and live much longer than any human ever could.

I want this for her. I want her to forget me after I am gone and live a long life with a family and a home - the happy life she so deserves. I will die and give this to her - this life of joy and my undying love.

Keira felt the tears pour. It was happiness and joy. She closed his joyrney and placed it under a pillow. The only problem was, she wanted him. She wanted to have a family with him and no one else. If she married John abd be adopted by the Colonel then she wiuld sinply marry no other as her heart belong to John. But can she really marry him?
