Danny had only just noticed the group of people standing outside of the school. She had been out for a run in the forest, and had only arrived back to see this.
Still in her "honeymoon" phase of being asked out, Danny's eyes found Rikki in the crowd almost instantly, and she bounced giddily over to her new boilfriend, not even aware that the school was going through anything bad. There were a lot of boogeymen about, a lot of grumpy looking students and teachers, and a lot of unhappy faces.
She wiggled in Rikki's direction and said, "What's everyone out here for?" She still hadn't quite caught on that everything was GOING STRAIGHT DOWN THE TOILET. Sometimes, ignorance was bliss.

Zixil continued to stand still, brow furrowed in thought, finger still to his lips. He didn't appear to be listening to his fellow faculty member's confrontation with the Bogeymen, but when he spoke, it became immediately evident that he had.
"Students!" By the time he got anyone's attention, he was waving his arms to make sure he kept it. "I've got it! I've got the plan! All right, all right, here we go. Try to keep up."
He paused, this time for dramatic effect, pointing out at the crowd.
"You all take the exams and don't fail 'em and tada bing bang boom, we got us a saved school!"
Jackdamnit he was brilliant. He was so glad he'd thought of that, and it showed, chest puffed out in such an exaggerated fashion that it made his ill-fitting coat split.

She smiled softly when their arms were linked together. She used her free hand to pat the offered arm in a consoling manner. It was hard to truly be happy though. Shine had dropped a bomb when she said they were being made to leave. This school was an important part of their unlives! It was their home away from home! The darkness in the light! No other school could come close to what this one meant to her. She didn't want to go to her real home. She missed her parents dearly but she never had anyone her age to spend time with. She didn't want to be alone again. "They can't make us leave," she replied adamantly, trying to reassure her friend. "They can try, but trying and doing are different things. I'll fight whoever is behind this. Someone has to be the cause. I'll find the source and eliminate the problem!" It sounded so easy in her head but in her heart, she knew it would not be. Nothing was ever easy when it came to their school. Shuffling around in the bag she had left open, she pulled out a napkin. It smelled vaguely of last week's lunch but it was better than nothing. She folded it inside out and used the cleanest section to dab at Shine's face. She paused only briefly when the professor started his announcement. By the time he was done, her friend was a little more presentable. Her cheeks were still stained from her makeup but Rain rather liked the way it looked. "So pretty," she complimented quietly. "It sounds like Professor Arel just bought us some time. Things are already starting to look up!" Of course, they had to take exams and that unnerved her. She had failed her year one exam already, skirting by thanks to a generous professor. She wasn't smart like the other ghouls and boils, but she had wanted another chance to prove herself, right? Maybe she could with this exam. "We will get through this," she said slowly, emphasizing every single word. This time, her confidence was genuine. This time, her smile reached her eyes.

As Danny bounced towards him he tucked her against his side and rubbed his face with the palm of his hand. "According to that sign and the boogeymen guarding it," he ground out, giving the boogeymen in question a hate filled glare, "Amityville is closing down. We have two weeks to pack up and get out."
Saying the words twisted his heart, and served to fuel his anger. "I don't want to go back to my parents."

Vaith witnessed Arel's impressive display with a much more horrified reaction that when he saw the school shutting down. Considering that reaction hadn't been close to this state of true terror, exams could be interpreted as heaven and hell. Heaven for many students and faculty.
It was absolute hell for Vaith. His expression looked crestfallen, a grimace that implied that he would rather be anywhere but here right now.
Passing exams?
Breezing through exams was fine. Because whatever score Vaith got what whatever score he got. He never made much out of it. But he had never intended to pass anything. Except his year two test. But Vaith didn’t really count that, except with a prideful note that made him stand a little taller in the mirror when he got up in the morning everyday. They were treading dangerous ground here. How did one expect Vaith to pass? He could have fell face flat on the ground at that moment, from sleep. He liked sleeping through his exams. He didn’t mind if he sometimes got a zero for it. But passing was an entirely different matter. It meant studying, cramming and spending time looking at things he did not want to look at. He glanced around, to several eager students, one even dragging another off to do exams. Vaith wasn’t sure about this. His crossed his arms, one finger tapping his elbow in a show of thought, eyebrows furrowed together, in deep decision-making.
Was saving the school worth this?
… Well, records could be broken. Probably. For this massive emergency.
But Vaith couldn't help thinking, it was a little convenient, wasn’t it? Tapping his finger a little faster, Vaith tried to lay out the pieces before him. Hunters that were make-believe but not so make-believe. Frustrated students, frustrated over jack knows what, physically or emotionally. Staff members that couldn't freely talk. Demanding fussy boogeymen. Last of all, lacking students like him. Even if they did this, Vaith didn’t think it would lead to the school’s survival like instant ramen. It wasn’t a simple matter of “just add water” like “just add passing students!”
"Hmmm. I can't really decide. Or it's more like .. I dont want to decide." Vaith spoke to Note, the dragon curling around his shoulder. Note stared at him with blinking red eyes that Vaith took little comfort in.
Blinking cute eyes wasn't going to help him pass. Clearly. It didn't have answers to the exam in there.

Danny stared at the boogeymen with newfound hatred. She didn't like the look in Rikki's eyes, and ended up adopting it after she heard what was going on. They couldn't be shutting Amityville down. They just couldn't.
"You don't have to. I'll just burn down the school before they close it." Danny apparently had some very roundabout ways of thinking. It was a really stupid way of thinking too. She had the best intentions though. She had only JUST gotten back to Amityville, and this was where ... well everything happened! She met Roch and Moure, played with G and Demi ... dated Rikki ...
Someone was shouting about exams now. Exams! Danny's face twisted in horror. She was excited that there was a way to save the school, but Danny sucked at exams. SUCKED. Anything written just ended up being burned. She was usually too stupid to even get past the first question, let alone the second one. She easily had the lowest grade in Amityville. This would not be good.
She bit her lip and said, "D'you think we can do it?" She stared at Rikki with long hard eyes before pressing her head to his chest. A deep breath, and then she popped back up and said, "Of course we can. I'll see you later!" Her chipper expression was already back.
Obviously, she was already walking towards the physical equipment. Where else would she go?

Ash had been so rudely awakened by a Boogieman, one stronger than him, even, and had been even more rudely escorted outside. He'd barely had time to get his usual attire on-- helm, apron, gloves, blade. Nothing Yet What is going on? I am not awake yet, my head hurts, and I do not like it. Someone woke me and I do not wish to leave. I do not know if I can do much, but where are you? I want to be with you instead of around strangers. : | Celestia tagged along at his feet, floating through him every now and again, as Ash tried to find Thackery. There had been too many times where they'd been split up, recently. This was shaping up to end as a very poor year-- leaving Amityville meant leaving Thackery. And that just would not do.

Watching Arel stand up to the boogymen was an amazing thing to behold, and it filled Astra with a sense of pride, seeing someone so short able to outwit someone much larger then himself. Plus, they now had a chance to save the school! Beaming, she turned to face Shekh and Merope again only to see the ghoul had already run off to take her test. Wow, she was fast. With a shrug, she smilied at Merope. "Come on!" Lets go complete these tests!" She then flew off to find her own one to complete.

"Well Jack..." Gene sighed, realizing that they had no chance of reaching Arel. She almost gave up, deflated, but then their knight in shining scarves appeared, carrying their only hope: exams.
Now, Gene hadn't studied much, but... she would take the exams to save the school, her friends' home. Steeling her features, she went to take her exams.
For Amityville...

Having read the text and sharing the exact sentiments of the "strangers" comment, Thackery began to send one in reply...when he realized it would be a lot easier for him to find the tall-and-handsome Ash then it would be to send his boilfriend hunting through a sea of other students, many of whom also had ears and tails and similar heights. Instead, he about-faced, plucked up Princess Cinders, and began to hop up and down in an attempt to see over everyone. He fell over a few students on multiple jumps, but somehow still managed to catch sight of him. And Ash appeared to be looking for him too! It wasn't a surprising thing, per se, but it still made him feel fluttery. Full of scareflies fluttery. He was out of breath and panting by the time he reached him. The phys ed exam was probably not going to be his forte, should he have to take it. "There...you are!" A hasty hug. "When this is over can we just room together, I always lose you. Or maybe it's Princess Cinders' fault." He was still a little bitter that the pet hadn't gone to fetch Ash. "Are you feeling okay enough for the exams? They didn't hurt you, did they? I would...I would bite them if they did!" He seemed genuine in his intentions, but was admittedly a little afraid to touch the Bogeymen. Hoping to soothe his headache, he rubbed Ash's arm - he wasn't sure how it would help, but it probably couldn't hurt. -- With steadily brightening eyes, Shine listened to Rain's words of encouragement, imagining her friend smashing the awful Bogeymen that had dragged her from her safe, quiet dorm. In her imagination, she smashed them all into little tiny pieces, leaping tirelessly from one to the next. When all of them were gone, she gave her more candy, and walked with her back to her room, where it was nice and safe and quiet and they could sit together in the dark, talking about nice things. And nobody ever bothered them again, and they lived happily never after, just like in her fantasy books. She returned to reality when she felt something brushing against her face, shyly diverting her gaze when she realized that she'd been staring. An odd noise tried to emerge at the compliment: it sounded like the tiniest giggle, but broken and distorted, as if the zombie had forgotten how to properly laugh. As quickly as it had come, it was gone, and Shine found herself fighting hard to refrain from curling up with embarrassment. Rain was strong and trying to get them through this, and she was trying to hide over her inability to be normal? Her priorities would seem all ruined, and she would seem so weak! "Arel is good. You're better. If we...work together...we can do this?" Her pale blue eyes met Rain's, and though the emotions the other ghoul was obviously feeling were boosting her spirits substantially, she still had insecurities. "We... can work together?" Her eyes were searching frantically now, flickering between knowing that she would never voluntarily just leave her alone and afraid, and worrying that what was happening might tear them apart.

Mort went and took his written test like a good boil with weak muscles, a low accuracy FEAR, and no knowledge of healing or spells. And then he went and did a semi-crappy job on said test.
He came back from it with a facepalm and a groan, as if for sure he had doomed Amityville Academy by not knowing how scarelings were made. Rengath's rose was still clutched in hand, the thorns dug into his palm as if in punishment. He looked about to see if anyone else he knew was finished.

Closing... closing?! The news was an outrage! Tess' parents would surely not be happy with this. With her. With everything! The manananggal was going to be locked away in her room for the rest of her unlife, home schooled by Esmerelda. Th-that.. that was horrible!!!
------------------------
Hearing the school would be closed, Tro felt mostly disappointed. Was he allowed to return home to his Clan? Did that mean he completed his mission? Did that mean he failed? Okay so he felt mostly confused.

The slimer managed to slip through the crowds for a written exam. He didn’t know a lot of students nor was he really ready to exercise in using his FEAR in front of others, especially on an official test where how he does might mean the end of the academy. That was a lot of pressure, but he had to help.
He disappeared with his head down…
He reappeared from the test as a new ghost. The wide grin on his face was a give away, but the rest of his body said the same. His head was held high. His shoulders held back and his chest puffed out with confidence. The school might be coming to an end, but at the very least, he had done his best. His eyes gazed around for familiar faces, hoping to find some to share his good news to.

Lizzy had already heard from Arel about how they had planned to shut down the school; however, she did not expect it to happen so soon and without much warning... Nothing left to protect. She didn't like the sound of it at all, especially since she was sure that several of the students' resolve to protect the school and each other had recently grew stronger due to the hunters' ambush and how they had mocked them by wearing a red cloak the same way they did to remember Professor Red.
When Arel mentioned something about standardized testing and how it might save the school, she couldn't help but take that as a hint that they could still help. While she had never heard of it before, she wasn't about to question their "luck" in the matter.
Thus she hurried off to the examination grounds. With any luck, she would be able to do something for the school...

Malodore had torn itself away from Riley's side just long enough to go demand an answer for this hideous, disgusting behavior of moving a patient out of the infirmary. What it found shocked it, completely and utterly.
Beak pressed so tightly closed that it creaked, the plague doctor headed for the written exam.
--------------------
Anna had no idea what to make of all of this - the witchling clutched Shibey tightly and stared at the chaos. On one hand, if the school closed she could go home, but... then what? Would they send her somewhere else, where she didn't know anyone? Maybe it would be better to stay here, or to try to stay here...
She straightened, tucked Shibey under one arm, and marched off to take the spells and hexes exam.
