[[ Eiry - Pumpkin Carving Tables ]]

Like the dampening of a flame underneath an outstretched hand, Eiry and his fiery wings seemingly shrunk in size underneath the presence of his brother. There seemed to be nothing but disapproving frowns from his brother, lately, no...not just lately, but all the time. As far back as he could remember, the frowns of annoyance and displeasure were there, but growing more and more common. He gave his sibling a disheartened and pouting frown, glaring somberly at him from underneath the shameful hang of his head as the scorpion doled out his usual speech on his stupidity and childish nonsense.

But stand against it, he did. Eiry stood solid, forcing himself to deny his instinct to slip into intangibility. It was his way of being stronger, of not allowing his cowardice show by falling into intangibility by way of expressing his want to disappear from the conversation. Hearing Rivener follow up his harsh words with a momentary jump onto Eiry's side, the ghost sigel gave a visible flinch as he jumped again into his berating of the younger of the two. He was tired of always being blamed or yelled at, and half of the time, Eiry didn't even understand what he was doing so wrong to make others so irritable.

"I'm not a...I'm..." Eiry tried to say in his defense, but his words wilted and he grew silent.

When Alex came up to them, pressing herself into the collective of half formed bodies, Eiry finally lapsed into intangibility, frowning at Alex in a way that spoke of the hurt already implemented by the evening's situation. The damage was done. There was no way that Eiry could continue on in his happy celebration of his favorite holiday without feeling like a complete child, not when he was feeling watched and judged and quietly ridiculed behind backs and fingers. He winced away from Alex's beckon, instead dropping his head lower and holding his elbow with the worried knead of his fingers. He watched her guiltily from underneath the hang of his bangs, opening his mouth to try and say something before letting himself fall silent. For once, the loquacious sigel had nothing to say.

(( Kyou - On the barrel with Isi near the buffet table ))

"I understand what you mean." Kyou chuckled at the notion of eating preference for Raevans. "Lazarus is the same." Like Eiry, Lazarus also still prefers to feed on fire than actual human food. He said it felt like there was something in his stomach for the longest time, and it wasn't going anywhere. Maybe the feeling is kind of like constipation? However the fire Sigel do drink lots of water and juices, alcohols even. Perhaps they are easier to absorb in comparison. Both him and Isi had the same idea, with the plants slowly wilting as autumn goes on strong, the garden at the Lab would definitely be a great place for Eiry to feed at. "Maybe they will be more used to eating regular food once they are full grown as Valsaros."

Kyou was about to comment on the apple cider when Isi directed his attention to the pumpkin carving tables as well. There was quite some noises going on around there, but he had just assumed that they were having too much fun, like teenagers. Goodness, Lazarus acts like a teenager sometimes. But apparently it was worse than that. Compared to the ruckus going on over there though, the phantom was more worried about the ghostbuster beside him. Isi looked like he was about to storm on over there to drag his Raevan away, but he was worried that in Isi's condition, he wouldn't be able to. "Don't worry about them over there." He reassured Isi, grabbing his wrist just in case the youth did decided to storm on over. "Alex is there, she should be able to settle things peacefully." If there is anyone, Alex is the perfect candidate to talk them into backing down, he believes fully in Alex's capabilities. "They are still young after all, it's not really your fault." He reassured Isi, trying to calm him down. "Just think of them as teenagers. Besides, this is Halloween, Eiry's favorite holiday! It's understandable if he got a little carried away while having fun." God knows, he might have been a trouble when he was young too, which was quite a few decades ago... "Just as long as he knows and understands that he did something wrong, everyone is allowed to make mistakes."

Pausing a moment, Kyou needed to chuckle at himself a little embarrassingly. "Goodness, I sound like a mother!"

[[ Pumpkin carving table ]]

None of this was, to be quite frank, what Varun was expecting when he came to the party. He expected to dress up as Jack Sparrow (one of his favorite pirates, even if something nagging told him that he should like to eat pirates, which seemed like an entirely ridiculous notion) and find Kinsey dressed up as…what had Alex called the octopus man? Davy Jones? Yes. He would find his woman as Davy Jones, he would bring her home, and he would let her have a piece of his mind, disappearing for days like that. But there was no Kinsey, there was Prajna with someone else, there was Anya whom he didn’t understand, and there was Rivener he was being forced to trust.

There was also Basil, and Cordelia, and Cruz, and Eiry, and it was all quickly becoming far, far too much. The Leviathan’s had swam and he gave a low growl, wings flaring straight out and vibrating against the air. Small flakes of dying skin drifted away and the rumble was followed by a soft keen, bright green eyes fixed on the Scorpion as the Spider Queen retreated. None of this, I understand, he hissed, waving a delicate pale hand in dismissal. Unlike the others, Anya. Now Basil, and Eiry. Feh, time for this, I have not. Giving Rivener a cool look, he shrugged and tossed his head. Good you came, problem sorted. I have…other things, now. That was as close to thanks as Varun felt comfortable giving.

Eiry, wait! I have question, he called, brows furrowed as the Frei carefully tried to extract himself from Rivener’s presence. The Sigel may seem all charm now, but the Leviathan knew, oh he knew… And he did not need to be reminded, either. That aside, the spectral Sigel was someone Varun remembered, when he met Kinsey for the very first time. Perhaps such a knowledgeable Raevan would know where his woman had run off to. Someone must be keeping track of those things, surely?

[[Rivener = Pumpkin Carving > Drink Buffet]]

Rivener could only frown. Why was everyone taking Eiry's side all the time?! It was because he kept being forgiven and treated all nicely that the minty menace never learned where the limits were! So what if it was Halloween? So what if it was "within the spirit of the holiday"? Eiry never knew when to behave properly and when it was alright to have fun. If no one ever berated him, he'd think there were no consequences for anything!

Alex seemed intent on taking care of Eiry, and Zeke had come to corral Anya into a separate room so she might calm down. The Freis under the table seemed to be doing fine since there was no racket coming from under there, just soft rustling sounds. Even Varun was in a hurry to leave before Riv had properly apologized, and all the Scorpion could do was watch with jaw slack, huffing in frustration.

Well, there was only one thing to do when you were frustrated. Now that the hubbub was pretty much over with, Riv parted from the group and floated over to the Drinks Table, busying himself with choosing a glass... Hm, some weird fruity wine, or something red? Eventually he opted for the red, taking a sip as he turned to survey the crowd again. What could he do now, to wash out the glum atmosphere? Hm, the dunk tank might be fun, but there was no one sitting in it at the moment. He'd keep an eye on it and go later, the Sigel decided. Otherwise, there was the bob-for-treats, though it seemed to be winding to a close, and the actual pumpkin carving whose tables had been the location of that whole thing with Anya... Bah, carving pumpkins had never really interested Riv. Shrugging a shoulder, the Voodoo Raevan decided to stay put, at least for now.

((Delia – Treat Bobbing // Ebs – Outside))

For perhaps the first time ever since the basilisk had met Basil, Cordelia shot the snake boy a most sinister look. Though indeed angered by the other’s seemingly callous words, her silver eyes were mostly hurt by his inconsiderateness. “Maybe to you Baz, but not to me.” she pouted, reminding herself that he was still young and tended to forget things easily. Did she even tell him about this? Delia couldn’t remember, so maybe he wasn’t the only one with memory problems.

Luckily for her Lazarus did remember and this made the smoky girl’s sour mood disappear instantly. With fondness, Cordelia hugged the Sigel’s arm tight and nodded her acceptance of his idea. As long as they were fine with her just cheering from the sidelines while they had their fun then Delia was happy.

Pulling away while Laz got himself ready to play the water game, Delia could only giggle as he removed his beard. Honestly, she thought he looked much better without it anyway. The Incubus had such a strong and handsome face that it seemed such a shame to hide it behind all that hair. What person came up with that kind of style beard anyway? “Goooo Laz!”

She physically cringed when Lazarus’s face collided with the water. It was only natural with her condition, though she couldn’t help wondering how it would feel if she was able to do that. A tiny flare of jealously was set then, but the snake didn’t allow it to fan anymore than that. Instead she cheered as loudly as her wispy voice could manage and clapped excitedly when the elder Raevan emerged from the watery depths victorious.

Too caught up in the moment, Delia didn’t register the prize of fruit the Sigel was offering to share with them then. Excitedly, she bobbed up and down, her black rune pulsing rapidly. “Yeah yeah! Your turn Basil! Good luck!” Encouraging the younger serpent with a bright smile, the black Frei gently gave the other a push forward towards the bobbing tank.

“You are always pretty. Do you know that?”

David’s words froze her to the spot like a chilled winter breeze, even managing to bring a bright reddening to her tanned cheeks as well. The way he looked at her wasn’t one of lust or longing, merely one of appraisal, like one would if they were staring at a beautiful piece of artwork or a precious gem. Though his words seemed a bit slurred, no doubt due to alcohol, she couldn’t help but feel like he was finally giving her a bit of insight to his true feelings. Yet there was still that nagging in the back of her head, the warning light going off and reminding her what he did at night. He was an actor after all and a good one at that if memory served correct of him being one of the more popular hosts for the Queen’s Collection. The caveman was use to figuring out what it was exactly that women wanted to hear to make them happy.

Ebony might have accepted his reinforcement of his prior assessment on her beauty if David hadn’t ruined it by tapping her nose and laughing. Thus the warning light went off louder in her head. She narrowed her eyes. Was he making fun of her?! And here she was worrying about him and all for nothing. Yup she’d been right, it would have been better if she’d just left him alone after all.

With a sigh touched with a bit of annoyance, the Brit roughly brushed his hand away from her face. “I knew it. You are drunk. I’m going to go before you say anything else dumb you’ll regret.” Carefully she began her descent from the top of the haystack, disappointment coloring every part of her face. What exactly had she been expecting anyway? Truly she had to be a masochist; there just wasn’t any other explanation.

((Basil - Treat Bobbing ))

Basil had been startled by the chilly glare he received from his Delia, and the vehemence of her words. Backing from her, he frowned deeply, uncomprehending, only vaguely aware that he had committed some offense against her, the thought of which stung him to the core.

He said nothing in reply, in what could have passed for a holding of the tongue, though in truth, there were no words he could muster. He turned from her, glancing ruefully over his shoulder before facing the basin and watching as the Red One dunked a formidable, horned head into the water, coming up with "fruitful" rewards in his clenched teeth. At first he had felt a flash of excitement, his body shuddering and eager to claim his place at the rim of the tub. His turn next! He might have forgotten his blunder, much as he forgot a great deal of things from day to day, but something had made him aware that Lazarus was receiving a lion's share of the praise. Cordelia had rewarded him with kindness as he displayed his treasures, and while it was not typical of Basil to feel anything analogous to jealousy, a resentment brewed inside of him that fermented into determination. The eagerness to please so characteristic of him taking a sinister turn. His face communicated in no uncertain terms that he planned to make this ordeal less about fun, and more about competition, effectively proving to Cordelia that he was still worthy of her.

Both the Basilisk and the Incubus offered him gentle encouragement, the demon's face still shiny with water. Cordelia had even smiled, as if the slate were clean. It did not deter him, his eyes cold, and holding a deep breath, he forced his head beneath the water. At first he thrashed his arms, several tails from the coat falling heavily into the basin, surrounding his face as he clipped and gnashed his teeth. When his lips felt the sharp edge of plastic, he didn't hesitate, his head surfacing with a ziplock hanging heavily from his mouth. He didn't have the good sense to open the baggie from the top, as he was meant to, instead, disembowling it from the side with his fingernails.

It was an assortment of sweet things, for the impartial candy eater. Curious, he cupped his hands around the items and inhaled deeply through his nose, finding the mixed aroma to not only be sweet, but with a fruity bouquet. The Jolly Ranchers and Airheads. The chocolate he didn't much care for, shoveling his earnings back into the baggie, which he then offered to Cordelia with both hands. She would appreciate these things more than he would, with an even chance of returning to her good graces. "I don't like candy." He said softly, nearly a mutter. "I just... wanted to play. You sure you won't do it too?" He punctuated with genuine innocence.

((Shepard == middle of room; Vivi == Pot luck table))

Oh! Vivi thought, to have had this man in the circus! How well he would have fit. To have been able to see him once, roaming the crowds after all had been seated and the lights had gone low, to flow through them like an apparition, to hear him speak and inspire them all to wonder and awe.

Vivi heard his compliments with a wide smile. She was determined to make a friend of him now. Inside, she already considered him to be special, even though hardly a moment had passed from their greeting. This was how she decided things, all based on the whisperings of her mercurial heart, and this one she heard gladly. He was too thrilling to let by as one of the many, no matter what the faults that lay behind that cloak and behind that skin – even if he were wicked… especially if he were wicked.

That skin! Like he was wrapped around a sun! He could not be human. Vivi was unsure if it was his costume or the feel of his so-warm skin, but he gave off an aura of being more than human – a Raevan, perhaps?

“Aa~” she murmured admiringly, taking in his costume, his physique, his aura. “Such a gentleman, to humor and to compliment! But I see you do not know the French, and I must be a little sad – for, you see, the best compliments to a gentleman are certainly those that are French.” She looked up at him with her bright, heavy-lashed eyes and dipped into a slight curtsy. “With permission, I will teach some words. N’est pas, it means, ‘is it not so?’ And, enchantée, it means, ‘I am pleased to meet you.’ I am Vivi.” She dipped her head. "And the Raevan to whom I will be a companion – it is unfortunately that he or she has not yet been born, you see.”

She shook her head, still smiling. “And now you must tell me – is it considered impolite to ask the name of a god? I must know with whom I have the pleasure.”

-

Shepard grinned as his cowboy hat came down over his eyes and Anita dipped out of sight. He’d seen her stick out her tongue, and he’d seen that strange look on her face when he’d started talking in his fake-Southern accent, and it made him feel, well …he didn’t quite know the word. Like he’d had a first drink and his brow had loosened out of its faint, constant frown. Relaxed, maybe? Ready to laugh. And he did laugh as he flicked his hat back up and looked around to find Anita– where was she? It wasn’t more than a moment before he caught sight of her, doing her strange mimic-keep-away dance behind him.

“Girl, yer gonna hurt yerself,” Shepard said, amused. “Gotta know though – ya put that costume on in hopes of findin’ a fattened-up wolf, or ya come with one ready made?”

(( Laz - Treat bobbing ))

Happily clueless, Lazarus was unaware of all the underlying emotions both Delia and Basil were brewing - Basil's resentment and competition, as well as Delia's spark of jealousy. He just assumed that everyone was having fun, at least the basilisk looked like she is. Red eyes stare at the cobra curiously, he seemed a less excited compared to a moment before, he wondered why was that as he cocked his head slightly in curiousity.

A dip of the face into the water, Basil had a bit of a difficulty trying to grab a bag, but he was successful as he pulled a bag out filled with colorful treats. "Woohoo!" Lazarus cheered with Delia as Basil emerged out of the water victorious. However his happy expression was replaced by a mild surprise when Basil tore open the baggie from the side instead of from the top. Quietly he looked on as Basil offered the broken bag to Delia, a few Jolly Ranchers spilling out of the hole as he did so. Bending low, he picked those up and opened his own bag with the fruits to drop them in, it was a fairly large bag and would be able to fit in even Basil's one. Still holding the bag open, he handed it to Delia. Only a few drops of water was left on the outside of the bag, that is the wonder of plastic bags - being waterproof. So he was sure Delia would be alright with holding it. "Come drop your bag here, it's broken and the candies are falling out. We could put everything together first and divide them later." It was a sincere gesture as he pointed into the bag's opening. "I'm going to get another bag!"

And with that he loomed over the water in the tank once more as crimson eyes searched for his next target. He had grabbed a large bag, maybe he could go for a different one next. A shimmer caught his attention in the water, maybe that was all he needed to decide on a target. Dipping his face once more into the water, he tried to grab the bag out with his teeth. However, his teeth did not find it's target this time and he had to resurface a little to breathe. The bag was sunk deeper than he thought. Drawing another deep breath, he dipped his face into the tank once more, going deeper down this time with the water almost reaching his ear, and finally caught a bag in his teeth.

Taking the baggie in his left hand as he wipe his face of water with his other, he opened the bag from the top, making sure that Basil see it this time, to peer into the treasures within. An assortment of candy bars sit inside the bag - Kit kats, Hersheys, Reese's, Snickers. All brands that he knew Kyou would like. He could easily count at least 10 bars in there, which was pretty generous. It was the metallic golden wrapping of Twix that caught his attention. "Kyou would love these." He said with a chuckle as he closed it. Floating a little bit away from the tank, he indicated that Basil should go next. Despite what Basil might be thinking, the fire Sigel actually find this rather fun. It's like treasure hunting!

((Josh: Food buffet ; LuLu: Outer edge of the room ))

LuLu glanced around the room once more. She weighed her gaze heavily on each attendee before she gave her response. She shook her head softly, her braids swayed with the motion, “No. I only know a few.” She then peered up at Wasa. Her slender brow was quirked into a curious arch. She had never been asked that question before. The frei’s wings gave a small flap as they settled down against her back. The rabbit cooed softly at the human, “Oooohs.” She punctuated her sentence by forming a “U” shaped trench with her palm.

The raevan then shot a gaze back towards Melisande. She had not gotten an answer yet and was becoming a bit antsy. Perhaps the sigel was nervous about saying hello? LuLu could relate to that fear. Meeting new raevans could definitely be a challenge at times. The rabbit had probably “struck out” just as many times as she had gotten a home run. Nevertheless, there was strength in numbers and LuLu would be sure to have Pasha’s back should any trouble arise. A cuffed arm reached out and took the muse’s hand. LuLu gave a bright smile as she began to pull Melisande along towards the various event and food tables everyone was centered around.

She untwined herself from her elder once they arrived. LuLu’s lavender eyes darted around in search of the purple haired frei from earlier. She released a despondent huff when the spider was nowhere to be found. The rabbit turned her attention to Meli, “I am going for a moment. Call me if you have any trouble Pasha.” LuLu was unsure what trouble the muse could get into. However, she still extended the offer. “I will not wander too far.” With that said, the rabbit floated off towards the edge of the barn in search of Anya.

Josh’s face grew three shades brighter when Namini grasped his hands and threaded her fingers through his own. Copper eyes glinted in the light as the widened in surprise. Those eyes could not help but fall upon the girl’s smile, or rather, her lips. They loomed so closely to him it was almost as if the girl were intentionally trying to tease him. The boy cleared his throat with a rough cough and laughed away his nerves, “Everything has been going good enough. How are things on your end?”

Josh’s smile only grew as he watched David make his exit. Now the only thing that could have put a damper on his night was leaving the building. Things seemed to be looking up for the teenager.

((Delia – Treating Bobbing))

When Basil thrashed himself into the pool of water, Cordelia had an odd sensation then like she was seeing this scene played a second time though she was positive it was the first. The flash was so disorienting she had to hold her head a moment. 'What…what was that?' she thought to herself.

She was surprised out of her confusion when the young cobra, dripping wet from his turn in the game presented her with his prize. Delia was a bit hesitant in accepting his present at first, not just because of her aquaphobia, but because of the sheer seriousness in the boy’s dark eyes. They seemed to be pleading to her for something, though what she wasn’t completely sure.

“Ah…thank you Basil.” she replied meekly as she accepted the candy, although not particularly one of her most favorite things, she just wanted him to be happy and stop looking at her like that. Quickly Delia shook her head, “I’m sure. Water and me…hee, well we don’t really mix…” 'Literally…' the girl thought.

Grey eyes blinked at yet another damp baggie being offered to her then, this time by Lazarus. “Oh! Um, thank you.” Cordelia replied to the demon as she quickly poured the loose candy into the bigger bag. As she held the bag awkwardly between her thumb and index finger (still not liking the feeling of water being anywhere near her if even a little bit), the smoke Raevan couldn’t help the small blush. The way the boys had just given her their prizes one after the other like that made her feel weird, like they were trying to out do one another or something. She wasn’t anything special, was she?

Luckily the feeling disappeared once the Sigel commented on his newest bag. Giving a warm smile as she watched Basil go for a second turn, Cordelia tucked some loose hair behind one ear and addressed her elder. “Speaking of, I haven’t seen him in a long time. How is the Doctor?” Of course he must have been quite busy lately what with that whole frozen Lab incident, the details of which she was still rather curious about, yet decided would probably be rude of her to bring up just now.

[Melisande - Pumpkin Carving Table]

Pasha started a bit as Lulu tugged at her, but the Sigel floated along without any resistance. It was becoming frustrating trying to make out the world through the milky fog of her white contacts...she gave the Frei's arm a little squeeze of thanks for the assistance. The Muse's other hand quested out blindly, patting for Wasa and guiding her along as well.

It was surprising how different the new area smelled. Tantalizing aromas of food were mixed with something much more...vegetable? Patches of orange colored her pale vision, and the Sigel gazed at the pumpkin carving table with wide eyes. What was all this?

She blinked and dipped slightly in the air as Lulu excused herself, gracefully pausing in a new half curtsy pose. "Thank you, Lulu! I hope to see you again!" Pasha turned her face toward where she assumed Wasa was, and tilted her head.

"Have you introduced yourself to Doctor Kyou, yet? He is..." Pasha's head was still tilted, as she listened. She heard a low chuckle, and smiled, pointing sightlessly towards a few figures near the barrels. "There!"

Something in the Muse's tone suggested it was polite to introduce oneself to the host of a party. Pasha was used to offering such little cues for Wasa...even if it had been a long time since they'd had occasion to associate.

(( Basil: Treat Bobbing ))

Feeling hostile against the competition, Basil was hesitant to do as Lazarus suggested and combine the two bags together, though logistically, it only made sense. He felt almost as if he were minimalizing Basil's efforts to impress Cordelia, and stick his nose where it wasn't welcome. Even Cordelia only seemed to accept his proposal with a half-hearted politeness. Appease him, then turn to the demon for fresh conversation. They remained friendly, and he remained bent on yielding the bigger prize.

He had known at the start that technically, competition was a relative impossibility. There was no way to discern a winner, and each were allowed only three turns each. As far as Basil knew, Cordelia had never even shown an interest in human food. Perhaps what he felt was a fear that he would be outshined. The Sigel was older and more palatable. He was genuinely charming, and had a better grasp of language. He could hold a conversation longer than he could, maybe even be a better friend. Often, Basil had been envious of the talents and capabilities of others, but had never let it harm anyone but himself, never lashed out. But now, he felt that Cordelia's involvement upped the ante. He had never considered that his inferiority might allow him to lose a friend. If the goal of Halloween was to be terrifying, that thought alone petrified him.

He turned back towards the pool, watching his reflection. The water still sloshed and undulated from the demon's turn, rippling his face. For a moment, it seemed to be scowling at him, his heart clenched. He might have felt an invisible hand force the back of his head into the water, warning him that time was a factor. He wasn't there long, nearly drenched to his shoulders as he came up with a new bag. He shook his head like a wet dog, spraying warm water and inspecting his reward.

It was different than his previous batch. At least he had the advantage of variety. He couldn't identify specific candies, knowing only that most of them were chocolate. He held on to one of the red ropes however. A twizzler. He had never seen anything like it, letting it dangle limply from his fingers. He sniffed it once, took an over-indulgent bite and nearly wanted to throw up. He didn't know why he insisted on putting things in his mouth... He rarely liked what he found. Knowing that it was rude to throw things, as he was tempted to do, he stuffed what remained in his pocket with the wary hesitance of a child wiping their hands on their pant-leg. He then of course, offered the rest to Delia, warning her, "That red thing in there... Don't eat it. M'sorry..." He almost felt as he had failed.

((Zeke and Anya -- By the Storage Room at the back of the barn))

The Frei kept moving along the wall until she could go no farther. The back end of the barn came into view and forced her to halt, which in turn caused her to double over. The area was quiet and without bodies of any sort, but the Frei didn't notice or care. What she did care about was the hurt in her hands, the hurt in her chest, and the overall swirl of emotions within her that made her feel like she wanted to spew bile.

How had a night that was supposed to be fun - or in Anya's case, a bore fest that she would just put up with - so quickly spiraled into this? She didn't even begin to think on it, but would later when she was calm and there was nothing left in her but pain and anger. In the meantime she leaned against the wall she had come upon in her haste, looking at her still shaking hands and groaning as she heard Zeke's voice behind her.

"Anya!" Zeke came to a stop a few steps short of where the spider queen was. Concern had doubled on his face during the jog from the pumpkin tables to this spot, leaving him looking nearly distressed. His eyes roamed over his Frei's doubled over form and even though her wings were aloft in that 'stay away from me' posture, the veterinarian still cleared the small space between them to be at her side. "C'mon let's find you a place to sit down..."

The door to the storage room was just to the right of them. It wasn't the most ideal place but at least it was somewhere the Frei could sit down without being detected or accosted by others. There were plenty of chairs still inside and it was heated, so the only problem now would be getting the Frei in there. Easy on paper, not so much in practice. When the vet went for the doorknob, Anastacia rounded on him.

"What are you doing?" Her month long silence towards him had now been broken for good and she glared at him with all her hurt and rage. Zeke paused with the door ajar, not withering under that ire-filled gaze, but unhappy to see it all the same.

"Opening this so you can go inside and sit down," he said simply, giving the Frei another reassuring smile. As before, it did little to quell the spider queen and her negative feelings and in fact only ignited her hatred toward the vet's "stupid" smile.

"I don't want to go in there!" She just wanted to stay put, here, where it was dark and she could curl up until her hands stopped aching and shaking. If she moved, she knew, she would draw attention to herself and attract more imbeciles and their ilk toward her like she was some sort of side show freak. She bared her teeth at the very idea and pressed against the wall. She was staying put.

Zeke let the doorknob go and turned his body back toward his ward. His eyes ticked over her before turning over the now-dispersed crowd and those who hadn't come over, but were still present. His smile faded into a neutral line, but slipped upward again into a small smile when he looked back at the spider queen.

"Do you want to go home?" The answer surprised him.

"No!" Had anything else happened the Frei would have been leading the march out ages ago. But not now and the reason was elementary in her head - she moved and attention would be brought with only more eyes being cast upon her if she made her way toward the barn's doors now. No, she would not submit herself to that and would instead wait until the entire party had cleared before she would make to leave herself.

"W-Well...Are you sure, Anya?"

"Yes." It was spoken on an acidic tone and Anastacia glared harder at her man. What part of 'no' did he not understand? Why was he so damn dumb? She pressed herself further against the wall, grumbling under her breath at her guardian before turning her eyes down at her hands once more. They continued to leak still and the sight alone made the spider queen's grumbling transform into an unmuted, shaky half-whine.

Zeke dropped the subject fast at that sound, eyes widening at such an unfamiliar noise coming from his Frei before reaching out to take her hands. Anastacia saw the movement and pulled her hands away from him, but cast her wings out toward the vet as a means of defense.

"Don't touch me." It was hissed and she meant it, but while that sound was threatening, Zeke wasn't deterred.

"Anya," he said gently, "let me see."

"No! Go away!"

(( Alex --> Pumpkin Carving Tables || Zul --> Pot Luck Table ))

Seeing Eiry physically deflate and actually show guilt for being who he was sparked a generous flame of rage in the Italian. She didn't understand how everyone could stand to ridicule the Raevan who wasn't actually acting a whole lot different than usual when it had been the Virus who had over-reacted. Alex supposed most people had a blind-spot when it came to younger beings, even when they weren't human; were they expecting the Sigel to know better? Shouldn't the Frei have known about the haunts of the night? She'd have to have a talk with Zeke to see just what he was teaching the poor girl.

"Eiry, you're not a pain in the a** and you're not a bother," she stated very plainly, hand still outstretched. "Look -- the new guy and Prajna are back under there like nothing happened, Stacia is a reclusive spider, not a social butterfly -- you're still Eirdirsceol, you are a spirit of the night and no one is mad but your brother and he'll always be hard on you. That's the job of a big brother - believe me, I know." Offering a patient smile to the Sigel, her eyes suddenly lit with the promise of an idea. Glancing around the immediate area as though to conspire, she took a few steps closer ti Eiry and lowered her voice. "Hey, this party is winding down anyway -- why don't you and I go out and salvage what's left of the night? We can go find other parties to crash or haunt a haunted house or something. Anything you want! This isn't the end-all-be-all, and I love this time of year. I might be able to get Isi to come too! What do you say?"

The words that the demon was taught by the enigmatic Vivi were entirely apropos. Zul couldn't stop grinning behind his aquiline mask, absolutely charmed by her confident demeanor and sweet, if not somewhat delicate manners. She certainly looked the part of the dainty marionette but the self-assured way she handled herself spoke of an inner peace that he found immensely appealing. "Then I must learn of your language so I might properly offer you an acceptable compliment!" he responded in a bemused manner, his grin audible in his voice. The Sigel was, if anything, a good student; he was quick to learn, and though he'd never been exposed to a lesson of tongues, his interest was piqued. Vivi's sweet, direct words won the demon over easily, deciding the least he could offer such a silver-tongued belle was an earnest introduction.

Floating back just a little, he lifted his hands to begin to unfasten his mask, the green hood being worked at first. "Were it impolite, certainly any deity would forgive any transgression for a maiden so fair, Lady Vivi," he teased, removing the green fabric. Bone-framed wings arched and spread from where they were freed, his creme-to-flame hair sharp and angular by comparison to the smooth contours his hood had provided. The transparent sun came with it, allowing his curved horns a similar freedom. Draping the hood over his forearm, he used his thumb to unlatch the avian mask from around his elongated ears, removing the ivory-colored guise from his tanned features. The smoky glass of the eye-holes left his own vivid blues with constricted pupils as they took in the meager lighting. Holding the mask in the same hand that the rest of his mantle was draped over, he put his then freed hand over his decorated chest, fingertips against his skin as he bowed politely from the waist. "As a lesser being, I humbly accept a request for a name. I am Zul."

In his half-bowed position, he extended his hand from his chest to take one of Vivi's painted ones, righting himself to see her more clearly without his costume to impede his vision. "I know not the proper French words to flatter you with as of yet, but I am extremely honored to make your acquaintance. Enchantée, my lady, but the pleasure is certainly all mine." Offering one of his most charming smiles, Zul dipped his tri-horned head and pressed his lips to the back of Vivi's hand, blue eyes lidded into crescent moons above his smile.
