The next house yielded another little ghostly lollipop, it seemed. The trailing spirit seemed pleased by these the most, actively bobbing and drifting about the bucket after they were dropped in. They must have been a motley crew, Cris wagered. A zombie-cat, a pink-haired necromancer, and a small ghost. But here on Halloween...they fit right in with the hordes of oddly-dressed children and teens out, scavenging the streets for candy.

Every kid loves a spider ring and the Night children plus friends are no expectation. So when they went to a house run by tons of collage kids. They loved the way the kids dressed. Gabriel didn't like what the female students were wearing. So he quickly got the team out of the there, and it wasn't easy.

Oh yes, another spider ring for his collection! He shuffled the one ring on his other hand over, lining all the rings up on his fingers and seeming highly pleased with his cache. He giggled madly, having his ringed hand about.
"Rawr, I gotta spider hand! Oooh, spooky! Todd is the spookiest! Ooooh!" he said, brandishing it at anyone and everyone that would even remotely pay attention.

After another slew of houses, it became apparent the boy was fast becoming sleepy. He yawned more frequently, and his heavy pumpkin bucket dragged and scraped against the ground. His cane lazily skimmed the ground and he stumbled over cracks more, grunting tiredly and whining. Though it wasn't too late into the night, all the walking had the boy tired. A good sit-down at house in front of the TV-box would be nice. His feet hurt, he was chilly, and he didn't want to walk.
He turned to Cris, sticking his arms up and grunting. "Tired. Don' wanna walk no more. Carry Toddy. Toddy sleepy!" he demanded.
Cris laughed and scooped up the boy and his bucket effortlessly. "How about we hit one more house and then go home?"
Todd nodded. "One more. Then we go home." he yawned. One more sounded good.
The last house yielded a nice cache of candy, the occupants, ooh-ing and ahh-ing over how cute father and son looked. Cris gave a polite nod and a wave as they left. He just had to figure out where he parked the Jeep so they could get back to home and get settled in. And get the boy bathed. He was still ungodly stick and slimy from the goodies he got. Ugh.
All and all, though, it had been a good night. A few misses, but mostly some good hits. Todd seemed completely happy, especially as he napped against his guardian. Cris could only imagine how much of a kick the boy would get out of other holidays, like thanksgiving and Christmas...it made him frankly excited. Maybe being a dad wouldn't be as bad as he thought.
