You are better than any online generator. I was just thinking about giving you a rest and giving everyone an opportunity in making their own shields.

And update your avatar repeatedly, I see. Back in my day we picked one representation of ourselves and stuck with it. Why, I've been protecting this pug from evil-doers for longer than I can remember! (Of course, I do have severe memory issues... mrgreen )

I just throw around my avi until i find something i actually like. Then stick with it.

Most of the time it is something ridiculous, then i have to change it since people don't take you seriously, and I try and recruit for my other guild. So i go from trying to be lighthearted by having an avi people can laugh at, to something that actually might look "cool" and so on.

I do like what I have now. WIZARD!

The Raven wants a cookie and something to write about in his court...I am trying to decided where to take him...

2 ideas:
1) Eastern Marches. Saxony is an obvious candidate for leading the expansion eastward (and, historically, played an important rule in doing just that).
2) Thuringia. Saxony currently has some holdings there. Why not push for the actual Dukedom?

I'm weird: My reflection on your letter is longer than the actual letter. mrgreen
EDIT: And my letter of reply is shorter than both. mrgreen

New coats of arms! Now in ultra-large, "Resize them yourself, I'm not here to make your court for you" size! mrgreen

Ralph of Hainaut
Elizabeth of Wessex
Guntram of Saxony
Faustus of Swabia

I left the archbishops alone for now since so far everyone's only been interested in playing as counts & dukes. I think I might have to rethink their roles in all of this...

Since no one in ecclesiastical hierarchy will be allowed to marry, for realism sake, I can understand why everyone chose other kind of characters.

I think some priories here and there for dinasties to start as a simple monk and try to scalate to Archbishop or even Pope would give players a reason to devote some of their sons to God, like people used to do in that age.
Also, for daughters, there is the posibility of scalate to prioress (female counterpart of a prior), or even to an abbess (female of abbot), wich could grant dinasties a new stat, piety: The way the Church thinks about them. Or from the prestige's side: how much influence you have on Church's decisions.

Something I was considering was a kind of "influence" system to allow players to control unclaimed Archbishoprics. I think it could work well since high-ranking clergy tended to cycle fairly regularly instead of inheriting at 20 and ruling another twenty to thirty years, and it helps to create a dynamic where politics and the church are more intertwined while still giving some flexibility in how to do the influencing: A ruler like Saxony's would probably be more inclined to force Archbishops under them to be their supporters, while other rulers might choose to donate funds and/or privileges to the church to appear more pious, possibly gaining support from Archbishops they don't have as much control over.
Maybe it could even serve as a replacement to the prestige system since it was originally created to give some influence to more minor characters like bishops anyway. Maybe a supplement? I need to figure something out...

I can see a whole new system of prestige where daughters and non heir sons can be helpful to their families by devoting their lifes to God. While some would do it for the sake of making the world better, I know a few could have another intentions and use those ranks to benefit themselves and their own dinasty. This, of course, will generate some friction between dinasties and make them interact more.

Yes, I'm a count, everyone is ignoring me because of that, so I would be good to have some other way of interacting.

Either that, or I could manage to roleplay two dinasties, if you allow me.

Eh, I don't know about that one. You could switch to Franconia if you'd like, though; I wouldn't mind having the duke ranks filled up... mrgreen

My biggest issue in design is trying to find the perfect mix between "role-playing" and "game". If I rely entirely on players to drive everything, everything gets made up on the spot and that makes it hard to keep up with what's going on. On the other hand, if I have too much made already it crams the RP into a small box and everything becomes more about the already defined stats and numbers than creativity.
For example, I don't want to have an event laid out for the expansion into the Eastern Marches and say "Ok, when you spent X amount, I'll roll this"; I want a player to come to me before-hand with something in mind, and then I'll write up an event, maybe tell them to spend some Value and give a small bonus if their RP and the situation is good enough.

The only "but" I can say to all this roleplaying, is Demonicurse suddenly becoming too busy to participate. She roleplays as the king, and the story just can't advance without her.

Got rid of prestige and the Archbishops. No use in cluttering things up, after all. mrgreen

Talked with the missus and decided that simple is better. If anyone wants to do anything, just send a PM or post here and we can make it happen. smile
