Deacon could feel his cheeks heat. Was he blushing? Him, blushing? Oh, hell no. He knew he didn't still stink... Did he? It was impossible.... Right? Right?
He was actually unable to utter a real, coherent comeback. Instead, he went with the desire to have the last word. Somehow, that would make up for the embarrassment. He sneered at Riyo, stepping aside to sweep past ******** off, freak."

Riyo managed to catch a small glimpse of the red on the other feline's cheeks, unable to hide a little smirk. The sweet taste of-
... Victory...
Well, that was uncalled for. How was it the most unoriginal comebacks cut so deep?
Smirk turning into a grimace, her red eyes followed his body, a leg immediately slipping out into his path once again. This time, very intentionally. He'd be the freak when his nose ended up swelling to the size of a pumpkin from making out with the cold, hard floor.

Deacon felt better. For the half step he took before his foot bumped into the ghoul's.
He felt himself falling, and he did anything that any other cat would do in such a situation... He twisted 'round, grabbed and clung hold of the nearest object - Riyo - and hoped that he could pull himself back up and make up for the sudden loss of balance.

Haha! Sweet v-
Riyo didn't have time to crack a smile, unfortunately. OH, RIGHT. CAT-LIKE REFLEXES. HOW STUPID OF HER TO FORGET!
"FUUUU-" She started as he grabbed her trenchcoat, unable to keep her own balance with him trying to use her as some kind of pillar. Fitness club was starting to sound better and better, because the cat demon fell over like a baby struck about the head with a baseball bat.
At the very least, nobody else was there to watch her folly...

Failing to scale the other feline to save himself, the tabby ended up falling flat onto his back after his particularly amazing bad maneuver, pulling her down on top of him.
Not to say she was heavy, but the weight of another body landing on him wasn't what he considered comfortable. Not when it was without his permission at least.
"GET OFF." He demanded, despite the fact his nails were still firmly dug into her coat.

THUD.
The top hat that generally clung to her head landed a foot away from the scene, her golden hair draping over the body under her.
It took the shocked demon a moment to realize what had just happened... And where she was now.
the "GET OFF" made it abundantly clear...
Oh sweet Jack and Sally, she'd fallen on top of him.
Tail frizzing out almost immediately, her head shot up to look at him...
And her face was as red as a cherry.
Oh, she tried to get up. Tried desperately to skitter away so she could compose herself again and pretend like this whole thing hadn't happened...
But she couldn't.
"L-let go!" She practically squeaked, the cool exterior she worked so hard to keep up shattered to pieces. The generally intense look in the ghoul's eyes were replaced with a panic of epic proportions.

Suddenly realizing that he still had his nails hooked into her trenchcoat, he pulled them free. Then, thrust his arms forward in a rather rough shove to 'help' the ghoul off of him.
And to think, one of them just could have given a simple 'excuse me' and none of this awkwardness would have happened.
Deacon was quick to get to his feet, straightening his clothes and dusting them hastily. In his own embarrassment, he couldn't even bring himself to feel like he'd achieved something by bringing Riyo to panic.
Thank Jack that no one else was paying them any mind.

Riyo was about as prepared for the shove as she was for the fall in the first place, which left her toppling over onto her back.
For a brief moment, she wiggled around as if she was a horizontally challenged turtle trying to crawl on the ceiling with no progress.
Until she finally regained the brain capacity to flip herself over.
Like a wounded animal, the feline crawled over to her hat and scooped it up, holding it tightly as if it was her only friend (it was).
There were few moments of the day where Riyo felt shame. So when it came in truck-loads, she wasn't sure what to do. Her ears fell back against her head as her tail curled up. It was a little pitiful.
What could she say? What could she DO? Anything from this point would just add to the suffocating awkwardness she felt. It had been fun up to that point... Now it was anything but..

It was pretty obvious that Deacon had won their little argument, if it could be called that... So why did he feel like s**t when she sat there all curled up and depressed? Usually, he would have been amused to see such a thing. Usually, he would have rubbed salt in the wound.
Well, it was a ghoul. That was the reason, he decided, that made him approach her and offer a hand down to her.
"Get up." He stated firmly, but he lacked the disrespectful tone that had been leaking out of his mouth without filter in those few seconds' earlier. He had adverted his gaze a little, as not to meet her gaze, with his expression as neutral as he could muster.

Honestly, Riyo had expected the boil to laugh at her and walk away...
So what the hell was this? It was as if she couldn't comprehend the kind gesture he'd offered... Or she was afraid of it.
Instead of shouting at him for bossing her around, she simply pushed herself up. The feline didn't take helping hands anymore... Not after what the last one got her.
"Sorry... I don't take hands..." Why was she apologizing? HE was the douche...
Averting his gaze much like he was doing to her, Riyo dusted herself off and carefully replaced the hat on her head. "I'll be ******** off now." She said calmly after shoving her hands in her pockets.

Deacon had retracted his hand when the ghoul pushed herself up on her own, stepping back to give her breathing room as she dusted herself off as he had done himself.
There was a light twitch of his ears with her final statement, a flicker of something in his eyes. Regret? Surely not, he'd never fallen victim to wishing to take back anything he'd said to someone. Things he saw as true, anyway.
But...
"I shouldn't have said that." He stated, looking at her, though still not meeting her gaze for a few long seconds. There was a long pause, in which he tried to think of an appropriate thing to say. Sorry would have been simple for anyone else, but not him.
"You hungry?" He offered, tilting his head in a gesture toward the food line. "I was going to get something to drink, so uh... I can get you something, too."
The fact that she had been leaving when they ran into each other only seemed to make him realize how stupid his words were after he'd already spoken them.

Riyo paused in her step as she heard the boil halfheartedly apologize for his words. Seriously, did she have a sign on her back that said 'suck up to me, I have money'? Subconsciously, her tail swayed against her trench coat to check for the rustling of paper.
"Why are you being nice to me?" The ghoul asked after a moment of silence, turning her head just enough to see him over her shoulder. "I called you a douche and said you smell like dog s**t..." She could've called him an idiot for not realizing she'd already ate earlier, but the fact that his attitude had somehow reached the other end of the spectrum within seconds bothered her.
"I don't need pity. You just... Caught me off guard." Not that she was ever ON guard for that kind of thing...

There was a mild flicker of irritation in his eyes when the ghoul reminded him of the insults, his ears tilting back just slightly. The muscles of his jaw tensed, but somehow he managed to keep from letting himself get upset all over again.
"Yeah, well, I wasn't watching where the ******** I was going, as you put it."
Ghoul or not, he could only tolerate feeling awkward for so long, let alone near a doorway where his actions could be witnessed and potentially tarnish the bad a** attitude he was convinced that he had.
"I'm thirsty. I thought you might be, too. I'm going to go get something to drink. If you want to join me, that's your choice. If not, I guess I'll see you around."

It looked like Riyo was about to open her mouth to say something, but appeared to shove her foot in her mouth for once in her life.
She could A. Continue to make a b***h of herself and drive away another person from ever wanting to speak with her, or B. drop it for now and probably have another equally amusing fight later.
Right. The ladder it was.
Instead of confirming whether she would stay or not, the ghoul turned around and headed back for the kitchen.
Flipping out her wallet (which was filled with cash), she grabbed a little carton of milk and paid for it without another thought. He'd offered to buy her one, but being the stubborn ghoul that she was, she wouldn't have any of that.
"I swear to Jack if this is curdled..." Riyo mumbled after she paid for it and had a seat not to far off, waiting for her new acquaintance to join her.

This was one of the very few locations that Aislin had not yet visited that was open to her as a visitor. With everything settling and slowing down it was the most ideal place to just... relax. The banshee found an empty table (not like many of them were exactly full) and slid onto the bench. She eyed the food that was set out but ultimately decided against it. It wasn't like she needed to eat or anything, anyway.
The moment of silence and peace gave her a moment to think of everything that had happened that day. It had been SO FAST and intense. So many faces... and... and actually. A lot of those faces she'd probably not be seeing anywhere but on groanspring. She knew that she was going to be a part of the school any-time now... but the others. Well they really were just visitors.
Aislin grew uncharacteristically still, her mouth turning down into the very smallest of frowns. Cat would be leaving. Where was he? And Muka would go... was Joachim leaving? A-And Cady. And then there was Dom. And... so many more. Privately she tried to remember everyone's name and store it away in the back of her mind to search for on groanspring later.
