Sain

User Image

Ladies how about a lovely dinner?

Sain had no idea where he was at. He was just getting his horse Homeros out from the stables to go for a ride. When he got out of the stables, he realized he wasn't where he thought he was. When he turned around he even noticed the stables had changed.

"Where in the name of Saint Elimine am I?" He asked himself. Sain rode off to find out where he was at.

After a bit of riding around, asking people where he was he learned he was in the city of Eyris in the country on Learania.

"Well I'm not in Elibe anymore," He sighed, "This is not good. I have no idea where anything is at and no one knows who I am." He had a frown on his face until an idea came and he got a wide grin on his face. "Then I shall have to find a place to show of my knightly skills!" His right arm was in the air as if he was punching it. Everyone who was even close enough to Sain turned and looked at him weirdly. He of course didn't take it as that.

"You there!" His right arm now pointing to a civilian, "Where is a place where I can become a knight of Eyris?"

"Well there is the Watch and the Guard." Said civilan answered, "The Watch is run by Sir Leon and the Guard is run by Lady Vaida." Sain froze. The name Vaida made him a little scared. Back in Elibe he tried to hit on her and it didn't end well. His lesson learned for the the day was that Vaida was a demon dressed as a woman, because no other woman had done what she had done to him. Sain shook off the thoughts and headed the direction said person was pointing to.

At the job fair he saw various booths. Two note worthy ones were the ones that said 'Host Club and Hostess Club'. Sain had no clue what they were though and rode right by both booths. He then saw the Watch's booth. He approached still riding on Homeros.

"Hello there knights of Eyris." He said, "I heard you were in need of more recruits. Well look no further as I, Sain, honorable knight of Caelin is here to help defend the city from foul beasts!" There was a big grin on Sain's face and his fist was in the air again after he said that.

After all I am a noble knight of Caelin!

and I also ain't regrettin' anything.

x - [Leon] - x

User ImageWas it passion that he heard from Saifer, or was the young thief trying to make himself sound bold in front of the Watch's Captain? Leon wasn't sure. Maybe this job would take some getting used to for him, that's what Leon thought, but once he was used to it, he'd be good at it. "We used to have another guy who walked in the shadows, ya know. With a lil' practice an' time you'll end up just like him, I imagine."

In response to Saifer's last comment, Leon's hand went over the puch that held his gold. "Hey. First rule is dun' sneak around on your allies. Some of 'em don't give warnings when they're about to draw weapons on ya." he replied, but in the same joking manner as Saifer's comment had been. Of course he wouldn't really draw his axe! Leon was never one to start violence, and he hoped that Saifer and the others understood that.

And then, to his surprise, another knight (a member of cavalry, by the looks of it) made his way to the Watch's booth. The Knights of Eyris? That wasn't what his group was called! And where the heck was Caelin? Leon gave Sain a very puzzled stare. He was starting to wonder if all of Learania's citizens were from somewhere "far away". It was obvious that Sain was.

"Good afternoon... Sain was it?" Leon said out loud. "An' whoever told ya we need more recruits was right! I especially welcome more members of the cavalry." answered Captain Vatara politely. Taking the quill pen and the paper from the stack of forms on his desk, he handed them to the bold, green-armored knight. "Fill these out, if yer any good at readin' an' writin'. If not, I'd be happy to help." said Leon.

x - [Watch Captain] - x

We gotta carry on, ya know?
It's what they woulda wanted!

D'Rias
Location: Eyris

A wave of heat washed over the shaman and blacksmith once again as the smithing apprentice worked the bellows. Sweat was trickling down D'Rias's back as he watched the hammer hovering over the tool to break the manacles. One slip and he could easily suffer a shattered arm or worse, the iron clasped to his arms might become so deformed that it would never come off. The blacksmith looked at him once more,

"your sure about this?" The mage nodded, a wave of heat coursing over him again.

"Do it".

The hammer rose up and paused for a moment before crashing down like a lightning bolt. The force of the impact traveled throughout his body and D'Rias gritted his teeth as it came down again, and again, and again. Suddenly the right manacle broke, shards of metal peppered the ground around them and he raised his wrist to look at it. It had been so long since he had not felt his strength being drawn from him little by little and now suddenly half of it had vanished like a breeze. He grinned and repositioned the one hand still chained, nodding to the blacksmith.

The air had never tasted so sweet. The mage walked down the busy street through the smells of the city and stalls listening to the clatter of life around him. The voices blended together into a mesh so tight he could not decipher anything he heard. The chaos made gathering information through eavesdropping nearly impossible, he could attempt to find some written information or, and this was the easier option, he could ask questions directly. His red eyes wandered, trying to decide who best to approach, a soldier nearby was talking to a knight on horseback and handing him a quill and paper. Recruting for the army perhaps? He started toward the two and folded his hands behind his back.

-Ephraim-

Typical behavior for Innes to ignore Ephraim all together. It was like this back in Magvel but the lancer had gotten used to it. After so many years from when they were a child? Eirika was about the only person he paid attention to, unless he was looking for a challenge then Ephraim would be dragged away in a heart beat for whatever spar was on the Sniper's mind.

Ephraim pondered a moment to Innes's question. Who else was here that he could remember? "Amelia is around, that's about all I know. Nobody else that I've encountered were from our world" He thought for a moment longer until hit the lancer. Innes probably hadn't had any clue as to where he was...or how he even got here for that matter, so whatever Ephraim said probably sounded like he was some sort of crazed lunatic. He turned back to the sniper and rubbed his head. "Sorry, that sounded strange didn't it?" Where to begin. Basics he supposed, yes, that sounded like a good place to start. "To put it simply, Innes. Ephraim started We're no longer in our world. Its a new....how should I put it....dimension? I guess you could say? There are people from all different worlds that were suddenly just brought here out of the blue."That's one way to put it, but how was he going to explain the laguz? Just as he said that, a couple seemed to have passed them on the way. Well that made things a little easier.

"They are called 'laguz'. They, unlike us, have the ability to shift forms into animals. Bird, Wolf, Tiger, Cat...even dragons. Kind of like Myrrh if you remember her. But laguz don't require any sort of divine stone or item for them to be able to attack or change. " Ephraim had to admit, he himself was still learning so what he was sharing with Innes was about as much knowledge he's gathered during his long term stay here. He raised a hand to his chin, and thought if he was missing anything else. At this point, he can only answer whatever question Innes had for him.

-+-Myrie Aurelia-+-

Myrie groaned in deep, utter frustration as she walked along the city streets. Carpentry, Bar-tending, Message-running. None of these jobs were meant for someone with a sword arm! Mercenary jobs were filling up quickly and she had arrived late to the party. She had very little chance of finding a good paying job and was running on very little money.

"Dammit... I can't believe jobs are filling up this quickly!" She said, hanging her head in despair. If she didn't get a job quickly, she would starve. This wasn't the first time she was ever in this situation but it definitely was not a pleasant experience. It's not like she wouldn't take a boring job if it was the only one available but she wasn't going to give up that easily. "Man... at least in Ilia, the job market was consistent..." She muttered, rubbing the back of her head. She looked around the sides of the streets. The city was bustling with advertisers and job hunters. She had to admit, This city was a fairly good base of operations for a mercenary. Her job-finding skills just sucked.

As she walked through the streets, she didn't notice a tall blue-haired figure in front of her and ended up crashing into him. She was fairly strong and knew how to keep on her feet but was fairly demoralized. That's why she ended up falling backwards onto her a**. She looked up, nursing her wounded area. A man with a faint look of royalty and greenish blue hair was standing over her. He appeared to be a lancer from the look of things. She couldn't help but feel embarrassed about her blunder.

"I-I'm sorry! I didn't see you there sir!" She said, standing up and dusting herself off. She felt like one of those people who shouts out their thoughts in the middle of a crowd. She was flushed in embarrassment and turned her head to look away from the man she bumped into. Many thoughts were running through her mind. "Oh man! I'm sure everybody saw that! Nobody's gonna hire me!" She thought. She clenched her fist in anger at herself. One reason was because she was angry at herself for being so careless and the other for knowing she was overreacting. She really wasn't off to a good start.

Just leave me alone

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HIs face paled as she started shifting through the racks. Derrin had never been a clothes man, he'd never fit in with the other male nobles who primped and fussed like roosters. He already could tell this wasn't going to end well for him. Soon his arms were full of shirts and other sorts of clothes that Blossom had picked out for him, she was clearly enjoying this and it seemed her original goal of simply replacing a cloak had been lost.

He was out of his element here, and simply trudged along after her, to his credit however he at least did try to make conversation when she showed him the bit of scarf around her arm.

"Why do you wear that?" He asked, as far as he could see it had no practical purpose and so she must have been wearing it for another reason, was it fashionable? Sentimental?

Khalid had left him alone for some time now, before the apprentice and Khalid appeared again. The apprentice, pale in the face, merely nodded courteously, before getting back to work. "How did it go?"

"It worked as planned. Can I go now? It's getting windy..."

Although he would've appreciated the extra help, Lance waved it off. "Sure, sure...I got what I needed from you. You can get back to the office."

Khalid, sighing a sigh of relief, huddled up before disappearing into the crowd, leaving Lance alone.

Now what, then...

His main speeches were done now, but obviously no one was going to come forward at this point. So all that remained was to pack up and go home, or...

Personal interaction.

Going up to random people that seemed like good subjects and present a short sale's pitch could work, but the people he'd need to find would either have to be desperate, easily influenced or clueless for it to go without a hitch. Anyone not that would probably put too much thought into it, especially since he wouldn't be able to spend much time with each person...

Better than nothing, probably. He didn't even have to look for long. Just looking up the road, he could see his first, victim, so to speak.

Female. Twenties. Not dressed in a uniform, but dressed in some armor. Having a sword with her. Had just bumped into someone, seemed confused.

Perfect.

With an almost evil gleam in his eye, Lance closed the gap between him and the woman in a mere moment, moving smoothly careful not to hit anyone on the way, before he grabbed her firmly by the shoulder.

"You are EXACTLY what I've been looking for! And I can see in your eyes! 'I don't know where to start, I wish someone would help me!' Well, I can be that helper! Here, take this pamphlet, it has an adress and just about any information you'd need about the mercenary guild, Cloak! Into adventure, or helping people, or just in need in money? No worries! We can find something that suits you perfectly! Please do visit! Do you have any questions? I'd be glad to help, Lance Dartel, at your service!"

After making sure the red haired woman took a pamphlet, he gave her a quick salute before he waited for some sort of response.

Blossom was still smiling as she guided Derrin towards changing areas, humming to herself. The tailor's shop was relatively quiet at the moment, probably due to the fair happening right nearby, and it made for quite the relaxing visit. It was almost unreal to her that the siege had happened so recently, and she put a hand against her side briefly. The scars below her clothes almost seemed to itch, reminding her of their presence. Reminders of her past, always present and carrying to the future.

"Huh?" Blossom opened her eyes, noticing that she had lagged about three feet behind Derrin, and hurried ahead, stopping in front of the dressing room door. Her gaze followed Derrin's down to her arm, and her fingers skirted over the scrap of scarf, studying it in silence.

"Maybe someday you'll be tall enough for it, sprout!"

Blossom smiled softly. "It's part of the scarf I used to wear. It was my dad's, but it was getting really worn, so I put it away where it'll be safe." she tightened it a little around her upper arm, flexing the muscle to ensure comfort before looking back to Derrin. The soft smile remained, eyes warm. "Come on. Go try on everything, see what works, and then you can show me, all right?" She hurried behind him, white skirt swirling around her in her rapid motions, and nudged him towards the door before sitting down near a rack of cloaks. She knelt neatly there, skirt fanning around her, and watched for Derrin to disappear behind the door, eyes brightening.

User ImageWar leaves behind tremendous damage, often physical.

Damage requires fixing, sometimes in the form of healing.

Blythe is a healer-for-hire by profession; you do the math.

Suffice to say, the repercussions of the Siege of Eyris, and the still-lingering larger war in Learania in general, had garnered Blythe tremendous amounts of work. With so much of the country scarred, Blythe had actually been able to live and work in a manner very similar to how he’d been living his last days in Magvel, travelling from village to village selling his services. This also allowed him the opportunity to see much more of the country of Learania and familiarize himself with his new environment; a mini-adventure of sorts in and of itself, even if a bit grim in tone. The only notable difference between doing such work here and in Magvel was this time he was healing injuries caused by other people in deliberate warfare, rather than by monsters which could much more easily be called undeniably ‘evil.’ There seemed to be more people than usual who looked down upon Blythe charging for his services than usual as a result, but the Troubadour had to make a living somehow. Blythe continued to live by the mantra that had guided him thus far: nothing in life is free. His prices were more than very fair and exceedingly affordable as it was, and yet there were still instances in which he accepted pay in the form of something other than gold when his customers hadn’t even the meager, raw monetary means to afford his services.

But his services throughout the expanse of the majority of Learania seemed to be less and less needed the longer he kept travelling; the country seemed to be well on its way to recovery and reconstruction. It was time for the Troubadour to do something else. As he’d made a substantial cumulative profit travelling as a hirable staff through the country, he figured he could determine his next course of action in the capital city of Eyris and perhaps invest some new equipment or a similar equivalent while there. Perhaps he might travel throughout the country north of Learania, Adliana, for a while.

The day he rode Cesario into Eyris for the first time since their insane dash during the siege happened to be the day of the job fair, however. Blythe didn’t foresee himself getting involved with anything permanently, and especially didn’t foresee himself settling down here for the time being, but the bustle of people was a welcome sight all the same. Opportunities abounded more than usual due to the event, and Blythe expected he could either gain valuable insight into the happenings of his new world, a new destination or plan of action, or new acquaintances of some sort as he made his way through the street the fair was planted in. At present he was headed to a respectable inn to stay at, but he’d have to travel through the job fair to reach it, apparently.

User ImageAbel gave a strong smile to the laguz as his handshake was accepted. Two members of his group was been confirmed. Well, they were technically only tentatively confirmed, but that was good enough for Abel. It lifted his spirits higher than they were already. "Alright!" he said, as he brought his hand back. "And don't worry, I definitely know my way around here. Now then, before we go see our client, there's oooone more person I need to find. I know he's here somewhere, and I've gotta pretty good idea where to look! Follow me!" Abel suddenly took off down the street. A moment later, he stiffly walked back to his two companions and headed the other direction. "Oh wait, that's right, it's this way..."

A while later, after walking through the fair, and many fascinating distractions, Abel caught sight of the man he was looking for; a blonde man on horseback who carried healing staves. Abel knew that a key piece for a good mercenary group was having a capable healer. He had seen this man during the siege, albeit very briefly. From the story he later heard through gossip of soldiers, the man had apparently fended off an entire battalion of dark mages at Fefga Manor and then charged through the entire Mordachean army, killing hundreds, all the time while carrying about five other dead-weights on his horse's back. Granted, the story was probably a little bit exaggerated, but Abel witnessed the man riding through the gates to safety wile carrying some other people himself, so he knew there was some truth to it. Bottom line, the forces at the gate had taken a major beating, including Clara and Akihi, but once that man got into Eyris, it was through his healing that they and many others were healed back to health. Abel doesn't just forget something like that.

"Hey you!" he called out to the man, as he stood boldly in the path of the horse. "Long time no see! You probably don't remember me, but I definitely remember you. I never got to thank you for healing my friends at the gate during the siege, so to start off, thanks!" He glanced to his side to see that Kiote and Grave had kept up with him and then looked back to the mounted man. "I'm Abel. These two are companions, but I'll leave introductions to them, if they want to give one. You look like a busy man, so I'll just cut to the chase." He folded his arms. "Would you happen to be lookin' for a job?"

Lloyd Reed, The White Wolf

Lloyd opened his eyes and blinked. He was in the Black Fang's library moments ago and when he went to leave he blacked out. The Black Fang assassin stood up and stretched, feeling his bones crack out of stiffness.
How long was I unconscious? He wondered.
Stepping out of the alleyway he was in, Lloyd tried to figure out where he was. As one of the Four Fangs, the group of assassins a part of the Black Fang, Lloyd had seen much of Elibe while on contracts. He knew right away that he was neither in Bern nor Sacae. There were no plains and the temperature was warmer than Bern typically had. Lloyd saw a fruit vendor and walked up to the man.
"Excuse me? Can you tell me where in Elibe this is?"
The man looked at Lloyd up and down, "Sir, I don't know what you have been drinking but I have no idea what you are talking about. This is Eyris. The biggest city in Learania."
Lloyd thanked the man still visibly confused and bought an orange to eat.
"Eyris? Learania? What is going on here." Lloyd shook his head. Seeing tents and crowds further up the road Lloyd decided to check out what was going on.

I understand. He looked up at the sky. He was comforted that it had not changed. That sky told him that everything was all right. Whether or not it was is a completely different matter. Many things will take time for me to understand completely. Until then we can only do what we can to survive. I shall stand fast with my bow. Unwavering in the face of uncertainty. Like a good King should. He looked at Ephraim straight in the eye. Not in a glare but in an almost scared way. For he was scared, scared that he would die in this world or never get home. As soon as it came it was gone. He looked away from the lancer.

These laguz, are they capable fighters? He noticed the sheer muscle mass on the one he saw walk by earlier. To him it meant little for he had seen bigger men die at the hands of his bow. However if they were similar to dragonkin then this was another story altogether. He remembered the zombified versions that still haunted his nightmares. How they would not fall from a serious wound. You almost had to mutilate the corpses to get them to stay down. If these laguz were like that then he had much to fear.

He just took a good look around when he noticed stalls and clothing stores and what appeared to be a medic. Well Ephraim as much as I would love to talk with you about our days spent together I think it is more important to learn of what transpired here. What were you and Joshua doing? To get you to do any work it must be a formidable task indeed. He waited for the response to his answer in anticipation. He wanted to get proactive as soon as possible.

Her swing landed perfectly, but despite the pain it had to have caused, the man surprisingly managed to grab Vaida's staff and get a firm hold of it. "The hell?!" Vaida flared her eyes and tried to pull her staff back, to no avail. Wallace had already changed his stance and getting the staff back by simply pulling it was no longer an option. The teapot was actually using both his brain and his brawn together.

Wallace's staff came in fast and jabbed Vaida in the gut. "Hurrk!" She turned her body to the side and let it pass her by and then clamped an arm down on it the way Wallace had done to hers. They now both had a good hold on each others' staffs (....oh god) and were left to stare at each other. "Well, congrats. You got a hit in. You're not as far gone as I thought you'd be. However..." Without warning, Vaida suddenly kneed Wallace in the groin and then pounded him with a nasty headbutt. With his loosened grip, Vaida yanked both staffs and held the tips to his throat. "If these were real weapons, you'd be dead."

Reluctantly, Vaida grinned and then tossed the staffs to the side. She then turned around so as not to face him. "Well, I guess you better get used to being called Captain again, Captain. You remember the bet, right? You got a hit. You're now an officer. And I own your a**!" She turned around dramatically and glared at the new recruits. "And what the hell do you think you're all doing?! You are in the presence of two superior officers of the Learanian army! GET TO ATTENTION!" She waited until they were all stiff. "Now then, Captain Wallace! I believe you were here during the time of the siege, but these other whelps weren't. They are unlearned! They have not seen open war, nor have they witnessed our enemy. I want them to know what they will be up against! Right now, our ally, Estarcia, is leading an army to retake the city of Arajudia. I want you to lead this rabble to their encampment on an observation mission." She turned to Wallace with flared open eyes. "Only... as an observation mission." She looked back to the group of recruits. "You will not engage in combat. You will be there to learn." She turned back to Wallace. "This mission is a rare, and important opportunity! Do you accept this task?!"

-Ephraim-

The moment Innes looked at Ephraim was the moment he could tell Innes was just as scared as he was when he first came to Learania. It wasn't that much of a surprise..anything new was scary, especially coming to a completely different world. If he knew Frelia's King, he would be just fine. So as long as he doesn't go around preaching he's the best in the world then yea..he'll live.

"These laguz," Ephraim perked up "Are they capable fighters?"

He looked around to those around him, eyeing every laguz that passed by him. Seeing the winged laguz reminded him of Vika...or rather..when Vika was posessed by Razevi..that was a memory Ephraim remembered all too well for his own good. It was back during the fall festival..back when Amara was taken and several other guild members turned rogue just to find her. The sheer image of nearly being killed. Had it not been for Blossom, he probably would have. "They are" The lancer responded, letting a hand rest on his hip while the other fell to his side. "More capable then us humans...or rather as they call 'beorc'. Also...seemingly more capable than those creatures when the Demon King was around"

Silence surrounded them once more and when the sniper asked him what he was doing. Ephraim blinked a couple times, looked away slightly embarrassed and rubbed his head. "Well.....Um......G-getting jobs..." Ephraim started. "As a Host of a host club..." It was just as he whispered that did someone suddenly bump into him. Ephraim turned around just in time to see a young girl go tumbling down on her behind. She apologized frantically even though neither were at fault.

He couldn't help but chuckle. "Its all right." clearing his throat, trying to hide that small laugh. "Lost?" She seemed like a new face around here as well. Seems they were getting a lot of that nowadays. Before it just seemed like so little, now it was gathering more like moths to a flame.

Great General Wallace

~Far better it is to have a stout heart always and suffer one's share of evils, than to be ever fearing what may happen.~
~By the honorable name of Caelin, we will never fail! You’ll taste the power of our knights, like cold steel in your mouth!~

Wallace

After taking a few moments to recover from the knee in the groin, Wallace straightened up and grinned, "Yes General Viper Lady! I accept this mission!" With that he stopped grinning and pivoted slowly towards the recruits. "All right you sorry excuses for soldiers! Get your scrawny asses outside the barracks and form a column! Cavalry in front and melee infantry behind him! Company March!"

When the recruits had left the training area Wallace turned back to Vaida. "It's good to be serving with you again General. Now to get my armor back on." With that he walked back over to where his armor and weapons were neatly arranged. He strapped the armor back on and slid his axe into the holster at his belt and then picked up his spear. Once he was once again fully armed and armored he saluted Vaida by slamming his fist against his breastplate and nodding his head to her. "So I'm not permitted to engage the enemy in combat, General?"

~Valor is the contempt of death and pain.~
