Terrible a fisherman as he obviously was, Sheridan was determined to catch something, be damned if he was going to just sit here and -starve- to death. He was so never getting on a boat owned by a werewolf ever again, never going to happen! Couldn't they have just flown? Really, that's what wings were for, it would have been so much faster.

He paused for a moment, calculating in his head, boat speed, wind speed, wave speed. A rough estimate (very rough), but maybe, just maybe, he'd actually succeed this time.

The net launched over the side of the boat, disappearing beneath the water and (hopefully) into the school of passing fish. Alright, that was long enough, time to haul in the net!

Hey, he caught something! Not much of something, he wasn't sure what it was, but it looked like a fish, and it was edible right?

Her gaze flashed back over to Junko when the ghoul spoke. "No." She said with a glare down at the net. "I...am totally missing something here. I have to be!" She moved over and compared her net to Junko's. They were the same. Of course.

"What about you? Have you had any luck?" The she-wolf glanced towards Riley. How the hell was she doing it?

Junko pointed back at the blobfish staring at the two ghouls. "I caught that, but that's all so far...it's...edible, I guess?" Maybe. She wasn't quite sure if it was even a fish. Every now and then it gasped for air. How was it still alive?

"I don't know how Riley caught two turtles.." Junko sighed, looking down at her net again. And that was when she felt it...a tug. A very large tug. Junko gasped and immediately grabbed the rope to pull the net back in, bracing herself on the side of the ship for extra leverage at the ghoul pulled the net up and up and onto the deck.

The turtle roared angrily. Oh Jack! She caught a turtle! But...but Junko couldn't just...dropkick one like Riley had! It thrashed in the net and tried to free itself. That was when Junko had a genius idea.

She shoved it over so it rolled onto its back, wriggling and trying to roll back over to itself upright again. It roared angrily.

Riley frowned as she returned to her net - only to realize it was gone. Well, that signalled the end of her fishing extravaganza.. she figured TWO GIANT TURTLES were enough, anyway. She returned to the ghouls, nodding approvingly at Junko's success. To LW, she shrugged. It's half luck, and half patience. Here. She reached over from behind the ghoul, placing her hands on top of LW's and guiding her to cast the net. There she remained, keeping her hands still as the dead.

All right. Don't move.. she whispered to LW quietly, her head leaning down to rest her chin against the ghoul's shoulder. Don't twitch the net in any way. And don't pull it back until you feel something.. that's the patient part.

Okay, he'd caught a fish (or few), that was good, great. At the very least it had been better than his last cast. So maybe he was getting better, pausing to calculate had seemed to help, maybe if he was just a little more accurate he could catch something big.

Okay then, 3, 2, 1, cast! A tug on the net, there was something in it! He was sure he'd caught something. With a little more energy than he had had a moment before, Sheridan hauled the net back onto the boat.

....

You have got to be kidding me. A boot, a -boot-? How the hell did a boot get all the way out here in the middle of god knows where? An irritated grunt, Sheridan pulled the boot from the net and tossed it onto the deck. He was starting to think he had a hole in his net...

Junko caught a fish? No wait, not just a fish. It was a turtle. A freackin turtle! And that little blobfish. Thing. LW sighed, tail drooping. "I don't know what I'm not getting here." She mumbled, glancing between her net and Junko's, down at the water, then over at Riley and finally back to her net.

The sudden roar from the turtle Junko had caught startled her and she blinked owlishly. "You...you caught a turtle!" The she-wolf said with a big grin towards the ghoul. "Nice!"

Her gaze went back to her net and she was determined to try this again. Then there were hands on top of hers and a body standing behind her. A familiar voice whispered in her mind and LW froze for a heartbeat until she realized it was Riley. Oh thank Jack! She had been afraid for just one second that it might be Sarias attempting to shove her in the water.

LW nodded and held as still as possible, ignoring the fact that yes, she did like having a warm body close to her. No she was not going to say this out loud and deny it loudly in her mind. FOCUS! Wait...that wasn't the ship that was making her hands move. OH JACK! She...she had caught something! Pulling as hard as she could, the turtle was pulled on board and LW couldn't help the stupid grin that spread along her lips as she looked up at the demoness.

"Candlejack! Thankyousomuch!" Her tail even wagged again as her words were rushed out in her excitement.

Junko was feeling much better now, cheering and jumping around. "I caught one! I caught one! I really, really caught one!" She cried with excitement, her arms in the air as she twirled on her heel and laughed with pure delight. She was very proud of herself. Sure, she caught that ugly blob over there but she also caught a turtle! She had to tell someone. She had to show the world! But who first? Junko giggled and bounced on her toes as she took a picture of the angry turtle on her eyePhone, scrolling through her contacts until she found her first recipient. Seiji.

New picture message to: Seiji
LOOK WHAT I CAUGHT LOOK WHAT I CAUGHT! <333 All by myself!

She attached the picture to the message and hit send, tucking her phone in her obi and clapping her hands as she giggled with joy. She never thought she'd catch something so big!

Riley could feel the vibration of the catch through her own hands, and she helped LW reel the large turtle in. Honestly, it seemed like they would have enough food for the trip with how well they've been doing. There were four turtles on their backs on board! Could Riley have all the brains please? THANKS.

Good job! Riley praised, releasing LW's hands only to wrap one arm around the ghoul's little waist and giving her a squeeze. I told you you could do it. She slid away from LW, and looked around. Who else needed her help? Ah, yes, Sheridan.

It looks like you're catching some on your own.. but I could help you snag a big one if you want. Her smooth voice emitted to the dragon.

This really was getting discouraging, it seemed everyone was catching fish except him. It certainly wasn't for a lack of trying, and he had at least caught -something-, but really, what he'd caught was barely big enough for a mouthful. They couldn't make the journey on scraps and old boots!

Huh?

Sheridan stopped, the net he had been about to throw over the railing again (by the point he was wondering why he even tried) falling to the deck instead as a familiar voice in his head.

"I...umm...okay."

Riley -had- caught those two giant turtles, if anyone could help she could.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 13, 2011 6:56 pm

Riley nodded and moved away from LW, but not before tugging very gently on a strand of her hair as a farewell. She gave one good look at Sheridan's net, and the fish he'd already caught, before standing behind him. Then, she chuckled.

You know, this is a lot easier with the ghouls. I can't quite see past your shoulder. She took care not to press against his tail when she leaned in and adjusted his hands. Okay, throw the net hard, just like this.. Her hands rested atop his just as they had with LW. Only, it was much more difficult to do so with someone larger. It was actually kind of amusing. Though her voice was bubbling with mirth, it was still quiet as a whisper - a side effect of thinking about being quiet. Now, don't move the net at all. They can feel even the slightest twitch.. and it will scare them away. Just hold it steady and still, and wait.. and we'll see what happens.

LW was beaming at the successful catch of the turtle. That was good enough for her! She had succeeded in catching at least one thing while fishing. Granted, it had been because she had help from Riley. But still! She'd managed to CATCH SOMETHING!

"Thank you, Riley!" She grinned up at the demoness only to be pulled into a tight squeeze. And no, her cheeks were not slightly red now. Why would you assume such a thing. Her tail flicked back and forth before curling around her legs. "Th-thank you for the help." She almost squeaked it. Almost.

The she-wolf watched as Riley moved to assist yet another of the failing fishers. A light tug at a strand of hair as the demoness walked away did successfully send her cheeks into a faint blush. There weren't too many people that did such a thing. Namely only two people. Neither of which were on this boat.

Before any more blushing or lonely feelings could overcome her, the she-wolf moved over to Junko. "Nice! FINALLY caught something!" LW grinned at the ghoul. "Guess we aren't too bad at fishing." Even if LW had needed help. A shiver raced down her spine and she didn't think too much into figuring out if it was from the cool sea breeze or something else. Jack! How much longer are we stuck on this boat?!

Okay.

The faintest hints of a blush touching his scales (he was never going to forget what Nuk had said), Sheridan nodded a silent answer, doing his best to relax and let her hands guide his. Should he have crouched down? He was quite a bit taller than her...

Deciding that would have only made it more difficult, the dragon stood at his full height, casting the net from the boat and into the water. Here fishy fishy...

Leave the net in the water, wait for the fish, he could do that. He tried to hold the net still, at least as still as it could be with the waves and the movement of the boat. Ah, he felt something, was that a fish?

He had a fish, he did, didn't he? Well, it wasn't the big catch he had hoped for, but it was something right? Maybe if he put all those little fish together they'd eventually make up one big fish.

"Thanks."

Deacon could have dealt without the swimming. Really, he could have. It had taken an insane amount of self control for him to not make himself look like a certain slang term of his species. At least he'd had something to keep him from sinking like a rock, although that was the only thing he considered any sort of good.

Now, he stood with net in hands and eyes focused on the water over the edge of the boat. There was really no hiding the frizz of his tail fur at this point, be it out of distress or the fact that he hadn't been able to bathe in what felt like months. Wherever they were going had better have clean water. And soap. He was going to clean himself for no less than two hours, he'd decided. It would take at least that long to scrub off all of this ick.

After remaining still alongside the railing for a long while, Deacon at last thought he caught glimpse of something moving about in the water. He gave the net a toss and anxiously waited several seconds before hauling it back in, hoping that he'd snagged something good. Or, anything at all, for that matter.

Well, at least he caught something useful! With a small boost in his fishing self-confidence, Deacon cast the net out again in hopes of catching more food to add to their stock.

Sadly, it seemed Riley's perfect record would be broken. She pulled away when Sheridan pulled up his catch, and rubbed the back of her neck with one hand. A soft chuckle surrounded her words as they filtered through. Uhm. You're welcome. You probably didn't need my help, though. You look like you're close to catching more in quantity than I've got in quality. I would have shared my turtles with you guys anyway. It's only fair.

She stepped carefully over his tail, and leaned her back against the rail of the boat, resting between Sheridan and LW. Her head bent back, and her eyes closed. She briefly considered another swim - she'd been in there twice already, and she was pretty certain she'd be able to handle the turtles this time.

One eye opened as she peered over at Deacon when he started fishing. Despite all of her lessons, someone was still doing it wrong. Hey. She emitted to him. You need a hand too?

She was going to teach them all to fish, apparently. This was surprising, seeing as she'd never done this before in her life.
