"Um...but if he knows the answers and I know the answers...why am I asking him questions?" Sonja asked, her confusion evident on her face. "Shouldn't we be... I don't know...making sure his skin doesn't fall off or something?"
"Thank you for that vote of confidence, Sonja..." Aydan muttered. Talking with Velika had helped take his mind away from his leg, at least a little, but that skin comment was not necessary...

Velika rolled her eyes. "To make sure he doesn't get a fever and that his thoughts are his own. If he can remember the answers that's a good sign. But if he can't then we'll have to worry that he's getting infected. Plus it'll help distract him from the pain, it'll get him, and you, talking."

"Oh right..." she said quickly settling down beside her friend. "Okay, Aydan well...how are you today...nevermind! Bad question. Oh! How did you end up with pink hair ties?"
Aydan rolled his eyes, "They used to be white, but someone stole them from me when I was sleeping and dipped them in the two leggers' dye baths..."
"I was trying to get them to match your eyes..."
"My eyes are gold..." he reminded her. This was not helping his leg much.

Velika giggled as she sorted through the plants Sonja had brought. "I don't know, they look a little pink to me," she teased.

"Don't encourage her, she does enough on her own..." Aydan said shaking his head.
"Oh do I?" Sonja smirked. "Okay...what type of animal did you Try to bring home for me?"
"A goat..." he answered frowning. He didn't like where this was going.
"And what animal did you actually find?" the mare asked cheerfully.
"A skunk...I had to live in the river for a week..."

"Oh, not good," Sonja said quickly. "I'm going back to the mountain lion plan...something that can keep up with me on the ground. Don't you think a little mountain lion would be an adorable addition to our flock, Vel?"
Aydan cringed at the mention of the word lion. Why did Sonja have to be set on finding the most dangerous creatures she could and then befriending them?

At the word "flock," Velika smiled warmly. She had been searching for so long for another family... could she have found one here, with these two unusual friends?
"If it's the right lion, I think so," she agreed.

Sonja beamed at Velika before shooting a smirk at Aydan, "Told you it was a good idea. I always have good ideas..." As she chatted she kept eying Vel and hoping she'd get poor Aydan patched up...it was easier for her to rile him up when he was in one piece and all, that and she didn't like how pale he was looking.
"Like the swamp..." Aydan said quietly, though he quickly regretted it when Sonja's form slumped. "We just have to be a little more cautious," he added quickly.

"Yeah, I guess," Sonja muttered, her eyes still on the ground. "Hey, Vel, do you need any help with those things?"

"Actually, yeah, if you don't mind?" Velika lied easily. She didn't really, but Sonja looked like she needed something to focus on other than Aydan.

"You bet," she said quickly. "Let's put my nonexistent unicorn powers to the test," she looked over the materials quickly. "What do we do first?"
"Sealing the wound and stopping the bleeding would be good?" Aydan offered weakly, not that he was bleeding much anymore. "And..." he added shakily. "I wouldn't mind something for the pain...if you have it?"
