"I'm sorry for worrying, Rain. You're right, after all... I am a ghost. I guess I just worry since they have our abilities suppressed. I've been a ghost my whole life, I'm not used to not being limited... oh, I'm sorry for complaining. I would be honored if you'd help me, Rain, and I would be happy to help out the others cross the mountains," said Alwine. "Are the trees finally starting to leave us alone? I do hope so. When we get back to Halloween, I'm going to have a picnic underneath a weeping willow. Of course I won't be eating, but... it's the thought that counts?"

Mountains. Barth could climb. Actually, he was good at it. Hiding in hard-to-reach places was one of his better survival tactics. The problem was that he could climb at about the same speed he could swim, and mountains were a lot of climbing.
He did have more stamina than usual, which is how he had managed walking thus far, but he was still working on a limited supply, and he wasn't sure when he would hit that limit. The demon was just not made for eternal winter hikes through unfriendly forests. He'd manage to avoid getting attacked so far. Most things correctly perceived he was too slow to be any real threat.
The other pressing issue, of course, was that all this hiking and fighting was a lot of bother. Maybe he should fake an injury. Just a small one. And then...and then, what? Be left to die alone in a jolly and hostile environment, stranded far from Halloween and starved of Fear. He was good at conserving his energy because he actually liked to be alive.
He just didn't like being coerced into other people's wars.
Aloud he voiced a dreary, "Whatever."
His chances were higher with a group, and he had already gotten used to this one.

"Looks like it's the mountains then." Sheeki said. "I'll help anyone that needs it; I'm just floating the entire way..." To float above water or on the mountain; it seems a bit too convenient for Sheeki. He felt guilty, really.

"You just tell me when you feel well enough to keep up and I'll put you straight back down.". Straightening up she blinked in surprise when she saw Winnie neck planting in the snow. She was about to enquire if the ghoul was alright when she rung her bell causing Mandy to get what she was on about. Glancing down she noticed Bunny looked less beaten up and bloody which was good, though she still showed signs of the fight. When talk of the path came up Mandy agreed with Rain surprisingly, "The southern path does seem best, most of us can swim which is more than can be said about climbing and it looks like it will take the least energy." and with all these attacks they'd need to conserve as much as possible. Though they'd need to watch Rocky to make sure she didn't fall into the water. "Hey there! You lost?" A friendly tree has appeared behind you! It wishes to hug you in painfully happy ways! HP: 3Damage 4Mandy was completely unprepared for the attack and was nearly thrown to the ground. Quickly putting Alessa down she spun around gave the tree a hard kick. Colette sighed. How in the world did we end up leaning towards mountains? All they had to do, according to that map, was walk on a bridge; handle that land in between; and finish off the last half of the bridge. It sounded better than climbing a mountain..
By now, she was seriously considering just breaking off her heels if she had to climb through mountains. Though if they did head toward water and, by some freak accident, need to swim, she would be utterly screwed. At least the trees wouldn't get lonely with their new Reaper popsicle.
Each was horrible, and she didn't much care to think about it anymore. She was too tired and hungry, it felt like her stomach was gnawing on itself. Colette would just follow them whatever way.
Poking at untouched snow with her boot, she asked a random question, "Do you think this stuff is clean?"

Alwine stared down at the powdery white stuff that was cushioning the ground.
"I don't know," she said, tilting her neck slightly. "It's cold and white and rather wet. I don't know if it's clean, however. I'm so sorry, but I don't even know what it is. What did the Professor call it... 'noh'?"

She said it plainly, distracted by thought, "Snow." The headmistress had made quite an emphasis on that fact, so it was easy to remember.
Well, it wasn't yellow and it didn't look weird. Colette grabbed a little and cupped her hands together, letting it melt. There wasn't any weird color changes when it switched forms either..
"Hmmm..." Colette walked over to an area with undisturbed snow. No bouncing trees or students had trampled all over it yet, so she bent down to grab some up. She shrugged, "Worth a shot," and bit on the handful.
Oh Jack, it was ridiculously cold against her teeth. The snow wasn't a meal or anything, not even worth a few pieces of candy, but it was refreshing.

The undead dragon perked up at Rain's words. "Water? There's water here?!" He asked excitedly, coming closer to the group but still hanging back -- close enough to hear, but not close enough to rub shoulders with. Even though he was a dragon, he was still a dead one, and aside from Rain it didn't appear that the rest of the group were fans of decaying flesh.
"About swimming, though..." He began, trying to raise his voice to catch their attention, "Some of you said it's cold, right? To me it isn't since I'm kinda dead, but I think the water might be too cold for some of you. I could probably ferry one or two of you on my back..." He trailed off as a tree decided to attack, turning to glare at it.
"Either way, I think I'd like to spend some time in the water. There's no way I'll be taking the other routes. Maybe." He considered. Wasn't his friend Cyrilla somewhere around here? He knew she was in the forest with another cabin... Would his group mind if he went to track her down? He looked at them. They seemed to be getting along with each other fine.
But then the topic changed, and the undead leviathan couldn't help but to take a step back from the group as they discussed the mountain path. "Look, I don't know if any of you have bothered to notice that some of us aren't exactly built for walking," he growled, "There is no way I'm going that route. None. I can barely keep up with you guys! I've had to kick and slide my way through bushes while you guys easily walked around them. Thanks but no thanks, I'm splitting off from the group and going the water route."
He really, really wished he had his friends here in this group. Merope carefully turned and walked away from the group in a sulk.

Alwine felt guilty. Granted, she always felt guilty, but pouting dragons kind of were over the top.
"Good luck, Merope!" she shouted. "Thank you for lighting up our Battleship game, it was fun. I'm so sorry..."
She had to add the apology on the head. It was fun, but she really did feel bad. Rain DID offer to be her climbing partner, and it seemed that many people were staying. Would Merope be all right on his own, though? I mean, he WAS a dragon, but still...
Alwine was wringing her gloved hands in worry.

"I noticed," Rain grumbled. She had worried about Merope and the mountains, "But the thing is, some of them aren't built or meant for the water route either, though I'm sure the bridges are safe. Otherwise, wouldn't they have closed down the path altogether? There's no option that will make everyone happy." She was almost snappish, which she hated but it seemed like so much pressure was on her to make this decision and she was as lost and confused as everyone else. "Separation is not wise. What if you get attacked and need healed? I don't think any of us need to be splitting up. But you know, I'm sick of this. I'm not your mom. I'm not your sister. I'm damn well not a professor. I'm just a student, just like any of you! I don't know why this is happening, I don't know what to do! I'm trying to make everyone happy but the fact is, I can't. I can't. So you guys can decide on what you want to do. If you want to wander off alone and die, so be it." She put both sets of gear down on the ground and pulled out her tent. She stomped around in the snow and grumbled under her breath until she had it set up. "When you guys decide to start taking responsibility for each other instead of just yourselves and can come up with a plan, feel free to get me but until then, I'm on STRIKE!!!" She wasn't really sure what that meant but it seemed to fit the situation. She crawled into the tent and shut the door before sitting indian style in the center of it, arms folded stubbornly.

Mandy had been busy checking her wounds to make sure none of them where too deep while the group discussed the paths, whilst she'd prefer the bridge she would climb if need be.
Satisfied she was alright for now she scooped up her prize and was about to rejoin the group when Rain suddenly started shouting. Rather surprised by her vehemence, though she shouldn't be after the Zombie incident on the train, she found herself tentative about voicing her thoughts.
"Erm, I'd just like to add that do ANY of you even know which direction we're going? The Gnomes just lead us out here without so much as pointing out the different paths so for all we know they may have picked them for us. I mean it's less trouble for them if the groups don't decide to go split up all over the place, less students to track down if they get lost."

Merope whirled and hissed, spreading his fins in an attempt to look bigger than he felt. "Responsibility? Responsibility?! I don't know if you've noticed but most of them are demons who care only for their own kind! I tried to get along, and be helpful, but who wants to sit next to a someone that reeks not only of decay, but salt too? The only thing any of you needed me for was for lighting the game, that's it! None of you need me, none of you seem to want me around."
"So pbbbbt on all of you," he said, blowing them a raspberry with his long blue tongue. Wait, did his tongue also glow like the rest of him?! Weird. "I'm going the southern route. If anyone wants to come with me, then fine."
He turned and pushed his way through the trees, forcing a path as he stormed away from the group, nursing a bruised pride.

Rain opened up her tent flap and yelled out after Merope, "BY THE WAY, I HOPE IT'S ALL ICE AND YOU SLIDE FACE FIRST IN A TREE," before crawling back into her tent.
