Flashback Begins

Deep within the Forest of Death a common tragedy took place. Yet another Shinobi was lost at the hands of foreign ninja. The event was foreseen by many. The Chunin Exams brought many ninja from all over to prove themselves. It was only natural that deaths also occur during this mutual struggle.

Two other ninja stood by this corpse of a Shinobi. An older Shinobi, and a younger Kunoichi. Both were now former team mates of the corpse. The Shinobi stood in quiet contemplation of his own actions and decisions. More than likely believing the death of his comrade was his own fault as it was his leadership that led them here. The Kunoichi sat sobbing with her hands placed firmly on the corpses chest. After failing at keeping her team mate alive she probably wished she could have done more for her former friend.

"Just give it up Aka-chan. He's gone." The older Shinobi told his remaining team mate. "But Aoi-sempai. We can't just leave him here!" The younger Kunoichi protested. "We have no choice! There are still other ninja about. If we stay here we'll be putting ourselves at risk. He would want us to live. We must honor his wishes and see this through to the end. Now c'mon, Baio-sensei needs to know about what happened." Aka did nothing more than nod in agreement as she rose to her feet.

Flashback Ends

Years later the same corpse was no longer laying dead on the ground. Years later the same corpse stood on its feet. Dark shades covered its dead eyes. Its straight yet unstyled green hair blended in with the dark green of the forest. It still wore the same clothes from those many years ago. Old, tattered, and worn, the clothing still bore stains and cuts from its old wounds. The corpse's skin showed death in its coloration but was somehow not rotting.

This time something was quite different about the Shinobi's corpse. Just under the old shirt full of holes, an insect hive was barely visible. But what insects lived in this mobile hive was currently unknown. However, the most unusual feature were the two long, dark red antennae. Protruding from the top of the forehead, they curved backwards towards the back of the head. From a distance they could easily be mistaken for discolored strands of styled hair.

Black shades turning to gaze into the abyssal darkness of the Forest of Death, the corpse stood there quietly. A soft buzzing could be heard coming from it as the insects that resided in its body were busy at work.

Sunagakure Academy

Face hidden by the hood of her black robes, Asherah poked her head out of the hole that she had dug in the desert sand. This hole, or self dug cavern, serves as her home for now. Something thin flickered from the concealment of her hood before retreating back. Suddenly, seeming to think of something, Asherah fully emerged from her den. Walking through the sands she acted as if she was following something, or someone, somewhere. Leaving behind unusual foot prints as she walked, the same thin objected flickered out of and back in her hood every so often. Like clockwork Asherah seemed to slightly change direction every time this happened.

Eventually Asherah came upon a structure of some kind. She wasn't sure exactly what it was but as she drew close her amber eyes spotted persons around it, and moving in and out of it. Asherah wasn't really sure what was going on but there were a lot of smaller persons separated into different places doing different things. Some were running in wide circles while a bigger person watched and said things every now and then. There was another group throwing pointy, dark, and shiny objects at really short trees. They were also being watched and spoke at by a bigger person. Lastly there were others hitting and feet hitting some really small trees. They were also being watched by a bigger person who spoke to them about something every so often.

Asherah stared at the large number of persons from behind a fence as they went about their business. Not quite understanding what the persons were doing, or why, her confusion kept her amber gaze fixed on them for quite some time. Somehow it seemed that one of the bigger persons picked up on her gazed and turned her way. Asherah instinctively dropped low to the ground and froze. Keeping completely still, however, wasn't working. The bigger person was walking straight towards her now. Now, her "fight or flight" response kicked in. Asherah's choice, like many creatures, was to flee. Running as fast as her claw-toed feet could carry her, Asherah could not move quickly enough. The bigger person had easily caught up with her. The person grabbed her by the back of her robe, causing Asherah to freeze where she stood.

"Who are you? State your name." The words the big person said didn't register with Asherah. Therefore she was silent. "I asked for your name!" She didn't understand the big person but she could sense the irritation from him. After a moment or two, a second big person appeared. "What's up?" "Caught this person spying from behind the fence." Now, yet another big person appeared on the scene. This one, however, Asherah seemed to recognize. "Is that so?" The pony-tailed blonde spoke, shining them a innocent looking, yet eerie smile. "Akio! What are you? Do you know this person?" "Yes. She's my daughter, and I suggest you let her go." Finding herself free Asherah took off in the opposite direction. Turning to look at Akio the two larger persons found themselves alone. "I'm just gonna pretend none of this happened." "Yea, yea that's a good idea." With that the two bigger persons returned to their duties.

Akio, with one hand on his desk, pushed his glasses to their proper position with a heavy sigh. "I told her not to wonder. She must stay hidden. At this rate, I'll have to." Removing his thick spectacles the man let out yet another heavy sigh. "I hope it doesn't have to come to that." At this point a man burst into the room. "Akio!" "O! Hello sir. You sound angry, what's wrong?" "Don't give me that crap Akio! Who was that? Why did you let them escape?" Akio sighed once again. "It's as I told them. She is my daughter." The man let out a annoyed snort. "That's a load. You and I both know you never married, or even dated for that matter. And that doesn't explain how she was dressed." "True, I never married or dated. I have no interest in such trivial affairs. But I still helped bring her into this world. As for how she's dressed. It's, difficult to explain." "I'm all ears." The man told Akio, his eyes sharpening, staring daggers at Akio. "I'll have to explain it to you later. Pressing matters have recently come up you see, and I must tend to them as soon as I possibly can." "Fine, but you will explain all this to me. One way or another." With those parting words the man stormed out, slamming the door shut. A grieved sigh escaped from Akio's mouth. "So it must be done." Akio left his room in search of the hooded girl.

Moving the rock that covered the entrance to her home, Asherah quickly escaped into the cavern she had dug in the sand. As she began to curl up for some sleep a familiar voice suddenly sounded. Her initial reaction was to freeze, and even slowed her breathing. "Asherah, it's me." Akio whispered down into the hole. Her amber eyes flared with joyous excitement, it was very rare for Akio to visit. However the moment Asherah emerged she found his hand aggressively grabbing her face, covering her eyes. Asherah desperately struggled to free herself, claws tearing into Akio's arms. Her clawed feet kicked at the sand, trying to push away, but Akio's grip only tightened. "I'm sorry Asherah, but it must be done." It was then Asherah called out her first word, the only word she had ever tried to utter. "Daddy!" A bright, white light came from Akio's hand. Asherah's body went limp as she fell to the ground unconscious. Tears streaming from her eyes. Akio had vanished, the wind blowing sand over sand erasing his foot steps.

Eventually Asherah raised her head. She felt her wet eyes. She had been sobbing in her sleep, but she couldn't remember why. Something thin flickering out then back into her hood. She looked in the direction of the structure she had visited earlier. But she didn't move this time. The scent was unfamiliar now, and thus she did not investigate this time. Most of her memory had been erased.

Hidden Sand Academy

Notwen woke up with a gasp. The center of his forehead throbbed painfully and he was filled with an inconceivable sense of loss.
Could that dream have been true? he thought to himself. As the dark-skinned boy sat up on his padded floor mat, a soft jingling came from his chest. A key and ring hung from a thin thread tied around Notwen's neck. The metal felt cool against his bare skin.

With a yawn, Notwen extended his arms while arching his back in the usual morning stretches. Once his muscles were no longer cramped and flexed freely, the dark-skinned boy walked quietly from his room to the bathroom, so as to not wake his grandfather. He flicked the light switch, which illuminated the space in a soft, yellow glow and went inside. The bathroom was roomy. There was an adequate gap between the walls and lavatory fixtures. The bath tub was tucked nicely against the far wall, the toilet was a few feet away, and the wash basin was across from it and three feet to the right. Directly across the room from the wash basin was a full body mirror, in front of which now stood Notwen.

The dark-skinned boy stood at five feet and nine inches. He had dyed his hair blonde because he didn't want to look like Novvus, his twin brother, who had been sent to Water Country to fulfill some training. Notwen's gaze went lower, where a soft white scarf hid a sizable lump in the center of his forehead from view and also helped keep his hair up. He pushed up the scarf to reveal that the lump and a good part of his forehead was covered in tattoos. A closer look revealed that a thin slit ran horizontally over the center of the lump. Notwen frowned. He had had it since the day he was born, and it had grown continuously over the years. It had caused him to be made fun of by the kids at the academy until he had forced them to respect him through hard work.

Lowering his gaze further, Notwen looked at his face; his own hazel eyes, slightly rounded nose, and thin lips. His upper body muscles were finely toned, his arms were strong and slender from archery training, and his leg muscles were well developed due to his proficiency in Taekwon-do. Notwen finished looking over himself, turned around and proceeded to brush his teeth. Once done rinsing and gargling, he walked over to the bathtub and removed his clothes. Notwen turned on the water so it was a bit hotter than warm, then stepped into the soothing spray. Ten minutes later he turned off the water, stepped out of the tub onto the furry shower mat, and began drying himself with his blue towel. Once he was dry, Notwen girded himself with the towel and walked back to his room.

Warm sunlight was now coming through the square window by the dark-skinned boy's bed. Notwen walked over to to his chest of drawers and pulled open the one containing his boxers. He removed a pair, closed the drawer, and pulled it on under his towel. When the underwear was up most of the way, Notwen dropped the towel and finished adjusting the garment. Next, he walked over to the night table and pulled a drawer in it open. He extracted a mesh undershirt and two mesh arm bands. Notwen placed them all over the night table and toed the drawer shut. Walking over to the open closet, he took a vest with the village insignia and a pair of pants from a hanger, as well as a custom taekwondo belt and a matching scarf from from the shelf above.

Dumping the rest of the clothes on the bed, Notwen stared at what he had to work with. An idea formed in his head and he began to dress. When he was done putting on the clothes, Notwen had the mesh shirt underneath the vest, one mesh armband on his right forearm and the other over his left upper arm, the pants were held up by the red-and-black taekwondo belt, and the matching scarf was tied around his forehead, covering the lump at its center from view. Notwen sat on the bed, reached under and pulled out his hunting boots. They were shin-high, flexible, durable, heat-resistant, and fireproof. He had gotten them as a birthday present last year from his grandmother before she passed away a few months ago.

Notwen laced them on in revered silence, relishing her memory and the happiness it brought. He walked around to the closet once more and retrieved his hunting bow and quiver, which he also received with his boots. With all that he needed for the day in his possession, Notwen left his room and walked to the kitchen where he beheld his granfather reading the day's newspaper while drinking a glass of what he recognized was a glass of onion-banana juice. Notwen grimaced.
"Grandpa Pathik, don't you ever get tired of drinking that stuff?" he asked, going into the fridge to see what he could glean. He found a few bananas that had escaped the old man's grasp and quickly stowed them in his pockets.
"It helps in cleansing the chakras. You should know this by now." responded the bearded bald man, who happily picked up his glass and sipped the drink. Notwen had to agree with him though, if it had not been for the drink's influence, he would never had mastered the seven chakras to the degree he had. The dark-skinned boy half-hugged his grandfather.
"Grandpa, i'm off. Tell grandpa Dharo i said i'll be back later to learn a new technique!" said Notwen as he headed out of the front door.
"Will do, my son! Take care!" said the bald bearded man from behind his newspaper.

Now outside, Notwen looked up. The sun was out over the hidden sand village, which brought the temperature a bit higher. The dry wind carried grains of sand from the surrounding desert and deposited them in the street with a faint hiss. He waited for a few minutes, then grumbled to himself,
"Where's Chiyoko? She's always running late..."

Hidden Sand Academy

Chiyoko's body was resting peacefully in her bed when the alarm clock woke her up. She sighed heavily and looked over to the spirit sitting on her bed. They had been playing together in the spirit world while Chiyoko slept, but now she had other things to do. "I'm sorry little brother, I have to get ready for class now." She said apologetically to the spirit of her deceased younger brother. "But...Neesan...I'm lonely" Her brother whined. She sighed and sat up in her bed pulling the blanket up to cover her chest. "I'm sorry but you know you can't leave the house." She sighed and looked at her younger sibling for a moment before she pointed to the door. "Now get out I need to get dressed." She said as she pulled the blankets tight to her body and got out of bed.

As her brother's spirit left her room Chiyoko wondered if she would ever be able to find a jutsu to bring back her beloved little brother. She sighed heavily and then went to the closet to grab her bathrobes. Chiyoko walked out to the bath house and slipped out of her robe before sliding into the hot spring with a sigh of relief. She sat there soaking for a few minutes before washing her hair. When she was clean Chiyoko stepped out of the hot spring and put her bathrobe back on. She walked into the house and was greeted by one of her servants from the side branch. "Lady Chiyoko, You're going to be late for class if you don't hurry." He said with a sense of urgency. "There are fresh clothes for you in your changing room. Please hurry Chiyoko-sama." He said bowing his head as he slipped into the kitchen to make breakfast.

Chiyoko sighed and headed to her changing room. She always told her servants that they were as much a part of the clan as she was and that they were just as important. Her father always instructed them otherwise however, and his word was stronger than hers. When she opened the door to her changing room she found traditional Hyuuga robes on a velvet stool and a screen with the image of a cherry tree in full blossom woven into the silk. The room smelt of cherry blossoms and Chiyoko inhaled deeply. She loved the scent of cherry blossoms. A smile crossed her face as she lingered for a moment in room, before picking up the robes and slipping behind the screen.

Chiyoko looked in the mirror at her body as she undressed and let out a sigh. Her parents pampered her because she was their pride and joy. She was "A child of one thousand generations" as her father had always put it. She was gifted with the ability to see the dead, and an extremely powerful Byakugan capable of linking to the spirit world. The downside of these gifts were that they only manifested in Albino member's of the hyuuga clan. Her nearly translucent skin, red eyes and long white hair made her the target of many insults and dirty looks at the academy.

After slipping into her robes Chiyoko picked up the one thing she treasured most. The mask given to her by her little brother. It was odd, and the other students made fun of her for wearing it, but she treasured it none the less. It was a pale white mask made of bone, and there were two devil like horns protruding from it. There was also a strange symbol on the inside of the mask that bonded it to the users face by use of a small amount of chakra. Chiyoko placed the mask on her face and smiled as it bonded to her facial structure.

The albino girl heard the door to her changing room open and turned around to see who was intruding on her privacy. When she saw only her trusted handmaiden her attitude lightened. "Chiyoko-sama, your breakfast is ready. We have jasmine tea today. I know it's one of your favorites." She said sheepishly. Chiyoko smiled at the young girl. "Thank you. I'll be there shortly." She said as she hung up her bathrobe. Her handmaiden nodded and slipped away to perform her house cleaning duties.

Chiyoko headed downstairs to the smell of miso soup and white rice wafting up from the kitchen. She quickened her pace as the scent of jasmine began to fill the air. When the albino girl arrived at the dinning room a smile crossed her face. There was a full spread of food on the table. It was a true traditional breakfast consisting of a bowl of hot, freshly boiled rice, miso soup, toasted seaweed sheets, pickled vegetables, a grilled salmon, vegetables, and omelet rolls. Chiyoko had each dish brought to her one after another, saving the miso soup and Jasmine tea for last. After she had finished her exquisite meal she quickly brushed her teeth and then ran out the door. Her servants all waved good bye to her as they always did and then they went back to their duties. By the time Chiyoko had arrived at Notwen's house class was about to start. "Come on we're going to be late!" She shouted as she ran past her dark skinned friend.

Novvus almost didn't notice Chiyoko dash past him in her mad dash to get to school, and would have stayed where he was had he not heard the albino girl's voice.
"Hey, wait!" shouted Notwen as he began to run after her. She was surprisingly fast, but he caught up to her in a few seconds. "Well good morning to you, too." said the dark-skinned boy in a jokingly sarcastic manner. "What did you have for breakfast today, an army of chickens?" He knew that Chiyoko could put away vast amounts of food from watching her at lunch time. Notwen himself ate quite a lot for someone his size. He remembered a time a few years ago when his grandparents took him to an all you can eat joint. When they left, Notwen was restricted to a few plates per outing since the tab was out of this world.

A turn they needed to make was coming up fast. The dark-skinned blonde jumped onto the wall of the opposite corner and kept running on the wall as he waited for Chiyoko to make the turn and catch up. When the albino girl did, he asked,
"So how's your little brother doing? I ran into him while i was on the astral plane last night. He seemed to be pretty happy." As he dashed on the wall, the Academy hove into view around the bend.

Chiyoko smirked as a sense of competitiveness over came her. With Notwen quickly closing the distance between them she activated her byakugan. The fiery red eyes shifted and changed to a milky white color and veins over filled with blood underneath her mask. She used her vision to plan out a short cut to get directly to the academy. The albino girl heard Notwen's comment about the chickens and glared at him with her byakugan's ability to see in 360 degrees.

"You should know better than to criticize a woman's eating habits." She stated with a mild tone of annoyance. The dark skinned boy always brought up her eating habits as a joke. "You know as well as I do that we need to eat a lot to keep up our chakra." She said almost managing to stay angry at her friend. Chiyoko jumped over the wall Notwen was running on. When the dark skinned boy mentioned her brother she sighed heavily. "He's still stuck in the house. I'm trying to spend time with him, but the only time I'm not busy is when I'm sleeping." The albino girl said regretfully.

Chiyoko was silent for the rest of the run to the academy. The albino girl was lost in thought. Chiyoko was thinking of how her younger brother could only roam free in the realm where she was most limited. She again reminded herself of her vow to find a way to bring him back, as the two friends stepped into the academy.

As soon as they entered the classroom the taunts began to fly at Chiyoko. They called her names like devil child, freak, witch, and ghost. She just shrugged off the insults and taunts as if she didn't hear them. They didn't bother her anymore, the albino girl kind of expected it now. She was reprimanded by the teacher for being late before taking her seat. Today was the day that they were going to instruct the younger class of students about chakra control.

Since Chiyoko was a Hyuuga she would be able to demonstrate it more thoroughly than the other students and she was chosen to give the demonstration. She picked Novvus to be her partner for the demonstration. As they prepared to show the class what happened when chakra control was interrupted Chiyoko read one of the young academy students lips. They were spreading a rumor that she had killed her younger brother in cold blood.

Chiyoko spun around angrily and marched over to the student. The teacher had also heard what the young student had said and grabbed the boy by the ear. "You will apologize this instant!" The teacher commanded. "No son of mine is going to insult a fellow ninja like that, let alone spread rumors about deaths in other families!" He scolded.

Notwen found it amusing that Chiyoko responded without turning her head to face him like she usually would. It brought a smile to his face.
Heh, she must be using her byakugan right now, he deduced mentally. The albino girl began to chastise him about criticizing women's eating habits when he knew that everyone needed to eat to restore chakra. He laughed out loud to stop himself from saying, "That's what an Akimich would say." He would never hear the end of it if that was the case. Upon the dark-skinned blonde's inquiry about her little brother, Chiyoko sighed and regretfully stated that he was stuck in the house, and that the only time she had to spend with him was when she was asleep.

She was silent the rest of the way to the Academy and Notwen respected it by not bringing up further conversation. He knew that Chiyoko must miss him terribly, and wished that he could help her. Then an idea struck him.
What if i teach Chiyoko the art of Astral Projection with grandpa Pathik's help! he thought as they walked into the complex of squat buildings. Once the albino girl entered the room, jeering taunts erupted all over the place. Chiyoko ignored them, but Notwen could tell that slowly they were starting to get to her. "Everyone shut up, or you'll have me to deal with!" shouted the dark-haired blonde over the noise. The room grew quiet as the other kids noticed his presence. "Who gave you all the right to look down on others when you know none of you are close to being perfect." Notwen turned to the sensei. "Ashitaka-sensei, i apologize for our lateness and my rudeness." he said bowing, then went to his seat.

A couple of minutes went by and Chiyoko returned to the front of the room and called him over. At first he had a puzzled look on his face, then it was replaced with realization when he remembered that he and Chiyoko were supposed to instruct the junior class on chakra control. Notwen got the chart paper from the supply closet and hurried over to the front of the room. He was in the middle of drawing a diagram of the Eight Celestial Gates when his keen ears picked up whisperings about Chiyoko killing her little brother. He was going to intervene as well but saw that the albino kunoichi and the sensei had it covered.
"Hey Sensei, why don't we make Ash here our practice dummy? I'm sure Chiyoko will be...gentle in our demonstration." Notwen was hoping the sensei would catch the gist of the joke, which he did.
"Yes, that sounds appropriate." he said, to the dismay of the boy whose ear he gripped. "No son of mine is going to get away from a mess he makes without cleaning it up first!" He pulled the boy out of his chair by the ear and dragged him to the front of the room, much to the mirth of the class. "Okay, you may begin the presentation." said Ashitaka-sensei motioning for Chiyoko to start.

Chiyoko was surprised when Notwen suggested that the boy who had insulted her be their test subject. It wasn't like him to seek vengeance, however she quickly forgot about that as she planned for her revenge. The albino girl thought of all the different things she could do to the boy by disrupting his chakra. Among them were intense pain, confusion, and embarrassment. For a moment the albino girl considered permenantly disabling the boy but dismissed the notion shortly after it popped into her head. Deciding that she was going to embarrass the boy to death she placed her hand on his shoulder. As her grip tightened she altered the boy's chakra flow so that he would be stuck performing his next jutsu for an hour.

"Ok now I want you to make yourself into a clone of her." Chiyoko said as she pointed to the most homely girl in the class. The albino girl hit one last pressure point as the boy began to focus his chakra. That last point would make him a failed clone of the ugliest girl in class. Chiyoko thought that it would be a fitting punishment to scare the boy into thinking it was permanent.

The boy transformed in a puff of smoke and Chiyoko had to stifle a giggle as the boy performed his clone jutsu and failed horribly. The other kids began to laugh at him and taunt him. Even the homely girl made fun of him. "Oh my...even I can't help someone like you...maybe you should look into working at the local ramen shop." The albino girl said holding back her laughter. The boy began to cry and the teacher thought the joke had gone a bit too far. "Please turn my son back." He commanded. "I can't sensei. He'll be stuck like that for a long time." Chiyoko said feigning ignorance.

As Chiyoko crippled the poor boy's chakra flow, Notwen activated his fully-developed Sharingan through half-closed eyes. His hazel eyes turned crimson and three black tomoe formed on the iris of both eyes. He watched the boy's chakra stop flowing into his left arm. The dark-skinned blonde immediately recognized the technique she had used on him a few times when he had teased her about her eating habits.
Aw man! I feel sorry for him. Whatever he has to do next won't be pretty. he thought, taking pity on the youngster

The albino kunoichi commanded him to turn into one of the cute girls of the class, but before he had the chance to completely finish weaving the necessary seals Chiyoko hit a pressure point which disrupted his chakra flow further. There was a burst of gray smoke. When it cleared, there was a hideous version of the girl standing in the front of the class. This was met by laughter from everyone in the class. The transformed boy blushed and began to cry. Apparently he was not used to being the object of ridicule. Ashitaka-sensei saw that the joke had gone a bit too far and ordered that his son be turned back. Chiyoko faked not knowing how to do it, and said that the boy would remain like that for a long time.
"Well," said Notwen after the laughter had subsided a bit, "that's what happens when you have poor chakra control. Ash, you may return to your seat." The disfigured boy returned to his seat and put his head down over his desk. "Chiyo-san, let's continue the lesson without anymore mishaps." said the dark-skinned blonde, his eyes now back to their original hazel color.

As the boy stood embarrassed in front of the rest of the class Chiyoko smirked to herself. Knowing that other than having lowered his social standing she had actually helped the boy made the albino girl somewhat proud of herself. Being humiliated in front of all of his peers due to his lack of chakra control would lead the boy to study harder, and master the art of molding chakra. Perhaps in time he would even reach jounin all because of her actions.

Having taken the moral high ground Chiyoko felt good about herself and decided that it was indeed time to finish up the lesson. The albino girl set up the posters and charts at the front of the class and lectured the younger students on the chakra circulatory system. That lecture lead into another about shape manipulation and the five elements. The bell rang before Chiyoko could finish her lesson. The albino girl let out a heavy sigh as all of the students rushed out the door. When the crowd cleared she saw that the boy who had been humiliated had stayed in his seat.

"Umm...could you...please finish the lesson? I'm sorry about what I said earlier..." The boy's voice was full of shame as he stared down at the floor. A smile slowly formed on Chiyoko's lips as he boy showed genuine regret. "How about I show you something you can do to practice your chakra control instead of just reading off a piece of paper?" She suggested as she placed her hand on the boy's shoulder. Looking over his chakra circulatory system the albino girl found the damage she had done and repaired most of it with a small burst of chakra from her palm. "Notwen, Ashitaka-Sensei why don't you two come with me and give him a few tips as well. Three teachers are better than one right?" Chiyoko said as she took her hand off of the boy's shoulder. Ashitaka nodded in agreement and motioned for his son and Chiyoko to exit first.

For the next hour, Notwen helped Chiyoko with their presentation by flipping the charts whenever she needed to go to the following page, or jogging her memory when it failed her at times. Notwen was impressed by the albino kunoichi's extensive knowledge on the subject, and how well she worded each of her statements to make it easier for the younger kids to understand. He smiled and thought,
She could be an academy teacher if she wanted... For that whole hour the only sound that could be heard was furious scribbling in twenty or so notebooks. Near the end of the period, Ash's transformation wore off, revealing his true image once more. A few minutes later the school bell rang and apparently all of the students filed out of the classroom. Notwen turned to face Chiyoko and congratulate her on her effort when a familiar voice from behind caused him to turn around.

"Umm...could you...please finish the lesson? I'm sorry about what I said earlier..." The dark-skinned-blonde was surprised to see that Ash was still in the classroom. His voice was tinged with so much shame that Notwen started to feel sorry for him. Chiyoko seemed to warm up to him and offered to tutor him hands-on. She placed her hand on the shoulder she had damaged earlier and repaired as much of the damage she could, which was about 95%. Then she requested that they all(herself, Notwen, and Ashitaka-sensei) teach Ash a few pointers. Ashitaka agreed with a nod, and Notwen smiled.
"Sure, but let me warn you. The chakra i was trained to manipulate is very hard to grasp. I'm willing to teach you how to deal with the first one."

As they walked to the training grounds, Notwen began to get a persistent prickly feeling, as if he were being watched. The dark-skinned blonde tried to look back inconspicuously but only caught a swift movement down the hall that he could have mistaken for a student. Shrugging off the feeling he proceeded to the training grounds with the others.

Chiyoko felt a strange presence as the group headed out to the training grounds. She activated her byakugan and saw that they were being followed by another ninja. Upon closer examination she saw that they were a rogue ninja by the slash across their headband. The albino girl nonchalantly approached her sensei. "Sensei take your son to safety, we're being followed. Notwen and I will handle it." She said as she kept track of the person following them with her 360 degree vision.

Ashitaka quickly told Notwen of the situation and took his son to safety. Chyioko took her battle stance soon after. "Show yourself!" She shouted as she waited for the inevitable attack.

As they reached the clearing that led to the training grounds, Notwen noticed Chiyoko approach Ashitaka-sensei and say something to him. A few seconds later Ashitaka walked up to Notwen and relayed the albino kunoichi's message.
So there was someone following us... thought the dark-skinned blonde, berating himself for not being more attentive to his surroundings. As Chiyoko told their stalker to show themselves, Notwen got in front of the teacher and assumed a defensive stance. "At least he lost the element of surprise. We'll handle this guy, whoever he is-" A cackling laugh coming from the roof cut him off. Notwen whirled around just in time to see a chain-and-ball wrap around Ashitaka, who was suddenly yanked back with amazing force. "Sensei!" cried Notwen and unsheathed his bow. He knelt down to one knee and placed his right hand flat against the sandy ground. "Youton Creation: Melting Arrow!" With a burst of heat and chakra from his palm, the dark-skinned blonde created an arrow composed of sandstone.

Ashitaka was now being pulled up from the base of a nearby wall up to the roof, and was currently half-way up. Notwen notched the arrow and sighted. His keen eyes, trained in the art of hunting small desert animals, were able to lock on to the thin chain. He pulled back on the bowstring and released it with a resounding twang. The arrow soared true and truck the chain, but instead of piercing through the chain, it collapsed and coated the immediate chain links in superheated sandstone. The metal stretched and broke away, causing Ashitaka to fall to the ground with a bewildered look on his face. The dark-skinned blonde quickly sheathed his bow in the quiver and ran toward his sensei. After freeing the man from the chain, he said,
"Sensei, take your son and go!" The man nodded, ran back to meet his son, then ran away from the scene. Notwen watched them go until they were a safe distance away.
"Tch!" The sound caused the dark-skinned blonde to turn around and look up at the roof. There stood a completely bandaged man with jet-black long hair and an animal skin sash looking at the damage that had been done to his weapon. A sand village forehead protector hung frm his belt, and Notwen could see the ragged gash that defaced the country's insignia. "You little bugger! You'll pay for lettin' my quarry escape!" said the man in a voice that made a shiver run up Notwen's spine. The man spoke with a rasping dialect that made it sound like he had a severe case of throat cancer, as well as a British accent. Notwen shook the sensation off and eyed the mysterious man wearily.
"As if i'd let some random mummy come out of nowhere and try to make off with my teacher!" Placing his hands in his pockets, the dark-skinned blonde assumed his battle stance. "Chiyo-san, it looks like this guy has a few issues that need to be dealt with. Let's give him nothing, but take from him everything."
