It seemed to Zhen that everyone was frozen. Her scuttling steps sounded so much LOUDER than they were, and she almost sighed with relief when she finally reached the window. Peeping out, she saw...
...she frowned. An enclosed courtyard. There were windows to other classrooms of course, but who was to say they weren't also being infiltrated?
She DID sigh then, with frustration, and ducked back down under the sill, watching the door for a chance to attempt escape unseen.

Jianyu did not know much about this Suzu girl. He had never before met her, but the very fact that she seemed to be respectful and friendly towards Huang-Fu was a good enough reason to trust her at the current moment. She seemed young, perhaps in her mid teens, and Jianyu could tell by the myriad of emotions that crossed her face that she showed her feelings easily. She was similar to his sister in that effect.
His sister. Jianyu felt a pang of anxiety hit him again. His sisters were somewhere in this school, somewhere inside the enormous mess, amidst the crowds and the fear and the unknown strangers. Most likely the intruders were rogues, intent on destroying the one place where mutual respect for both alliances were honored. It had happened before, but never to the Academy. Lunaria held too high of a regard for their school, and most would not dare to attack it. After all, it was merely a place filled with children. What could be gained from attacking children? Jianyu did not know if he wanted to find out.
Veering left at the next corner, Jianyu was suddenly face to face with one of the masked men. The man grinned, shoving him hard, and Jianyu stumbled backwards, knocking into Suzu. Mentally, he cursed himself for being lax in his cautionary ways - he had gotten caught up in his thoughts. With a growl, Jianyu quickly regained his footing, his fingers moving fast. Within seconds he had the arrow strung and raised, pointing it directly at the man.
"Who are you?" Jianyu barked, backing him up against a wall. "And why are you here?"
The man's upper face was hidden by the black mask he wore, but the smirk below the mask was quite obvious.
"Like you'll ever find out." he snorted, and then, moving too fast for Jianyu to react, the man darted under Jianyu's arm, slipping around him. He kicked out at the last second, and his foot caught Jianyu's ankle. With an angry shout, Jianyu felt himself falling, and he crashed to the floor, momentarily disoriented. He managed to right himself a few seconds later, but the man had already disappeared. Jianyu swore loudly, looking back up at Suzu.
"There's been a change in plans." he said, the anger beginning to rise inside of him. "Take me back to your classroom."

Huang bit his lip as he kept to the wall as close as possible and muttering to himself. Why Jianyu wanted him to look through the school for the entrance was beyond him, and he had to remember that regardless of how long Huang had been here, He had yet to lay eyes on the map of the academy. Which meant he had no idea where they we're.
Kotone was following behind him slowly, she was as quiet as he was which made him glad, he preferred that the normally chatty girl was quiet in the situation, truthfully it meant that she was prepared for these kinda of situations. Huang respected that.
"Kotone, do you see something over there?" Huang whispered to her as he rounded the corner of the hallway to see a open door, he gestured to her before laying his finger on his lips as they snuck upon the entrance of what looked like a classroom.
"We have the front, back, and most of the side exits secure sir, we're waiting on the units that are securing classrooms before we make another move." A high pitched female voice squeaked out as another voice grunted, this way deep and male.
"Good, With the academy in our hands, we will be able to move the plan along smoothly." The voice laughed as they came closer to the door. Moving fast, Huang pulled Kotone to the corner, keeping her close as they watched a group of masked members exit out of the room, luckily for them, they went unnoticed.
As they disappeared down yet another hallway, Huang turned to Kotone.
"Do we follow? Or do we go back?" Huang wanted to return to the classroom, this situation was to large in his hands and he wanted the advice from his master, and the comfort of fellow students. But whatever Kotone ultimately decided he would do as well, there was no way he would leave the girl now.

Suzu let out a small meep as they ran around one corner and came face to face with the masked man, Jainyu stumbled and let go of Suzu and without oven thinking she used her hands to help prop him up. In seconds he was armed and a arrow was directed towards the man, she smiled and put her hands together. He was very talented indeed! when Huang was addressing him as a master it was not out of being friendly.
However her heart sunk and she gasped as the man hit Jainyu's ankles causing him to fall, the man then headed towards Suzu and before she even had time to think about what she was going to do he had pushed her out of the way and moved on. She jumped as her partner cursed and she spun around to see him. He wanted to go back to the classroom? indeed if that's what he wanted. She nodded her head and then put her hand in her bag, bringing out a little hand mirror, she held its handle and smiled. She would not give this to Ishtar when she was applying her make-up. Mirror's where precious to Suzu because she saw their worth. She had been fascinated by them since she was a child.
"Yes, they know we are here and how armed we are, we can not become predictable mixing with Eiji and the other students will leave them blind... this way."
She nodded and darted off back in the direction they came from, as she came just before any corner she angled the mirror to see around it, it was much less dangerous than sticking your head around to look.
It only took a second because she had used a mirror to do this so much. She one day wished to invent something that combined this with weaponry. A practical thing that people could carry just for this situation with out having to practise and mess around with the angling. It would save lives...
She stopped just before one corner, holding her hands out to stop him also. She looked in the mirror holding it in position in case he wanted to look too. It showed two of the men around the corner about half way down facing each other. She turned back to him, lip sinking her words and using her fingers to help communicate her message.
"Two men... the classroom is just around the next corner. First door to the left."
She nodded waiting further instruction.

Maybe he hadn't heard her? Maybe it wasn't even a real masked man. Yue scoffed, paused, and then sighed. "A lot of fun you turned out to be," she said, crossing her arms over her chest. Where had that cat gotten to? And the others? Yue Lao looked around and realized she was utterly alone in the corridor. Strange.
She had started to walk in the direction she thought the others had gone, with no regard for stealth or safety, swaggering down the middle of the hall. Her tipsy steps made her wander all over the place. She made it half way that way, and got bored. She started to pretend she was on a very narrow bridge, no wider than her feet, put her arms out straight for balance, and started to walk with one foot neatly in front of the other. It was that way, her eyes downcast, that she walked into Eiji when she turned the corner. She fell backwards, skidding on the floor a little, and just lay there, looking up at him. For a second, it looked like she'd been stunned. Her eyes had widened very briefly, an abnormality for Yue Lao, and then they'd gone right back to their half-slit selves.
"You made me fall to my doom," Yue Lao said, rocking herself to her feet and leaping up, pursing her lips. She broke into a wide grin. "Looks like my doom is pretty short-lived, though. Nice to see you, again. I hope you'll help me get up to something," Yue said. Probably inappropriately, she didn't feel scared at all. Not even nervous. Of course, she had been when addressing what she thought to be a masked man, but... Yue's emotions, many of them, were short-lived. Now, away from that which had seemed not quite right in the Academy, she was left with Eiji. Yue couldn't be more pleased, which made her grin in a self-satisfied way, much like a cat. Even Suzu could have been fun; Yue could have just offered her as bait to any masked men. Was she genuinely that cruel? When it came down to it, likely not. Yue Lao loved to be amused, which left her seeking out amusement from less savoury sources, at times.
She looked forward to this adventure with Eiji, even if it meant they had to go collect their classmates or something. Even though it was likely a total accident she'd encountered Eiji again. "I followed Sumu out here, but he gave me the slip," Yue said, leaving out the part where she had gotten completely distracted trying to taunt one of the masked men. She stuck the tip of her tongue out at Eiji. "In any case! Now that we've run into one another, I am completely at your service, Eiji," Yue bowed with a flourish, winking when she looked up. She stood up straight again and rested her weight on one leg, her hip swayed out, hand on her hip, the other one against her thigh. She waited for his directions, though she seldom allowed that from anyone. She thought that right now, listening to Eiji could be the best source of fun, so that was what she did.

Despite her nervousness as they moved stealthily, Kotone did not let the opportunity slip by to watch, learn, and try. And these three things she did with all her might. Huang-Fu, she observed, was evidently experienced in moving in stealth and she hoped that her clearly being less experienced in it was not holding him back too much.
“Yes,” she promptly while cautiously whispered in kind her reply to Huang-Fu’s query before he’d gestured to her and then remained silent as they listened in on the conversation being had in the room before them. Kotone noticed at the last minute that the masked Lunarians conversing were heading out the door, so she was able to avoid being taken by surprise by Huang-Fu’s sudden yank this time around. Her narrowed eyes followed the masked figures as they walked by.
“Let’s go back and help try to come up with a way to free the hostages in the cooking room, Huang-Fu,” Kotone whispered again her reply to him upon his next question.
They were waiting on word from those securing classrooms before initiating their next phase of plan, Kotone’s mind went over what she just heard. How can they delay said next phase from being executed? Student versus masked Lunarians in battle was not the optimal option, her mind went on with its rapid considerations in the moments after the eavesdropping incident. The info just gathered during the eavesdropping could be used in a scare tactic perhaps. Kotone’s eccentric mind continued to work it’s odd ways in analyzing and crafting ideas. There are lean-on-surface ladders she heard available in a room used for supplies for grounds maintenance next to the weapon hall which in turn was near the cooking room, since she’d recalled overhearing either a pair of skippers or pranksters consider ditching with them to climb onto the roofs. Also: Music. The music room was a quick trip from the cooking room as well. The 19-inch tall taiko drum would be among the loudest options, but too heavy in her case with one being 40 pounds and more so to carry with her up a ladder onto the roof, Kotone recalled textbook descriptions of the available instruments. She then assured herself a koto could be heard over a mile. In terms of delivery of a letter, the option in her head was: a paper wrapped around a stone and pelted in front of the feet of one of the masked mysteries. Word of the letter may spread if the scare bluffs that the north, south, and side exits they have secured will be attacked after the music ends; the letter mentioning or not: in a certain amount of time, or in other words, a time duration for the music. Ideally the more instruments the better to cause confusion, she felt for such a thing her imagination was concocting.
If they can lure more masked guards away from or out of the cooking room, perhaps it may be reclaimed by outnumbering with brute force. The windows, some accessible from the roof via a ladder approach, of the cooking room are also options to consider for sneaking in and/or out. She also recalled the bowls and pots of food from the food fight clean up in the room.
Kotone considered what her mind was making up could all be nonsense. But still she felt that if their was an opportunity to try to contribute in any plan-making, she wanted to share whatever she could think of with good intentions and take the errors she learns about any of her foolish imaginings. Whatever our next moves end up being, I wish today's disturbance is thwarted and with a result that is far from the worst possible outcome for a successful prevention.

Rounding the corner in search for Yue it seemed Eiji didn’t have to look for much longer. Before he knew it they both collided. ”Holy-” Tripping over the now fallen girl he landed hard on one foot, ending with a light hop to regain his footing Sumu was forcefully tossed from his shoulder and landing on the ground opposite them with a four pawed thud.
What.. who on earth? He knew his escuse for not making wide turns around corners but who wouldn’t think to look before walking around a corner? ”Your doom? If anything you should be happy it was me who collided with you. If you ran into the wrong guy you might have been in a bit of a bind.” Eiji replied to Yue as he straightened himself up, lightly kicking out the leg he landed on to loosen the muscles from the sudden force that he just applied to it. Well at least he found Yue, that part of his job was over. Now he had to go back to the classroom to try and get everyone else, or at least to see if they are ok. Like before, he had no clue what to expect and started to wonder what the other two teams were up to. I wonder if they found anything.. he thought as he looked down the hall towards the direction of the classroom.
Sumu meowed at the sound of his name as he climbed back up to Eiji’s left shoulder. ”Yeah he tends make himself difficult to catch... We have to head back to the classroom. I gotta make sure everyone is ok and possibly get them out. Come. And don’t stray.” Eiji told Yue as he waved her on, running off towards the class. He had to especially make sure to not bring attention to them. It was one direct route from where he was with Yue to the classroom. He just had to hope and pray that no masked men filled the halls in the meantime. It’s be problematic if he had to change their route to the room.
Rounding one last bend the classroom was in sight but unfortunately it will completely blocked of by masked men. Some were crowding the doorway and some scattered about the hall in front of it. Their numbers were larger then before, it would only make gaining access to the room all that more... annoying. Damn.... Eiji thought again, coming to a quick stop. Life unfortunately could not be nice and easy for him. Not even once.

The classroom Jianyu had followed Suzu to was blocked not only by the two guards at the door, but several standing a few feet away, and a many more just down the hallway. They had obviously doubled their protection, and the number of guards was too much for even Jianyu to handle. He needed to find some other way into the classroom, but the pressing need to find his sisters, to make sure that they were safe, was weighing down on his chest.
"Damn it." Jianyu muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. He needed to find a way into the classroom without the guards noticing. Either that, or find a way to fight them all - although two against a dozen were not particularly good odds. Jianyu gritted his teeth, then slowly, reluctantly, he backed away down the hall the way he had come, motioning for Suzu to follow him. When they were out of earshot of the guards, Jianyu turned towards the girl.
"We need to get into that classroom." he said, glancing around the empty hallway, looking for anything (or anyone, for that matter) that could be of some use to them. "Any ideas?"

Okay Suzu you had a smart head on you, it was time to get thinking. She followed him down the hall and closed her eyes taking a deep breathe in.
"Okay, well there is always a distraction, if you hoop around the other side and both attack them from either side hopefully the numbers will half to follow each of us, we use the hall ways like a maze to pick them off one by one before rejoining at a certain point. However that does leave a lot down to luck and also I am unarmed besides a small cooking knife so it will be difficult."
She explained before putting her hand on her chin, she had her inventing look on her face, like she had a very strained head ache, scenario's and blue prints where running through her head.
"Fire. Smoke them out like rats, I have a mirror we have wood. I have some perfume which is flammable. Anything that would get something going. If we set fire down the hallway the smoke should travel to the guards making them cough and go to inspect it. If you think you can pick them off through the smoke cloud whilst I go in with the knife we should be able to take them down, especially with the fumes getting in there eyes and lungs. I work in a smithery, smoke poisoning is not something all that rare to me. I would be able to stand it and if we open the window at the bottom it sound float away from you. However when its started we would not be able to stop it..."
She needed to think harder. Anything would do right now. How she wished she had her hammer. She could be more useful than this. She was frustrated with herself. How was she meant to impress him when this was the best she could come up with.
"We could jump out the window and walk along the window edge and the jump inside the classroom and then use the added force of the hostages to fight out way out. There are knives in there we can use. I am sue they will be one or two guards in the room however if you can get the through the throats so they fall with out sound we can get in there and talk strategy before we break out."
She stated, she had tried her hardest to give him idea's. To be useful and she hoped that she had helped some way. She opened her eyes once more and looked up at him with a small and nervous smile. Something must have been bothering him, he looked to have something on his mind, he was angry.
"What do you think Jainyu....? We could leave the room up to the others and go investigate the building, find the source of this attack. We need answers... and back up would be nice. If I could get outside the building on the roof we could start a fire to warn the city of what's happening here... maybe if we kidnap a masked man we can take him into a room and stick sharp thing into him until he squeals like a pig."
The last comment was more of a joke, or a reference to how clueless to the situation she actually was. She thought for a moment and wondered back down the hall towards the classroom once more, looking around the corner. Then he spotted him, at the other side of the hall, peeking from the opposite corner, only for a second but he was there.
EIJI!
It looked like he was also trying to get in the classroom. She ran back over to Jianya putting her hands on his shoulders with a large smile.
"Jianyu. Its Eiji he is at the other side of the hall trying to get into the room also. If we run in for the attack, he will also join in maybe he even has more people with him."
She nodded.
"I trust you. What ever you decide. I will go along with it."

Huang nodded at Kotone before backing away, they needed out of the hallway first before they could head back. Taking her hand in his, he headed out of the hallway and back to where they originally started. The school was like a labriynth as Huang tried to lead the other girl out with him.
So far though he hadn't run into any trouble or Jianyu, which worried him. At this time he really wished he could see his master, in these kind of situations Huang was as good as any of the students. These we're adults and the best thing to do was avoid any of the men.
Growling in frustration, Huang ran through his hand through his hair and then looked back at Kotone.
"Kotone, do you remember where the classroom is?" Huang stared at the doors before sighing, they we're lost again, how was he suppose to help when he was wandering around the academy he didn't even know? And then dragging poor Kotone along with him!

If one could read her mind now, they would find that how Kotone was jungling her thoughts in her head was in a method to madness sort of way when she ends up clumping ideas together further along her thought process to make more sense.
Among the other thoughts aside from thinking of rescue ideas that occupied her mind at this time were her observations of Huang-Fu and where she and Huang-Fu were passing.
That she found the academy grounds continually throwing riddles at her, she had first assumed this was not the case for Huang-Fu, that he knew the academy grounds very well according to her habit of overestimating others which contrasted to her habit of frequently doubting herself and thus her uncertainty in herself in turn becoming a frequent negative influence on her performance. Also, she considered that he was probably not choosing paths she would suddenly recognize after periods of confusion being in unknown places as options for getting to the cooking room because he may know a more secure way or because of another pertinent reason. And regarding the few loops she could recognize that they made by taking a sequences of paths she was fairly sure went away from the cooking room and then turned back towards it in another location, she thought similiarly of this as she did the previous other noticed case. However, it was only now after they had missed another path option to the cooking room that it crossed her mind that Huang-Fu may possibly be a bit lost as well at times when conducting himself through the academy grounds. Upon this having crossed her mind, she felt very sorry for being late in considering this possibility. Her insecurity took the opportunity again to pursue its goal of convincing her that her insensitivity at such things as this not thinking of said possibility as one explanation sooner was another factor why she was unfit to become a fighter.
The onset of another wave of her insecurity was followed by moments of struggling so as not to be paralyzed by it added to the load on her mind.
The places they passed together were a mix of ones she was familiar and unfamiliar with. Currently they were in an area she had yet to venture in before, however with having identified a familiar classroom they had passed earlier before moving into this unknown area, she had made another one of her mental bread crumb trails from that classroom up to this point. A rather flurriedly done connect-the-dots activity with familiar landmarks as the dots could be another way to describe the bread crumb trails approach she had been mentally multitasking with.
She had been about to offer her help to Huang-Fu but stopped when she was about to speak upon hearing his growl of frustration.
Then when he turned and asked her his question, she reminded herself that negative thoughts about herself were of no help. Thus, she quickly pushed said nagging negative thoughts aside so as to increase her focus on thoughts that are more helpful.
She made the transition so that the expression of concern on her features was overpowered by resolve and gave a small but determined smile and nod of affirmative in reply to Huang-Fu, repeating to herself to have more confidence in herself, "Yes, it's this way."
She hadn't let go of Huang-Fu's hand all the while and at first when she felt she was the one pulling them forward this time, self-doubt prodded at her again. However, she resolutely pushed said persistent self-doubt aside again and set out to do her best to follow Huang-Fu's exemplary example.
And after managing to go unnoticed while traversing more hallways, relief hit her immediately upon sighting and nearing Jianyu and Suzu. "Sir Jianyu, Suzu, we've returned to report what we've seen and help in freeing the hostages," her voice an audible whisper to them upon reaching them.

Everything happened way too fast.
Miki could scarcely comprehend what was going on around her. First that loud noise echoing down the hallways, then the masked men. It was rather frightening. This wasn’t supposed to happen. This was school.
Miki took a few deep breaths to calm herself, grasping her chest over her heart. She hadn’t reacted fast enough to break free with some of the other students, but maybe it was better this way. She was one of the stronger hostages and could protect the others if things got physical.
Movement by the door caught Miki’s eye. They weren’t people with masks, but she didn’t look long enough to determine who it was. The students needed to get out of the room quickly or things could get worse. If the Lunarians that had escaped in the first place could try to break in, she could help out from the inside. She had to. Not doing anything wasn’t going to help and it wasn’t in her nature to just sit back when there was such mayhem.
But what could she even do? It was not safe to fight alone. She could try to be a distraction for the rescue team if they needed her to bide them some time but she had no weapons should she need to defend herself. Her fist against their swords would likely end up in a bloody mess. She felt distraught at the fact that she was almost helpless.
Interlocking her fingers, she leaned her head against her knuckles, whispering a silent prayer.
Please, don’t let me mess this up. Protect us and give us strength.

They were all surrounding the classroom now. Eiji was on one side, with Jianyu on the other, Kotone, Suzu, and Huang flanking him. Jianyu had listened carefully to the ideas that Suzu offered him, his brow furrowing as he took each one into consideration. There were positives and negatives to each, and they had been creative, but none of them seemed quite enough to get rid of the school's intruders. There were perhaps a few dozen of them, most likely no more than fifty, but that was a large number for a group of inexperienced and untrained students. Jianyu was a Fighter, yes, but even he knew that that was a number too large for any one person to fight alone. It was a difficult predicament to be in, and Jianyu let out a frustrated sigh, his mind traveling in circles as he thought of his sisters again. So far, it seemed as if none of the students held hostage had been hurt, which was reassuring, but there was still the issue of getting them out of the classroom. Jianyu turned to three students standing around him.
"Here is the plan." Jianyu said. "Huang and I will fight the guards here, at this classroom. Once we have lured them away from the door, you two - " here he nodded at Kotone and Suzu " - will get inside and get those that are held hostage out as quickly as you can. Make your way towards the front of the school and get out."
Giving a short nod to Huang, Jianyu strung his arrow quickly, threading three arrows into the thin wire. Without hesitating, he darted out from his hiding place, letting loose the volley of arrows. He made two out of the three shots, the guards falling instantly, but in a moment he was surrounded by three more masked men, blocking his shots. Letting out an angry shout, Jianyu raised his leg, kicking the nearest man in the stomach, propelling both the man and himself back. He swung around, hastily threading another arrow into his bow and shot again, catching one man in the arm.
Dear Lunaria, please let this work...

A large smile came onto Suzu's face as Kotone came around the corner, smiling as she jumped and gave her another huge hug once again.
"Kotone. I knew you would be okay, Haung."
She smiled over at him, she had only known these people for a few hours however because the situation they where in was so dangerous she felt like they had been friends forever. I guess that is what happens when you have to rely on people you hardly knew. She looked over and nodded her head as Jainyu spoke, she did not like the idea of him and Huang fighting them, they where so many however deep down she knew Jainyu would not have said it if he thought it was not possible. She put a smile on her face, she was scared but she did not want him to see it.
"We will get them out, come back alive you too. Good luck."
She wished, winking with one eye and giving them a peace sign with the arm which was not still around Kotone. She then rubbed her arm and looked at her as it moved down her arm, grabbing her hand. She saw Jainyu set off, her heart sinking a little... 'Please be okay you two... please.'
"Good luck to us too, huh? I will have your back and if we get through this... we will go and give the farmer fertilizer okay and... I will buy a round at the bar for everyone! anything you all like, even none alcoholic drinks."
She smiled and gave a nervous chuckle, I think all of this joking around and optimism was mainly for herself, she was scared, it was clear, however she knew she had to do this. For the sake of her new... friends.

Yue followed Eiji at her own pace, sauntering behind him. She hoped that all this tugging in one place or the other would lead to something, but at this point, she was beginning to have her doubts. At least it wasn't cooking class, any more, and she didn't have to see--
Yue Lao had been off in her own thoughts when she realized Eiji had led them near the classroom, and someone she didn't recognize was giving everyone orders. Everyone but her and Eiji. She kept near Eiji, if only because that was who she'd arrived with, and tapped his shoulder. "Got any tips or requests?..." Yue asked, pursing her lips again.
Before she knew it, the others were already in motion, following through with their instructions. Yue stuck to Eiji. She wasn't sure she'd be useful in battle, given the stranger's obvious skill level. She was glad he was on their side. Could Huang fight? Hopefully so. Yue rubbed the back of her neck and observed whatever she could.
