Everything was bound to be his eventually so why not? The people with the money and power now were merely holding it for him, keeping the system going until he could arrive in a place to take what he wanted. There was immense satisfaction in knowing you were destined for more and equal frustration in having to wait while you worked towards it.
Even if Jack hadn’t gone to this school, he might have still considered it. Children of expectations frequented this place. The same students people expected great things from. It would look good on his record when he moved on to college later, help him access anywhere he wanted. College was his first choice of path, but he was always open to others should opportunity present something more tantalizing. You jumped on openings and shoved people out of the way. That was how you got what you wanted.
He didn’t bother moving out of the way of puddles as he crossed campus, barely deviating a step in the straight line of his long legged stride until he reached the cafeteria. His lips held the usual smirk, projecting a dark edge of amusement at the world in general. It was an expression that usually either drove people towards him or pushed them away. It was a nice way of sorting out potential pawns from obstacles.
The cafeteria smelled decent at least. Someone had decided the students might want to commemorate their second day of class with donuts and in addition to the usual assortment of foods one found in a breakfast buffet there was a display of various donuts from powdered to sprinkled to filled and everything in between. Robin grabbed a tray and pushed it along. He ended up with an omelet and a maple donut along with a glass of juice.
Because most students had been on their own for food the day before, the cafeteria was already crowded and he was forced to one of the only empty tables near the back of his room, pulling out a schedule to examine it as he ate.

xxxxx ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▄ ▆ ▄ ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃It had taken some quick talking and a little bit of pleading but Kai had eventually talked Kaito into accompanying him to the cafeteria. The brunette was walking close enough to the blue haired boy that their clothing occasionally brushed as he waved his arms about dramatically explaining a situation to the young heir. Kaito's expression was as flat as always but occasionally he would nod to acknowledge the fact that he was in fact paying partial attention to the happy chatter of the smaller male. Despite how familiar they were together there was a level of indifference in the artist that the younger male was attempting to overcome by holding his attention and drawing him out. Kaito always had a tendency to be withdrawn from the world. It was part of this that Kai was working to be there for him. He wouldn't NEED the rest of the world, he'd have Kai.
Having avoided the puddles the pair was dry, an umbrella occasionally swinging dangerously in time with Kai's hand movements as the strap was looped around his wrist to hold it in place as they moved into the crowded cafeteria. Almost instantly an ice wall practically formed around the pair as Kaito's eyes went arctic in clear warning to anyone near them. Kai smiled, flashing dimples, but didn't comment as they moved towards the line.
While Kaito threatened everything that moved around them, Kai continued speaking, but both their eyes were actively sweeping the room around them. Both for the same reasons in many ways, a constant watch of any danger. They just had different ways of dealing with it.
It was apparent the second the slate blue eyes caught sight of the grey haired male looking at a piece of paper across the room. His whole posture went from just generally threatening to dangerous territory. Kai blinked, breaking off his conversation and taking in the almost predatory cold coming off the male at his side.
"Kaito?"the brunette asked softly, posture going stiff as he swept his honey brown orbs across the room to try and find what had set his companion off that badly. He caught sight of Robin but ignored him as unimportant at this moment, not seeing anything he could figure might have started the reaction. Looking over and up at the blue haired male who grabbed a tray and passed it to Kai without breaking his attention from whatever was holding it.
"Hey, Kaito...earth to Kaito?"Wrinkling his nose he leaned forward to try and break the stare, knowing better than to move to quickly or too closely. Finally the gaze broke and glacial frost hit the honey warmth as Kai smiled, unworried.
"Do you want a doughnut?"he asked briskly, holding the object up like an offering and wiggling his eyebrows. Kaito's body language softened slightly as he gave him a flat, almost disgruntled look but held his tray out for the frosted doughnut to be distributed on to Kai's brilliant smile at his accomplishment before dragging the blue haired boy down the line and talking even more animatedly to keep his attention away from whatever was drawing it.
Meals gathered, the pair found a seat away from Robin that had Kaito's back to a wall with Kai scooting his chair around to be close and start asking about the homework and such while nibbling delicately at various bits of food. Kaito answered in monosyllables as usual but this didn't seem to bother the brunette in the slightest. ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▄ ▆ ▄ ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

xxxxxx[ Dear Diary, ] Mel took the drawled response and amusement as a compliment, much as he did many things that could have been interpreted differently. Perhaps ruining a load of laundry wasn’t the most evil punishment that had ever been thought up, but that was the way his mind worked. Violence was usually only a result of schemes gone awry or too far. He didn’t often try to stop it when it happened, but plans rarely began with blood in mind. “I’ll bet yours would be a completely law abiding citizen,” he mused. “Never so much as bends a rule.” That would surely count as a way to drive the real Mika insane. Or maybe it wouldn’t. Mika was notoriously hard to predict at times.
He was a little disappointed when Ren didn’t do more than flinched at Mika’s lick but let it pass. Instead he listened to the conversation, piecing together little bits of what the new boy might believe in. Mel believed in all of it. Big foot, mermaids, aliens, ghosts… He’d been lying for so long maybe his mind was just automatically inclined to fill any remaining spare time lying to itself. He eyed the headphones as they walked. Ren was really attached to his music. He might have considered the possibilities this presented if his attention hadn’t been drawn swiftly back to Mika with a soft whisper.
The tone of the whisper more than the actual words compelled him to again press against Mika’s side briefly before he was off again. Unlike Mika, his movements were far from graceful and he resembled less dancer and more duck in the puddle’s presence.
Once in the cafeteria, Mel’s eyes landed greedily on the donuts displayed along the counter, heading for the bright colors the moment he stepped through the doors. He didn’t even notice the trays or plates, simply sidling in and snagging one that appeared to be covered in chocolate and sprinkles. There was no such thing as something too brightly colored. Colors made things interesting. Even Mika was interestingly colored when you thought about it.
Satisfied with a breakfast that was probably no better than a candy bar, he slowed enough to scan the crowded room while he waited, lingering at the edges of the seating area. The green eyed boy swallowed once and then his eyes lit up as he spotted something almost spectacularly unusual. A boy actually smaller than him. Well… alright, he didn’t know if he was smaller from this distance, but it was a close thing.
He was a dull emerald streak across the cafeteria at a moment’s notice, upsetting two trays and a glass of orange juice in the process. His arms went enthusiastically around the neck of the diminutive brunette, clinging to him from behind, obviously delighted. “Tiny!” he crowed, the hypocritical outcry no bothering him in the slightest. It wasn’t meant as an insult. He really was pleased.
Mel ignored the blue haired companion who was not nearly so entertainingly small.

Ren Matsuri the sound of your voice.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ren was disappointed. one, these things were made by 'deities", which to Ren means they wouldn't work. the second reason was more important. it effected all earthbound spirits. this was worse than there being mean ghosts as, if his parents did come to see him, it would repel them too. "no...i think i'll take my chances with the ghosts thank you." Ren said, disappointed. he didn't wish to try calling his parents, because Mika had already revealed the dangers of that, so he couldn't see them by that method, and this charm would block out the other, more chance based ways he would get to see them, and that would be really bad. he had no idea how long ghosts could stay, but he did believe that if he used a charm to prevent it, he wouldn't have another chance. he watched, amused, as the one boy kicked the puddles, and the other danced skillfully around them. Ren just walked. he stepped in and out of the puddles as if they weren't there. he acknowledged them, and knew they were there, but within his conscious thought, it was as if there were no puddles. he ran over the lyrics to this song in his head. "so, where are we going?" Ren asked, not actually caring. it was just a whim for him that he was following Mel at all. sure, he was hungry, but that wasn't something in itself that Ren would care about. now that things were settling down, he ran over what had happened in the room, laughing at himself on the inside... he recalled the pitches in his head. the percussive dissonance of hickory drumsticks was distinctive to his ears (there was a reference to the dissonances in his bike too, as Ren has perfect pitch). he hadn't noticed then, because Mel had managed to already make him uncomfortable, and the timing was perfect, but now that he was having time to look back, he recalled who exactly had access to those drumsticks, and who had the motive to set them up. and so he laughed (out loud this time) at the simple genius of the feat. he let this pass too. he had no motivation to retaliate, and it certainly WAS amusing. but the drumsticks involvement had helped him know where the two were coming from. Obviously Mika liked pranks. she hit mel with the shaving cream, and then the ghost stunt. he would have to watch him carefully from now on. he switched to a less mellowing song. maybe this would help put him in the mood for revenge.
he recorded Mel's response to Mika's doppelganger. it fit perfectly with Ren's own assumptions of the guy. he must obviously be a trouble making prankster. it was amusing though...he was very different from other petty pranksters personality wise. Ren pondered this for a while. Ren noticed Mel's meager breakfast, but shrugged. it wasn't his business. Ren himself ignored the food line for the moment, even though he was hungry. he just didn't feel like actually going to get the food. Ren's thoughts regarding the bedroom incident were cut off, momentarily, by Mel's outcry at the boy, which amused him, as Mel himself was rather short. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- if it were all i could hear, i'd still be okay.((sorry, my dumb self posted this in the dorms, even after we all left...except the small bit at the end that actually responds to the cafeteria. ))

xxxxxxxxxxʃ ɑ с ҡ . || CITY BOY - SURFER BOY || Jack headed into the cafeteria with his backpack slung over one shoulder, using the anxiety twisting uncertainly in his gut to help him project a general air of ‘get the hell out of my way’. With this the line fr food seemed to mysteriously dissolve in front of him. It was a petty thing to do, but Jack was in a hurry to get food and find Kaito. And probably Kaiko. As much as he disliked the idea, he couldn’t exactly sweep reality under the rug. He slammed a plat down on his tray with perhaps a bit more force than was strictly necessary, throwing on two powdered donuts and scrambled eggs. No point in being peeved on an empty stomach. A carton of milk nearly broke as his fingers closed around it, but at least he wasn’t actively scowling when he turned to sweep his eyes over the seated figures. Kaito’s blue hair stood out and yes, he was next to Kai. Great.
Another familiar face caught his eye and he steered his way through the maze of chairs and tables to pass Robin. Robin was glancing over a piece of paper, though his eyes occasionally flicked amused little glances in the direction of Kai and Kaito, half a smile curved at the corner of his mouth. Jack rapped his knuckles sharply against Robin’s skull as he passed behind him. Robin flinched and brought a hand up to retaliate, slowing when he saw who’d done it.
“You just look so damn pathetic,” Jack shrugged, already moving forward towards Kaito’s table. Robin smirked and took it for the invitation it was, standing up and following the redhead across the floor. Jack raised an eyebrow as Kai was abruptly tackled from behind by a short green haired student who yelled something in regards to Kai’s height. Jack’s lips abruptly split into a grin as he slapped his tray down. He took the open seat directly across from Kaito where he could keep an eye on the two of them. And possibly kick one or both under the table if the situation called for it.
Robin took the seat next to him, careful to sit with about half a peron’s space between them. Not enough to invite anyone else to take the seat between them, but just far enough to look innocently non-threatening. To Jack, if not Kaito. Though in comparison with how Kai was seated, it really did seem like a fair amount of space to the casual observer.
“How cute, shorty’s got a groupie,” Jack said, tearing off pieces of the donut before he ate them, much as he had the muffins he’d eaten on days previous. His eyes slid to Kaito and he did his best to remember that looking like a total nutcase by being pissed that the blue eyed boy had left for breakfast without him would only make Kai look better. He had to content himself with tossing a few viscious swears at Kai mentally and maybe one or two at Kaito himself.
“Thanks for calling me over,” Robin said. “Being new and eating alone sucks.” This was a little out of character for him and Jack might have been inclined to raise a what-the-hell eyebrow at at the gray haired male if he’d been less distracted. Robin, meanwhile, merely smiled at Kaito, deliberately trying to emphasize for Jack that Kaito had not intended to eat with him. Just a little polite trouble making. Even if Jack wasn’t really paying attention to him, some part of him would remember it.

xxxxx ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▄ ▆ ▄ ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃Kai was still talking, not worrying about the fact he wasn't receiving much in the way of responses. It was just how Kaito was, he very rarely said anything unless it was necessary. The two of them had shared several meals over the years just like this so it was easy to fall into the same habit as he spoke and only let silence settle over them when chewing on the breakfast he had grabbed.
Although had it not been for the fact that he'd gotten distracted Kai would have noticed the second that Jack walked into the cafeteria. As it was, the brunette missed the instant shift of attention-a full body intent that had been missing previously-because there was suddenly something holding onto him from behind and happily calling him tiny.
Blinking Kai turned his head as much as he was able to in order to see the person standing behind him. Who was probably only a few inches taller than he was standing up, had bright green hair, the most adorable pale eyes he'd ever seen and an infectious grin. The dimpled smile bloomed to life almost instantly while the slate blue eyes of his companion were locked on the red-head who was moving across the room, ice forming on his presence when he smacked the grey haired boy on the head in passing.
"Aren't you cute!"the brunette gushed, a light laugh spilling from his lips as he turned in the grip around his neck slightly to return the hug with one of his own. Briefly Kaito's eyes flickered his direction but not for long as his aura went from cold to arctic in a matter of seconds when Robin followed Jack over to their table and sat between Kaito and the red-head.
"Funny, I thought that was my line."he drawled in a flat monotone as Jack dropped into place and commented on the green haired male who currently held Kai's attention. The brunette turned his head back enough to stick his tongue out at the annoying homewrecker, smiling slightly as he turned back at Robin's comment but otherwise paying the grey haired male no attention.
"Now, what would YOUR name be, sweetheart?"Kai asked sweetly, ignoring the rest of the table practically as Kaito shifted just enough to be within easy striking distance from the invading male who was being treated to the full out glacial cold front Kaito usually used on people who weren't going to live for very long. He was PISSED and it was radiating in every inch of his body language.
"I'm just sure you were desolate without company."he flatly commented, showing HE at least didn't believe a word that was coming out of Robin's mouth as he smiled at him. Kaito flashed his teeth in response, not even close to being anything other than a blatant threat. His hand closing every so carefully around the knife the cafeteria had been kind enough to supply him with.
Having seen Kaito in full action Kai didn't let any of the lethality pouring off his fiancee worry him. If Robin got killed it only meant he wasn't good enough to work with, simple as that. If he could get through the next few minutes and do so in such a way as to separate the pair more...well he might bake him a cookie or something. So he continued to act like he wasn't even slightly aware of what was happening behind him. ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▄ ▆ ▄ ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

◄ When you talk about me, I sit back and think ► DAMN.xxxxxxxI got myself a xxxxxxxxxxxxxxFAN CLUB xxxxм ɪ к ɑ ѕ ɪ . м u ʀ ɑ с o . ► ► ►"Don't even speak such blasphemy."Mika huffed dramatically, whacking the green haired boy in passing for having even suggested that anything that might LOOK like him could even be close to law abiding. Given he figured the law was just there to be broken and to have fun while doing so. He wasn't about to let even an imagined demonic version of himself come close to behaving like the angel he appeared.
The silver orbs shifted towards the red-head when he changed his mind and decided to take his chances against the ghosts. Mika's teeth flashed in his smile at how disappointed he sounded. Given ghosts didn't even EXIST it was a little amusing that he'd be so bent out of shape over it.
"Wherever he's going. "Mika answered Ren's question with a light wave of his bangled arm towards the green haired boy who was currently waging war on all puddles. The soft light filtering through the clouds not enough to glint against the wide gold as he dropped his arm back to his side once more and sipped through the doors after Mel into what turned out to be the cafeteria.
Typically Mel headed straight for the food containing the most sugar and snagged one before getting distracted by something across the room and bolting for it. The albino remained behind and piled a tray full of far more food than he could have possibly eaten on his own, all of it healthy to a degree. That degree being as healthy as American's tended to make with their pasteurization and such.
At a much more docile pace he crossed the cafeteria silently once he was done and set the tray down on a table near where Mel was clinging to a petite brunette, who for his part seemed quite happy to return Mel's advances with a giggle of his own.
Picking up a doughnut of his own he slowly licked the frosting from it while leaning back in his chair to watch the unfolding drama happening only a few feet from the green haired boy. Trust Mel to have stumbled on something entertaining. A wickedly pleased smile spread on Mika's face as he continued to clean the top off the pastry in long, slow licks crossing his legs at the knee and wondering at what might have started this particular fight boiling up.

Ren Matsuri the sound of your voice.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mika's answer had been vague but, then again, Ren had expected as much. he was starting to get a feel for the randomness. it was fairly amusing. Ren watched as Mel violated a new person's personal space. the cafeteria had an odd, tense feel to it... Ren decided rather abruptly that he WAS going to get food, and he turned and walked back to the lunch line from where he had been. he ended up with cereal, some eggs, and an English muffin with grape jam. he then got some milk and re-crossed the cafeteria and sat across from Mika. as clingy and random as mel seemed, at least he wasn't a prankster like Mika. Ren kept the mp3 player in as always. his adopted parents used to yell at him for it, saying it was rude to listen to music while eating...but it made no sense to Ren, and he definitely didn't like it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

xxxxxx[ Dear Diary, ] Mel blatantly ignored the other people gathering at the table he’d invaded in favor of focusing his full attention on the small brunette. The stranger had turned to face Mel now and he could see gold eyes that were almost as interesting a color as Mika’s were. His grip drew in slightly, hovering on the edge of choking his newest discovery. His eyes lit at the unearthing of actual dimples, like those set in a child’s toy or drawn on cartoon characters that were supposed to be regarded as particularly cute. He loosed his hold only enough that the brunette was able to twist around and hold onto him in turn.
“Probably,” he answered the other’s question shamelessly. A hand curled a bit in the short brown hair and he wished it were longer. At least it was soft which made it fun to play with. His skin managed to look paler in comparison to the darker rosy brown strands which he tugged insistently when the object of his new interest turned away to stick his tongue out at someone else. Mel didn’t take being ignored well. It was a sign of how intrigued he was by this short boy that he’d indulged the interruption even that far.
“Mel,” he answered in a tone that pushed the subject away and said it wasn’t important. No one really needed to know his name. He only came when one person on earth called anyway. He examined the boy for a moment, debating on demanding a name in return before coming to a different conclusion. His head twisted to find Mika and Ren sitting at a table nearby watching him. Without warning Mel suddenly wrapped his donut free hand around Kai’s arm and pulled, fully intent on stealing him from his current dining companions.
A combination of exaggerated pleading looks and insistent tugs got Kai up and across the short distance to Mika’s table, pulling him with him into a seat. Together they were just barely small enough to fit. “Mika look,” Mel gestured to Kai. “It’s my sized.” He said this in the same tone one uses for finding a t-shirt or fitting pair of pants, smiling a pleased little smile. He set the donut down and licked a bit of chocolate from his thumb where it had melted, eyeing Mika’s plate with occasional distracted glances at Mika’s way of lavishing attention on his own pastry.

xxxxxxxxxxʃ ɑ с ҡ . || CITY BOY - SURFER BOY || Jack glared daggers at Kai, ignoring the little green haired admirer. His eyes slid to Kaito’s, recognizing that cold look as the one he gave off when he was pushing the limits well past annoyed. As far as Jack was concerned, Kaito could damn well be annoyed. At least then Jack wouldn’t be the only one and it would give the redhead some kind of sign that Kaito still gave a damn. His shoulders moved uncomfortably and he was forced to admit to himself that he didn’t actually like that Kaito was upset. But he wasn’t about to apologize for the obvious source of the confliction. If Kaito could keep Kai around, Jack could keep Robin. And later Jack could go about reminding Kaito why there was nothing to worry about on Jack’s end of things.
“No man is an island, Sorazorashii,” Robin answered Kaito calmly, drawing subtle emphasis to the name since Kaito’s history and family would definitely be one of the large obstacles the little would-be couple would have to contend with. It would begin to cause problems soon if it hadn’t already. The gray haired was more than amused by the growing tension, a half smile that lay within easy reach of an all out smirk settled on his lips. He ate slowly and calmly as he watched the others, looking for little things he might make use of later. He was fairly certain Kaito wouldn’t directly attack him in front of Jack, not physically at any rate, and so was content to get off whatever little ribbings he could.
Jack’s mood lifted as not only did Kaito move away from Kai but the green haied boy abruptly attempted to cart the little brown haired nuisance off. Not very far, but at least away from them. Jack’s lips lifted in a grin, silently applauding Mel who’s name he’d caught when the boy had introduced himself to Kai. In better spirits, he was able to turn to Kaito with a grin this time, nodding at the donut in obvious amusement.
“A sweet tooth?” he asked, amused as he tore apart his own treat and popped small pieces in his mouth to chew and swallow before continuing. “Who knew? Now I have an excuse to use you as a guinea pig.” He was referring to cooking though it didn’t quite occur to him that he yet to confess to Kaito that he enjoyed something as odd as cooking. He had to have some useful skill, as his mother would say. Besides, in a family as full as his you learned to cook for yourself or you found yourself at the mercy of those who could.
Robin’s smile faded just a little bit. What the hell was Kai playing at? She needed to come back and interrupt Kaito’s attention since she would be able to do it without incurring Kaito’s wrath. All he could do for the moment was attempt to draw Jack into a different line of thought.
“Where’s the senior class?” he asked, pulling a folded map out of his back pocket and pushing it towards the redhead. Jack studied it with annoyance, then pushed it away.
“How the hell would I know?” he rolled his eyes at Robin. “I’d probably be doing them a favor if I pointed you in the direction of the janitor’s closet.” The corners of Jack's lips twitched in a faint grin.

xxxxx ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▄ ▆ ▄ ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃"Most defiantly."the brunette told the green haired male with a brilliant shower of laughter. He was completely shameless and more than a little adorable. Obviously he was well aware of his charm, probably used it to get his way more than once in his life. A hand curled in Kai's hair and brushed it. Drawing his attention back to the smaller boy and away from the tension growing near them. He wasn't worried that Kaito would get hurt, he might hurt someone else, but that was fine. Besides, how long would the little red-head slut hang around after seeing him blatantly kill someone in cold blood?
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mel. My name's Takanashi Kai."The honey brown orbs danced in delight, reinforcing the highly polite introduction before he was suddenly yanked out of his chair and pulled towards another table. Brown flickered back towards his own table, noticing that Kaito had turned his head with deliberate slowness towards Robin.
"Did you come up with that one on your own, Saraph?"the blue haired male practically purred, at least as close as you could get while radiating enough ice to cut. Returning the favour with one of his own. Yes he recognized that who he was would be a problem, but then he had a very simple solution to most things that became issues. They died. He'd been taught that way nearly from birth and it was rather deeply ingrained at this point. His use of the boy's last name probably didn't have as much impact because he wouldn't be aware of just what it meant. Kaito had enough connections to know EVERYTHING about someone. It wasn't just Kai that had run a background check on him that morning.
Deciding that he may be without a partner soon, going off the tone of voice, Kai turned his head back around to be introduced to a silver haired male and a red-head with head-phones plugged in his ears. Kai hadn't been immune to the pleading look he'd been hit with and as such dropped into the offered seat as he was introduced to whom he assumed was Mika. His laughter bubbled up again, the dimple flashing, as the grey eyes calmly looked the brunette over while he continued lapping at the frosting. If he hadn't been interested only in his Kaito, the move might have been attractive.
"That's nice. Is it housebroken?"The silver haired shaman drawled in an amused tone, light grey eyes clearly amused both by the newest addition to the table and Mel's pleased little smile. Mika pushed the tray containing actually healthy foods towards the other boy as he finished licking off the frosting and set the doughnut back on the edge of the tray before catching the pale eyes of his companion and carefully cleaning off his fingers with his tongue in a mimic of what Mel had just done to his own thumb.
"Amazingly so, as a matter of fact. I even remember to leave the toilet seat down."Kai answered, leaning forward to settle his chin on his hand and watch the bi-play between these two. Glancing his honey gaze towards the red-head with a silent question as to what he had missed. Where they a couple? Or was something more going on? ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▄ ▆ ▄ ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

╔════════════════════╗ soʀɑᴢoʀɑsʜɪɪ кɑɪᴛo ╚════════════════════╝
"An artist is a dreamer consenting to dream of the actual world"
The slate blue orbs of the young heir had caught the slight movement from Jack, a twist of his lips up into a smile. Following the amethyst line of sight he realized that Kai had gotten pulled off to another table and was currently speaking with the short green haired male and a silver haired one. She seemed safe enough and had things well in hand, so he returned his attention to the red-head who was commenting on his choice of food. The ice thawed just a little as what counted for a smirk from him tugged ever so slightly at the corner of his lip.
"I shudder to think for what."he intoned in a monotone. As he didn't have the reference to go off it just seemed a trifle random to be decided as a guinea pig in something because he occasionally liked sweet foods. Given Robin clearly seemed upset about their conversation, his smile fading just a little before he desperately attempted to change the conversation. The fact that it worked only had the ice frosting back into place.
Jack was looking at the map, a little to close to the watching grey haired male for Kaito's piece of mind as his finger slid along the upper edge of the knife slowly, empty slate blue eyes watching Jack easily roll his eyes at the question before teasing the other male in return. Normally it would have been outside his personality for Kaito to feel jealousy, he knew he was better than just about everyone and that was fine. But Jack seemed determined to pull out odd nuances of his reactions and this was no exception.
"He might actually learn something from that, a broom has to be closer to your intelligence level, Saraph."the comment was arctic cold for all its obvious annoyance and jealousy. It didn't touch the tone but the words themselves. The cold eyes currently locked on Robin were wondering just how easily he could slide the knife into his jugular and how long it would take him to bleed out if he did.

Ren Matsuri the sound of your voice.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ren laughed a little at the 'it's my sized' comment, letting out only air, but the laugh found voice after Mika's response. not a loud laugh, but it could be heard. it increase in intensity after the new person's reply. his mp3 player was still going, in a borderline loud volume. but ren could easily distinguish the pitches of someone talking and separate them without much conscious thought. the fact that almost nobody could speak with perfect tuning aided that considerably.
Ren caught something close to the intended meaning of the gaze...but he had no idea how exactly yo respond...the boys were cousins who slept together. Ren didn't actually know if they were romantically involved, or just afraid of the dark or something. he really was in no place to answer the question. he also assumed there was an are they always like this somewhere in the glance, but still...Ren had only known them since last night. he returned the look with a tilt of his head, and a shrug.
he wondered about it for a second, before moving to more important thoughts like finishing his cereal. he hadn't eaten since he had been on the road yesterday...and the full 24 hours without food annoyed him slightly. besides, who knew when these two would spike his food or something. he didn't know how far mika's prankster tenancies went, and wanted as much of his food gone as possible before attention was on him...though he didn't eat quickly by any means. he also found himself not needing to lick himself to be clean, which he figured was likely a good thing. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
if it were all i could hear, i'd still be okay.

xxxxxxxxxxʃ ɑ с ҡ . || CITY BOY - SURFER BOY || “What, you don’t trust me?” Jack asked Kaito, the smirk slipping onto his lips suggesting this was a very healthy attitude to have. Actually, it might be fun to see what he could convince Kaito to try. All he ever seemed to eat apart from breakfast were those steaks done the same way every time. The heir would have less options with the school lunches of course, but there had to be a place between school lunch and steak. How hard could it be to simply figure out when the kitchen would be empty and sneak down for a midnight snack? With Kaito. And possibly a blindfold.
Jack’s smile said his mind had begun to edge in the same direction his thoughts had taken on the airplane home. Was it his fault it was so very satisfying to see the very composed Kaito in a more compromising light? He suddenly regretted having let Robin take the seat next to Kaito, even if it mean he’d have to look at Kai while he ate. The brunette was gone anyway, he could just…
Jack answered Robin’s question then chuckled at Kaito’s response. Admittedly, the edge of danger in Kaito’s voice was creeping into levels even Jack couldn’t ignore. It was weird having Kaito be the jealous one but oddly endearing at the same time. Who knew the blue haired boy could be classified as endearing? Jack might have made a comment if there had been a few less ears around. Instead he pushed the map back to Robin with obvious distraction, missing the angry glare shot his way when he moved around to steal Kai’s seat and push it onto the same side as Kaito. Perfect. Now if Kai came back he’d have to sit as far away from Kaito as the table allowed and Jack was in a position to pull Kaito’s chair away from Robin’s and back towards him.
Robin bit the glare back down and did his best to look bored as Jack half leaned out of his seat to grin at Kaito and wrap his arm around the blue haired male’s upper arm. Jack was shooting a smirk at Kai before turning back to Kaito and Robin felt his nails dig into his own thigh under the table. Damn it. Kaito was supposed to get mad enough to say something that would make him look irrationally jealous and possessive. He knew he’d been almost there, the tension had been thick enough to drown in. Was Kai serious about this or not? Off playing with the first distraction to come along when moments like this shouldn’t have been allowed to happen.
“It’s so weird seeing you two together,” he finally said, forcing casual relaxation into his voice as he settled back. “It just doesn’t look like it’d work. Funny to watch you be serious about something, Firefly. Don’t worry, I get you’re not just messing around this time.” He smiled faintly. This was less a calculated strike than a little experiment to distract himself. He just wanted to see if Kaito showed any sign that he wasn’t as secure as he seemed about all this. Kaito was reacting pretty strongly to Robin’s little show. That usually meant doubts lingered. Were they strong enough doubts to harness and use?
Jack relaxed a little at the words, arm still linked with Kaito’s. Crap, his breakfast was on the other side of the table now. Rather than get up, he stole a bite of Kaito’s. “Just because you couldn’t be serious about something for more than ten minutes,” Jack answered as he swallowed, continuing the conversation on reflex rather than actually investing himself in it.
The gray haired boy nodded slowly, though he didn’t look concerned. Instead he reclined in his chair regally with a pleasant smile. “How long were we together?”
Suddenly uncomfortable, Jack’s grip on Kaito tightened and he gave a one-shoulder shrug. That wasn’t the direction he’d meant the conversation to go in. “When’s class?” he asked instead, looking for someone with a watch. And did he have enough time to mess around on the roof first? Heights. Jack really liked heights. He’d feel better if he could just head up there for a bit instead of trudging off to a desk.

xxxxxx[ Dear Diary, ] Mel began picking bits of food from Mika’s plate with a casual indifference that said it was near routine for him to do so. It probably explained the excessive portions on Mika’s plate in the first place. Stealing a few spoonfuls of oatmeal, he turned in the direction of Ren’s laughter, tilting his head a little. He didn’t quite understand Ren, but that didn’t keep him from being interesting. Mel made himself comfortable against his newest discovery as though Kai were a kind of cushioning for the seat.
The green eyed boy raised his eyebrows at Mika as if to say ‘see?’ when Kai answered. He could keep the little brunette and he would be no trouble. Not that it would be long before Mel was distracted by something else. It was hard for him to settle on any one thing for long, moving from attraction to attraction at seeming random, occasionally returning to one more often if it struck him as particularly memorable.
His eyes strayed to the headphones Ren was wearing. The redhead was participating in the conversation well enough. Were they even on? They had to be. Thinking back to the room, Ren had been playing music in one form or another from the moment they’d met. Perhaps he was planning to be a music major and it counted as studying? Mel began to eye the headphones with increasing interest, wanting to know what was so fascinating about the song he was currently listening to that he wouldn’t even put it aside to appreciate the new face Mel had brought to the table.
He slipped out of the chair and moved behind Ren, hands on the back of the redhead’s chair. Then he leaned forward and pressed his cheek against Ren’s lining his ear up with the other’s in an attempt to catch the faint strains of whatever music he was listening to without actually removing the headphones.
[ Today I told a lie. ]xxxxxx
