He picked up the pace, bolting as fast as he could. He didn't care is she had a gun, he had a feeling that the little weapon would have no effect on whatever was lurking in the deep. He grabbed her gun arm as soon as he was within reach and tugged as hard as he could. "DO YOU NOT LISTEN!? GET THE F*** OUT OF HERE!!" he yelled as he used all his strength to throw her away from the water entirely. but his size difference only gave her the advantage of a 10 foot distance. But still, it made a difference as the beast had lurched out of the water, jaws snapping at whatever it could get a hold of.

Dutch saw the beast, it looked to be some odd sea dragon, but he didn't have time to speculate at it, because it was coming after him now. He jumped up, stumbled a bit in his mad dash and bolted, picking up Nariko as he ran past "GO! GO! Get to the mountains!!" he shouted in his military command voice. He wasn't about to find out if that thing could follow or not, so running away was the best thing they had

There was little time to think, or react...she'd never encountered aliens or creatures of this magnitude. She had been told the best defense was to not let them out of her sight; which she didn't until she felt the strong paw grasp on her arm and wrench back. The pain which snapped through her shoulder and muscle caused a pained yelp from her throat; but even then, without a second notice she was flung from the water and onto the shore where she barely twisted to land on her other shoulder.

"God damnit!" She hissed painfully, whipping her head as she could see the daunting size of the creature in full; catching what Dutch couldn't see since he broke into a run back. Oh, it had legs, and without a doubt had land capabilities; if it decided such. Yet what the hell was it doing out here? When his voice felt as if it would shatter her ear drums as her body was once more wrenched up to run before she could even stand. Stumbling the first few steps till she gained her footing since she wasn't used to such a pace without her boots, Nariko dug her claws into the sand and found her pacing; thankful to feel the solid ground under her paws once they hit the incline of the trail.

Feeling her stumble on the first few steps, tugged a bit more to ease her balance, but soon found it was unnecessary as she had picked up the pace and bolted to the mountain trail. He followed behind as fast as he could but with each step he took in the soft non supportive sand, he felt his ankle strain more and more. It was only a matter of time before it gave out, but as he looked down, he saw it wasn't just the fall that had gotten him..but no time for that.

He looked over his shoulder to see the beast had picked itself out of the water and was giving chase, having no problems on the soft sand. "NARIKO!! SHOOT IT'S EYE!!" he shouted ahead after spotting the third eye glaring him down. It wasn't long before the thing had caught up and knocked him over, snapping it's jaws at him, missing thanks to his frantic crawling

Hitting the trail hard, it wasn't until the sounds of her companion had not hit her ears in a few moments that she too glanced over her shoulder to have her heart leap painfully into her throat as the beast had caught with with ease to Dutch; her paws skidding to a half running stop to charge her back to the beach when he was knocked to the ground and nearly chomped on.

It was all so fast, as her heart painfully pounded in a rush of adrenalin she pulled the release on her chest plate while still up on the hill to have it fall to the ground. She knew she was faster without it and right now she needed all the speed she could muster. Racing down with a leap across the sands, she leveled off her pistol as she bolted; reminding her to thank Briareos for the little training he did give her with the gun to stop only for a moment to aim and fire three rounds at the creatures center eye. With any luck one would at least make some kind of hit or offer her enough distraction.

Taking off again she reached him with little time to spare and in a looping motion without losing momentum she holstered the gun for the time being and grabbed his chest plate with both paws to heave him to his paws and took off back to the mountain. She glanced to his legs, wondering what had caused him to slow; but she refused to let go of him this time unless she knew he could keep up. "Are you alright!" She yelled in fit of panic, hoping he'd make the connection of him not keeping up and her asking.

The beast had flipped him on his back and tried to snap and paw at his armored head but he grabbed the open mouth that came at him and tried to push it away as it strained to bite at him. From where he was, he could see directly into the creatures mouth. In some twist of bravery, he opened the mouth wider, and stuck a foot in place of one of his hands. He clenched his fist and threw it into the beasts mouth, aiming for the back of the throat. Coincidentally, Nariko's shots rang through his ears as one hit dead center.

Now gagging and holding it's forehead, the blue dragon whimpered and stumbled around, slowly making it's retreat to the sea, all the while Dutch was snatched up and hauled away.

"Don't worry about me now! Just get away!" he said as he put his feet on the ground and started to run, looking over his shoulder to find the beast sliding into the water and swimming into deeper water. A moment of relief came over Dutch as he stopped running when his foot hit the rocky trail

Letting go as commanded as she'd take a few stride ahead of him; it wasn't until hitting the trail that she slowed to a stop about the same time he did. However, making her way the short few feet up father did she reach her chest plate and attached boots. Dropping to sit beside them to try and calm her racing heart, she wasted no time to secure and slip on the armor; enjoying the feel of her boots back on her paws.

Looking up as the creature had slipped back into the water which it came and the threat deminished for the time being; her gaze slowly fell over to Dutch.

Why had he followed her? Put his life on the line to save her of all people. It wasn't like he owed her anything....or liked her for that matter. Although she had a million other things she should have asked, only one found its way past her lips as her eyes fell to the ground. "T-thank...you..."

As soon as he hit that rock face, he relaxed and felt the adrenaline ease from his veins. He pointed to the cliff he had jumped from in the begin with. "That will give us the high ground. If that thing comes back, and it will, we need to be out of it's sight" he explained as he started up the hill, not hearing Nariko's thank you.

He was starting to feel the pang of his ankle as he realized from the blue ooze on his boot that he could have been bitten. It wouldn't have been anything that could have stopped him, but it was still a flag for concern.

As he got to the mini cliff and situated himself on flat rock, taking off his boot to find he did blow out the ankle, but to his relief finding only little red spots to where the teeth had touched. Thank god for armor. He wasted no time in pulling off his pack and pulling out a long white cloth he had found on his travels, tying it around his ankle as support. It would do. He couldn't remember how many of these he had, and he knew that if he just took it easy, it would heal in a few days.

He looked up and pointed to the distant tape. "This is a crime scene. Have you not heard of the murders that have happened here?" he said not realizing she was at all grateful...he couldn't imagine her being like that

Come back? Lovely. Nariko nodded, unaware her gratitude had gone unheard as she assumed as always he didn't care enough to answer her back. Getting to her feet after he passed she followed him up to the cliff, figuring he knew much better about these things than her not to trust him.

As they arrived and Dutch had settled onto a flat rock, she took one herself a few feet away; sitting with her back leaning against it as she brought her knees up to her chest. Stealing a glance to his ankle, it only brought her more concern...but she said nothing.

However she was spoken to once more, following his paw to see the tape she hadn't noticed from her lower altitude earlier....thankful she had at least chose the spot she had for trying to run on the slippery rocks would have been suicidal. "No....I didn't know." She remembered her father saying something about hostile alien activity; but he hadn't mentioned where...so it could have been anywhere. "There wasn't anything saying otherwise on the way here..." Her voice was soft and oddly calm; feeling more embarrassed than anything at this point in time. "...is that why you followed me here?"

He lowered his paw, giving her a baffled look with a twist of a sneer. "How could you NOT know? It's all over the island" he said as he motioned to the empty beach with his head. "This is supposedly the most popular beach...don't you find it odd that NO ONE is here?" he said shaking his head slightly. He couldn't believe that he wasn't the only person she didn't listen to...then again, he had a vibe that she talked to no one else. Ignorance was no excuse to him.

Despite his blatantly angry questioning, he let it go and shook his head, having no hope for the vixen. "I was waiting for my team. I knew not to come here so I waited in the field..I didn't expect to see anyone just waltz in...much less you" he sighed as he looked over the beach again, now seeing the glowing spot return, but not moving...Maybe he killed it
PostPosted: Fri Jul 09, 2010 11:47 pm

Oddly keeping her cool, she didn't allow her eyes to fall from the distant tape....had she been so lost in her world that she really didn't notice it? No...she had looked as far as she could and did not see the tape from that height when she first arrived. Twisting her ears back as her eyes dropped half lidded, she felt herself lightly running a pawtip along the cold metal of her armor. "I've never been here before." Nariko said plainly, couldn't he see she wasn't social? "I was glad there was no one here, to be honest; its more peaceful to be alone."

Catching the shake of his head as his anger seemed to fade, she took the moment to look over; her gaze stern. "That still doesn't answer why you came. You obviously found out it was me, and knew not to come here....so why did you stay much less save me? Forgive me, but it strikes me odd to risk your life for someone you hate who isn't in your team or anything." It was hard to keep the irritability from her voice; but she did her best as she spoke in an almost monotone like voice. Her eyes followed his as she too spotted the glow in the water, her tail bristling from before.

He shook his head, feeling his anger rise again. "Your a smart girl..Empty beach on a day like this...come on...even I could figure that out..."he gave her a cold look through his opaque visor. He knew she thought he was stupid, and so he didn't see any point in saying anything that would hurt...even if it was out of the ordinary.

But still, he didn't appreciate the limited gratitude. That spitfire came up and already he was regretting following her. "Well ok.." he stood, a little shaky at first, but soon caught his balance, grabbing his boot and slowly sliding his foot in. "Next time I won't be a nice guy. Sound good?" he spoke harshly shaking his head. "Next time I will just sit in that field and let you get killed. And when your mother comes back wondering where you were I'll say 'Sorry, she didn't want me to help her'" he continued. Obviously his point being that he was only doing it for her mother. "Would you like that? Or are you just going to accept the fact that I saved you and leave it like that?" he inquired, wishing he could glare her down like he did all his other troops...but alas..he was too short

Oh, he was asking for it. Here she was trying her best to be civil and once again it was for nothing; she knew her father didn't know what he was talking about when he said it would work out. She would have enlightened him there was little point to train on the beach and thus would have no use for it to even know it was a popular beach, but she kept her mouth shut.

However, when he spoke of her mother she froze, feeling that anger rise up that he even bring her up in such a tone; even if it was not directed at her at all. Standing up to her height she turned to face him directly as she readied to release the beast when....she looked dumb struck. Had he not heard her? Next thing, she found herself laughing to the point she had to cover her mouth as her cheeks turned a shade of red similar to her armor. "Oh man!" She chuckled, trying to calm herself. "You've been hanging around me too much....seems you didn't hear me. I said thank you as soon as we reached the trail. I'll say it again, Thank you, Dutch. I'd hug you if I wasn't sure I'd get punched in the gut." A sincere smile crossed her lips for a moment, before seeming to realize how happy she must have looked and quickly dulled it to a idle expression as she looked back to the water.

"I wonder....what it's doing..."

Finally...a decent reaction out of her he thought as he was face to face with an angry fox, when suddenly she burst out laughing. With brow furrowing further, he stared at her with wide eyes, half between angry and confused. When she explained herself he rolled his eyes. Now he really couldn't take her seriously.

He walked over to the cliff edge and sat down, letting his legs drape off, staring at the glowing light as he used the zoom on his helmet. He saw from where it was that the water was breaking around the upper half of the beast's head. He could visibly see those eyes glaring him down. It knew they were there. Probably from Nariko's laughing.

"It's watching us"
PostPosted: Sat Jul 10, 2010 1:28 am

Lowering herself to sit on the rock, she watched him sit down on the edge without a word; putting her cheek on her paw as she rested her elbow on her knee. So much for that. She thought as she looked back out to the sea where Dutch was watching the creature.

Thinking back to what Jerome had said, she knew she shouldn't had taken it to heart. It was buisness, and she knew she'd just have to treat it like such.

"Watching....us?" She asked on a bit of a quieter tone, feeling that unnerving feeling chill down her spine once more. "Maybe...we should get out of here?"

"We?" he asked not moving from his staring contest with the creature at sea, who eventually realized there was no point and sank back to the depths...but the glowing remained. It was just waiting for someone stupid to walk near.

"What's this we? You can leave whenever you like..I'm not stopping you" he said casually as he turned to look over his shoulder. He did however reach for the scallop she had picked up earlier in her bag. "You don't want this..trust me..it will kill you" he said as he opened it, surprised to find he might have actually been right when the usual gooey blob was a small mass of and ever changing blue. It gave a nasty vibe to Dutch, so he pitched it as far as he could.
