Wykla clamps a hand to her bleeding leg and slowly gets to her feet. As much as she didn't want to stand up those sands were hot and said otherwise. Quickly with a sleeve of her candidate robe, she wipes away tears. Hoping no one else saw them.
Looking around she sees that the gold did Impress after all. That was good. It looked like now the Queen was leaving the last three. Duds? Or just maybe.... She bites her lip in hope.

Kentori breathed a sigh of relief - she had clearly Impressed, by the look of it. I told you she would find Hers! You shouldn't have worried. Lalaith stretched her wings out and shuffled them a bit. I have an itch. Scratch it please? With a smirk, Kentori kneeled beside her and began to rub the place that he could feel. Yes, that feels good!
Rhilira sighed as the gold Impressed to someone else she didn't know. That was good. A queen going between would not be good...
I told you, though now that girl is just as useless as the boy who Impressed the bronze. We can outsmart them any day! Galianth crooned and looked up at Hers for just a moment, then put her eyes back on the sands. She was just as curious as Rhilira now that there were still three unhatched eggs on the sands.

The Queen had Impressed! Tie let out a sigh of relief and a smile crossed over her tired face, the feeling of sleepiness that Filanth was experiencing slowly leaking over into her mind and body. Was this what it meant to be truly bonded?
See? She has Impressed, she is safe. Were you worried? Don't lie, because you can't lie.
"I wasn't that worried, but I was nervous for her. She was hurting people, even if it was on accident."
I would never hurt you.
"I know. But now what? There are duds out there, will you try and stay awake to see them? You can sleep if you want, I'll let you know what comes from it."
Filanth gave a yawn, the scent of raw meat and blood pouring over Tie's close face, and the girl rubbed an eye ridge to ease her lifemate into sleep. Now was time for the duds to be hatched, now was time for the reason why this Weyr was so different.

There, that is better. Capeth neither stopped eating nor looked up, but his words made Lothan pause briefly. The brown hatchling shoved his nose imperiously against Lothan's hand. She found Hers, Capeth went on calmly. Now you may cease to worry. Pioth and His are here, we will greet them when I am done with my eating.
"But only when you're done," Lothan murmured, grinning as he shoveled food into Capeth's mouth. He nodded to the bronze and his new rider; but he couldn't help glancing back to where the Candidates stood, where the little gold had chosen and was now greeting - Whoa, was that Ther's girl? Lothan's smile grew wider, then faded slightly. The only thing better would be if Ther had Impressed too. Maybe - there were still three eggs left. They couldn't all be duds.
Cease worrying, Capeth repeated, and sat back on his haunches. All is well.

Zeren was concerned, the three eggs as yet unhatched worried him, maybe they were all dead eggs, maybe he'd not Impress, he'd never thought what he'd do with himself if he didnt, oh he'd stay in they weyr, but his parents would have a reason to say 'i told you so' all they wanted was him to forget his 'silly' dreams, he'd prove them wrong ..... one day, and anyway, he had his Flit, they hadnt, and neither had his sister before she'd died and that was Llike a dragon ... almost. He stopped in his thoughts and waited to see what the Weyrleaders would do with the duds

Finally! Sharajan shook his head in disbelief. Took her long enough, silly girl. The idea of taking one's own sweet time about such things when a life was on the line.
Now, all he had to do was wait through these eggs and he could go back to what he was doing. Which was *sleeping*. That'd been a very nice dream he'd been having, though he could remember scant little of it now. Hopefully this wouldn't take too long; he'd heard atypicals were smarter than normal, so maybe they'd find theirs quicker.
That is, if any of them were living.

Eyes went wide as the dragonet's met her own, and Impression happened in a flash. What once was one was now two, and it didn't feel even remotely unnatural. In fact, it felt better than ever before, and her already warm heart glowed hotter than the Sands to have the voice ringing in her head. INAARIMINE! Why are you there!? You should be here, with your Ianath! Inaari simply smiled and moved up to Hers and stroked her lovely bright head with a lightly calloused and freckled hand. "I'm right here, Ianath. You've done a wonderful job so far, do you want to eat?" They had stressed that. Getting them to eat was important, and now that the nerves of not Impressing had passed, the girl was serene.
Ianath pressed into her hand, eyes settling but still whirling with emotion. Now that I have you, I would really like to eat. I am very hungry, but do not let me eat too much! Good queens are not fat! Therion forgotten for now in the face of the most tremendously wonderful moment in her entire short life, the girl led the hatchling off the Sands, heart and mind swollen with love and potential. Ianath was Hers, and they belonged together, and she wouldn't be lonely and out of place ever again! How could you do anything but beam and feel so unendingly grateful in the face of that?

When her dragon had settled and the last of the dragons had Impressed, she produced a long shovel-like object that she’d been leaning on and walked out on to the Sands. “Order! ORDER!” She called, the command punctuated by the rumbling of Feynath as the gold also demanded a return to quiet. “Candidates! Reform your lines! Sharp and crisp! I will open these eggs and if your lifemate is within, they will stumble towards you. Atypical dragons need much care these first few days – it is imperative that you do not forget this. Understood!? FORM UP!” She spoke with the firm authority of a Weyrwoman but she was not unkind as she slung the silvery shovel over her shoulder and headed towards the egg nearest the Candidates, kicking sand up as she walked.

Zeren snapped to attention as the Weyrwoman spoke, obeying her almost instantly he moved into rank, his dreams lay within these eggs, he nodded an affirmation to her, keeping his eyes slightly averted in respect, knowing that f he Impressed here, he was in for sleepless nights. He visibly winced as she swung the shovel over her shoulder *i didnt know THATS how they broke the shells* he thought with slight horror.

When it seemed that she had impressed, A'li turns his attention back to feeding His, which is welcomed heartily by Zinth.
I told you she'd find Hers, mine! Oh that piece was good!
A'li only shakes his head again and holds the next piece just out of reach. "You need to chew a bit slower Zinth. I'm not going to have you choking on me. There's plenty to go around you won't miss any, I promise." When the little green seems to take his light chiding to heart, he hands over the next strip of meat.

Wykla hears the call to form up. The Weyrwoman was opening the dud eggs. She gives a sharp exhale as she tries to walk to the end of the line. She did Not want to be caught in a group like that again. If she really had to move she wanted room to do so. Although she wasn't sure she'd really be able to dodge if another stumbling dragonet came her way. She would just hope for the best.

With the barked commands of the Weyrwoman, Therion kept himself smartly in place with the others. That was a voice and tone that brooked no arguments!
He felt his stomach lurching once more - Loth and Inaari had found theirs, he simply had to find his! And even though there were many more standing on the heated sands...Therion felt himself calming some. He would Impress.
Or he wouldn't. But he refused to think like that. Later, if he didn't Impress, he could be sad about it, but right then he would be confident as he ever had been.

So now the eggs were cracking. If they did indeed hold a dragonet inside then those around would be privy to one and find themselves with a rare gem, though it were a true dud...then it would be rather gross and Tie really didn't want to think on that. At her side Filanth gave a small dragon-equivalent chuckle of agreement, though both stayed entirely silent. This was not her first time seeing Atypicals on the sands, there had been some in the clutches before, and so Tie knew the rules - even if she had already Impressed.
Seeing these dragons attach was something far more important that a Queen, at least in her opinion. Filanth echoed her seconding to that statement, and together they watched and waited.

Sevya jerked to attention; the sands had been making her a tad sleepy, but the steely voice of the Weyrwoman woke her up like a whipcrack over her head. She trotted over to the rest of the candidates, forming up as ordered. Not much longer now...
She wondered if there would be any living hatchlings. The atypicals were rare; there couldn't be three of them waiting out there, could there? Surely not.

Kleos snapped to attention right away, and moved with the other girls to re-form the neat line that had been disturbed by the commotion of the former half of the hatching. If Hers was there... Shards, if Hers was there, she would give the weak little dragon everything, every moment of every day for the rest of her life if that was what it wanted... But then so would everyone else here. She might be a good person, but she really had no more to offer a dragonet than anyone else here; it was all down to the match, not how virtuous you were.
