"Nope, hardly a stranger." He sensed her unease and gave her his most reassuring smile. "Of course. Farin has impressed upon us all the dangers of between." Still not wanting to pry, he asked softly, "Did you.. lose someone..?"
Rinfala swallowed hard and nodded. "Aye...he was...well, a good friend, you could say. Went between during training...never came out. I mean, it's usually expected for some to be lost during that phase but still..." She trailed off, a haunted look in her eyes.

L'mur reached out and patted Rin's hand comfortingly. "I'm so sorry," he murmured, not really knowing what else to say. He squeezed her hand lightly. "I'll be extra careful," he promised.

Oh No I trained at the harper hall, although I was found a little late in life, I was nearing my teens when I was scouted. " She giggled softly and blushed. "well ive had my hands full with this little delight." she indicated the green who was now curled up and sleeping on the table. "besides.. there's always time for tuning." Talare smiled and brushed away a few raven strands of hair that masked her eyes.

"You know Kyira, You look so great in that dress its a pitty that your not out there dancing, Go out and leave my wall flower self. Have yourself a a bit of fun before its back to the every day duties. You never know, you may find a handsome young lad to sweep you off your feet." She giggled and winked.
"As long as he can sweep me off my feet in a good dance I'll be happy!" Kyira giggled back. Any underlying meaning behind the Harper's wink was lost on her naivity. Although having a functioning knowledge about how things worked from a healer's viewpoint, it never occured to her they could be on e personal level. At least she had never been so moved to become even curious about it.

She was willing to wait until she was asked to dance, but then the players struck up the opening warmups for one of her favorite fast paced dances. Her eyes lit up. "I think I will have to grab my own partner! Fellis, stay here with Talare or wait for me in our rooms."

Sated, Fellis prefered to stay put. With a glance to reasure herself of the firelizard's choice, Kyira went to scan the crowd for a likely dance partner. She was about to do the unthinkable thing of calling out for a dance partner when she spied C'tari near the drink booths, right beside the food booths. With a happy little laugh she gracefully ran up to him. "C'tari!" She greeted the bronzerider merrily. Putting her hand in the crook of his arm she gave a tiny tug. "Come dance with me!"

She smiled winningly; the smile that unknowingly to her often caused her to get her way. It would almost be devious, if she was not so naive.

The young firelizard chirped, pleased with Jess' suggestion. "Seems that she likes your suggestion. Ok, Beryl.... if that's to be your name, I need you to be quiet a moment so that I can look around for this nice young lady's brother, who will help us find food. Can you do that for me?" Siran looked down at the young green Beryl, and grinned a bit when the littling chirped again.

After a moment, the flit went silent, and she began to scan the crowds for L'mur. It took her a little while, but she was able to find him in the throng. "Shards, but your brother makes friends as easy as breathing. If I'm not mistaken, he's talking to Rinfala, rider of brown ((brown!!)) Zelith now." Zelith was a male that Tiranth enjoyed teasing, mostly, perhaps, because the green favored self assurance in dragons. As such, Siran was at least passingly familiar with the rider's appearance.

((I had a couple of Pern rps going before I came here, so I confused the two... even though I know that this one is a brown.))

Rinfala started slightly, shaking her head a little in an attempt to clear it of memories of that day, a little over two Turns ago. She squeezed back and gave a hesitant smile, hoping to reassure him. "Please do..."

It troubles her, Zelith said quietly. She goes between because she must. But she hates it for what it took from her. You remind her of him, a little.
(*chuckles* Only dragon name I know here is Ariath, and that's 'cuz that was a gold pair back at my first Weyr.)

Jess scratched the little green's headknob. "Yes, I think Beryl suits her quite well." Az gave a little "queep" as if approving the name, causing Jess to giggle again.

She followed Siran's line of sight. "Oh! There he is. People do like him, even though he's usually awfully shy. He's opened up some, I think." Committing the woman's face to memory, she muttered, "Rinfala, brown Zelith."
----

"I will," L'mur repeated solemnly.
I see, he told Zelith. She is brave, then, to go /between/. And I will consider it an honor of sorts, if I remind her of him.

A flash of blue and red caught his attention. He'd know that figure anywhere. "There's my sister!" he exclaimed, grateful for the distraction. He waved, although it was clear she, and Siran, he noticed, were coming his way.

Rinfala perked up, glad of the distraction. She gave Siran and the girl a little wave, forcing a smile to her face. "She a candidate, or just visiting? And is that a firelizard I see?" Her tone was approving.

"He is shy? Perhaps... but I think that his familiarity with dragons helps him in that respect." Siran walked smoothly towards the pair, a hand steadying young Beryl as the green peered curiously at L'mur and Rinfala. The littling could not be expected to think a whole lot of sense, but she was certainly developing a certain amount of curiousity.

Siran noted the girl's odd look and the mutter, thinking that perhaps she was humming a snatch of a tune or something. Not that it mattered. There was merriment in plenty to be found here, for all that that was far from what the rider wanted. A little peace and quiet would not hurt. Greetings, L'mur. Saranth grows stronger and more wise with age. Tiranth complimented, amused by her young protege.

Also noting the wave, Siran returned it. The gesture looked more like a salute than anything else. She was more accustomed to formalities than easy, friendly sweeps of the arm.

"She's just visiting, for now at least. Mother had a hard time letting her go, as she's the youngest. Personally, I think she'd be a wonderful candidate; she's very good with her little bronze firelizard." L'mur grinned, obviously proud of his little sister.

Jessmet nodded. "Oh yes, he used to be very shy. Perhaps he's coming out of his shell?" She waggled her eyebrows at the joke. Her steps quickened as she neared her brother, and Az perked up, smelling the meatrolls on the table.
"Who's your girlfriend?" she teased, simultaneously pecking L'mur on the cheek and snagging a meatroll for the hungry bronze.

L'mur flushed horribly. "Jeeessss!" The girl snorted. L'mur rolled his eyes.
"This is Rinfala. Rinfala, my sister Jessmet and Siran, rider of green Tiranth." He indicated each woman as he named them.

Greetings to you, Tiranth!

Rinfala flushed, turning bright red like, well...a weyrling. She nodded quickly to them each, hoping they hadn't noticed. "Um, uh...hello. Nice to meet you," she said, nodding to them each in turn. "Who's that bronze cutie you've got there, miss Jessmet?"

Rannan, as usual, came crashing into the grouping of dragonriders and weyrfolk. The young smith always seemed to be in a great hurry, and never with a mind about where he was going. This time, unsurprisingly, he was taken aback by the hiss of a young firelizard. A little green sat imposingly on the shoulder of a rider who seemed very familiar. He looked beyond her to find-

"Oh, L'mur... I'm sorry. I've gone and muddled things again. Can you forgive my clumsiness?" For he'd bumped into the weyrling again. He gave the lad (a year older than he, even) a genuinely apologetic smile, brushing strands of black hair out of his green eyes. His own blue firelizard, Teal, mantled on his arm, chittering quietly at him. He was not pleased to be rattled so.

"Can't quite keep your feet, can you lad?" Siran looked with mild irritation at the young smith who seemed to forever be bumping into folk. He blushed, ashamed of himself, but made no move to speak. "Ah well... it's Turn's End. Not everyone has had the proper amount of sleep around here."

She glanced at Rinfala. "A pleasure to see you again, Rinfala. Your brown has caused quite a stir." From what she knew of him, he was at least as egotistical as her own dragon. What was she doing chattering away like an old auntie? It wasn't like her at all. "L'mur," she said simply in greeting.

Wisely, L'mur ignored Rin's blush. "Don't mind her, she doesn't know what she's talking about," he told Rin, rolling his eyes at his sister.

"I do too!" Jessmet protested. She stuck out her tongue in a -very- un-ladylike manner. Regaining her dignity, she smiled cheerily at Rinfala. "Please, Jess is fine. And this handsome boy is Az." The bronze's chirp was muffled, as he was busily stuffing bits of meatroll into his mouth.

"Good to see you, Siran," L'mur started say-- and was interrupted as the large figure of Rannan whacked into him. "Oof! Good thing I was already sitting down, hm, Rannan?" He winked, referring to their previous meeting, which had involved L'mur falling down rather hard.

((Well, I'm a bit late. *sigh*))

Remia enjoyed festivals, but she'd been here all day, dancing and feasting, and was now sitting at an out of the way table, slowly drinking a mug of wine and taking in the people passing. There was a fresh plate of meatrolls before her that she had retrieved on her way here, and she was idly breaking off bits for the little blue jewel that was halfway down her shoulder begging for more.

"Oh, Oki, don't be so greedy, I'll feed you..."

Are those really that good? Could I try one, Mine? Trith asked, from where she was lounging next to the table. She arched her neck around, and pushed herself into a sitting position with her forelegs.

"He's not too long out his shell, dearest. And of course you can try one, Trith. One meatroll, coming up," Remia replied, and popped one of the larger specimens into the waiting mouth of her green.

The little green considered, then said, It is good, but I don't think it deserves that much attention, she said, referring to the little blue flit, who was now making the most pathetic noises in an effort to get more.

Remia quickly silenced him with another small bit of the roll, and grinned at Trith. "Well, you have a more discriminating taste than his, dear." Okiuli had settled down to chew his mouthful, and with it came the feeling of contentment and relief. He was almost full now, nearing the middle of the second meatroll.

Remia popped a bite into her own mouth, making an appreciative noise at the spices involved. "Not bad." she remarked, and washed it down with a drink from her mug. Now all she needed was some bubblies... she looked around, wondering where the nearest vendor was.

C'tari wandered a bit more and saw a familiar face, someone he hadn't seen since the candidate lessons... what was his name though... Lemur?

L'mur Feronamth corrected. And then to the greenrider, Hello again. The bronze froud speaking to this other human quite a fun game.

Oh, that's right he impressed green. He responded to his dragon. C'tari did a bit of a shiver. He was always a bit worried about Feronamth flying greens. Then he saw another familiar face, though he was sure she didn't know him. The female brown rider. Hello hello! Everyone enjoying themselves? He pretended to play the host, knowing full well everyone knew he was not. But the good wine he had had earlier was barring him from behaving more civilized. Rinfala, I am glad to finally meet you! And L'mur! We have not spoken in some time, congradulations, your green is a beautiful thing, I saw her and all the weyrlings during your lessons. He looked to the girl with the bronze fire lizard on her shoulder. And low, who is this who carries such a nice little bronze, just like my Feronamth, only fewer scars.
