"Excellent. Might I persuade you to lend me a bit of your expertise? I'm woefully short on weaponry," William said as the banging and crashing became more pronounced. He silently hoped she hadn't seen his less-than-manly maneuver. He cast aside that thought and continued his mental calculations. His flawless memory was now imprinted with a new design, intended to incorporate variable weapon mounts on Brazen's strongest structural points.

"Maybe...It depends." Amy replied, albeit a little smugly. She was secretly glad someone was taking an interest in her skills.
"Ahhh, Ah didnae expect that tae happen." Raphael commented quietly to himself. Now he had to wield his weapon with the left hand, which wasn't all that bad. But he preferred the right.
" 'Guess it's hand-to-hand now!" Erick rushed Jay forward, brandishing the remaining part of the morning star.
"Not quite, Erick." Raphael called back as the spire and hilt part smacked together. They exchanged minor blows until he swatted Jay's arm aside and leveled the spire at Erick. " 'Right, want tae call it then?" Then he heard a loud metallic clicking sound of Jay's pistol.
"A tie? No way."
"Fine, how about Ah make lunch then?"
"Really?" Erick looked at his friend hopefully, seeing him nod. "Sweet!"

"Very well. I'll have to draw out a few things and let you look them over. You'll be paid handsomely, of course. I'll even use real bank notes, this time," he said with a smile. In the meantime, he wanted to test out the abilities of the reconstructed Brazen. Before Erick stepped down out of his Walker, William was on the battlefield, Nordenfelt loaded and aimed at Jay Gundam.

"Oh really...?" Erick groaned aloud, dropping his face into his palm when he saw William come out. "I really wanted lunch."
Raphael laughed, bringing Fatum into the hangar for Amy to work on. It's right hand, he saw after taking it out of the spikes, wasn't in bad condition at all. "Oh, come on. He needs th' practice, anyways. Ah'll take ye out drinkin' after lunch or so..."
"Agh, fine! You got me there." Erick picked up the other part of the morning star before proceeding to do a "quick fix".
"Erick..." Amy called out uncertainly. "Erick. What're you doing? Don't tell me--No! No, don't do that! Hey!"
Raphael quickly covered his ears firmly with both hands but the sound still got through.
Krr--screeee--crunch! Erick bent both parts of the broken chain back together to make it whole again. "Don't worry, sis! I'll unbend it later!" He swung the chain gingerly so it wouldn't break so quickly again. He was silently embarrassed as Amy began to swear at him for meshing it together, claiming it'd take forever for her to fix it up, though in reality it wouldn't be so long.

William beamed at the man for accepting the challenge, and began a slow circle around Erick's machine. The oddly-jointed legs of Brazen Gundam were difficult to maneuver, but William had long-ago mastered them. His machine was quite vulnerable to heavy weaponry, due to the thin, sparse armor. But William had only sacrificed shielding to gain speed. He was fully confident that he could evade the heavy ball-and-chain.

Raphael grinned to himself, hopping down nimbly and heading into the kitchen. "Ah'll just start then...Ye two have fun!"
Erick gave a good-natured thumbs up to the gray haired young man. "Now, I bet you're wondering what a little birdie like Jay can do with something sooo heavy..." He often referred to his Walker as a "bird", mainly because of the size and color. The other Guards laughed at him for that...Until he beat them. He kept his eyes on the feet of Brazen Gundam the whole time he spoke, holding the morning star a little more aloft in the air. "The answer is: A lot." He launched the spiked ball at an angle to the ground near William's machine's feet.

With the designs he had conceived safely files away, with Aishe out of sight and mind, and with his rough plans for the Empire on hold, William was all business. He would prove himself to these people if it killed him. His keen eyes saw the scaled-up twitch in Jay's hydraulics. His mind instantly analyzed the visible workings of the Walker, interpreted the meaning of the movement and the effect it would have on the machine as a whole. The result of this quick calculation? William knew exactly where the ball would go. He quickly dodged out of the way, making use of the springy legs of his Walker to recover quickly and sprint towards Jay Gundam. For that moment, William was the most confident man on Earth. As long as he wasn't blatantly losing the fight, his morale couldn't be overcome.

"I think I'm going to regret this..." Amy muttered under her breath, having stayed to continue watching.
Every thing aside, Erick had to admit that the guy was fairly good. Not many people reacted so quickly to his weapon's movements. In truth, only two people. Excluding him. He did a series of hop-skips backwards, tugging lightly to the chain so the spiked ball bounced along towards him. Then he darted off to the side suddenly as Brazen came fairly close, yanking forcefully on the chain to catch the feet and possibly trip him.

William saw the chain snap in his direction, but circumstances and environment would prevent him from dodging it this time. He positioned his arms to catch himself and minimize damage just as the links pulled his feet out from under him. He landed hard, and made a Gundam-shaped dent in the soft ground. From this position, he fired four shots from the Nordenfelt, hoping that it would buy him enough time to get up and back into position.

Erick felt the chain pull taut when he tried to retrieve the spiked ball. Apparently it was stuck. He brought his arm up in time to catch one of the shots from the Nordenfelt and the other hit the lower torso area of Jay. Hopefully those weren't too major of hits. He switched the morning star to the left hand and took out the standard Royal Guard gun to point at Brazen. "You know, for a second there, I thought you were going to jump over the chain. Guess not."

"Would have, if I could have. It was too late, and unavoidable," William offered in explanation, standing tall once again. He chambered rounds into all four barrels again, and moved to aim a little more precisely. Two for the right knee, to hopefully bring Jay down and throw off its aim. One for the pistol arm, in case the knees didn't buckle, and one for the shoulder joint...or, rather...where the shoulder would be, if the knee collapsed. William knew that Erick might dodge some, or even all, of the slugs, but he decided it was worth taking the shot. Once the fourth slug was in the air, William immediately moved to follow up with another attack, if the first once succeeded.
((See that? Compromise! No autohits from me! lol we should show this to Strider.))
PostPosted: Wed May 26, 2010 4:35 pm

((Yeah! Lol. I just usually autohit him back anyway, 'specially with swords. Oh yesh, I got one of mah RL buddies to join this guild. Now to get her roleplaying...))

Erick dodged to the side, the shots aimed for the right knee just grazing the metal and throwing up sparks. The arm holding the gun was hit, weakening it almost significantly. The gun wasn't really like a pistol at all. More like a one shot rifle, but with more rounds. He fired three times, not actually aiming well, before darting in closer to jab with the bayonet at the end.
"This is going to be fun repairing..." Amy said, speaking to herself.

((You know, I realize that Marie from ACAM was a bit on the OP side...but it was a necessary evil. Someone had to out-ridiculous Strider, right? lol He does go over the edge sometimes...but I liked RPing with him. I hope we see him on here again soon.))
William saw that the rounds weren't really intended to hit him, so he didn't bother to dodge them. However, just as they sailed by him, the Guardsman's machine closed the gap between them to stab at Brazen with the blade on the end of his small rifle. He could dodge it, probably, but then he would waste the opportunity to counterattack. So he planted Brazen's feet in the ground firmly, and thrust its palm outward, in hopes of stopping the bayonet short. Brazen's arms were longer than Jay's, but William was unsure of their physical integrity. They might not stop the other machine. Deciding to risk it, William stayed where he was.
PostPosted: Wed May 26, 2010 7:46 pm

((Pssh, you're telling me. You should see him RP with his OC's. It's crazy, lol. I hope he comes back sometime during the summer, the RP that we're multi-charring through will probably die. But, I guess he'll get back into it when he wants to. =| ))

Erick made to rush Brazen, but skidded to a stop in front of it instead. He reversed the rifle so the butt end was aimed instead of the barrel, jabbing forward with it, simultaneously pulling on the still on-the-ground morning star's chain towards the back of Brazen's legs. "C'mon, how about we call it? I haven't eaten anything but the mess hall's dinner last night, and it's not the best cooking. And the apple..." He tried not to sound whiny while calling to William, but the loud growling of his stomach proved his point. "Wait...What did I do with the apple core...?"

William exhaled sharply. He wanted to at least finish this fight.
"Fair enough. I think I have your measure, now, anyway." With that, he maneuvered the machine back into the spacious building and climbed down. Spotting Raphael inside, he ran over to him, looking at the pocketwatch as he did so. He snapped it shut just in time to prevent running into anything, and spoke to Raphael.
"Well, how was I? Think I've got what it takes to lead the coup?"
