I am not the best, but I am considered one of the best in my band. Im first chair for clarinet, but the guy in second chair is better than me, but we both play first clarinet music. I don't know why I was put on first and I never bothered to ask.

Admitting that would make me seem concited. Something I can't stand in people, along with hipocracy. Which would make me guilty of both.
Anyway. In high school, my band director did place me on first part all four years, piccolo for junor and senior years, and section leader junior and senior years. He didn't compliment me often but when he did, it was worth the wait.
In college, I am the best in my section. I can admit that because I'm the only one. Woo. And as scary as that was last season, I don't think I want it to change this time around.

I was in 6th grade, I wasn't the best, I was best out of the flutes in both of my Advanced Band and All Star Band. But I never knew if I was the best.

Im first chair because i show a better attitude and i show up for more stuff than anybody else. Plus all the other trumpets are self rightoues assholes.

Unonamous I just wanted to know how many people are going to the same thing I'm going through.Everyone complimenting you, always telling you you're the best and your band directors always expecting more out of you. I mean I'm only a freshman I've not had as much musical experience as much as the only trumpets in my section. oh god I know crying I used to be dead last and now that the seniors are off to collage and the only senior this year is in color gaurd that makes me the first right guide for crying out loud! the other people in my grade don't try anymore and its all on my shoulders to play out and help the under class men! I'm scared stiff to be honest this means I have to do all the solos and such! I know it's mean and stuff but I really hope that Senior gets kicked out of color gaurd. sweatdrop if not I'll have stomach ulsers before I'm 18 emo

I was the best once. Until the I forgot to go to one lesson. The next lesson there was this one guy that went up to advanced. I was really shocked. Now I'm one of the best.

I'm principle bassoonist but that doesn't matter much when there are only two of us and the other guy's a freshman while I'm a junior... >_> Yea, lots of pressure cuz I had only played it for a year and everyone was like, "Cool!!! We've never had a bassoon before!! You're really good!!!" before the other guy came up... ...Did I mention how much I hate playing those solo's??? I'm so lucky that the base clarinet covers me most of the time...

I was 2nd best in Middle school, but I'm not sure how good our highschool band will be since I'm starting in a different district

*sigh* im a junior, and for the past 2 years ive been the best in my section. i play sax, and im not the fastest as far as tounging, but i can move my fingers far more quickly than anyone else in the section, if not the whole band.

Yeah.
I'm first chair and Section Leader on Trombone.
However this year were now a section of four(The others quit/graduated)
So thats not saying much.
