Ask not for whom the bell tolls...
мøιįиД [єи†øмβєÐ βєιι†øωєя]
Molina leaned back and spread her arms wide, claws curled as she roared at the heavens, then resumed her slow, steady march toward the castle. Rei's Fenrir attack struck first, and though the flesh of her arm roiled and writhed, nothing seemed to happen.
Verrine, however, caused her to stop, growling and waving her massive arms at the dark fog. Her jaw swung down open, gaping, then closed again, then opened as she howled at the fog, shifting, stepping aside, trying to escape it, but seemed to regard it as more of a nuisance than a danger. The arrival of Rhys' Antaram seemed only to infuriate her more, and the glowing light disappeared into the swirling fog around her head as she staggered back and forth, crushing homes and businesses.
There was an arcane explosion, then implosion as the fog spread out, and Molina stood still.
The fog slowly cleared, with a bright glow at the center, and Molina stood, enraged, with all her hundreds of eyes focused on the spellcasters. The bell above her head glowed like the sun, shining light and burning darkness flickering through the crack in its side as Molina swayed back, shouting a roar at her attackers, "SHUUUUUUUUP," she snarled, swinging her arms back, and then she leaned forward, bending at what one might tentatively call her knees and slamming her massive claws down into a couple of houses as she roared again.
"DAH WUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP," echoed, gurgling and slurred, throughout the city, and suddenly that bell swung forward and a beam of both holy and unholy light erupted from it, striking the ground in front of Molina and then coursing upward, tearing through buildings and annihilating wood, stone, and steel on its course toward Rei and, beyond him, Rhys.
And Abel was there.
... It tolls for thee.

It hit, it hit, the attack hit! And all three of them, no less! Rei stifled a cheer as he saw the monster thrash about. The way it shooed away the fog, it looked like that fog wasn't doing anything more than add a showy effect to the attack. Acidic or otherwise damaging fog would have been so useful, too...
But those eyes, those endless eyes, they were rather chilling, really. The Druid suppressed a shudder as he saw them all glare down upon both his comrades and himself. And then, the creature began to... to bend over? Rei scoffed, surprised that it actually had the structure to do so. Buildings didn't have knees, after all. The roar, though, almost sounded like an inhalation, to Rei. It clearly made him uneasy, as if the eyes didn't do that on their own. It made his muscles tense, his body prepared to spring into another attack at a moment's notice.
The retaliating roar was, somewhat expectantly, accompanied by an attack. However, the giant laser beam was anything but expected. It was, though, slow enough to predict! Rei watched in slight horror as it tore through houses of all sorts of materials as it shot... directly towards him. Great. It couldn't just try to smash him with it's arms, or something?
Rei only dashed to the side, going slightly down a small alleyway, to avoid the blast. The beam shot down the street, the familiar sound of energy crackles echoing in his ears as it disappeared from his sight. Without stopping for a moment, Rei was already rushing back out of the alleyway, Verrine open once more. His incantation was soft, nearly inaudible, but still effective.
The spell began once more, positioning itself at the bell, just like before. Fog started to form around the bell, accompanied by surrounding sigils. And again, small streams of red began to focus themselves on the fog, and boom, another explosion. Really, it's the same as the past casting of the spell.

The giant laser beam was not very reassuring, but indeed slow--Rhys had more than ample time to follow Rei down the alley. The heck? Did--did that thing shoot back at us? That's new, I never heard Renault mention THAT attack, last time he did it that bell amplified the magic to the point where the monster exploded...
So how, then, did the monster cause that attack?
He looked back at Rei, but already the Druid was focusing another attack on the bell. But Rhys wasn't so quick to attack the same spot twice.
The attack came out of the bell... I thought I saw some energy building up in there...
Rhys watched the fog forming once more around the bell.
...But it wasn't there BEFORE we hit it...
"...That's right... I saw energy building up inside the bell..."
He looked up, but couldn't really see the bell itself any longer.
"Was there a crack in the bell last time anyone fought this thing?" He asked to anybody who would listen. "What if--what if the crack is collecting the magic? It doesn't do us any good to cast if the bell's just spitting it all back at us!"
But if the bell crack is filled up by either Rei's Erebus or my Illusion, will the effect then be the same as last go-round?

Now I'm stuck here But I don't belong here ~Ninian~Food search party? Ninian thought, trying to remember the events of the previous winter. Hadn't there been some kind of snowstorm that left a good bit of FEF stranded? So they had to send out search parties for firewood and food. That was right. Ninian hadn't gone with those search parties, but she figured that somewhere during that time, this monster must have attacked the food party, which Nils had been a part of.
"Well, if it has been defeated once before, then sure it can be defeated again!"Ninian said, stepping forward.
I wish I'd thought to bring Briseschal with me today, she thought, temporarily regretting leaving it in her room in the castle. No point worrying about that now. She ran towards Rhys; if Nils was already playing for Rei, she would do better to dance for the Bishop.
Of course the monster picked that moment to attack. Everyone quickly moved to get out of the way before the blast tore right through them, as it did several buildings. Almost immediately, Rei moved to attack again. Obviously, the Druid had fought this--thing before. Rhys, however, hesitated, muttering something Ninian couldn't hear over the explosion of Rei's spell and the general chaos that happens in the midst of battle.
Ninian moved towards Rhys, intending to dance for the Bishop and at least do something.
"Was there a crack in the bell last time anyone fought this thing?" Rhys suddenly asked. "What if--what if the crack is collecting the magic? It doesn't do us any good to cast if the bell's just spitting it all back at us!"
Ninian froze. "That crack in the bell formed just now, when it rang," she told the Bishop. But what were they to do if their magic was useless? The chances of a Bishop, a Bard, a Druid, and a Dancer defeating a creature that was either extremely resistant to or completely immune to magic, or else able to absorb it were slim to none. "What should we do?" she wondered aloud. "If we can't hit it with magic. . . ." I wanna be where you are Maybe I'm not so far from home

Clara gasped a bit as she saw the magic come back at the 2 casters. She moved out of the line of fire.
"Was there a crack in the bell last time anyone fought this thing?" The orange haired guy asked "What if--what if the crack is collecting the magic? It doesn't do us any good to cast if the bell's just spitting it all back at us!"
"Well if magic doesn't work," Clara stated, "Then we got to use brute force. Though I will admit how will someone with a sword like me get up there? I am fast but I'm not sure I'm fast or even worse strong enough to get up there." She frowned a bit. "And even if I get up, how can I destroy that bell?"

We're part of a story, part of a tale... ... Sometimes beautiful, sometimes insane... ♫ ◄NILS► ♫ ◘══════════◘ (( Argh, crap post. o_e Ankle... throbbing... ow. )) Nils listened carefully to the people around him, willing himself not to panic. Still, his throat was clenching. How could they hope to defeat this... this reincarnation of sorts if the spells that they used to attack it were getting shot back? He heard a voice mention using brute force instead, but how? Ninian, for all he knew, couldn't fight, and both Rei and Rhys were not physically offensive people. The sword-wielder with them, as she mentioned, would not be able to attack the bell.
There were only two courses of action the bard could think of at this point. Resting his palm over his dragon stone, he turned to nomad trooper. "Do you think you're able to hit that bell, Sue?"
◘══════════════════◘ ... No one remembers how it began...

I shall now demonstrate the law of Sacae... all our tribesman banding together against our invaders!~)Sue(~ The display of Rei's magic could be described as... well... flashy. Very flashy. Sue, not being one with magical talents always thought that spell users showed off on purpose, just because they could. They would make whatever elements were in the tomes do extraordinary things, but most of the time it was all for the sake of showmanship. It wasn't out of Rei's normal character to be show either, he loved being able to cast the magic he spent so much time locked up on his study to learn. And that was true for any person who mastered any weapon, they loved to test what they were learning and make it fun too.
The problem was that the show didn't do much of anything to the... thing that was attacking Eyris. When Rei and Rhys showed off their respective spells and made what would be considered quite the fantastic spell animation, Molina only got more angry and was firin' the lazor! The Nomad Trooper cringed, and was careful not to get in the path as the both holy and unholy light scathed through buildings, trees, and the cobblestones of the Eyris road. Thankfully, it missed the targets of the shota Druid and the Bishop. With magic ruled out as a possibility, there was only...
Yes, the myrmidon closeby said it! There was only the power of weapons that could bring down that monster. It was good there were at least two of them in the group to put up a decent fight. Although Sue didn't have Miugre with her (it was being Hammerned at the moment), she still had the short bow that she made with her own two hands. Nils asked her the question that was like a challenge to the nomad. Could she hit the bell?
"I think so." replied the tribeswoman, taking aim and making Andre trot ever slowly forward as to not provoke the creature. "Right now I have a clear shot, and nothing's in my way. Just don't make any sudden sounds or movements, everyone..."
She didn't know how effective it was going to be, since the short bow was by no means sacred except for nomadic tradition. Who said that one had to have some blessed relic to win a battle though? Pushing the issue that the arrows from the short bow wouldn't be, by Learania weapon standards "S-ranked", the nomad pulled back an arrow quickly and released it towards the cracked bell. She watched it soar, certain that it would hit its target.~)Nomad Trooper(~ You who harm the defenseless will pay at the ends of >>-arrows-> and 0=|IswordsI>

This entire time, Ephraim had remained quiet..kind of back in the shadows. However he was well aware of his surroundings and others must have spotted him as well. Though in this situation, there really wasn't much a close range user like him could do. During the first wave of attack, few rounds of magic that were suddenly deflected. That didn't do much..Other suggested the bell, but how were they going to hit it anyhow? Surely it would be too much for Sue and one arrow surely would not be enough to destroy the thing.
If he and the myrmidon somehow got close, chances of them getting smacked or worse are likely to happen. The arrow was released in the middle of Ephraim's thinking, having it hit the bell however, was another story. The only thing anyone could do at the moment was pray that it did any amount of damage.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls...
мøιįиД [єи†øмβєÐ βєιι†øωєя]
A long, low hum sang in the air as Molina righted herself again after Rei's second attack. The bell itself had once again absorbed his magic, but was apparently simply storing the power as Molina once more began to march forward, occasionally swinging one arm forward and letting the elastic nature of her body extend the appendage, slamming claws into the ground, grabbing whomever was too slow to get out of the way and lifting them back up to drop them, along with the timber and paving stones she picked up, into her gaping, toothy maw.
The bell continued to hum, vibrating above Molina between the massive gongs that echoed with each step. After Rei and Rhys had both attacked, before the beam was fired, the vibrations had been much stronger... hell, if it vibrated hard enough, it might even shake loose from the tower, which at the very least would probably make the fight much easier.
All around Molina, people were at last taking the hint and evacuating their homes, rushing toward the opposite end of the city, surging through the city gates to wait out the trouble until, as always, FEF could rescue them.
Unfortunately, the bell was a bit high up for a shortbow. The arrow fell short and punctured one of Molina's larger and more sensitive eyes. She bellowed a roar of, if not pain, then certainly disapproval, and every eye on her body turned, suddenly, to Sue. Quickly, most began roving again, but the ones on Molina's face, at least, stayed centered on the nomad as Molina turned and began to move-- much like a glacier, slow but unstoppable-- toward her.
... It tolls for thee.

Uh oh! It's coming this way! What do I do? Magic won't work, and arrows can't reach...!
Molina continued its inexorable march in their direction, clearly intent on anything but throwing them a tea party.
Ah... ahh...!
Rhys hadn't thought about the bell vibrating or shaking loose--it was hard to notice that sort of movement when it was so far away. Besides, when a giant monster about to gobble you up is moving your way, you tend to focus less on the little things.
But he DID know that the first time it was hit by so many spells, the monster stopped to fire. Making it stop again might cause more damage, but it would buy them (and the rest of the town) more time to devise a proper way to defeat it.
His amber eyes gazed up at Molina, giving the bell in particular a determined glare. (For its part, the bell gave back a determined BONG.)
"Thousand petals! Blowing... swirling, eternally! ANTARAM!"
He couldn't worry about making the monster counter, not right now. They'd just do it to buy time, right? In any case, between Ninian's dancing and the Host Club members (not to mention his own life) in peril, Rhys' spell was amplified--the petals seemed more swift, more certain of their ultimate goal, swirling around Molina with greater urgency.

I shall now demonstrate the law of Sacae... all our tribesman banding together against our invaders!~)Sue(~ Her arrow missed the target completely falling short of the bell, and flew off into the monster's eye. Sue couldn't believe that she aimed so carefully, only for the shot to not only miss the bell, but to look like she didn't even aim it at all! The nomad would have expressed her disappointment quite vocally if she didn't see the monster-tower coming towards her at a menacing pace. It was just like the types of magic that homed in on people... the monster was seeking Sue out as a target, and that made fear well up inside her heart. She felt herself tug Andre's reigns ever slightly, sending him racing to escape...
Sue didn't know how far or how fast the horse would have to go in order to get away from that...thing. She stopped dead in her tracks though, right beside her comrade, Rhys as he was casting the spell of petals, Antaram. He knew that magic didn't affect it, so maybe the Bishop was giving Sue the time she needed to regroup with the others after being so bold (and kind of foolish) to assault the monster on her own. At the corner of her eye, she noticed another person that she knew.
Ephraim. He was a lancer amongst FEF, noble, strong, kind and... special to Kishuna. Now that she remembered seeing them kiss at the party in front of Amara, Sue couldn't look at either Ephraim or Kishuna without thinking about that scene that changed the way she looked at the two of them. A Prince and a... morph. That was a match made in a land where strange things happened, and at the moment, Sue couldn't, or rather, refused to think of the name of it.
"And this isn't the best time to think about weird things!" Sue reminded herself, shaking her head to regain her composure. Calm words were spoken from her, directed towards Ephraim. "Is Kishuna nearby too? We need everyone we can to help... I can imagine that creature is only made of magic. If Kishuna could seal it..." Of course, it was only a suggestion. Sue hadn't met this thing face-to-face, wherever its real face was before today. She didn't know much about it, and the real thing was far beyond her imagination she got while reading some of Learania's infamous archives she missed out on.~)Nomad Trooper(~ You who harm the defenseless will pay at the ends of >>-arrows-> and 0=|IswordsI>

From the spot Ziaram had been at, which had been around the Hostess Club, he looked towards the towering...beast he guessed, and of course all hell had boken out. Bringing his light brand out, he noted that Sue had sent an arrow up for the bell...was the bell the weak point? Anywho, this angered the beast, so Ziaram shot off towards Sue, with only his Light Brand in hand. Need to think straight here...no mistakes.
Although others were already on the scene, Ziaram figured that he could help out...in some way or shape. With his Light Brand he could do damage from afar possibly, and with the looks of it there were not that many ranged fighters. "Well better than nothing."

Everything had gone by so fast Ephraim didn't even have a chance to make a move. This creature had suddenly gone and charged toward Sue. The lancer couldn't move, more specifically, he didn't even see the monster move until Rhys had shot an Antaram toward the monster. Crap, what could he even do at this moment? Had he brought a Javelin or a short spear, he could attack from a distance, but as of now Ephraim was forced to sit out and think of something.
Sue turned her attention to the prince, asking if Kishuna was near. Honestly, the morph wasn't...and Ephraim didn't even know if he would come to this battle in the first place "I'm sorry but..he isn't...I am not sure if he would come if I called him anyhow" He paused, wondering if Sue desperately needed him here..or more help for that matter...wait..wasn't Ciela near by? Perhaps he could put that wolf to some use and send her to fetch the lazy morph that apparantly didn't really give a damn unless the lancer himself was involved.
He brought two fingers to his lips, making a quick whistle to call for his little wolf partner. Hearing the call, Ciela appeared shortly after. Ephraim whispered something in her ear and the animal dashed off in a heart beat. His only problem was if the message would get to the morph or not.

"..... Ugh, work? Half of the point of staying back here was to stay out of the conflict... I'm completely useless in battle this body isn't made for that." The morph glared down at himself for a moment; honestly, sometimes he wished that Renault had created this form with a little more actual muscle, rather than simply the semblance of it. It couldn't be helped, though. His skills were his skills, and those were the skills he would have to deal with. After a moment, the morph reached down and ruffled the wolf's fur between her ears; Ciala seemed quite agreeable to this, sitting back on her haunches, tongue lolling out in a silly grin.
Well, to be honest, if it had been a request from anyone else he would have ignored them. But, this was someone he couldn't ignore. So with a sigh, Kishuna reached out to grab his cloak, gathering it about him. Then, with a flash he was gone, crimson light flashing through an unknown region to appear further away; in a spot that he found rather unsafe. After all, there was this.... THING, towering over him, staring down at him with hundreds and hundreds of eyes, or maybe it was staring somewhere else. For ******** sake, he didn't know, and he really didn't care. His movements were fast. Very fast. In the opposite direction, dragging Ciela with him. No way he was letting this thing get him.
Of course, the morph really didn't make it very far before bumping into something. That something happened to be Sue and her horse; the latter didn't seem very pleased with him. Kishuna spent a few moments staring at them; his mind didn't seem to be able to grasp the concept that there were actually other people here, fighting this.... demon. But after a moment the idea sank in, and the morph's face fell. ".... THIS is what you were talking about?" he asked incredulously, to nobody in particular. "The ******** am I supposed to do about THAT thing?! I can't negate magic in any sort of large area anymore..." He'd been able to do that once, he remembered. Or thought he remembered. But that had been forever ago, before Renault had changed his body.
His eyes flicked up the thing; and he suddenly found that he knew its name was Molina. That shining bell at the top.... that was from where Renault had used his magic to destroy the creature for the first time. The morph spent a few moments wondering how he knew this. He hadn't been in Learania yet when this had originally attacked.... odd, this almost seemed like deja vu. Like he'd fought this before or something. But of course he hadn't done anything of the sort. He shook the thought from his mind, though, and glared around him. "So, what, I just... run up there and punch it or something? I can't negate anything larger than maybe a regular Sage...."
