Gabriel smiled at Uriel and shrugged, still holding Abel back. "I wish I could have kept it a long time. A shame I had to look at you once again. Hard to bare." He said in that smooth, but some-what monotone voice. When Talen called out to him he raised his brows at the man like he was crazy...which he supposed almost everyone within his vicinity was in some rhyme or reason.
As Talen was let go, Mei instantly moved to him. She leaned over and put a hand on top of his head. "I'm sorry..." She whispered, feeling utterly useless. Her gaze moved up when Cain was retrieved and the four demons headed away. There was nothing she could do. She'd rather have Talen safe than try to keep those demons that Abel had so fondly been sticking up for.
Gabriel looked down at Abel who was glaring at Mei. He had the sense if he let go of the angel that he'd jump at the woman for touching Talen. He pulled him back more and spoke to him gently. "Listen to me, Abel. They're gone. You have nothing to worry about, Talen is safe."
Mei knelt down and looked at Talen's neck. She ran her thumb along the blood that was forming from the cut and she brought it to her mouth. At that moment Abel's struggled started again, he yelled something at Mei angrily. Gabriel pressed a hand against the angel's forehead and he went limp.
Gabriel let Abel fall to the ground, the light emitting from him having completely vanished. Now only Abel's normal body lay on the sidewalk, cut and bruised, but not dangerous or wild. Gabriel left him there and went over to Mei and Talen.
"I was busy." Gabriel answered before Mei could form her angry ******** you. That's not an excuse...you." She spat at him, eyes blazing with frustration and humiliation. She licked some remaining blood from her thumb and she narrowed her eyes at the tall angel. "Did you enjoy the show? That's what you like, huh? Watching me feel useless and not being able to do a damned thing. You only came when Talen was about to get seriously hurt, or WORSE! Abel was about to mutilate me!" She screamed angrily. When Gabriel grabbed her shoulders she continued to shout. "I don't understand you! I've tried so hard to understand you and especially understand Abel's crazy a**, but no one lets me!"
"Mei!" Gabriel suddenly shouted and Mei grew quiet. Whenever Gabriel raised his voice even slightly...it was a rare occasion. "Just shut up. For ONCE just stop talking. Okay? I was BUSY. Don't put this blame on me, like you always do. Just because I am responsible for Abel doesn't mean every little thing he does is MY fault. I had no idea he was going to snap."
"No idea? You're GABRIEL what the-"
"Shut up. I told you. Just LISTEN. Even I make mistakes. I'm not perfect. You've made so many mistakes in your life and now that you can't even start to THINK that I am perfect. Don't be a hypocrite. Now you settle down and we'll get Abel somewhere safe and..." He trailed off as he heard Abel groan. Letting go of Mei he turned and watched Abel sit up, rubbing at his head.

((HERE WE GO NOW... HM. I should be doing readings for my classes... hahaha. geesh. Reading. That's crazy.))
Talen seemed to lose all his anger and rage when Mei touched the top of his head. His face smoothed out and he turned his eyes onto her. He furrowed his brows and shook his head. He seemed more sorry than she did. He put his hands to his throat and slumped in a slightly defeated way.
He then looked back up to Abel, a strangely hurt expression on his face. It only left him when Mei touched a hand to his wound. He flinched away, and grasped her other hand tightly in both of his, eyes confused.
"What..." He started, and then jerked his eyes at Abel. He clutched Mei's hand more tightly, but quickly had to let her go as Gabriel came closer. He could only watch as the pair of angels argued, only then, Mei wasn't exactly what she appeared to be after all.
"Guys..." Talen said faintly. He sounded tired and half hearted in his attempts to quell their argument.
When Abel stirred Talen was quite quickly on his feet. Saul, however, was there at his side first. Talen knelt on his other sider, Saul watching him with a carefully concealed expression.
Talen nodded at his friend and then looked down to Abel. "Hey." He said softly, sounding winded. His smile was crooked. He seemed unsure if he should touch him, and he didn't.

((Hahahaha I am so glad I don't have to do any reading this semester. I had ENOUGH last semester! But this semester I get to do projects instead...eh.))
Abel's lifted himself up from the ground, hand to his head as it pounded painfully. He felt weak and light-headed. When he opened his eyes everything was dark and he felt panic rise in his throat. "I...I can't see anything!" He yelled out and closed his eyes. When he opened them again he could make out the others around him and his panic washed away. He gave out a weak laugh. "Oh..." He said nervously and then seemed taken back when Talen and Saul hurried over to him.
The last thing he remembered was seeing that figure at the end of the street. It was if he had waken up from a heavy sleep. Everything felt somewhat hazy and his body was tired. His blue eyes shifted to Talen as he spoke and he frowned, noticing the look in his friend's eyes. "Um...hi?" He looked around and noticed Mei and Gabriel, side by side, staring at him with the same slightly unsure and protective look. They weren't being protective over him though it seemed.
This made Abel uneasy as well. His eyes darkened and he tried to stand but winced and fell into a sitting position. "Ow..." He mumbled and rubbed at his back where his wings had once been. He could still feel the pain of them being torn and scratched. "Where's Lilith?" He finally asked, ignoring his pain. He hoped he had just fainted because he hadn't eaten much this morning...or any day he had been back. "...And why are you two here?" He asked Gabriel and Mei. "You said you were busy today..." He mentioned to Gabriel who shrugged.
"Uh..." He looked down at his bare chest, seeing scratches, burns, and bruises. "Where's my shirt?" He asked, as if that was more important than where the wounds had come from. His eyes drifted back to Talen and he stared at him for a long time, trying to find something there to explain where his shirt had gone, and more importantly, why he was on the ground with wounds all over him.
Slowly he felt heavier and heavier and he quickly looked away, getting more worried and more concerned. "Where's Lilith?" He asked again, moving and attempting to stand up.
((Lalala. I have NO work to do today and it feels so good!))

((PHEW. Alright. Let's try this again. Haha, I've been working on homework like crazy... but I got a bit of a lull in stuff at the moment. SO HERE IT IS.))
Saul and Talen weren't quite sure what they should tell Abel. They both knew the truth wasn't it, not now. They couldn't possibly tell him what had happened so quickly. Abel was always so sensitive, and imparting what he'd done, though it hadn't been him had it? To tell him what terrible being he'd become... well, Talen wasn't sure what that would do to Abel. Saul seemed quite positive, and by the way he merely shook his head at Talen, that it would undo the angel completely.
And if anyone would know better about such things, Saul would know.
However, after is question again of where Lilith was once again Saul stood and had to move away. He was running his hands through his hair, back to everyone.
Talen looked after his friend and then looked back at Abel. That was his mistake. Catching his friend's eyes. Even after Abel had to drop his gaze Talen was still gazing steadily at his friend. He couldn't possibly tell him any lies. He had a rigt to know.
"Lilith's gone."
"Cain is dead." Saul said. His back was still turned.
Talen looked up and looked on with disbelief, a touch of panic in his eyes. "How could you-"
"Dead." Saul repeated. "There's no way..." He turned back to Abel, and there was no way he couldn't see the accusing look in his eyes. "Maybe you shouldn't be here."
((Ouch.))

((Haha I understand. I only have three weeks left of classes until finals week begins. Scary stuff. D: So much to do in so little time.))
Abel's gaze moved to Saul when the young man stood up and turned around. He remained quiet when no one would answer him. His brows furrowed and he finally stood up completely and waited for some one to respond. What answer came wasn't what he expect.
His mouth opened as he stared at Saul's back. "What? No. He can't die...he's already..." He paused and looked over at Mei who nodded briefly. "Right?"
"Technically, yes. He's dead, has been for a while. But death can mean different things I guess, death can just be suffering...not just...losing physicality." She was about to continued try to explain the fact that Cain couldn't die, but worse things have happened, when Gabriel put a hand on her shoulder.
"Take Abel to get some clothes. Otherwise he's going to get sick." He said plainly. "Talen, you can go with them if you want..." He left it open for Talen as to either go with Abel and Mei or stay and listen to what Gabriel had to say to Saul.
Mei frowned before walking over to Abel. The angel looked at her, confusion blatant on his face, words on his lips but not quite forming. Reluctantly he let Mei grab his arm and tug him away. "You'll get a cold." Mei mumbled.
Abel smiled weakly and nodded. "Fine...but I still have questions."
"Which can wait until tomorrow, AFTER your birthday!" Mei declared and glared at him, determined.

((What? What is this? A POST? Let's. Do it. I can't promise you any consistency with my posts this summer, but WE ARE GOING TO FINISH THIS RP. THAT IS FOR SURE.
PS: I seriously need a scanner. Fo' real.))
Talen wanted very much to go with Mei and Abel. He was full of questions now, and wanted to be with the angel to give him what comfort he could, but something kept him with Saul. He caught his friend's gaze only once and just briefly, but it was enough to convince him to stay. Saul had that old look of self destruction in his eyes, the same look Talen used to see reflected in the mirror when he had been young.
Talen nodded once at Gabriel and moved beside Saul who though he seemed to move away, took some form of comfort in his presence. Saul's cool eyes were hard and steady on Gabriel's face.
"He's gone now. Go ahead. Say what you want." His voice was dry and toneless, but deeply hurt. "I stand by what I said. I don't think he should be here. He left for a reason... he should have stayed away for that reason. You saw him." He waved an arm for emphasis. "You SAW what he did as well as ANY of us."
Talen stayed silent. He didn't dare utter a word.
"What. The. Hell. Is he? No more secrets. We have a right to know what we are dealing with. I'm tired of this s**t. What is he?"
((hahaha, Saul being all demanding and s**t. WOO.))

((Uhhhh...I'm gonna edit this. ;p ))
When Abel and Mei had disappeared, Gabriel looked over to Saul. He understood the man's frustration and anger. He rubbed the back of his smooth head and tried to think of a simple way to explain everything. It was proving harder than he thought it should have been.
"We all kind of had big plans for Abel. Before he was born, a lot of us decided that it would be good to have someone, born human, to become a powerful asset after death. It sounds really selfish when I say it, but that's how it was. We figured if we had someone like that it'd be easier to sway the demons away from people, making our jobs easier, to guide them down the right path.
"So we gave that power to Abel. As a human he had what you'd call psychic gifts, foresight, sixth sense, all that stuff. What we weren't planning on was for his life to be so...messed up. His family wasn't keen on his abilities and they also weren't keen on having a male heir who was so susceptible to illnesses and not to mention the fact he was weak willed. There were a lot of aspects that caused Abel to become broken. He didn't have love or many friends. An outcast of sorts, despite his family background."
Gabriel paused and looked away, frowning. "I am not the one to be giving away his life story, that's for him to decide what to tell people. But we'll just say he was torn. His heart was weak, both physically and spiritually. He wanted everyone to feel loved and wanted to help everyone, but he was too open to them. He allowed people to walk over him and use him.
"I was the one assigned to him, to make sure everything went okay. But I think you, Talen, understand this more than anyone, Abel's stubborn. I did my best to nudge him the right way and guide him but he refused my help. He didn't care about himself. He was worthless, according to him. I won't go into details...so let's just say at the end of his short life he was pretty much miserable."
With a heavy sigh he looked down. He seemed ashamed and guilty. "He didn't like himself, or care about his life. He committed suicide. We all know, or have heard, of the consequence of taking your life. It's simple, you're going to hell. Well I felt like a failure, and everyone else knew we had just given the demons a strong weapon. If they were able to turn him from his goodness, we'd be in big trouble. So I convinced everyone to pull him back up.
"It hadn't been done before, only half way done. Mei was the only one to be taken back. But she isn't one of us, she's still...one of them, just on our side. It's hard to explain. But with Abel, we made him one of us, when we did that, he's still...stained. Hell does things to you that not even I can say I understand. And it was worse because Abel is so...soft.
"I did what I thought I had to do, coach him, teach him. But he's still broken, still stubborn, and still Abel. And now he's starting to lose it. There's been a lot of stuff thrown on him, especially when Hans fell and started to work for the demons. Hans was one of Abel's best friends. I think that was the straw on the camel's back. He's starting to let everything overwhelm him. Because of that he doesn't have as much control over himself."
Gabriel looked up at Talen and Saul with a frown. "So to answer, simply, what Abel IS...he's an angel, with powers given to him by both sides. He's also Abel. We can't judge what he will do. I thought by being here he'd start to understand how much people worry about him, but he's too stubborn and closed up now. I'm just trying to keep some sort of hope he'll eventually open up a little and let people fix him. He needs fixing, no matter how much he refuses."
Then he was silent. He closed his eyes and stayed that way for a few minutes until he studied Talen. "I want you to know. If Abel loses it completely, the only thing left for us to do is to...kill him." He said the last part with a considerable amount of heaviness and pain. "It's a different thing to be killed after you're already dead. You're just...gone."
((OKAY. That was long and a lot of talking! xD Hahaha. Yup! ))

((HAHA. YOU EDITED? NAAA WHYYY? Fine. Fineeee. Ah well. HERE I GO POSTING AGAIN. CH'YEAH. This is super intense. SUPER. INTENSE.))
Saul may have been angry, and he had every right to be, but when Gabriel began to speak he was entirely silent and let him have his piece. It was hard to tell how he seemed to be taking the whole conversation, his face blank, cool and thoughtful. Talen was much the opposite of his friend. He seemed to struggle remaining silent. His feelings were clearly expressed on his face and when Gabriel had finally finished he was the first to speak.
He fell forward a step and shouted a foul word. His face was contorted with anger. Gabriel and him had not gotten along when they had first met, and it was things like this that were much the reason why they didn't get along at times.
"What the ********, Gabe!" Talen shouted. When he thought he would have to be attempting to control Saul, he was having a hard time controlling himself. He felt Saul's firm hand on his shoulder, but he threw it off, eyes over bright. "You... ******** this kid up! Aren't you guys supposed to be all seeing! You should have... YOU RUINED. THIS KID'S. LIFE!" He shouted in Gabriel's face.
Saul made no further attempts to hold Talen back. His eyes were hard, his mouth set.
"You AREN'T HUMAN, GABE! You're.... you're supposed to be made of better stuff! You NEED TO BE! You..." He shook his head, disgusted. "But I should know better. I've seen how you look at my sister." And he wouldn't have normally said it, but he was angry and tired and frustrated and wanted to make Gabriel hurt as much as he was hurting at the moment.
"Talen." Saul said.
"NO." Talen shouted, fists clenching and unclenching.
Saul gave Gabriel a look, however there was no sympathy there. "I'm out." He said. "I want nothing to do with any of this."
Talen looked up, surprised.
"Leah either. I don't want any of you..." He was glaring at Gabriel, "Not even a feather... anywhere near me. I'm sorry Leah even met Abel. If this is how this is going to be, if he has to die... I don't want anything to do with this." He threw his hands up in a yielding gesture. "This is too much."
"Saul you can't-"
"I don't want Leah getting anymore hurt than she already is. I can't DO THIS, TALEN." He suddenly shouted. Tears dripped off his chin. "Lilith...Cain... and now Abel too? I won't do this anymore. I can't."
And quietly he left. Talen remained where he was, face a picture of shock and grief.
((.... hahahaha, I didn't see it going that way, but apparently Saul is a bigger wimp than I thought he was.))

((Look! A fast post! ;D Hahaha...and I just woke up...;o ))
Gabriel remained still, even as Talen shouted at him. Everything he said to him was true, there was no point in arguing back. It was only when Saul spoke that Gabriel moved slightly. His darkened blue eyes watched Saul leave, knowing full well what he was doing was probably the best thing for him, to get away from it all.
When he was gone, Gabriel focused on Talen, not saying anything for a moment. "You're right." He finally spoke, his voice sounded extremely tired. "But we aren't all seeing. Only one is perfect, and we are merely trying to do what we can to protect His children. We can't comprehend what He has planned, but I have faith that He does everything for a reason." After a deep breath he shook his head. "I admit, I made a mistake. I shouldn't have gone through with it. But we weren't expecting things to turn out like they did. It's no excuse for our actions, this I understand, but our hopes were too high that it clouded our judgment."
"I take full blame for Abel's situation and I take full blame for the rest of you being messed into this. I let Abel come here too soon. I'm too attached to him. He's like a son to me, and as a father I've failed in guiding him properly. I've let myself become too human, when I wasn't meant to be." His brows furrowed and he rubbed the back of his neck. "I won't give up on Abel so soon. I don't want to lose him..." He grew quiet and checked his watch again.
"If you wish to follow in Saul's footsteps, don't feel obligated to stay with us. As for your sister..." He paused as if taking a minute to think of what he was to say. Suddenly he took a step back and his watch began beeping. "I have to go get Abel's birthday gift."
((That was actually harder to write than the previous one...cause Gabriel is such a p***k and won't show many emotions...))

((PSH. GABE. WHY? EHN. And hahahaa, sleeping in... I've actually been doing that hardcore when I don't have to wake up for work. That's so not like me.
I'm getting lazy. :d ))
Talen was still staring after his friend as Gabriel spoke. He closed his empty hands and crosses his arms tightly across his chest, not looking at the angel. He wanted to be angry still, because it was easier to be angry with Gabriel than to understand him on some level. He wanted to hate him, needed to hate him for what he'd done, but instead found himself frustrated at how simply his anger had vanished at Gabe's words.
He gave a deep and meaningful sigh and shaking his head turned to look back at Gabe. "Saul... it was right for him to leave... It's probably better if I did too." He rubbed at his head. "But I'm too stupid to do that." He shook his head and then shrugged. He seemed to perk up at the mention of his sister and opened his mouth to speak, but Gabriel, master of avoiding a subject had other plans.
"Oh yeah. His birthday. That's today." Talen gave a bitter laugh. "What a celebration it's been ALL day."

Gabriel shook his head and breathed out. "Yeah...it seems whenever we actually attempt to do something for him either he runs off for the day, or things happen to put everyone in a mood." He said and pulled out the keys to his car. "I can give you a ride to wherever you're going." He started to walk towards the street where his car apparently had been park the whole time, yet just now noticeable. It beeped once as the locks slid open and Gabriel pulled the door to the driver's side.
"By the way." The tall black man suddenly said, turning towards Talen. "Abel's gotten really attached to you. He wouldn't let anyone hurt you, even himself." He finally slid into the car.
"So. You want a ride or not?"

((Bah. Sorry for the delay. Some family drama went down. I've been back and forth and in and out and oooh man. This is the first relaxing day I've had in awhile. HERE GOES: ))
Talen raised his eyebrows at Gabriel's suddenly very conveniently placed car. He gave a low whistle.
"Still got style even after all that. Gabe, dude, you're the GUY." He laughed a little and slid into the front seat with a little shake of his head. "You gotta be beatin' ladies off for real. You are smooth. I got goose-bumps there for a second, but all joking aside: I should probably head back to my sister's place. I mean... it's my place too, but you know what I mean, right?" He laughed a bit at himself.
"Maybe we can salvage what is left of this birthday."
He paused at the angel's next comment and seemed for a moment to absorb it. He then simply nodded his head quietly. "I know." He said very quietly.
"I know."

((Awwww...I missed my chance. Haha. Oh well! And it's fine! I understand my sweet! Stuff like that always comes first...life comes first. xD))
Gabriel gave Talen a smile as the young man complimented his taste. "Yes. If you can have what you want, then why not get it?" He said in response and shut the door. Putting on his sunglasses, he turned on the car.
"Your place it is then." He said calmly and revved the engine as if to show off to Talen some more. He then put the car into drive and took off.
"Here we are." He said after they had gotten to the house. "Don't worry your sister with any unnecessary talk about what just happened. If the time comes that she must know...that is fine. But hopefully that time won't come. She's burdened...don't make anything any worse." He warned Talen with the air of a father speaking to his son. "Call Mei when she and Abel are wanted over. She'll be staying with Abel for a while now. Her jobs have been pushed aside to someone else. As for me...I may or may not come. We'll see if it is wanted."
He unlocked the doors and looked away from Talen. "Abel's a sucker for anything heart felt." He added as an afterthought.

((Gabe is LEGIT!!! Fo' real.))
Talen was always very honest and when Gabe went on to show off his car, of course Talen wasted no trying to not look impressed. He felt a little emasculated just being around the man, and quite quickly felt sorry for his sister's husband. With Gabe there seriously seemed to be no contest, but what business was it of his? He just shook his head and instead gave a male whistle.
"Nice. Car." He said nice and slow, nodding his head. "Seriously."
Once outside his place he waved his hands. "Don't have to tell me. I've spent years not telling my sisters things like this, but trust me... if she wants to find out... she will." He grinned and slid out of his seat and out into the cold air. "I'll catch ya around, Gabe." He sighed a little.
"Why is it whenever I see you it's because stuff got rough? We gotta stop meeting like this, Gabe... Maybe I'll call you." He shrugged and then winked. "We'll see what I can do for Abel."
