Rory moved to kneel before her, hands on her hips. "Then what? Come on, lass. Talk t' me, eh? I cannae make it better if you donnae tell me what's wrong." He gave her a small smile, trying to make her feel better.

Lee kept her eyes on her hands, flinching as she wrapped up her cut. "It's just... everything..." That was all. "I was in a good mood, but apparently I shouldn't've been. We start talking about babies, and then Lauss insults me. And then I cut myself..." She pouted, whimpering lightly once more. "And I still haven't been able to tell you the rest of what I was gonna say." She chose silly things to get upset over, it seemed.

Rory sighed. "It ain't tha' you shouldnae been happy. I wis just, I dunno, a little surprised at how happy you were about not bein' pregnant. I mean, w're taught tha' there are no unwanted children, so if you had been, I may not hae been exactly expectin' one so soon, but I wouldnae been unhappy. I didnae realize what a big deal not haen one yet wis t' you." He rubbed her hips affectionately. "You really gonna listen t' Lauss? He might be an Essentic an' really brilliant, but, Lee, love, he donnae know his arse from a hole in th' ground. He's sorta th' last person I'd take advice from. What wis your other news, anyway?"

Lee shook her head a bit. "Yeah, but..." She sighed softly, looking off now that her boo-boo was all better. "He doesn't say things to hurt me. I'm not mad at what he said, just that he actually said it. He said I'm not motherly, which is true, and that I'm a burden to my mother, which is true. But he didn't have to say it." Her eyes finally fell back down to the boy, and she licked her lips as she debated whether or not to tell him, and if so, how. "Faolan's cards say we're gonna have a happy marriage." She looked down, not in any mood to smile, and just relaying what she'd been told. "And we might be able to babysit the twins if Ellandra agrees to it. Just for practice for our own kids. I know you dun need it, but I do..."

"You ain't a burden t' your mother. She's just selfish. You ain't a thin' like her, Lee. Besides, can hardly be a burden on someone you donnae live wi', reet? You live wi' me an' I'll ne'er see you as a burdern. Not e'er," Rory assured her, reaching up to stroke her cheek. "Fao's cards ne'er lie. You didnae really need them t' tell you what I been tellin' you all along, though. I'd love t' baby-sit th' twins. I might know more about babies, but tha' donnae mean I wonnae mind th' extra practice."

Lee smiled, deciding not to push it any further. She leaned forward to give Rory a small kiss of appreciation, lowering her eyes a moment as she thought. "Two babies will be hard, though. But maybe that'll just make it easier when we only end up with one." She shrugged, finding twins to be a good way to challenge herself. Then again, she was taking a leap here, going from no baby experience to twins.

"W' could hae twins," Rory teased. "You ne'er know." He got up with a small grunt of effort then pulled her to her feet and into a hug. "I love you, Lee. E'en if w' ne'er hae kids, I'll always love you." Stepping back, he smiled at her. "Now, how about I gae cook dinner, eh?" Want t' help, or d'you wanna gae apologize t' Lauss? I bet you prolly hurt his wee feelin's."

Lee's eyes narrowed, giving Rory a dull look. "I have nothing to apologize for." She folded her arms as she headed out of the bathroom. She hadn't insulted him, it was the other way around. "If I should say sorry then you should thank him. He's trying to convince me to have kids sooner." She made a "psh" sound as she stepped back into the kitchen, apparently still annoyed.

Rory sighed and thumped his head against the doorframe a few times. At least it wouldn't be a boring marriage. Trailing after the girl, he went to the kitchen to start dinner, letting her just stew awhile. It wasn't like he was cheering her up anyway. If he let her be, she might come around on her own.

Lee peered over Rory's shoulder, resting her chin on his back. "I can help..." Even if she wasn't a good cook, she wanted to try to be helpful. She wasn't as upset as she seemed, now that she'd been able to talk about what had been bothering her.

"It's alreet," Rory said quietly. "I can fix dinner. Why not gae pick out somethin' t' wear t' th' show tonight?" He smiled at her over his shoulder, knowing she hated cooking anyway.

Lee backed away, nodding a bit and assuming Rory wasn't exactly happy with her, for whatever reason. She headed toward the bedroom, though stopped as she passed Lauss' door, sighing a bit and peering inside to find him on his bed, book resting in front of him. "Hey..."
"Hello." Lauss peered his eyes up, not really sensing that she wanted to say more than just a greeting.
Lee slouched, leaning on the half open door, not looking Lauss in the eyes. "Sorry for getting mad," she glanced up at the essentic, then back down, feeling her pride dwindle with each passing second.
"That's alright, Miss Lee." Lauss looked up from his book, clearly a bit happier. "May we study together now?"
"Er, no. I... gotta go do something..." Lee backed away, waving as she closed the door on him, happy to be away from books and learning for now. Right, back to the task at hand: getting pretty. She didn't plan to tell Rory she'd apologized, simply because it would damage her ego quite a bit. Not that it'd help, anyway. He didn't like her right now, it seemed.

After awhile, Rory appeared at the bedroom door. "Dinner's ready if you wanna come eat. I made venison. You like tha', reet?" He rubbed at his arm idly, looking down. "I'm sorry if I made you mad."

Wait, already? Lee's cheeks turned deep red as she looked down at herself, wishing she'd better estimated the time it'd take for dinner to be prepared. She stood, mostly naked, in the master bathroom, wearing nothing but one of the sets of lingerie she and Sienna had bought. She hadn't planned for Rory to see her now, but had wanted to surprise him tonight -- she was just making sure it still fit and looked nice. She moved to poke her head out of the door, not paying much attention to what he was saying. "Um... that's... that's okay. I'll be out soon... ish."

Rory nodded, figuring she was still upset with him and went to fix himself a plate. He sat at the table, eating quietly and wondering if he should've bothered getting off work early after all. Lee didn't really seem up to couple-y stuff anymore and probably didn't want to go see the horse show later either. He sighed softly, not sure where things had gone wrong this evening. Should he have been more outwardly happy about there not being a baby to worry about?
