Cinderkit looked up at Blizzardstar. "Hello, Blizzardstar. I...I wanted to know if there were extra things I could do around camp. I want to prove that I'm ready to become an apprentice!" She blurted out the last part quickly to get it overwith, afraid the leader might punish her for being so impatient.

Autumnpaw turned around at Waterpaw's call and he smiled. "Of course I can help, what do you need?"

Blizzardstar looked down at the young kit. "Well, what do you want to do?" She mewed.
Waterpaw looked at Autumnpaw. "Could you help me? Since you know that I can do weird things, I'd like you to help me figure them out." She mewed.

Timberbark looked at the fresh kill pile. It was alittle scarce. There must a potrol out, he thought.

Autumnpaw nodded.
"If that's the case, then it's time you knew, Waterpaw. Come with me, and you must never repeat what I am about to say to you, to anyone; not even Blizzardstar or your mentor." He meowed, signaling for her to follow. Autumnpaw pressed low to the ground and crept out of the den, sneaking away, out of camp through a hole in the wall.

Waterpaw followed just as quietly, wondering what could be so important that needed them to be out of the camp.

Once safely out of camp, Autumnpaw began to lead Waterpaw through a clump of cattails, to a well hidden pond. It was deep enough to swim, and a few fish swam in it.
"You have a very difficult journey ahead of you, and it starts here, are you ready to accept your fate and harness your powers?" Autumnpaw asked.

Waterpaw nodded uneasily. Although she wasn't fully sure of what she was accepting, she knew that if she didn't agree, it would end very bad for her.

I, Autumnheart, the medicine cat of WillowClan while the great hero Silverstar was still a deputy, have been chosen to guide you." Autumnpaw meowed. "Let us begin your training. Step into the pool."

Waterpaw stared at Autumnpaw for a couple of heartbeats, before realization dawned on her. That's why he knew so much about herbs and why he seemed so much more mature than he actually was! She nodded, stepping into the pool. Much to her surprise, she stayed dry.

Waterpaw nodded to the apprentice. She quickly focused on one of the fish in the water, and fished it out for him, without even touching the fish. She tried focusing on a small area of water, and tried lifting it out. She was half-sucessful, it had come out, but the water fell back down. "Mousedung!" She cursed.

"That's okay," Autumnpaw purred. "It's only your first day. Water is hard to control, so you'll need to learn how it moves. Instead of pulling, try pushing it instead. Water is never pulled, not even by the wind, it has always been pushed along."

Waterpaw nodded to Autumnpaw. "Okay." She focused on pushing the water as far away from her as possible. Suddenly, a giant wave formed and pushed Autumnpaw back. Waterpaw's eyes widened in surprise, staring at the now-soaking apprentice. "I'm so sorry!" She mewed in dismay.
