The hunter rolled his eyes slightly, unseen beneath his hood. Actually, it sounded like the child had a very disturbed family, if she was so worried about her mother one moment...but at the same time, seemed eager for her blood the next. He didn't want to know what sort of events could lead up to that reaction. Still...the foolish headstrong nature of youth could be to blame. She could well be saying anything she wished, as long as it contradicted him and made her feel like a rebel, no matter how non-sensical it seemed.

Well, at least not everyone here seemed to have failed Darwin's test. If that had been the case, he'd have been sorely tempted to follow the urge to desert the whole crazy lot of them, even if it meant more for him to clean up later. Sadly, he was more familiar dealing with wild beasts than other Pae'il. They were easier to understand most times.

And it seemed that he'd gotten carried away with trying to make a point. He stared down at the faun teen, somewhat puzzled as to what he was referring to...having...to do...oh no. He'd definitely gotten carried away and been misunderstood. Immediately, he crouched, a flesh-toned hand emerging from the cloak sleeve to lift the young faun's chin. "Woah, kid. Don't worry. If all goes well, no one will get hurt tonight, okay? I wasn't suggesting that." Concern radiated from the hunter, frowning beneath his guise. "If possible, we're going to avoid any contact with the possessed ones, at least for now. We don't want to hurt them...but we also don't want them to hurt us, obviously." He reached up and ruffled the kid's hair lightly. "When it comes time to track down your loved ones, it won't be to harm them, but to help them."

Standing tall once more, the hunter addressed the crowd to answer their pleas for direction. "There are some ancient texts on the matter, dealing with the Alpha WerePae and the angry spirits he leads. Some deal with the history and where he came from, some with the spirits, and only a few...hint at a weapon. A cure of sorts for the ones possessed by the spirits." He paused, fists forming in frustration in secret. "Unfortunately, in trying to track down these pages...it seems the Alpha had learned of my intentions and managed to find most of them before I could. The pages were shredded and destroyed in most cases. I have salvaged what information I could from the damaged texts, as well as doing my own research from other sources harder to silence. Wise ones with knowledge of many things that lurk in the shadows with their secrets."

Tension lessening, he continued, "So, where does this leave us? I have a list of ingredients needed to create a potion. This potion will exorcise the possessing spirits from your loved ones, and may well strip the Alpha of his powers as well. While this may be more my goal than yours, what is important, is that you can save your loved ones. The problem arises with the list of ingredients." He paused, realizing the following may not be taken well, may make him look less sure of his actions. However, it wasn't his fault that his hand was forced. His research was almost done, but at this point, he'd have to work with what he had. "I know that all the necessary ingredients are on the list. However, some ingredients may not be needed. Some texts were vague or used old names for things, which today could translate to one of two items. I hadn't yet finished my research in order to eliminate all the unneeded items. Still, the first step is collecting the items, then we can worry about which herbs are not necessary later. I can continue my work in the meantime, especially if there's anyone knowledable in herbs and plants, or just in making potions, with which I can confer."

As Saffron guided his mother back towards the main group, on the opposite side of her than his father, the last comment caught his attention. Herbs and potions? He knew someone quite skilled at that...even if she wouldn't admit it. She was far too humble most times, really. "Mom? What do you think? This would be a fantastic way for you to help." Without waiting for an answer from her, he waved his hand at the hunter on his platform. "Sir? I think my mother could help you with that actually. She's very knowledgable, and she has a special skill that I'm sure will be useful."

"Saffron!"

The hunter glanced down at the voice, turning his attention to the pair. "Ma'am? If you have something to offer that could help the lost ones...I'd like to hear about it."

Blushing slightly at the attention, feeling that all eyes in the room were on her, Takeko glanced around self-consciously before approaching the table to speak quietly, rather than shouting across the room. "I...I've done some work with herbs and simple potions before," she started hesitantly, not sure that her meager attempts would amount to much. "I have a sort of gift. See...I can tell the possible uses of any plant or herb by looking at it. The plant only, not a name or picture; it has to be the plant itself. And recently, I've learned that works for making mixtures with combinations of ingredients too. Does that mean I need to go find the items on the list?" Oh my...she wasn't the most adventurous Pae on the Isle. This could take a while...

The hunter was silent, staring at the woman for a good while. She may have feared his reaction after such a pause, but she didn't expect the one she got. "Oh thank the deities, no, woman. Your talents are better used here! Come, come, we have much to talk about, and quickly! I think, I can fill you in on anything that's not a plant or herb and together we might whittle this list of ingredients down further. It will save time in the long run, so that the others will have fewer things to look for." He hopped down from the table, seeming suddenly full of an eager sort of energy, as if a great weight had lifted from his shoulders. He looped an arm around the angel's shoulders to lead her off to the side to talk, pulling a parchment with writing on it from beneath his cloak.

He called over his shoulder at the rest, "Give us just a few minutes, then we should be ready to set out. Those who are willing to head out on the Isle, make sure that you're prepared to leave! We'll need to move quickly when ready!"

((The next post will be the first of the 'timed response' prompts. One will be posted each day for five days and you will only have that day to respond to it. He looked at the female in his arms, "It looks like we're going out." Seraphim stated. "Are you ready?" Not that she had anything to bring or take off. There was no reason in preparing for the two of them, he at the very least was used to gathering and searching on a whim.

Aspen smiled and nodded at Saffron's idea. "Yes, she will do a wonderful job!" He was very proud of his wife. "I can find underwater plants, if needed." Too bad Ivy, his mother, wasn't around she could really help as well.

Aspen walked up to Saffron, "Do you want to go together, while Mom helps this guy?" It might be a good adventure the two of them together, Father and Son.

"Well, let's go together then. We can make a small, but effective team." Woobie said to Seth, Ama and Karma. "I think the more eyes and better in this race against time." He thought of poor Pastela out there alone and now a were-pae!?! He had to to help her!

"That sounds like a great idea." Karma said to Woobie. She didn't want to go alone and Seth was good at finding things. "Seth knows a lot about this isle, and can be very helpful!"

"Yeah, I'm ready." Cinna said to Phim. They could go just the two of them. They were used to being just the two of them. She wondered what Aysu was going through right now. She hoped that a little bit of pain would let her realize how Aysu hurt her mother. She then shook her head, that was a little dark for her, probably from being around Phim too long.

(This thread is suffering from glitch-posts it seems)

Seth reached into the pocket of his lab coat, pulling out some seeds. Closing his eyes, he focused his energy on them, letting them grow into small blooms. Passing them out to his daughter, Karma, and Woobie, he gave a sigh. "Alright, these Bird fo paradise are your connection to me. If anything happens or anyone disappears, I'll be able to find you."

Ama nodded. "Alright, Dad.... It is important we stay together, we need to not only find Aunt Pastela, but all the others that went missing as well. I hope that we can save them before things get any worse...." She looked at the cloaked figure, frowning a bit in worry.

"Good." He stated, looking around for the hooded figure that was supposed to be giving the go ahead for the hunting parties. He didn't really care if they were allowed to go off or not, the whole thing was just a charade. Seraphim looked at the female, amused at the look she had on her face during her dark thought, wondering exactly what it was she was thinking about.

"That was a good look for you." He stated, favoring her dark side when she let it out, though he had only seen it this once. He was already thinking of various ways to torture that female that had caused Cinna pain in a round about way. Or at least more of them.

"And you can handle this then?" the hunter continued, the conversation drifting back to the crowd as he and the angel female rejoined the main group.

"I...I think so," she nodded humbly. "Though I'll need some things from home for the preparation. I can go get them quickly."

The hunter's hood nodded in response. "Of course. But it's not safe to go out alone. While the others begin the hunt for ingredients in groups, I'll go with you as a guard. If that's okay with you, of course," He added as a second thought, realizing he still wasn't the most trustworthy person at the party, at least in the eyes of the other Pae'il. "You can take to the air, I'll be traveling by land, if that makes you feel better."

Takeko seemed to hesitate for a moment, glancing towards her family nearby, then back towards the cloaked hunter. Steeling herself, she shook her head. "No, that's fine. We need everyone else on the search if possible. It won't take long if we hurry to get back; my home isn't too far. Are you sure you can keep up if I fly?"

The hunter's cloak seemed to shake slightly as a soft chuckle emerged from the clothing folds. "No worries, ma'am. I'll manage." With that, he returned to address the crowd. "If everyone is ready, we'll get started. I'd prefer we not have too many groups wandering about now, so there's no danger of anyone ending up alone. We'll search out two ingredients at a time, splitting up into those two groups to find those, then return here before seeking out the next."

OOC Instructions
Each day (in real time), there will be a new prompt posted with two ingredients to be found by the Pae'il. Each player must pick ONE ingredient that they believe is the needed one, no matter how many Pae'il they are currently RPing. This is your OOC guess at which ingredient is correct. Please make sure that your choice is made obvious; no vague attempts to try and choose both now! You may then respond to the given RP prompt as appropriate, in as much or as little detail as you wish, describing your Pae'il finding the ingredient and returning to the mansion with it.

For guessing the correct ingredient, the player will be granted two points. If you respond to the prompt for that day, but guess incorrectly, you will receive one point for trying. If you fail to respond to a prompt and miss that day completely, you earn no points for that day.

More information on these points will be given once all the ingredients are gathered...

PROMPT #1

The hunter continued, "The first two ingredients are wolfsbane and rye. Wolfsbane may be found growing in Loka Nei Forest. As for the rye, there is a wild patch growing not far from here in the marsh. We'll start with these simple ingredients, then return here for more information." He turned back to Takeko with a nod. "Ready to go, ma'am?" He waited for her agreement then set off for the door.

Wolfsbane Prompt
The Pae'il that choose to seek out the wolfsbane will need to travel into Loka Nei Forest. After searching about for some time, the Pae'il may hear a snarling and rustling in the bushes. Further investigation reveals a new wolf, attempting to stomp and grind the plants into the dust. Upon being discovered, the wolf snarls at the group, then turns and flees into the forest.

Rye Prompt
Pae'il seeking rye have a closer destination, only needing to venture out from the mansion into the marsh. Wide open space is illuminated by the moon's light. In the distance, a silvery form is clear, moving quickly and with vigor. Upon nearing, the figure of the mottled, grey wolf from earlier becomes clear, growling and tearing up what rye he can reach with his fangs and powerful jaws. As the Pae'il near, he turns on them, howling defiantly at the moon before taking swiftly to his paws and vanishing.

He looked at Cinna, raises an eyebrow. He would gather both ingredients if she wished, but that was her choice. Seraphim was going after the wolfsbane.

The purple male looked at the wolf that greeted them. It was certainly a new one, though he did not fear it. The worst it could do was bite him, and he had handled his fair share of wounds at this point, he didn't care either way. His initial response to the snarl was to growl back, it was of course, what he chose to do. Seraphim smirked, picking the wolfsbane and walking towards the destination Cinna wished.

(( I know it looks like a vague attempt to pick both, but he's picking wolfsbane and trying to let Cinna have a choice as well. I'll fix it if that's not okay .o.;; ))

Carter listened carefully and looked a elvis as he thought. THe marsh would be too hard to trek with elvis right now, he was still just a baby, He might get stuck in the mud and carter needed his hands free for collecting the ingredients.

" We'll go into the forest. how does that sound elvis?" he asked and Elvis nodded, cutely pulling out his toy ninja sword and putting on a brave face. Carter smiled and nodded, kissing elvis' head before heading out to look for the wolfsbane.

When they arrived to the forest Elvis clung to him a little harder, because it was dark and, well, not for nothing, but woods in the dark never seem very inviting. " We're allright Elvis," Carter cooed to him soothingly as he continued walking and scouting for what they needed. It was then that he noted the wolf up ahead and what it was doing. " no!" Carter breathed out, Elvis slipping from him arms and running at the growling wolf with his toy sword and letting out a battle cry." ELVIS NO!" Carter cried out, but luckily the wolf decided to turn and leave instead of attacking the child pae'il.

"ya! hiya! hiya!"Elvis peeped as he swung his sword around like a ninja would before cutely falling over on his bum because of the dew on the grass. " don't do that elvis!" Carter scolded, but elvis oly smiled. " I scared it away, because i'm a ninja. I'm going to save Sera...you can save Alister," He said and shrugged. Carter rolled his eyes and went ahead collecting the wolfs bane. "C'mon, lets get back to where it's safe, i've collected all i could from what the wolf left..." He said, scooping elvis up to keep him from running off again and heading back to the party.

[I think I'll respond with a different Pae each day, rotating-like so they all get played. ^^; I'll reply to the prompt I think is the right ingredient, and just assume the other ones I'm playing went off and did their own thing. If that's not kosher lemme know. :3]

Wolfsbane. That sounds important, as it's wolves they're trying to get rid of, yes? Kieran sets off into the Loka Nei forest with the rest of the group that'd decided to search for this ingredient as well. Unfortunately he has no idea what wolfsbane looks like. Bummer.

Peering closely at a bush while trying to appear useful and competent, he hears a rustling close by. Kieran backs away slowly and looks around frantically for support from any of his searchmates. The wolf jumps out of the bushes to his right, and for a moment he's mesmerized by the beauty and intricacy of its coat. And then he cries out, desiring solely to run the hell away.

But he remembers Elizabeth. The wolf seems more intent on ripping the bush it'd burst from to shreds than killing any of them, so Kieran runs toward it, screaming, frightening the wolf and making it run away. He picks up one of the few undamaged plants on the bush left.

So this is wolfsbane, huh?

Jazz knew not to go it alone, but didn't have anyone to go with. She shrugged as she headed it alone anyway. She was an elder after all what could happen?

The elder went after the Rye. It didn't take her too long as she found it and the wolf from before. They said he was called "Faroth". She looked at him and nodded. "Hello there Faroth. Don't worry I'm just getting some and I'll be gone." The flew a bit of the stuff to her so that she didn't need to even go close to him.

As she got the Rye she watched as he ran off. She nodded to herself before heading back to the Mansion. Her costume sure wasn't the type for this. Why didn't she go as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider?

Anna-Maria looked after her map as she headed off. She went with the Faun so she wasn't alone. The map lead her off to the rye as well. As she reached it and found the wolf again she didn't pay much mind. The demon just waited for him to leave before getting her bit and then headed back. The map was helpful this time. Maybe it would be again?

"Rye" Seth said, brushing a stray piece of hair from his eyes. "I'm more familiar with it's properties...." That, and even though Wolfsbane sounded like it could be a magical ingredient, sometimes those that were overly obvious were the wrong answer.

Ama nodded, agreeing with her father. "I'm all for the Rye." As the group left into the marsh, the faun scrunched her nose up. "It stinks here...."

Seth suddenly placed an arm out to stop them from walking. There in front of them was the wolf from before. Eyes narrowing, Seth cursed himself for having left his staff at his home.

Ama, however, grabbed a fallen branch, weilding it like a club. "RAAAAAAAAH!" Her battle cry rang out as she chased after the wolf, who had dissapeared into the trees.

Seth frowned. "The plants are nearly destroyed, we'd better collect all that we can before that werepae comes back to finish off these herbs." Reaching down, he filled his pockets full of as much rye as he could.

(( @ Umi and Mene -- Both are fine by me. Long as I can tell what your choices are, you're free to RP however you'd like. ^_^ The RP portion of this part is pretty relaxed and open to creativity. <3

I'm not playing the game, obviously, so my Pae'il will either be playing their part in the plot or just following around whoever they were RPing with before. XD And/or responding to other RP as necessary.))

Something was nagging at Saffron, like something he'd forgotten at home...or something he couldn't quite figure out how to process...but he didn't know what it was. He just seemed distracted to the casual viewer, despite all the action going on. Maybe it was too much action going on to process, maybe that was it.

He turned to his father with a nod. Sure, why not? They didn't have much time together to themselves really, especially not lately, so it'd be welcome. Still, there was safety in numbers, so he turned to ask...

...oh crap. Texas was missing.

At some point in the chaos, the demon must have given up his vantage point and slipped into the crowd. And after blending in, had taken leave of the rest before the hunter had returned with instructions.

Great.

Saffron couldn't possibly determine what in the wide world of Telrunya Texas could have been thinking, taking off on his own given the situation. Was he a moron?!? The mixed angel hadn't thought so, but he might have to rethink that assumption...

With a sigh, he turned to his father seeming more focused and less distracted now. "I was going to say we could stay close, go for the rye, but it seems we have another situation. Texas has vanished and I think he took off on his own before the groups set out for ingredients." He reached up, rubbing his temples tiredly. "He couldn't have gotten far yet. Listen, dad? If you wanna' stick with the group heading into the marsh, I'll take a look from the air and see if I can see Texas. No one should be out alone tonight and if I can find him quickly, I'll be right back to rejoin the rest of you, 'k?"

Normally, he wouldn't have headed off like this either, but...if he was the only one who'd noticed the demon's departure, he certainly couldn't allow Texas to act so reckless alone. He turned to give his father a swift hug. "I'll be right back, I swear. I'll keep to the air like mom, so don't worry. I'll be safe." He smiled reassuringly at his father before heading for the door.

He'd looked forward to spending some time with his dad, yes...but if he hurried, he wouldn't lose much time. Feathered wings flaring in the chill night air, the mixed angel took to the skies, eyes scanning the ground for any sign of the lone demon.

prompt one

This was the stupidest thing she had ever heard of, for all their talk of staying together everyone was eager to jump off alone. Even a small group of them was still alone; chances are not a one of them was even trained.

Letting them go seemed like a great idea, this had nothing to do with her. Her mother would not be caught if she didn't want to be. In the end, curiosity finally pulled the young woman. Dropping her lame weapon, the nymph took flight out of the mansion, first stop was her home.

Arriving in short time, the red head grabbed her morningstar and a bag, but didn't remove her costume. There wasn't a real reason; she just didn't take it off. From there, she headed for the Wolfsbane, come on the name itself gave it away.

Apparently it was right, the blue and gold wolf was trying to destroy it as she appeared. Briefly, she tried to figure out who the wolf was; the colors looked like a costume she had seen before. Sadly, she hadn't paid attention much to anyone and couldn't place it in the end.

No matter, as she appeared it ran off. With a soft snort, she picked up the surviving plant and placed it in the bag. A soft sigh left her, this errand girl thing was not working for her. However, the choice to find out what was really going on was just too tempting.

Back to the mansion, maybe she could get the Late One alone for a little question and answers.

Hesitantly at first, Takeko had taken wing, understanding the need for speed, but unsure if the hunter could keep up, despite his word that he'd be fine. Of course, a glance down at the ground showed the cloaked figure as a dark blur against the ground, easily keeping pace with the flying angel. She was impressed, but said nothing, fixing her eyes on the horizon where her home lay. Few Pae'il could run like that, she knew...but on the other hand, she knew a couple herself that probably could, so it wasn't unheard of. Simply impressive. Of course, if he really was a hunter and had been tracking these beasts for so long, he would have to be in possession of a number of skills.

The trip seemed to take little time at their current speed, not to mention the lack of conversation kept them focused on the task of traveling. Takeko had only had a brief flash of movement from time to time below in the forest to mark the hunter's path, though she'd only noted enough to make sure she hadn't lost him. Ha ha, that was silly, right? He was a hunter.

She was...mildly startled to say the least as she glided downwards to land, noting the weapon in his hands. Where had that come from?!?

However, the hunter had his back to her, his attention on the surrounding forest and fingers posed expertly on the arrow notched in his bow. "I'll keep guard here," he muttered quietly over his shoulder. "Get what you need from inside and we'll head back to the mansion."

Takeko nodded briefly, eyes on the weapon at first, then turning to rush into her home for her potion-making tools.

---

The pair re-entered the mansion's grand room, the hunter turning to see which Pae'il had returned and Takeko rushing off to set up her tools at a nearby table. "Good job, everyone! Bring your findings to the table and as soon as we're all ready, we'll talk about the next two ingredients." The hunter had shouldered his bow once more, arrow returned unused to his hidden quiver.

Completely in business mode now, Takeko's focus was on the bowls, knives, mortar, and pestle on the table in front of her. She took the offered ingredients from the returning Pae'il with a polite nod, swiftly sorting out the herbs and eying both piles for some time. A look of utmost concentration crossed her face, then she gathered up the wolfsbane in front of her, beginning the process of chopping and tossing it into her mixing bowl.

---

PROMPT #2

The hunter nodded in satisfaction at her work, waiting until all the Pae'il had returned to continue. "Great, now for our next targets. We will need some moonstone flowers and quicksilver blossoms. The moonstone flower grows in the light of the great moon, but only in certain, special places. Luckily for us, I've found a patch that blooms in the Fae Clearing of Loka Nei Forest. As for the quicksilver blossoms, they may be found here in the marsh. You'll know them by the way they shimmer, even in the shadows. Good luck, everyone."

Moonstone Flower Prompt
At the edge of the Fae Clearing, a small patch of golden flowers shone in the moonlight...at least, the few that remained among criss-crossing pawmarks and deep gouges in the earth from powerful claw swipes. Still, there might be enough for the Pae'il on the search to gather a few together to return.

Quicksilver Blossom Prompt
Out on the open marsh, it seems the wolves were continuing their destructive quest with fury. Slipping through the shadows, they left a trail of ravaged, silvery petals in their wake as they sought out the next ingredient. Still, it seemed they were acting more in panic or fury than deep thought, as they'd missed another patch of blossoms, still glittering in the shadows of a large fern.

((It would help, especially while Gaia is glitching, if everyone could add a note in their posts from now on to make it clear which prompt they are responding to. Thanks!))

[PROMPT NUMBAH TWO! XD]

Kelebek finds herself whisked along by the elbow with Eudora as they search out ingredients. If she weren't so worried about everyone making it out of this alive, she'd probably find this fun and invigorating, like the treasure hunt from last summer.

At least Eudora is mostly keeping her from falling over. Mostly.

At the edge of the Fae Clearing, where they'd been told to go to look for moonstone flowers, which sounded pretty as well as significant, Kelebek looks around for any signs of flowing flowers. She doesn't see anything, and sighs disappointedly, and just as she turns around to start looking elsewhere, a glint catches her eye. There in a small patch of moonlight are some golden blossoms! "These are it!" she exclaims excitedly to Eudora, rushing forward to gather what whole flowers were left.

"Looks like we weren't the only ones who wanted these. Look." She points to the cris-crossed gouges in the dirt. She shivers. "Let's hurry back. I'm scared."
