Vii Star

Aged Vampire

PostPosted: Thu Oct 15, 2009 2:13 pm

"Biological? Like chemical war-fare type plague?" Vii's eyes were wide and he stiffened slightly in reaction to her revelation. Shifting agile on his feet for a moment he nodded.
"I feel normal again, but I have a slight headache and parched, but other than that no complaints." With a short shrug he pointed to the door.
"Well, I'll just be going then, unless there is anything else you need from me?" His voice was a pleasant tenor, and melodic like his female nature, dancing through the magic filled air around them.

"Nothing at all. The door will take you where you wish to go." It would be safer not to have Vii wandering around the estates without a guide. The walls had a tendency to swallow people whole.

"Emma," Zach's voice rang out through the library as she descended the steps. "You around? I was wondering if you knew any books that could teach me how to get my wings back."

There was the sound of hushed voices from a corner of the library, only one of them female and known to Zach.

"She needs your help. Go.", came an unfamiliar voice, male and British.

"But-" That was Emma's voice, without question, but with a note of warmth in it that was rare indeed.

"I'll be right upstairs, if you need me." With that, there was the sound of retreating footsteps and the soft closing of a door.

Emma emerged from behind a bookshelf, looking rather mournful as she made herself known to Zach.

Zach was able to pick up on the last bit of the conversation, despite the sound her echoing voice made. When she spotted Emma she immediately saw the look on her face and mirrored it.

"I hope I didn't interrupt anything," she said with an apologetic tone.

"Nothing I can't resume later." Her hair, which now hung loose to her waist, coiled itself into a tight bun at the nape of her neck, held in place with nothing more than a wisp of magic.

"I don't think I quite caught what you were looking for."

"I, uh," Zach watched Emma's hair fix itself with awe. Even though she was currently female she didn't intend to let her hair grow that long. But if she did that would certainly be useful to know.

"Right," Zach thoughts came back to Earth. "I was wondering if you had books on re-growing body parts. Or books on regeneration... or phoenixes."

She trailed off and looked away with her last request. The only book she had known to hold any real knowledge of phoenixes belonged to her mother. Hopefully Emma had something in her library.

"Regrowing body parts for a mortal is a painful process..." she mused, tapping a finger against her lips. "But phoenixes are a different story entirely." She picked up a quill from the desk, a brilliant red-gold. "Given willingly, if you were wondering."

She vanished into the shelves for a moment, returning with an armful of thick and ancient tomes.

"These may help."

"If any of these work," Zach took the books from Emma carefully and laughed. "Then I may just give you a feather or two as well."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 15, 2009 9:33 pm

Emma's eyes widened. "That would be a great gift indeed."

Phoenix feathers had done a great deal for her.

They had not saved her own life, but they had aided in a far greater deed.

"After everything you've done for me I'd be happy to give you what you need."

Having been a phoenix his whole life, Zach had encountered more than one person who wanted her feathers or her wings or her blood or her tears. It was kind of ridiculous. Emma, however, did not try and get any of these from her by force so she thought it only appropriate that she give the sorceress what she needed. Especially since she was so willing to help Zach grow her wings back.

Emma turned away for a moment as her hand clenched around her pendant, but she composed herself and turned back to Zach, features relatively calm.

"I hope the books have what you need, and if you need a spellcaster I will do what I can."

"Right, thanks Emma," Zach nodded and thanked Emma again. If she wasn't carrying books she would have hugged her again. Or bowed. Something that would normally have ended badly with an armful of ancient, priceless, exceedingly rare tomes. With a bounce in her step not seen in some time, Zach headed toward the nearest place to read. Perhaps a desk or a table or comfy chair or something like that.

"Anytime."

The moment she was sure Zach was out of sight, the enchantress turned and ran from the library, her shoes making little sound against the floor as she cried out something very quickly and with a great amount of excitement.

"Phoenix feathers, darling!"

A few minutes later, the sound of light footsteps was heard again, this time approaching the library. Emma slid through the door, closing it gently behind her. Her hair was down again, looking somewhat tangled, and her lips had a recently-kissed look about them.

"Zach?"
