Solar Beam, Crenu should have done something about the sunlight already. Poliwhirl's Rain Dance would have been nice, or Pupitar's Sandstorm. Only problem was both would take serious hits from grass type moves so he wanted to bury at least one of Erika's pokemon before that happened. He would just have to hope Ariados was agile enough to dodge the powerful beam, though it would be difficult. But something was wrong, Tangela's stance was all wrong. He was setting up to absorb the strong sunlight and fire it at Aridos, instead he was digging into the ground with his vines. Before he knew it there were rocks being flung at Ariados instead, and since Erika seemed very competent as a trainer this must have been a new move on Tangela's part. The rocks hit Ariados pretty bad, but she was alright. Without much practice that move wasn't at it's most powerful. "That looked like...Ancientpower I think. Anyway, Ariados use Leech Life." It was a stronger move than Poison Sting and had the ability to restore some of her energy, but Crenu wished that Ariados knew some stronger poison or bug type moves. He'd have to do something about that. Ariados was pissed that she'd just been struck, so she was very eager to launch herself at Tangela ready to sink her mandibles into his body and drain the life from him.

Milo then pinned Winona to the ground, laughing as she struggled in his firm grip. "Go ahead," he said in between cackles. "I always loved that fiery spunk you had. Entertain me!" The girl screamed and kicked, but only succeeded in making the crazed boy laugh even harder.

"Now, you know..." Milo began, bobbing his head side to side in a disturbingly unfitting casual manner. "I could very well just pretend that I'm actually the boy that you harbor those...sickening feelings of love for," he took in a deep breath, his voice conveying a sort of annoyance as he continued on. "andthatI've betraaayed you and taken advantage of you and all that wondrous set of dramatics, buuut I think I'll do something a little different; something much more fun. Instead, it would be much more delightful to do this little activity with you knowing that the happily-ever-after that you so desire, that heartfelt pairing you pine for, is impossible. Unattainable." His eyes returned to Winona's, his expression and tone that similar to an unhappy lecturer. "Are you not pretty enough? Oh no." He leaned in close, the girl closing her eyes and turning away as he gently ran his tongue across her cheek. "Oh-ho-ho-hoooo-no. Was it because you waited too long and red got to him first? Nope. Has your tough, independent and ultimately fraudulent outer image betrayed you?" Then came the smile. "No, you cannot have him because the brave, noble little boy you know and love never existed. Like your little tough-girl act, Mike's very being was just a phony shell, a farce. A self-aware delusion unable to accept his fate to disappear. Like him, you are alone, separated from all that can shield you from the evils in the world...

...alone with me. Hn-hn-hn-hn, ha-ha-ha-ha-haaaa, HA HA HA HAHAHAHAHA!" Milo grabbed Winona's shirt, and with a little help from good ol' fire, tore a lovely hole right in it, exposing a good portion of the girl's chest.

"Stop! No no no no!" Winona screamed, tears flowing down her face.
Milo replied with a delighted cackle. "HAHAHAHA! What's wrong? I thought yo-hrrk! Ah!" Milo winced, his eyes fluttering slightly. Winona looked up in confusion. "This doesn't concern you, whelp!" he screamed to what seemed like no one. "I'm a little busy, wouldn't you mind coming back late-AGGH!" He thrashed from side to side, screaming at the top of his lungs. he released his hands, but Winona was too scared to even realize that she was free. "SO CLOSE!" Milo screamed before falling limply on top of the Gym Leader. For what seemed like hours, the two lie there frozen. Winona's chest heaved in and out as she sobbed, her eyes wide and focused on the unconscious boy slumped over her.

With a pained groan, the boy stirred.

"For later?" Kasiya asked, looking down at her outfit a bit skeptically. "But aren't we too old to play dress-up?" she asked, only realizing what she'd said after she said it and within a matter of seconds her face became flushed with embarrassment. "Wow, I really just said that out loud, didn't I?" she asked sheepishly, the mad blush in her cheeks only deepening. There was a knock on the door just then and Kasiya heard Saul's voice calling her. "Uh oh, I'd better get back out there or I'm so gonna be fired," she said, rushing over to the small dressing table and cleaning up the teary mascara streaks from her cheeks and eyes, though it had the annoying side-effect of also getting rid of the cover up Cynthia had applied and allowing some of her bruises to shine through. There was nothing she could do about it now though and as she turned to open the door she paused and looked up at Keegan. "Wait a minute... you were all beat-up yesterday," she said, pointing. "But you look fine now... how did that happen?" she asked, opening the door and stepping out into the hallway.

"Brace yourself, Tangela, and prepare for a Stun Spore counter!" Erika said, her voice a little firmer than before. She knew that Tangela couldn't take much more, and that there was very little she could do against Crenu's Ariados other than AncientPower (though she wouldn't risk having him use it again until they'd practiced it a lot more). Tangela could do nothing but close his eyes and stiffen his vines as the arachnid neared him and he let out a yelp of pain as he felt her fangs pierce his body. However he was quick to strike back, once again reaching out with his tendrils to hold Ariados in place while he released another cloud of glittering, gold powder directly into her face.

After receiving his own Pokemon back from the nurse Callum turned to Train. "You'll never know if you don't try. Besides, even if you don't win the match against Brock, it's still valuable experience. Plus, you can always try again." He swept the unruly stray green hairs from his forehead with a brush of his hand. "Anyway, I think I'm going to make my way back towards Celadon City. I've got some things I need to take care of back home, plus I want to start o Rattata's training. You and Growlithe take care, all right?" he said, offering Train a friendly handshake before he headed for the doors, giving a final wave before he went outside.

"Tch, couldn't fight it off forever." He watched as Ariados was helpless to escape the paralyzing powder this time. It engulfed her body and entered her system as she drained Tangela of her energy. When she released her bite she felt much better as she'd regained a small portion of her strength, but it wasn't anything to brag about. What did over power her was the powder that entered her body, she knew that it had done it's work. But that didn't mean she would give in to it, she was to stubborn for that and didn't want to fail Crenu. "Ariados use Poison sting and get free." He spoke firmly, he wasn't going to let this go on much longer. Erika still had two pokemon in reserve and he wasn't going to let Ariados take much more punishment from Tangela. Ariados got the message, doing her best to fight the stinging sensation running through her body that was trying to seize up her body. It took some doing, but Ariados was able to open her jaws and spit out a strong spray of poison filled needles at her blue wiggly opponent.

A rush of inappropriate and naughty comments immediately came to mind but Keegan chose to keep them to himself for now and instead only snickered, quite amused at her embarrassment. The knocking startled him a bit though and he narrowed his eyes at the man behind the door, not that it would actually make a difference. He followed Kasiya out into the hallway, closing the door behind them. Wow, did I really look that bad? he thought, frowning at her next question, but he just shrugged. "It's a miracle what they can do with makeup these days," he lied, deciding to leave Sheridan and Sheena out of the explanation. Last he could recall, Kasiya hadn't exactly been a big fan of the bubbly girl nor her violet-haired sister, and he'd had enough of being yelled at for one evening.

The two made their way back out into the main hall and Keegan stopped, looking around in disdain. With Riza gone and Kasiya busy working, it meant that he would be virtually on his own now. Sure, he was surrounded by mostly badly-dressed people, but that didn't make it any better. "So, uh, what made you decide to get a job here tonight anyway?" he asked, already sure he knew the answer. Right now he was just hoping to stall her a bit so that he didn't have to sit at a table, alone. I wonder if I could get her fired... he wondered to himself, suddenly quite amused by the idea. It seemed like a challenge.

Riza allowed Eris to lead the way for the time being, since she didn't really have anything better to do. The young Cyndaquil was quite anxious to explore and very eager to lead, and after only a few minutes the fire mouse strayed from the main path and began to make her way through the tall grass. Riza sighed but followed after her, hoping she could keep Eris within her sights. The grass was very damp from the dew and Riza groaned a little, though she continued to follow her tiny Pokemon. "I don't think there is anything out here, Eris," Riza said after a while. The sun was starting to show over the horizon and she was feeling a little hungry now. She also wondered if her other Pokemon had awoken yet. Eris didn't seem to be deterred by her trainer's statement and instead continued to totter along, quite happy. Riza was considering recalling her into her pokeball and heading back to the pokecenter when the Cyndaquil stopped in her tracks so suddenly that Riza nearly tripped over her. Wondering what the hold up was Riza knelt down beside Eris, trying to see what it was that had gotten her attention. Eris was looking at a small cluster of grass on the ground excitedly, though Riza didn't see what the big deal was.

"Eris, it's just grass," she said flatly, standing up. "We should get back to the pokecenter now..." she trailed off as she watched the fire mouse poke at the leaves, eyes widening in surprise when they began to shake and tremble. "Okay, that's new," Riza mumbled. "Maybe we should just leave it alone, Eris," she said, reaching down to pick up her Cyndaquil. Eris let out a cry of protest and grabbed a hold of the leaves sticking out of the ground. "Come on, let go!" Riza shouted, pulling harder. Eris just held on tighter, and a tug-of-war game quickly ensued. With one final yank the cluster of grass came free from the ground, sending Riza tumbling over backwards. Eris landed on her stomach while the cluster of grass turned out to not actually be grass at all....it was a Pokemon.

"Wait a minute, isn't that an Oddish?" Riza asked, sitting up slowly, Eris in her arms. The little plant was glaring up at the two interlopers angrily. Riza pulled out her pokedex. "Oddish. A Weed Pokemon. It wanders around during the nighttime to scatter it's seeds. During the daytime it buries itself in the ground to avoid detection from predators."

"It must have just hid itself," Riza said, closing her pokedex. "But it looks like you made it mad, Eris." The Oddish was now hopping up and down angrily, still glaring at the Cyndaquil in front of it. "Well if it wants to battle, a battle it shall get! Go Eris, use your ember on it!"

"It couldn't hurt, I suppose," Katie replied, though she wasn't very hopeful. 'But if those two aren't ever going to get along, I don't know what I'll do.' She sighed and headed towards the cafeteria as well, shrugging when Lilah asked her question. "I really don't know what's in the egg," she said, looking down at the black-spotted egg. "It would be really sweet if it was an Elekid but I really don't think so." She decided to keep her suspicions of what the egg probably was to herself, as she didn't feel like explaining her hatred of the yellow electric rodent to someone she only had just met.

The Oreburgh pokecenter wasn't very busy so it didn't take long for them to get their food, and Katie sat down at one of the many empty tables before releasing Genki and Noa, putting one of them on either side of her. The two Pokemon peered around their trainer in order to glare at each other, but both seemed to be too hungry to be in the mood to fight now. "You two better behave," Katie told them both sternly before she gave them each a bowl of Pokemon food. Genki nodded and started to eat his supper. Noa scoffed and looked away, but soon she was eating as well. "Ugh, what am I going to do with you two?" Katie grumbled, shaking her head before she started on her dinner as well.

It was safe to say that Kasiya didn't quite believe Keegan's make-up explanation, but she chose not to pursue the subject any further. She turned around and studied him closely for a moment, and shrugged. Perhaps it really hadn't been as bad as it looked; after all it wasn't like she was focused on the small details during the attack yesterday. She began to make her way through the room, though his question made her stop and roll her eyes. "Oh, don't you know that being a waitress is just my favouritest thing ever," she said sarcastically, placing her hands on her hips. "You honestly have to ask why?" she asked, shaking her head. "For you, Captain Obvious. For you." She chuckled and picked up a tray from one of the tables and began to collect empty glasses. Though her main goal for the evening had gone much better than she thought it would, there was still something nagging at her from the back of her mind, telling her that something was still wrong, but she couldn't pinpoint just what it was. I really hope this gets figured out before I go to Sinnoh tomorrow, she thought, carrying the now-full tray towards the kitchen. Things will probably only get worse if not...

The barrage of poisoned needles would turn out to be way too much for Tangela to take and with a pained cry the Vine Pokemon slumped to the ground, some of his vines still writhing and twitching as they loosened their hold on the arachnid Pokemon. "You did very well, Tangela," Erika said as she recalled the fainted mass of vines into his Pokeball. "Very well indeed, take a good rest now." She tucked the Pokeball into the folds of her obi and withdrew a second one. "All right, it's your turn!"

She tossed the red and white sphere out onto the grassy battlefield, revealing a healthy and energetic-looking Ivysaur. A sweet aroma seemed to spill out from the budding flower on it's back as it stretched. "Ivy-saaur!" it roared, looking towards the Ariados positioned across from him.

"Leech Seed, Ivysaur! Go!" Erika called, eager to see how well one of her newest partners would fare in a Gym Battle. She'd become pretty famous for using her Tangela, Victreebel and Vileplume as her three Pokemon and she wanted to try and change it up a little; make her Pokemon more unpredictable. Ivysaur took a few steps forward, sizing up the Ariados in front of it before it planted it's feet firmly on the ground and lowered it's head. Three almond-sized seeds were then fired from the opening of the bud on it's back, quickly heading for the spider Pokemon.

Lilah took a little longer getting food together for her Pokemon but she eventually joined Katie at the table. She spread out the food she'd picked out for her Pokemon and released them all one by one, sitting down to her own plate only when all four of hers were busy eating. In addition to her Glameow and Luxio, Lilah also had a Buizel and a Roselia. Her four seemed to get along pretty well, and Lilah quietly hoped that it wouldn't make Katie feel bad. "So, Elekid, huh? I've never seen one in battle before but I've heard that they're very spirited little guys." She paused to eat a bit of her dinner before continuing. "What else could it be though? How many Pokemon are there that are yellow and black?"

"Evade and follow up with Knock Off!" Mia commanded pointing to the Lopunny as it took off into the air with another bounce from it's powerful hind legs. She was letting her endorphins get the best of her. Normally she wouldn't let a battle get her so riled up as she was often compared to her father when her battling spirit began to show through.

Skorupi nodded to Mia's orders, though he wasn't quite facing her so his slight nod went rather unnoticed. Sigh. No one ever really paid attention to him. But he was determined either way. As the Pokemon neared he scooped up a chunk of mud and flung it at his opponent. It worked last time after all and the prissy little Pokemon really did seem to hate getting dirty.

Though in her anger the Lopunny could care less of her fur and spun her body around and broke through the flying mud with her outstretched leg. The wet dirt was sent flying in several directions and left Scuttle's diversion of little use. The attack connected and Scuttles soon found himself emerged into the mud as pain seared throughout his body. It wasn't enough to knock him out though, he was tough one.

It's a good thing Scuttles has twice the resistance to Fighting type moves otherwise that could have been a fatal blow! "C'mon Scuttles! Let's finish this! Poison Sting!" she cheered though her voice was filled with more confidence and less enthusiasm than she wanted. She'd have to try harder and hide that sense of victory and elation from everyone least they suspect her to be the daughter of the infamous Crasher Wake. Not that the outfit didn't already give it away.

Right, right. He still hadn't completed the Knock Off attack she'd ordered earlier. Sigh. He was doing such a bad job at following orders today so much so that she had to change attacks. It was a miracle that he still had the upper hand. He jumped from the mud, though it tried to suck him back in with a sickening gloop noise. He freed himself quickly, as he had had experienced this before Mia had taken him from the Great Marsh, he got in position to attack. The agile little scorpion opened his mouth and fired off a barrage of glowing needles at the Rabbit Pokemon.

Each one connecting as the poor creature hardly made an effort to dodge the attacks. She and her trainer, the red faced and angry lady were already preparing to leave before the battle had even won. That last Jump Kick wasn't as powerful as they'd previously thought. The Lopunny cried in pain as the attacks hit their mark before fainting, splashing once more into the mud. The trainer recalled her Pokemon and turned to Mia in a huff. "You WILL pay for this!" the lady shrieked before leaving hastily, only to get stuck in another pitfall only a few feet away.

Sam took a quick catnap on the ferry. It was very relaxing, being out on a boat again on the open sea. She knew the ride was going to be awhile, but she couldn't really fall asleep since, after all, she was going home. She lazily traced a few clouds in the sky. It was very peaceful, at least until Star broke out of her pokeball again. Sam, not wanting to spoil her dreamy state, waved Star away. "Go check out the view or something," she murmured. Star, a little annoyed at being ignored, tsked, and walked to the rail. Looking around, and not seeing anybody, she cried out loudly.

"Maarrrsshhh!" She pretended to swoon, and threw herself over the railing, making as big a splash as possible. She broke the surface, floating on her back. Sam sat up rather quickly, but then lay back down. Star was a Water Type, she'd be fine. Serves her right.

"Oh my gosh, stop the boat! Stop the boat! Oh that poor pokemon!" Sam heard heavy footsteps that stopped directly in front of her. She opened her eyes. A slightly overweight girl of about 10 was watching her. It was one of the twins she had seen earlier. "Oh my gosh, oh miss you're a pokemon trainer right?! You have to help her, oh the poor thing, it's fainted!" The girl started pulling on her arm, trying to drag her to the railing. Sam sighed, and walked to the railing. She watched Star, still pretending to be unconscious except you could see her tail fin moving so she could keep up with the boat. Sam shook her head.

"Don't worry, she's fine. She's just acting." She turned to go, but the girl held her arm.

"No I don't think so! I think she really is hurt! Is she yours?! Aren't you going to save her?!" She tugged on Sam's arm a couple of times for emphasis. Sam rolled her eyes, and went to get Star's pokeball. As she approached the bag, she noticed the girl's counterpart sitting on her chair swinging her legs. Sam gazed at her for a moment, wondering why the girl had taken her chair. She rummaged through her bag, and found the little sphere. She returned to the side of the boat, and pressed the small button. Star protested loudly, but was sucked back in all the same. She stuck the ball in one of her dress pockets.

"There, you happy?" She went back to her chair. The other twin stared at her.

"I think something's moving," she said, not to anyone in particular. She pointed to Sam's egg pouch. It was wiggling fiercely. Sam picked it up, and looked inside. There were now several cracks running along the egg. 'Hmm...that was fast.' She looked back to the girls, one fretting and fearful, the other off in her own little world. "It's my egg. It's probably going to hatch soon." The first girl gasped, and the second merely stared into space. She took the entire contraption out of the pouch, and set it carefully on an empty chair. Now both girls looked at it curiously, and the second even reached out to touch it. They both looked at her.

"Wow...that is so cool!" they both screamed at the same time. Sam fell backwards, startled by the sudden enthusiasm.

"What is it?"

"What are you going to name it?"

"Is it a boy or a girl?"

"Where'd you get it?"

"When'd you get it?"

"Who are you?" Sam held up her hands.

"Woah, calm down. I don't know alot about it, I got it at the Gala in Lilycove. I'm Sam by the way, I live in Cianwood."

"So do we!" they chorused. Sam was confused. She thought she knew everyone in Cianwood, it wasn't a very large town. They looked at each other.

"Well we will soon anyways."

"Our aunt sent for us."

"Ms. Kayrell"

"Since, we're trainers, she figured-"

"-why not help us? After all-"

"-she was once a great trainer herself."

"So here we are! On our way! By the way, her name is Janessa-"

"-And her's is Janie. We're 10 years old, and we live in Fallarbor!" Sam held up her hands again.

"Okay okay, I get it. Phew, you guys are hyper." They grinned.

"That's what we've been told." Janessa, the quieter one of the two, cocked her head.

"You're a trainer huh? We should battle! Two on two, if you have a 2nd, in a double battle. It's twice the fun."

Upon hearing Riza's command Eris crouched low, taking an offensive position. The fire mouse let out a sharp growl and with a bit of a hissing sound flames erupted from her back. Eris was ready to do what Riza ordered, but she stopped, suddenly realizing that she had no idea what the girl was talking about. "Quil?" she asked turning her back on her opponent in order to give Riza a questioning look.

"No Eris don't look at me, look at the oddish!" Riza shouted. The little weed Pokemon, upon seeing this opening, narrowed its eyes and charged forward. Eris never saw it coming and was bowled over by the Oddish's makeshift tackle attack. 'Oh wait, Eris doesn't know ember yet,' Riza thought, smacking her forehead with her hand. 'That'll make this much harder now.' Riza sighed and closed her eyes. 'Okay, think. You're gonna be the greatest Coordinator ever, this is just one little bump in the road along the way. She may not have any fire-type attacks yet, but she still has attacks!' Riza opened her eyes and grinned. "Okay Eris, use smokescreen to hide!"

Eris nodded. Now that was something she could do! It took a bit of concentration but she was able to reduce the flames on her back until a thick, black smoke began to drift out, quickly covering the battlefield in a murky haze. The Oddish hadn't been prepared for something like that and it froze in its tracks, looking around with wide, frightened eyes. "Now Eris, use your foresight to pinpoint Oddish, and then slam it with a tackle!" Eagerly, the Cyndaquil complied and rushed into the smoky haze, eyes closed. She reached out with her other senses, and though it took longer than she and Riza wanted she was able to find the location of the Oddish, which had made mad, poorly aimed dash forward, trying to latch onto the fire mouse and use absorb. Needless to say it missed completely and a split second later it cried out in pain as Eris tackled it from behind, sending the little plant tumbling out of the smoke. "Oh, I should capture it!" Riza exclaimed, quickly reaching for an empty pokeball, but stopping when she realized she'd left it and all her other things back at the pokecenter. "Oh no!" she wailed, dropping to her knees as she watched the weed Pokemon dash off into the tall grass and vanish. "Man, I really suck at this catching-Pokemon thing," she mumbled, though when she saw Eris come out of the smoke, looking quite happy, she smiled. "You were great, Eris!" she said, scooping the small Pokemon up into her arms. "But I think we should go back now." Eris nodded, quite content with her first 'victory'.
* * * * *
Katie took note of Lilah's other Pokemon when she saw them. 'Of course, Buizel and Roselia. I should have guessed.' She continued to eat her meal quietly, occasionally looking towards her own Pokemon. Genki and Noa were both silent for once and Katie relaxed a little. "Well, just because the egg is yellow with black spots doesn't mean anything," Katie said, a little too harshly. "It could actually be anything." Hoping she'd made her point, which was that she didn't want to talk about the egg anymore, she continued to eat. She was aware of the egg wiggling every now and then, and as eager as she was to find out what was inside of it, she had an ever-growing sense of dread about it as well.

When supper was finished Katie recalled her Pokemon and gathered up the dirty dishes and returned them to the counter. It was very dark outside now and Katie decided that it would be best to turn in for the night. "Well, it was fun, but I'm gonna grab a room and get some sleep. Nice meeting you today, Lilah," she said, wondering if she'd see the girl again tomorrow. There were plenty of free rooms available in the pokecenter that evening and Katie claimed the first one she came across. She washed up and changed into her pajamas, deciding that tomorrow she would change her outfit and send her dress back home. As much as she loved it, it wasn't practical and she wanted something a little cooler and easier to move in. It wasn't long after she lied down in her bed, Genki cuddled up beside her, still able to put his flame out when he went to sleep.

At battle's end no one had escaped from being thoroughly covered in mud. Both Mia and her Skorupi were caked in the wet dirt and as Mia jumped and cheered on her Pokemon mud was flung every which way. "Good job Scuttles!" she cried pulling the little scorpion into a hug. "Take a rest, I promise we'll get clean later." She brushed off the larger clumps of mud before recalling him into his Pokeball. She attached the camouflage colored sphere into her belt before marching forward, literally.

Soon after their not-so-perilous trek through the swamp had they arrived at a bridge and a small lake. She'd been here a few times, only venturing to Hearthome to do some shopping for things that the small local stores of Pastoria did not offer. The sun which she had appreciated had now disappeared behind a thick veil of clouds and a downpour was imminent. Water droplets burst from the clouds as the angry sky drenched the people below in it's tears. Mia smiled, glad to see the rain as it helped wash off the mud that clung to her clothes. The places where the mud was thin had even dried in the sun was beginning to wash off the fastest. The rain water felt wonderful as it bounced off her head and body. She loved the water, as one would expect of the daughter of a Water gym leader.

The rain continued it's onslaught and half way across the first bridge she was already free of the gunk that had previously stuck to her clothes. "Mud free at last!" she cheered throwing another brilliant smile out to no one in particular. She spun in a small circle nearly tripping over her own feet in the process. "Geez, I really do have two left feet!" she laughed as she changed her spin to a skip. Life's pretty good for begin kicked out of my own home! she thought cheerfully. I should probably head over to Oreburgh since that's where the first gym is located. She put extra spring in her step as she moved to cross the second bridge.

Things were looking bad, Crenu was down one pokemon and his Ariados was paralyzed and hurt. Erika on the other hand still had two healthy pokemon left to use. He didn't know what he had to look forward to, but if Erika sent our another grass only type then he might be able to get through the next battle without giving Ariados too much trouble. But of course, this wouldn't be the case. Erika recalled her Tangela and sent out an Ivysaur, a pokemon Crenu was a bit more familiar with. Grass/Poison type, second stage or the Bulbasaur line. Her bug and poison moves would do no better than the rest, and being the weaker moves in the pool that means I shouldn't really consider them. Heh, alright then. It's not fully evolved yet so it could be worse, but it would be stupid to underestimate Erika's pokemon...ok. He had a battle plan now, so it was alright. But the most troubling thing to deal with was the paralysis. Erika made her move with Leech Seed, for now it was dodge and counter time. "Ariados, Knock those out of the air with Poison Sting." Ariados saw the seeds coming down like bombs, but when she tried to raise her head and shoot them down the powder in her body took it's hold and stopped her cold. She was unable to suppress it and couldn't move a muscle as the seeds landed on her body and took root in her body. She clenched her jaws in pain as she felt the seeds soak up her energy forcefully. "....hmmm."

Keegan watched Kasiya as she began to clear tables of empty wine glasses, and sighed. On second thought, following her around for the rest of the evening would probably be more boring that sitting all by his lonesome. She could have found a better job for the evening, at the very least, he thought, watching her head presumably towards the kitchen, and he checked his watch. He could always go back to his room at the Pokemon Center but he knew that even if he did, he wouldn't be able to sleep at all. So for now, he resorted to wandering around the Gala, hoping to find something of interest, maybe even someone who wanted to battle. He was a little surprised that he hadn't run into Sheridan as of yet, though he was quite thankful for his good fortune thus far. Despite her recent acts of goodwill, his hatred for her was still virulent.

Raucous laughter from the far corner soon caught his attention and, having nothing better to do he decided to investigate. As he approached the noisy table he soon realized it was occupied by a group of guys, all probably around his age. They were talking loudly, drinking, and playing what appeared to be a game of poker, and with fairly high stakes, from the look of it. It wasn't until they'd finished their current hand that they noticed Keegan, and the one shuffling the deck of cards smirked at him. "Hey Red, you want in?" he called, preparing to deal out the next hand. "Minimum bet's $100 though, you sure you can handle it?" He chuckled a little and some of his buddies joined in. Almost compulsively he ran his fingers through his jet-black hair as he awaited a response.

If the punk hadn't been wearing such a cocky grin at that point, Keegan probably would have declined the offer, as he hadn't played poker in a very long time. However, both the dealer's tone and expression seemed like a challenge to the redhead, and against his better judgment, he nodded. "Sure, why not?" he shrugged, claiming an empty seat directly across from the dealer.

"Heh, it's your money," the dealer shrugged. "You even know how to play poker, Red?" he asked, beginning to deal out the next hand.

"Oh sure," Keegan nodded, watching the five cards pile up in front of him, and he picked them up without looking at them. "This is the one where you gotta make 21, right?" he asked earnestly, carefully looking around to study the other players' reactions, and when they burst into laughter, he smiled inwardly. Oh, this is gonna be too easy, he thought devilishly, daring to look at the hand he'd been dealt.

By the time Riza had made it back to the pokecenter the nurse in charge of it had opened up her station for the day. Still carrying Eris in her arms Riza approached the front desk. "Could you give my little Cyndaquil a checkup?" she asked, setting the small Pokemon on the desk. "We had a bit of a scuffle with an Oddish and I just want to make sure she's doing ok."

"Sure thing," the nurse said, taking Eris. "It shouldn't be too long."

Riza thanked her and headed back towards her room. People were starting to stir and only now did Riza realize just how many people had crashed there last night. When she got back to her room, she wasn't surprised to see that both Akima and Diemia were still sleeping. Riza recalled them and gathered up her things, including her outfit from last night, and beckoned for Yula to follow her out into the main hall. She was happy to see that Eris was waiting for her with the nurse, and the Cyndaquil hopped up and down excitedly upon seeing Riza. "Okay, let's get going," she said. "We'll get this sent off home and then we'll get ourselves some breakfast and figure out where we're going to go next."

The two Pokemon nodded in agreement and soon the trio was heading back outside. It didn't take long to get Riza's dress ready for mailing and she paid the small shipping fee without hesitation. As much as she loved her dress, she found that she just couldn't look at it anymore. 'I never should have agreed to go to that thing last night,' she thought glumly as she and her Pokemon left the post office. Nothing had turned out like she wanted, with the big exception of Eris. She took her phone out of her pocket and clicked it on, checking to see if she had any new messages. A light smile appeared on her face when she saw the candid photo of Crenu she'd snapped the day of the beach party she'd set as her background photo. 'He's got the right idea,' she thought. 'Trying to get close to people just ends with heartache and wasted time.'

Katie awoke the next morning feeling refreshed and well rested. She showered and got herself dressed, quite happy with her appearance. Her new outfit was made up of a dark grey skirt with pink trim, a white, sleeveless collared shirt accented by a pink chiffon scarf that hung down her front almost like a tie, grey tie-on bell sleeves (also trimmed with pink, like her skirt), grey knee-high socks and sturdy pink hiking boots. All in all it was much more practical than her previous outfit, though this one had been designed by her mother as well. She wore her hair the same way as before, though the colours of the ribbons holding it in place had changed to match her outfit. The finishing touch was a black leather belt made for holding pokeballs which she clipped into place, and once she'd set Genki and Noa's pokeballs she packed up her messenger bag and headed out to face the day.

Katie already had a plan in mind as she and her small party enjoyed their breakfast, and Katie noticed that every time she spoke, the egg would wriggle in reply. She figured it wouldn't be long now. As she collected her dishes and returned them, Genki called out to her. Turning around, she was a little surprised to see Nurse Joy standing in the entrance to the cafeteria, looking a little worried. When she saw Katie, a relieved look appeared on her face and she rushed over. Katie, though not a people person by any standards, decided to ask if she could help. After all, pretty much everyone owed the health and well-being of their Pokemon to the nurses of the pokecenters. "Nurse Joy?" she asked, quickly recalling her Staravia, as the bird was once again shooting death glares at Genki. "Is something wrong?"

"I'm just glad I found somebody," the nurse replied, though the sad look on her face didn't change. "You see, I just received a phone call from the pokemon center in Hearthome City. They've run out of a special and rare kind of medicine, and none of the stores in Hearthome seem to have any left. We've got some here, but no way of getting it over to Hearthome."

"I could take it to Hearthome," Katie said quickly, causing Genki to give her a very surprised look. It wasn't like Katie to just offer to do something like that. "I don't mind, really."

During breakfast Riza decided that the best thing for her to do would be to head home to the Johto region so she could further prepare for the contest season there, though upon arriving at the harbor she quickly learned that she'd missed the only ferry heading back to Johto for the next few days. "I can't believe it left at six AM," she grumbled loudly to herself, sitting down on an upside down shipping crate. "I don't want to stay in Lilycove that long!" She sighed and looked up at the sky. A group of Wingull passed by overhead, a few Pelipper in tow. After a few minutes she stood up and headed back to the ticket office, deciding to find out if there were any other boats leaving today other than the one that was going to Sinnoh.

"There's one leaving for Vermilion City in about half an hour," the bored-looking salesperson had told her. "It's not exactly a luxury cruise but that's the only other ship leaving port today." Vermilion was in Kanto, which was connected to Johto, so Riza figured it wasn't that much off. She purchased a ticket and then stood by the loading docks to wait until it was time to board. 'I'll be so glad to get out of Hoenn,' she thought. 'If I never come back here again it'll be too soon!'

"Oh, you would? That's fantastic!" Joy said, looking quite relieved. "There's a sick Pokemon in Hearthome that really needs this medicine, and soon. I'd take it myself, but I can't abandon my duties here. The trainers and Pokemon in Oreburgh are counting on me."

Katie nodded. "I understand. I'm not sure how quickly I can get there, but I will try."

"Oh, I have the perfect way for you to get there," Joy smiled. "Come with me." She lead Katie and Genki outside to the parking lot where several bicycles were chained up to a bike rack. "You can borrow one of our bikes and you'll get there in no time." She handed Katie a brown paper bag with a red '+' on it. "Just be careful not to drop the medicine."

"I'll be very careful with it," Katie said, carefully stowing the medicine in her backpack while the nurse unlocked the bike. "So I just take it to the pokecenter?"

Joy nodded. "Yes. The quickest route is if you head north up route 207, then head east and go through Mt. Coronet. Once you're on the other side, it's a quick ride through route 208 to Hearthome. I'll call the nurse in Hearthome to let her know you're on your way."

"That sounds easy enough," Katie nodded. "Well Genki, let's get going. A sick Pokemon is counting on us!" she said as she hopped on the bike. Genki jumped up on her back, very happy that he could still perch up there without much effort, and soon the duo was off to Hearthome City.
