Luckily, the adrenaline rush he had was still working, and Ripley made it up the cliff just fine. Well, besides that one moment where he thought he might fall....well, there had been a couple of those. But he shook those out of his mind as he scurried over the edge of the cliff. He sat at the top for a moment, catching his breath...easy as it had seemed, the cliff climb was still a bit of work.
The moment he took to catch his breath was small though. He kinda wanted to swing on that rope swing again. That was until he got to the egde of the pond again. And remembered those gators. They seemed like they wouldn't mind him falling off the swing. Ripley shook his head. He did this once already! It had been fun! It would be just as easy the second time! With a wide grin, Ripley reached out for the rope and readied himself for his second swing across the gator pit.

Oh god, his feet touched the other side safely. Noel was alright? Or did he die and was he a ghost... Nope he was alright. The mod looked back at the gators and shuddered. Why did he have to look back?
The mod was now at the last stretch of his first round.
That log didn't look safe. And. ... Beavers? Noel wanted to just walk away and just forget this challenge. Seriously, he didn't want to walk across that log.
But his team was counting on him. Yeah, sure. That was it. Taking in a few deep breaths the mod took his first step on the log. So far so good..

It was amazing when he reached the other side. Not once had he goofed up a challenge. Course, that was only one round. Did he want to go back and re do that entire course? No. But he was going to.
The mod needed to take a seat first and re grasp his nerves. He was shaking so bad right now after all that. The mod took a seat under a tree by the last challenge and just relaxed some. He'd need some calm nerves redoing that challenge.
(( Noels first round completed with no failures.
Note : Gonna redo the challenges later today = ] ))

Ripley's adrenaline and confidence (over-confidence) got the better of him. He didn't have a sure grip on the rope when he launched himself into the air. And once in the air...that fact became clear. For a moment, time seemed to slow as he discovered the rope was not in his hands, and he was in the open air above a pond filled with chomping gators.....with nothing to cling to. The next moment, he was wet (did he land in the pond, or was that from splashing pond water?) and thrashing about. A moment after that he was certain that he was inside a gator's mouth. That was something he had hoped to never re-live. Ripley wasn't sure how it had happened, but the next thing he knew he was back on shore. Had he fought a gator and won? Had a gator spit the mud-covered Audio out? Had he never been in a gator mouth and simply thrashed his way to shore? He didn't know. He didn't want to know. And he really didn't want to cross that thing again. He scurried a bit away from the pit, and sat.
He would have to go again. He had survived the fall into the gators...and he couldn't quite half-way. He couldn't do that to his team. He had completed this challenge once. He could do it again. Maybe the gators weren't all so bad.....this was his second encounter with them. And besides smelling like gator spit...he had lived through both encounters. He told himself all these things, and more (it would be bad for the show if someone actually died on it, right?) over and over. After a few minutes of convincing himself he could make it this time...Ripley slowly rose and moved towards the pond. This time he would make sure his grip on the rope was secure. Very secure.

That swing across the gator pond had been more fun than the previous attempt...but not nearly as much fun as the first time. Shaking, Ripley stood on the other side of the pond flexing his hands. He had been holding that rope very, very tightly. Somewhere in his mind he knew he would have nightmares about gators...again.
Slowly, he made his way to the log crossing. He was much more nervous about it this time. After his failure with the rope (he was trying not to think about the gators) he was not sure how he was gonna do this. He looked down at the balls....no way there were gators in there, right? The flying sea gulls seemed a lot less threatening that the though of more gators. "I did it once," he muttered, trying to encourage himself. "I can totally do this again!" He worked on positive thoughts...and charged towards the log. The charge and run blindly method had worked the first time...it would a second, right?

(( AGH s**t. This is Mouse, I posted without remembering I was on a mule. Sorry about that! D8 ))
Thanks to Chef Hatchet's personal spin on last night's campfire ceremony, Simon's night was a restless one, with panic episodes hazily slipping into exaggerated nightmares reflecting recent events. When he stumbled with the rest of the campers to the obstacle course, his level of consciousness couldn't easily be gauged by looking at him - indeed, he himself wasn't sure if this challenge was real or another product of his fear-addled mind. The only thing keeping him standing right now was pure andrenaline... thankfully, he'd be needing the buckets of it his body was producing to get through this.
Being tall, gangly and clumsy definitely did not serve him well at the wire crawl. By the time he got out of here - if I ever do, he thought glumly, his clothes would be riddled with pinholes and little tears where they got caught and tangled in the wire. The patch of ground he was crawling on was unpleasantly squishy underneath him. Little flecks of mud splattered on his glasses and all of this wriggling in it was all but erasing the cream-colored parts of his fur... and he could swear that somewhere along the way, a ping pong ball had gotten lodged in his ear.

Helena looked solemnly at the wire crawl. She had woken up to crawl in dirt and mud? Looking at her dress, she sighed. She didn't want to let her team down by not competing, but...her dress would get so dirty...Maybe she could wash it in the lake..oh, no..wait. The sharks would eat it. There had to be some way she could get it clean..
She crouched down and got on all fours. As she went underneath the wire, she tried to crawl just under the wire and just above the dirt as much as possible. As she heard the air whistling above her, she was too scared to stand up and brush some of the dirt off. Her dress even snagged on the wire several times before she made it through. As soon as it was clean, she would have to return to the cabin to mend it again..

Oh great... he had to climb something. Simon spent a couple of moments just staring dejectedly at the cliff until halfheartedly throwing himself at it. Climbing things was definitely not one of his strong point, and without any gear? Horrifying. He was lucky that his mud-slicked feet and fingers were able to grip any of the handholds he was flailing for. It was also good thing there was a field of mattresses below him, otherwise he'd have chickened out.

Oh God..a cliff? Campers had to climb THAT? She whimpered at the sight. Being afraid of heights did not help at all. She still wondered how she managed to force herself to jump off the cliff. She had her eyes closed of course. But climbing needed visuals. And these dreadful rocks would callous up her hands. Sighing again, she started her climb.
She seemed to be doing alright, as long as she kept looking up or straight forward. The she grabbed hold of a loose rock and as it fell, she lost her grip with her feet and was holding on with just one hand. Screaming, she flailed until she had a hold of the cliff again. Then she made it to the top, shaking from the ordeal.

Come on, almost there... just a couple more feet...
Hey wait. what was that beeping s-SHBLAAAM
Before he knew what hit him, Simon was back on the ground, his fall safely cushioned by a mattress. Dazed, he shook his head to get back to his senses. Was... was that a land mine he'd just hit? Oh god, he was wrong about Chef, this obstacle course could totally kill him. But he couldn't let his team down now, he wasn't even halfway yet... with a miserable groan he tackled the wall again.

Oh. God.
Ohgodohgodohgodohgod.
Chef couldn't be serious. This challenge... hey, wasn't this from some movie or an Atari game or something? Regardless, sheer panic from it was making Simon more and more awake by the minute. A shrill, girly shriek could soon be heard echoing from the obstacle course: that was Simon, swinging on a rope and screaming for his dear life.

Finally... almost... done... and hey, this part didn't look so bad! Sure, log balancing was harder than it looked, but at least it wasn't as life-threatening as--
...Those beavers looked angry. They kept glaring at Simon, chattering their teeth sinisterly as he began stumbling across the log, and then
SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The seagul narrowly missed him, instead getting lodged beak-first into the wood between his feet.
Ooookay. Okay, THISWASBAD.
There was more screaming as Simon ran across the log like an axe murderer was after him.

Unfortunately for Simon, he couldn't run quite fast enough, as about halfway across he was met with a seagull smack to the face. It got that annoying ping pong ball loose, but also knocked him off the log. So he had to swim like a maniac through a sea of plastic balls back to the beginning, avoiding angry beavers, and then start all over...
At least this time he knew running like hell was the best course of action.

Ripley had made it across the log again! At least he could seem to do that part right! However, he was not nearly as giddy as after his first run-through. Falling into the gator pond had been a bit traumatic...and killed his happy adrenaline rushed. Slowly, Ripley headed back towards the beginning of the course, debating whether or not to attempt it again. Originally, he had planned to do it the maximum number of times...but the thought of the gator pit truely frightened him.
Really, his only mistake had been not holding on to the rope properly. If he was certain to hold it correctly the gators wouldn't be a problem, right? And, he told himself again, remembering his thoughts from before, the gators hadn't actually killed him yet...surely they wouldn't if he fell in again. Yeah. They were smelly, and scary...but they hadn't actually killed anyone. So...surely he would be fine. He didn't really want to test the no killing theory....he had no plans to let go of that rope. He truly wanted to do the course again. He wanted to give his all in these challenges. And it had only been one failure out of two runs. That wasn't bad...right?
Summoning up all the courage he could scrape together, Ripley headed back towards the wire crawl. He wasn't really thinking about where to enter, it didn't matter, was already wet and covered in mud. "I can do this," he nodded, steeling his resolve and heading into the obstacle. He kinda liked this part...it made him feel like he was in an army movie or something. It was possible that Ripley was already forgetting about the gators he would see again shortly. ((Begin round 3!))

He had sailed through that wire crawl. Staying close to the ground was the key, apparently. The third time if felt a bit familiar, and he was pleased with himself as he exited it. Sure, he was muddier than before...but no one cared.
He quickly walked over to the second challenge, his friend the cliff. Thinking about it, this challenge also made him feel like he was in some kind of army film. Thoughts like that helped him dig up more courage...and forget about the gators that he would be facing after the cliff.
This part of the challenge wasn't so bad...he had done it twice. He could totally do it again. He inhaled deeply, then exhaled and started to reach for the cliff. "Up we go," he muttered for the third time.
