First.

The main focus in this picture are some close friends of mine, Raven and Casey. I took this picture while we were visiting friends at their ranch house north of Houston, Texas. The message of this particular photo is one of new love and caring of others. (They had no idea I was capturing them in time.) I took the picture like I did because I felt capturing it vertically with the trees overhead would pose better than capturing more of the landscape among them. Positioning them in the photo like I did, allowed not too much overhead foliage, and not too much landscape. The only thing I contributing in editing to this photo would be the frame, other than that, no editing was made.

Second.

The main focus in this picture is my iPod with the surrounding focus of my headphones. I took this picture while sitting at my desk. The message of this particular photo can convey a lot. For example, a sense of what may have the previous user been listening to, or a mysterious feel. The music I listen to usually allows me to get lost into it. I captured it so that the iPod's bold writing stood out from inside the headphones to catch the viewers attention, instead of the busy writing on the headphones. The only contribution of editing I did to this photo would be the border I put around it that you can't even see, except at the top right and bottom left.

Third

The main focus of this capture was the seagulls. I took this picture while strolling back to the vehicle in Galveston, Texas with my fiance and two of our friends when I noticed a family feeding these seagulls a loaf of bread. There were tons of them! I love birds so I took that opportunity to try and get a nice shot of them. The feel of this photo is to be one of happiness and freedom. Can you imagine the nice breeze flowing through their feathers as they glide across the air? I took the photo in a vertical fashion to capture as many as the seagulls as I could, without it being too crowded. The only editing I did to this photo was the border and maybe a slight change in the brightness/contrast. (I can't remember too well, I have a horrid memory!)

Fourth and Final.

The main focus in this picture is the charm on my medical bracelet. I took this picture while sitting in the passenger seat of our car. The message I'm trying to portray with this photo is one of course, of hope. To have hope never to give up on living, no matter what your disease (or your life if you don't have one) throws at you. You always have hope. I took the photo in this manner to try and get the best view of the charm on the bracelet. It was a really hard capture considering it's on the side of my wrist and I can only use one hand to try and get the picture while trying not to shake (all while being in a car). The only editing of this photo that I did was add the border. I try not to edit the photo at all cost.

Photo Submission #3 - Spiffeh Cupcake Title: On the side of a street Original fullsize Image: Click here
Note: I don't believe this picture is on my dA. I did my watermark slightly different this time because I'm too lazy to emboss & enlarge the text.Printed in the darkroom, burned (near the car door in order to darken the reflection), no digital editing/enhancing. This is a picture of a shiny BMW rims. The rims are aesthetically pleasing to me because of its circular, yet pentagonal, shape. I love this picture because of its strong composition. The rigidness of the rims instill a sense of confidence. It is strong and sturdy, and thus dependable. This is not the type of car that will leave you stranded in the middle of a highway -- this is the kind of car that will take you safely home, whenever and wherever. I was also compelled to take this picture because of the car's reflective nature. This picture was taken near Battery Park, which is in downtown Manhattan (the business section of Manhattan). I felt that it was appropriate that the car reflects the various skyscrapers that surround it -- in fact, the car accompanies the lifestyle depicted by those skyscrapers.

Photo Submission #4 - Spiffeh Cupcake Title: Look up, you'll be surprised to find what you see Original fullsize Image: Click here Note: I don't believe this picture is on my dA. I did my watermark slightly different this time because I'm too lazy to emboss & enlarge the text.Printed in the darkroom, perfect print (no burn/dodge/filter at all), no digital editing/enhancing. I took this picture when I went on a field trip to an abandoned hospital in Staten Island. The hospital treated patients of all ages that were infected with tuberculosis -- infants, childrens, adults, elderly, the disabled, etc. I discovered an old playground in one part of the hospital, and there was an old basketball hoop in the far corner, which was surrounded by trees. I suppose the trees were there to provide shade for the children, but then again, it just might be Staten Island -- there's a lot of trees there, probably because it's an island that no one loves has less population than the rest of New York City and thus, it gets to retain its "woody" nature. I love playgrounds, so I decided that I would take a picture. I wanted to re-create the playground as it was 50 years ago, and tried to take a picture from a child's point of view. And I thought, what better way to do that than to stoop (literally and figuratively) to their level? I got down on one knee, and aimed my camera lens at the basketball hoop. I realized that there were tree branches in the background that would prove to be very distracting if I were to simply take a shot. So, I decided to open up my aperture. I focused on the rim of the basketball hoop, opened up my aperture to F2.4, steadied myself and took a shot. The wide aperture blurred the tree branches, transforming them into little dots instead (often mistaken as stars). Rather than distracting, they've become interesting little dots! smile

Entry #3 What's the main focus: The flower and how the sun hits it. Where you took the photo: My back yard. What message you want to convey via the picture: How beautiful life can be on any simple day. Why did you take the picture that way: I actually just was bored while I was waiting for my friends to pick me up and started taking pictures of the plants around my yard. I liked how the sun hit this particular flower, so I took a picture that showed that nicely. Editing: Cropped, and adjusted the brightness and contrast slightly. The full photo

Submission 1 - Madison & Her Hippo Larger ImageDigital Photo This is a photo of my boss's daughter that i took a couple weeks ago while babysitting her at her house in Garrison, TX. I wanted to capture the innocence, and love that children have. and how the smallest things can make them feel secure. Madison was jumping on her pink hippo chair, fell on her booty, then cuddled up to it. you could tell that the hippo made her happy, and that is what i wanted to capture. I didn't edit this photo in any way, I took it off my memory card, and uploaded it. i don't know that i answered #4, but i'm not sure how to answer that one...

Submission 2 - Madison in the Dirt Larger ImageDigital Photo Another picture of Maddy, this time at the pond by her house. Again, like all my photos of kids, I like to capture the pure joy that children have! You see there is nothing around her but the dirt, and she couldn't be happier! she would grab a handful of dirt, and fling it into the pond, and she just thought it was the funniest thing! Children should be this happy all the time... children shouldn't have to see/deal with the ugly side of things... they should just be kids! Again, no edits made, just taken off my memory card, and uploaded.
