It really amazes me at how they put the shows together and cram it with so much stuff in 30 or whatever minutes and make it interesting. I don't remember what episode I was watching, but so much stuff went on that I thought the shows were an hour long. It's like they hit that perfect spot between crammed and hurried and sparse and boring. Just something I thought of. Some of the movies could have used that same formula, too.

I guess that's their response to peoples complaints. "Oh, well we'll just make fun of ourselves and it will be hilarious. Ha ha ha."

They should have written Lupin's response as "Well, it's not my fault the people at FUNimation are total retards."

I never watch the dubbed versions, so I didn't know they pronounce Goemon wrong.

It's just another straw on the camel's back.
They used to say it decently, except for Sonny Straight who said "Go-E-mn". Which is an odd way to say it, but I think that's how he actually talks. Can't really complain about that...
But, yeah, now they all say something close to Go-E-man/mon.
I don't know. I try to block out FUNi dubs. gonk

I watched an Anime called Monster like that, it was only a half hour but it took me an hour to explain, it was just so full of stuff. It was very cool, and I'm gonna get the Manga since it's coming out soon. The Anime isn't, though.
Fansubs. wink
*ahem, back to Lupin*
Some of the movies suffer from "filler". That stuff that doesn't add anything to the story but is there anyway.
I feel the Gemini was almost entirely filler, and Babylon had alot. Like the Beauty Contest and Zenigta's new "partners"...
I think First Contact got it right, and Cagliostro. Mamo was good, though it has one of the weirdest Lupin endings ever. xd
I wish everything was written with more First Series/Manga in mind, because those were some of the best.

Does anyone know exactlly how many LupinIII movies funimation has created all together? I only know of 5. sweatdrop
Secret of the Twilight Gemini, Voyage to Danger, Dragon of Doom, Harimao's Treasure, Farewell to Nostradamus, Dead or Alive, Crisis in Tokyo, The Columbus Files, Missed by a Dollar, Island of Assassin

That's the list I have from awhile ago, although Missed By A Dollar (stupid title in my opinion) isn't out yet.

FUNi's new date for release is early 2006 now.
'Missed By A Dollar" is actually fairlt close ti the Japanese title, which "$1 Dollar Money Wars".
I do wonder why Funi doesn't use any of the original titles...

Has anyone else seen Operation Return The Treasure? Except for the weird ending I thought it was pretty great. The intro especially was quite exciting.

Oh, man, also, I just recently got Tokyo Crisis on DVD (And Castle of Cagliostro! biggrin ), and on a whim, decided to check out bad the funimation dub was... wow! It was sort of funny how Lupin kept calling Jigen 'Jiggen'. But, man, really. It's like the voice directors there just don't care at all.

Also, I watched Return of Pycal, and, uh... Did anyone hate this one as much as me? It's so bad. I wanted to like it, Pycal was awesome in the comic. Oh well.

I enjoyed Operation Return the Treasure. Except the bad subtitles, which made parts of it more confusing than it should have been. sweatdrop

Return of Pycal was.........yeah. I don't know. The writing on it was just sad. Surely someone could have come up with a better story than that. xp

Operation return the treasure (Or ORTT) Is one that I really like! But, Twonk, I agree, the subtitles were really bad.

Return of Pycal.....Hhmm.....Well, I like te first series episode, but I hate the movie. The plot was half-conceived and the computer animation was really bad...... gonk

Ugh...yeah. Pycal was a bad movie all around. I spent most of my time laughing at the bad CG and stupid plot points than humor in the movie.

Did anyone else find the very last thing with the old guy and the harp disappearing trick to be horribly confusing and inexplicable? It's at the dead end of the film. sweatdrop

I still wouldn't say it's the worst Lupin film to date because of Dead or Alive (IMO the worst) but it's far down my list.

I did still laugh at Pycal...the 2nd or 3rd time you see it, it gets funnier in that tragic sort of way that. It's really fit more for a drinking game than a Lupin flick.

I heard that Funimation has come to the end of the Lupin movie licences they bought (they bought them in a set bunch) This makes me concerned about the unlicensed movies since Lupin doesn't sell well her comparatively to most series. I could see Funimation not picking up any more of the movies, and who knows if Geneon would go for the licences...

I found all of Return of Pycal confusing and inexplicable, whatever inexplicable means. xd

As for FUNimation, they may have done a bad job on the dubs, but at least they did Lupin fans a favor and released some of the movies over here. sweatdrop All these stupid anime snobs and their "lyk omg lupin is retrded" seem to rule the anime viewing and releasing here. mad

Dead or Alive wasn't the greatest, but I'd sure pick it over Pycal. 3nodding I thought the ending fight scene was pretty awesome in DoA. And I think they made Pycal after playing a drinking game. The "drink one bottle of beer per every minute Lupin is in this episode" game.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 29, 2006 11:40 pm

hahahahaha... This... is a GOOD game. I think I have to try this one out. Don't you, Fujiko?

Let's see... one bottle of beer per muinite Lupin is on screen... times bout ten TV series DVDs, and about 11 movie DVDs.... I may die of alchohol poisoning. Oh s**t... forgot fansubs... Yup, I'm gonna die. but it's gonna ba a FUN death~

On a side note... Dead or Alive was NOT a lupin movie. To count as a lupin movie, Lupin actally has to be IN it. >__>

sweatdrop From the way you were typing, I would think you already had started that game, Lupin. The spell-check feature is right above in the tool bar cool ...and yes, I will play this game with you, but for only one episode. I don't want to die from alcohol poisoning.

That first scene was funny, but it was kinda ruined for me a bit when the movie kept skipping and having to be restarted at AX. In all, we sat through that scene 3 times consecutively and never were able to finish the film...then shooed out of the viewing room with Burst Angel -__-
I had to catch the rest of it at Otakon...which meant sitting on my knees to see over the sea of people.
My exposure to Dead or Alive went over pretty badly from the start, so that doesn't help how I viewed it, but I think I have to rank it lowest because Lupin seemed to just be making cameos (as dear 'drunk' Lupin pointed out above me, my date for that at AX)
Pycal was bad...but the live fish made me laugh, and Lupin and most of the cast had the majority of the screen time, which is why it takes presidnece for me.

Has anyone watched $1 Money Wars yet? We just watched it a few days ago, and I both loved and hated parts of it.

I loved Zenigata and his crying/drunk scenes...
Lupin was hillarious and cool (a good movie for him)

The plot was terrible and predictable, like they sometimes are.
I hated just about every second Fujiko was on scene crying she could not have been more off, and Geomon was a dissapointment.

I thought it was all right. Not the best, but not the worst. I got confused with Jigen's guns. Made me think of his gun like a dog that would come back to him when it got lost. xd They made Fujiko very cold and unlikable, not that I like her character very much anyway, but yeah, it was worse than usual. Sometimes I hate the fact that they stick all the characters in the movies because most of the times they usually are lacking.
