Faolan chuckled, hugging her to his side a bit, and kissed the top of her head. "And let that be a lesson to the rest of your furniture." He sighed softly, almost glad for once to have had an episode so he could stay. "It ain't that we don't all worry on each other, we're just so used to things, I guess. It's hard for someone to be concerned that I've passed out again when someone might've been hurt during an act or while putting up one of the rides. It's just a matter of priorities, I guess. By the way, where is your dad? He's not going to suddenly burst in here with a shotgun and demand I marry you or something, is he?"

Ellandra's face fell a little and she snuggled a bit closer to Faolan. "P-papa died a-about five years ago now," she said quietly. "H-he had a stroke. . . " She trailed off, unable to elaborate any further. She also didn't add that she'd been completely alone ever since, aside from the recent friendships she'd started forming and her fear-hate relationship with her editor. It wasn't important; she was happy enough, after all.
Moreso now than ever.

Foa silently cursed himself for being stupid and not watching what he said. He moved his head to look down at her, hugging her close to him. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean . . ." He shrugged, not sure how to finish that. "If . . . if it helps, you can have my dad. I'm sure he won't mind trading up from having a con-artist son with a bad ticker to having a pretty daughter that's a famous writer."

Ellandra shook her head "D-don't be upset, please.... my f-father was... already r-rather old when I w-was born...." She tilted her head a little so that she could look up at him, and frowned a bit. "And d-don't say thing l-like that. B-besides, I'm n-not famous; no-one knows I exist, r-really."
Well, no more than a handful of people, anyway.

"I know you exist," Faolan purred, stroking her cheek.
Ziazan peered over the edge of the table at the couple, happy to see them so close. It didn't have to worry about constantly reminding Fao to get ready for work and a night off from fortune telling sounded nice. The Essentic fluttered down to rest on Fao's stomach and settled down, curling up like a cat.
Foalan patted the creature. "This turned out to be a rather good day, even with the fainting."

"I-it might have been b-better without it," Ellandra said softly, smiling at Ziazan as it curled up on Faolan's stomach. "Did you enjoy yourself searching through my things, little Ziazan?" She reached out and gently stroked along the edge of one wing.

"I don't know, Elle. Fainting got you all curled up against me, so I can't complain on that," Faolan pointed out.
Ziazan opened one eye and looked up at Ellandra when addressed. "Indubitably." Then it went back to snoozing on its owner's belly.

"I - I suppose you can't," Ellandra agreed amicably, sighing a bit. "S-still, it would have been better h-had the coffee table n-not been there." She blinked a bit and frowned, reaching a hand up to his head, hovering over it without touching. "D-does your head still hurt? Do - do you need me to get you anything. . . .?"

Faolan shook his head. "It's just a small bump. I didn't even bleed or lose a horn. It's all good." He gave her the thumbs-up, showing he was alright, despite the bruise just to the left of his left horn. He moved around, slowly sitting up and managing to keep her and Ziazan cradled against him. "Think I'll move to your couch now, if you don't mind. My butt is getting a bit numb from the floor."

Ellandra frowned and shook her head. "Y-you're getting the bed, you're st-still not well," she said, wrinkling her nose. "Besides, m-my couch is t-too small for you; I - f-fit on it w-well e-enough, th-though."

"I'm not taking your bed and making you sleep on the couch. You go stay in your room. I'm tall, but very compact. I'll just curl up," Faolan insisted, pulling back from her so he could get to his feet. "I'll be alright out here."

"No," Ellandra insisted, scowling. "Y-you're my guest, a-and you're not well! Y-you get the bed!"

"It's your home, you get to have the bed. Don't be put out on my account," Faolan said, not budging on the issue.
Ziazan yawned and opened its eyes. "Why not shut it and you both take the bed? Faolan, you need the rest and, Ellandra, he won't do anything you don't want him to. He's very besotted with you and--"
Faolan put a hand over the Essentic's mouth. "She gets it, Zia." He looked at Ellandra. "But its right. I wouldn't do anything to you that you didn't ask me to. Bed or couch, I'm starting not to care where I rest now, but if you make me sleep in the bed, you're going to be in it right beside me and if you insist on staying on the couch, then I'm sleeping on the floor beside you." He was rather adamant about this.

Ellandra blushed and paused for a moment. When she considered it, really, Ziazan was right. Faolan wouldn't do anything to hurt her, and he really did need the rest.
"A-all right. Z-ziazan's got the best idea. . ." She wasn't actually going to word it outright - she wasn't sure she could bring herself to say the words -, but she hoped Faolan would understand regardless.

"Of course it's the best idea. I thought of it," Ziazan chirped, looking up at them.
Faolan looked from the Essentic in his arms to her, blushing a little. He was adamant about her sleeping in the bed, but the idea that she really was going to share it with him, even just to sleep, had him a little at a loss for words . . . which was an all together new experience for him. He licked his lips nervously and nodded. "Which room's yours?"
