Exactly.
I was actually getting really annoyed and offended that I was being called a Vile, horrible person.
Along with everyone else when I know damn well, we're not horrible people. gonk
This made me want to get my katanas in rl out. It was so offensive to me, I don't believe I've ever been offended that badly. And of course, not one apology. I'm confused...... Again.....

I did move it to the recycle bin and lock it. We are not allowed to delete posts. Besides, how would the other people who potentially got offended even more who is not a mod, do that? Coco you're against the wall, it's everyone vs you.

Either way, it is up to the owner and the Mods of this Guild to make the Rant Thread or Subforum.
It is THEIR choice and if they want to make it, well, there ya go.
We have a rant thread.
If not, then we are just going to keep taking up more space in the Guild with random rants and bitching.
If you don't want to read it or have anything to do with it, that is your choice, if you do, then get to reading/posting.
Do remember, there WILL be rules when/if it is made so certain things won't be allowed.
No one here is going to post something to flame or embarrass someone and be completely hateful.
People in this Guild are smart, they are not stupid.
I must point out that if we were as intelligent as we used to be, there would be no need for a rant thread, and people would have the common sense to not say any kind of offensive or potentially offensive material. And even rants can be posted politely. Also, cleo is the only one with the power to make a subforum, and it's not as if anyone could stop her. It's up to cleo and if she feels she has enough support. I'm like the President. Congress (you) provides ideas and suggestions, then the president (I) have the final say. of course (like when we did the recycle bin), y'all can nag enough and overthrow my vote. gonk heart But I don't think we need a rant subforum. And secondly . . . rants aren't meant to be polite. "Gee whiz, I'm really unhappy with my mom right now! Gosh, darn!" That doesn't resolve anyone's anger. Would you rather them flip out and ramble on, using an excessive amount of swear words and spilling their guts . . . or would you prefer if they started hurting themselves, others, or objects because they couldn't find a more productive way to release their anger?

Coco you're against the wall, it's everyone vs you. It doesn't matter what we did with it. Secondly, I didn't find anything wrong with the thread. There was a lot of discussion. It was a debate. There was disagreement. For the most part, it was pretty civilized. But what you did say WAS a hateful remark. It doesn't matter what the reaction is, it was still hateful. The fact is, you said something hateful about everyone. Deragatory about their personalities. That, right there, is against the very rules you quoted.

Besides, if you don't want to see something hateful, then don't go in there. Don't argue against something you won't even use anyway. It's like those people arguing against Gay Marriage. Ranting in itself cannot be considered against the ToS. If you have a problem, you put the problem out, and you discuss it. If anyone has thin enough skin to be insulted by something that has absolutely nothing to do with them, they should stay out of the rant thread/subforum. It's like Cleo saying your font color insults her. Or it's like me saying the picture in your post-style offends me, or like me saying that your avatar offends me because of how nude it is. We're going to have to suck it up, deal with it, and not look. If the guild has a lot of hateful content that is MADE AVAILABLE then it is reportable. It's not a matter of not looking. Define "a lot." And also get a mod to tell you that a rant is ban-able. Do that and I'll concede. Until you can prove that the rant subforum would be a problem, you have no ground to stand on. Moving on, as far as rules go, rants should attempt to remain polite, though I (as one who rants every now and then) know how difficult that is. We should probably have a mod who can dedicate their time to looking at threads/posts and cleaning them up fairly quickly. Probably a waste of a mod, but I'll volunteer (for when I have time). Also if the rant pretends to a certain person, details about said person should be left out and only the issue should show up. After all, one can't go after a nameless, shapeless figure. If the rant pretends to a certain group of people, it should be attempted to keep the rant about the individuals in the group and the conflict between the ranter and the individuals. Blanket statements should be avoided.

That to me counts as ranting about a person, even if they don't have a Gaia account. Okay. Then it's settled. Now, if there are no other objections, perhaps we could begin to form the rules and guidelines that it would need? Okay, so beacause one person get offended I can't rant about my mother? Brother? Father? Or anyone else I may know in rl?

The reason I don't condone deleting of threads or posts is because by deleting it, you are removing evidence of what occured. The thing is, you can undo what you posted. But you can't undo how you affected others. What you say or do to people is permanent. So should posts be. The only time a post should be deleted is (I mean, excusing silly things like accidental double posting or something), is when it's a security threat (like a scam) or something incredibly vulgar (like porn).

Everyone is vile. It's human, nae, living thing nature. This nature, and the nature of consequence(Positive and negative), balance eachother out in the end. It's not possible for something to act selflessly to the absolute. Even the Jedi are drivin by it, in the form of wishing to maintain the balance. And this doesn't make them evil. Buuut...... I digress.

Another guild of mine has a rant thread and it works wonders. <3 You just have to know what kind of rules you need to set to the thread. For that rant thread, you're only allowed to post a rant, and cannot under any circumstances post anything else in that thread besides a rant. If any user does, they get one warning. Next offense, they were banned. If the user wants advice, they're supposed to put "want advice" at the end and the conversation will take place in PMs. If they don't want advice, they simply put "don't want advice".
Anyway, that's what the rules were like for that thread. If we do make one, it'd be wise to do something similar so things don't get out of hand.
