CelestialCupcake i haven't played on the sims for months! if i do start playing again you'll know because i shall disappear! My thoughts exactly. I do not want to get involved in my Sims before I leave for FLA next week... but I have been thinking more and more that might be my next obsession upon my return. Goodness knows obsessing on Neopets (for a loooooong time now) and Gaia has not served the greater good redface

well it's happened, all this Sims talk recently has got me downloading again, i've renewed my subscription for TSR, gone for a year this time, and spent a few hours collecting items from various places last night, one of the items being a box of giant Pocky blaugh i also paid out the princely sum of $5 to Holy Simoly for their donation pack, 120 items altogether! simply because they have the most fabulous 50's style fridge and i had to have it!

well i'm a bit peeved now, i've been simming this afternoon, i found quite a few festive items to download today so i decided to create a winter lot, got all the snow and festive trees in and started on the house, what i really wanted was a round tower, but i settled for hexagonal, going up a couple of floors then bring the walls in abit, until it was too narrow to get stairs in anymore, also until the room was small enough for me to be able to use one of the pointy castle roofs that i've got. Then i find that you can't go up more than 3 floors!! That's so unfair evil i've got the 4th floor walls in and couldn't understand why i couldn't put another floor about it, or a roof on it, but it would seem that 3 is the limit, unless you can manage something clever with dormers mad

That's weird... I know I've built a house with more than 3 floors. In fact.. I remember building one that was 3 living floors and the very top floor was like a balcony only nestled inside the roof dormers. It was very fancy for a simple house. If I remember correctly I could have gone up 4 living floors. If I'm wrong, I'm sure there are user-made patches out there that will allow you to build up more floors. I don't know what it would be to search for though.

i wonder if it would have made a difference if i hadn't put a foundation layer in, i don't suppose it would though, i did try to put a dormer on top of the fourth floor walls but i couldn't, i must say i don't think i could be bothered to go hunting for patches. one thing i will ask though, does anyone know how to install ready made lots? i have tried downloading residential lots before, i read the installation instructions on some site which told me to put them into the lotcatalogue folder instead of the downloads one, which i did, but they don't show up in the game cry

I don't exactly remember how to install them. Usually they come as a simpackage file and you can just double click on them to install them. You can tell... they have the sims logo as the icon. The ones that are just normal package files, oh goodness, I've always put them in my downloads folder and they worked alright for me. You are playing Sims2 right? Let me know and I'll get information for you.

Try to look at the file you downloaded and see if it's a sims2package file or if it's a normal package file. Usually windows will show the file extension if it's an unrecognized file type. If it has the sims logo as the icon then you don't have to do anything extra to it. Just double click it and it'll walk you through the installation. Of course... depending on which sims2 expansion pack you have and what it's compatible with. It'll tell you on the installation. If you can see the file extension.. I think it's .package... I'm not sure... but if it's something like that then it should go in your downloads folder and work ok. Same EP rules apply though. If you don't have the correct EP it's compatible with it won't show in the game.

After posting i went to have a look in the lotcatalogue folder, the lots i'd downloaded were there, i use the Sims2pack clean installer that i downloaded from Modthesims2 i think, and 3 logos for that were there nestling in the folder, so i double clicked each and manually installed the lots, and they are in the game now blaugh so i think i'll be looking for some more now 3nodding xd

biggrin i was excited to get a chance to install one of the houses as i wanted to see inside it! it's a rendition of a real building somewhere in the north of England, it spans a stream so the base is an arched bridge, with just 2 rooms above it, i assume in the real building there's a tiny spiral staircase, but in the game building you need to go outside to get upstairs lol i kitted it out yesterday in as medieval a look as i could manage and gave my Sim a flowing gown, now i need to download more medieval items to complete the look blaugh

I've installed my Sims again, and remembered this thread, so here it is razz
The Sims that I have right now is the Deluxe Edition, with the regular Sims and The Sims Living Large. So, can I download off of some of these sites, or do I have to have later expansion packs to be able to do that?
