Berries

"Amélie-" Came a deep, sharp voice from somewhere amongst a brightly summer leafed grotto. Almost on cue, a small grey female stepped out from behind some blackberry bushes, licking her chin from where she had been eating. The juice was a murderous purple, and it took quite a few efforts to remove it from her pale pelt. From behind her, a large and domineering black male appeared, his face looking vexed and grey fur standing out more then usual.

"No, no!" The female retorted, and danced a quick circle around the bush, making him have to step past the briars again. "I think we are having an argument, and I am not to be continuing it-" She spoke, although from the wayward tone in her voice, there was some question as to how serious about the argument she was.

"Bah-" Phib muttered, pulling his fur free from the blackberry bushes, and stepping around again. By this time however, she had already crossed the other side again, keeping the thorny bush between them. Aghast, Phib snorted, and shook his head. "How are you even doing this anyways?" He remarked, having been stuck at least four times by the nasty thorns- while Amélie, deadened blind sight and all, seemed relatively unobscured.

"The bush must like me- unlike Phib!"

"Amélie!" He groaned, and shook his head. The female giggled, and rounded the bush again, but this time, Phib was fed up with chasing after her. "Would you stay still for a moment?"

She did, miraculously, and sidled herself up besides him. "Such a grouch face." She frowned, and shook her head slowly.

"You're driving me crazy." He spoke simply, and sighed.

"I know." She smiled, and leaned lazily against him.

--------------------------------------

"Get over it, wolf. Voices are not always danger, equal."

The slim, mud-and-blood colored wolf, the target of the berating words, cast a sidelong glance at his companion. A companion that, so far, every other wolf they've met has been surprised by at the least, and fascinated by for most. Not strange, that. Lancaster was, after all, no wolf, but a fox.

"I know, but-"

"Weakling, be, if you fear merely sound." The fox snorted derisively. He travelled with Duhkha for reasons that he kept only to himself, though he seemed to be taking the other's inferiority complex more and more to heart as time went on.

"Sometimes it's smart to be afraid."

"Sometimes." A raised brow ridge conveyed what Lancaster thought sometimes counted as, and what the rest of the comment was.

Neither of the two seemed to be aware (or care) that their bickering was just as noticeable as the voices that had originally triggered the conversation. Duhkha'd even gotten distracted enough to not notice how very close they were to the strange voices now...

-------------------------------------------------------------

She was so small leaning against him, the her shoulder fit somewhere against the crook of his ribs rather then his shoulder. Even her mass was nearly half the size of him, and from their sitting angle she bore more resemblance to a large coyote rather then a wolf. She'd always been frail, he noted-

Amélie's ears perked, as a faint tickle fluttered at the back of her mind. "Someone is coming, yes?" She righted her posture and rose, her deadened blue eyes struggling to absorb what minor sight she achieved from the vibrations around her. Sharpening, but still dim. It would take some time before she developed it enough to see more then a halo. Phib was a bit sorry to feel her pull away.

But he didn't need to be a seer to know a fox was coming- there was a particular odor to foxes that was totally foreign to any other creature. His nose flinched and he snorted, before rising up and turning himself around towards the direction Amélie seemed to be floundering it. Lightly he bumped her shoulder with his to get her to stop.

"---smart to be afraid." Suddenly rolled out from behind some of the blackberry bushes, and the older male perked his ears in slow consideration. Although he wasn't concerned about this recent development, he didn't particularly feel like greeting others either.

Luckily, Amélie already made the choice for him. "Hello!" She called softly, stepping forward somewhat clumsily and wagging her tail towards the bushes and tree.

---------------------------------

Lancaster smirked, Duhkha froze.

Immediately and unconciously shifting his body into an unassuming posture, the wolven half of the pair turned his attention from Lancaster to the two in front of him. His eyes settled on Phib, first- a big wolf, in Duhkha's mind, made larger by his companion, and imposing with his scars. Best not to speak with him unless spoken to, in order to avoid doing anything he wasn't supposed to.

With that in mind, yellow eyes slid towards Amélie, and took heart in her friendliness. It certainly helped that she was about as intimidating as Lancaster was when he was sunning on his back...

".. Hello." He returned her greeting just as softly.

Lancaster, however, studied Amélie unabashedly and, dismissing her as a threat, appraised Phib fearlessly. Let Duhkha handle the small talk.

--------------------------------

An echo-, and she made sure it kept quite. No need to poke around, her mind needed to learn to not be so reflexive. From his soft hello she could get a general proximity of herself and he, and calmly she took four steps forward until she was just a few feet from him. "Hehe, hello. I am Amélie-- and you both?" She spoke, settling herself down before them. She found herself particularly interested in the fox- she'd never met one before. Although she knew they were much closer to wolves then any of the other animals she had met before. A critical mind- she noted. Not different from a wolf's thoughts. There really was less of a boundary between people then others liked to admit.

Phib could be many things, but the old king wasn?t rude. His pale eyes flecked towards the pair, noting the sharp eyes of the fox's and the cautious nature of the wolf. A vagabond? It seemed likely; you didn?t see too many packed wolves with accomplices. Although he didn?t doubt one could benefit from it. "Good afternoon." He spoke, his voice thick.

The small grey peeped and nodded her head in agreement.

--------------------------------

Benifit from this odd companionship, both did. For Lancaster's part, well, who knew what else besides the hardship of hunting a proper amount of food was eased, for he never gave the impression that he might have been lonely once. For Duhkha, it was Lancaster more than anyone who was lashing his too-shy attitude from him, bit by bit. Whether one would believe it or not, he had once been worse than he is. And besides, he had starved for company before he'd run into the fox.

"My name is Duhkha." His voice kept it's low volume, but his ears perked forward, encouraged by the continueing friendly attitude. He faced Phib briefly, when the black wolf spoke, lowering his head in a sort of unconcious bow. Reacting to the confidence he had? Most probably. "good afternoon."

"Lancaster, I." The fox introduced himself to Phib and Amelie, through his thick vulpine accent. Similar to wolves, the foxes definitely were, but they didn't speak the other's tongue easily.

------------------------------

"Hello Duhkha." Amélie smiled affectionately. A shy one, but he had a good heart. "Were you to be eating blackberries? They're ripened, and I don't think the birds have found out about it yet." Actually, they had, but they were waiting for a rather large coalition of three wolves and a fox to move out of the way. "Phib doesn?t like them much. They've got pricklers, but, they are very good." She explained, her voice flowing rather smoothly despite the fact that she was obscuring her speech.

The accent of the fox was hard for the other male to get used to. He knew some other wolves- perhaps this Duhkha included, that were able to speak with other animals with little problem. But the need had never risen for him to really converse with anyone other then a wolf, and for a moment it was hard for him to make out what had been said.

His name is Lancaster. Amélie echoed, her ears perking and the end of her tail shifting. Phib shook his head towards her private comment to him, and rose to his feet.

"Quite a party, a fox and a wolf." He spoke, but he meant it in an amiable nature. "Are you headed someplace?"

-------------------------------

"Blackberries?" Duhkha's nose twitched, and he glanced towards the bushes. "I hadn't thought of it. Perhaps.."

"Perhaps, nothing." Lancaster snorted. "Eat- yes, no. No perhaps."

An embarrassed smile from the shy wolf, and he eased his way towards the juicy food. "I think... I'll try them, then. I haven't eaten them often." That, earning a satisfied look from Lancaster, settled that. While his friend busied himself with maneuvering around the thorns, the fox refocussed his attention on Phib.

"Someplace, noplace." He shrugged slim shoulders. "You, the same?" He cocked his head, ears full forward, with the question. He thought it only fair that what information he gave be returned by information in kind..

-----------------------------------

"Eat, yes?" Amélie smiled, and rose to her feet as Duhkha moved sheepishly from the fox and towards the bushes. "It isn?t quiet summer yet, but the heat is making for nice berries. They're very fat, but they do have pricklers, so that won't make for much good if you prickle yourself." She rambled, keeping a slight trace on him so she was able to effectively move past Phib and the others with little complication. Once surrounded by the bushes, she daintily stalked around them once, leaned her head in, and pulled a small purple berry from the brush. Exactly how she did it, Phib wasn?t really sure.

His head turned back towards the fox, who was addressing him, although it took a few moments for his mind to grasp the dialect. "No where- following her." He ambled, slightly shaking his head. "We live to the south of here, but she and the rest of the pack already cleaned out the bushes there." It was mostly her, admittedly.

Touch and go

"MOVE FASTER!" the small voice boomed. A small voice from a small host, and no one could have imagined a puppy could sound like... that, for lack of a better word.

Sosay snarled at Retsu as he barely managed to claw his way up the pile of rocks. It wasn't even the climbing that made it difficult: It was the climbing and not dropping the pink, black, white and very much unconcious and bloody puppy held between his teeth.

"Come on!" Sosay demanded, sharply turning left and dashing through the trees. Quite a sight, the three of them.

Because he was such a good little story teller, Sosay could have easily said in a very believeable way he had a clue where he was going, he knew what to do, and he had a plan.

Fact of the matter, the paniced spotted puppy was just...running.

------------------------

She was dreaming- that she knew. Perhaps one of the better features to being a seer was that although her dreams got more vivid, she was more and more aware that she was not really awake. It was a hanging state. She felt, somewhere in her sleep she could stretch out much further then she did when she was awake. But that didn?t always mean she did. There were nights she dreamed crazy things of purple grasses and red skies, owls and other strange happenings of the day. It was numbing. She dreamed of the whales she'd spoken to with Rio, and their strange songs, and how they called for--

--Going faster? Blearily she shifted in her sleep and flinched, kicking the ends of her paws. No, that wasn't right. The whales hadn't said that. She remembered Rio and her bobbing in the surf, and then they were carrying? that hadn't happened either!

She heard from somewhere out at the sea. Odd- she hadn't remembered the whales sounding quite like that either.

"Wake up," The voice said again, and slowly, she opened her eyes and peered about. But for her vision, the process of waking up had not lift her from shadows.

"Mmph?" Amélie yawned, stretching out her legs. "What?"

"I'm going for a walk." She heard Phib say. She supposed the intention was to get her to come- he didn?t normally wake her up when he went on strolls anyway. Sleepily she shivered against the fading light and stretched, rising up onto the balls of her feet and quickly picking pace up with him before she lost her bearings.

"Where are we going?" She yawned again, her voice momentarily unobscured.

"No where. I just want to walk." He rumbled, and she didn?t ask more.

--------------------

It was hard to explain why or how, and in doing so those who knew both parties would've either laughed or called him crazy. It was true, though. Retsu was more intimidated by Sosay, despite him being a puppy, than by Phantom.

Sure, Phantom was off his rocker and larger than most. He knew how to throw his weight around for sure. But Sosay was... Something else. He told those simple little stories that amused so many. They didn't realize it went deeper than that.

"RETSU! HURRY UP!" the pup barked. The omega would've nodded, but doing so would jolt the puppy in his jaws, so he avoided it and continued going.

It was a minute more before they were within sight of the other two wolves. Sosay narrowed his eyes carefully, then rolled his head back over his shoulder toward the Heartless. "Who are they?"

Somehow, Retsu managed to muffle the words in an understandable way, "The grey ones name is Ryoku, I believe. I do not know the male."

"And?"

"And... She was nice when I spoke with her. Other than that..."

"You're so useless!" Sosay snapped. He jolted back toward the strangers, raising his voice. "Hey, you two!"

------------------

It was oddly quiet as she strolled beside him, and she found herself folding her ears and leaning her head downwards. Was something troubling him? She could find out, she supposed. She never used digression with him before. But her mind felt unwilling to prod around at him and instead she did her best following his footsteps. He worried too much, that was the problem. He focused too much on everything always being right. He hated mistakes.

But perhaps this was an issue left for another time. Amélie paused in midstep. Her body went somewhat loose and she leaned forward, one foot still up and the corner of her tail flicking once. "Oh, dear-!" She spoke, giving Phib just enough time to turn around when a child's voice broke from the forest ahead.

The sound and nature of the child's voice seemed to benign the fact that within another few intakes of breath the scent of blood was upon them. Instinctively Phib snorted the coppery scent out, his hackles fluffing and his face hardening.

"What's going on?" He spoke, his voice a bit haggard from lack of sleep, but otherwise still. It became apparent from the moving shadows that another male came in tow, and in his jaws a lumpy form.

"Retsu-" Amélie identified, and took a few cautious steps forward.

-------------------------

"Phib," Retsu said suddenly, almost appearing as if he hadn't heard who we'd known as Ryoku say his name.

"What?"

"Phib," the omega repeated a bit quieter. "I remember now. Phantom and him are on...very bad terms with each other."

Sosay smirked. He spoke in such a way it made it hard to tell if he was being sarcastic or truly meant it, "That's lovely. Come on." They advanced forward until they were directly infront of the duo.

"Sosay," the puppy introduced, trying not to sound rushed. It was clear he was, though, more so due to the fact his eyes kept darting back to Audi. "I have a favor to ask of you, Phib."

-----------------------------

Hearing his name almost the moment that Amélie had addressed what appeared to be the elder of the pair, Phib paused a moment to crane his neck and take a few steps to the left and cut her off. Behind him she heard him warble and move around him, but he didn?t mind her so much on the side of him so long as this other wolf was within heads distance of him. It wasn?t that Phib was not used to being known- but this was hardly a normal greeting.

The sharper voice of the child cut across his ears, and he flecked one of them back as he continued to stare at this other male. He'd never seen a creature fade into the dark quite as much as this one did. He wasn't even particularly black- he looked like the color of a shadow in the night. Somewhat hazy, and were it not for those yellow eyes he would have been a tad more concerned. From this angle now he caught a fleck of pink from the ebony creature in his mouth- and his brain filled in the rest before Retsu managed to make it clear.

Phantom? He had had a feeling too much quiet in that neck of the woods had been brewing up to no good. But he hadn't actually pegged the male for one to attack Audi. For a moment he felt a fleck of guilt. He could have taken her when he had offered her, hadn't he? But that was no matter now. The child wouldn't have left anyways. It was a false gift of freedom for the girl. But he still hadn't thought it to be the outcome of his animosity towards the girl- at least not now. She hadn't even got a set of fangs on her yet. He'd always figured she was too nice a bargaining chip with Sashta- or had she already given up hope with her once she had let her go? It was hard to say, but Phib wasn't happy with this turn of events.

"Phantom did this?" Phib spoke sternly and with a little more malice then before, but the other male continued. The introduction of Sosay seemed pointless- but Amelie seemed dedicated enough to keeping everyone sane enough to peep a soft hello to the child.

"A favor?" Phib questioned, his brow furrowing.

-------------------------------

Sosay nodded. "Yes, I'd like you to--" The youths words came to a dead hault, recovering with an unsure, "Wait, what did you say?" Not that either of them would know, but for Sosay to sound like that was a very, very strange thing. "Retsu, put her down and go back."

Without a word, the dark wolf obeyed. Before he turned to go, his eyes cast a look over the seer. Hm... Shaking his head, he headed back toward the pack.

"I'd like you to keep Audi with you," the male said seriously. Even being so small, when he was like this, one couldn't help but take him seriously. "As you can see, she's not safe with us, but..."

He shook his head. "You're wrong to assume Phantom. He didn't do anything. It was the shaman."

-------------------------------

Ran?" Phib balked, his ears straightening and neck somewhat stiffening. Was that true? "How?" He had thought it odd for Phantom, but he saw a personality type in Phantom he failed to see in Ran. Phantom could have gotten angry- a million of things could have made it more plausible in his mind. But Phib would later have to admit, the possibility of it being Ran had to be one of the more unexpected things he'd ever had to muse over. Jealousy maybe? She had never seemed jealous, the times he had seen her. Surely Amélie would have known-

I don't know. Amélie spoke, her eyes blinking. Too-- She shook her head somewhat, and attempted to concentrate a little better. But the idea of Ran having done this made her somewhat afraid to verify it. It couldn't possibly be true, could it? Not Ran-

Phib shot her a glance and furrowed his brow. That wasn't good, if she got emotional in times like that. He had gotten somewhat lazy with having some trust in her abilities, but at that moment he decided that it wasn't right for him to assume she'd know, nor was it right for him to not figure it out himself. "Unless we're talking about some other shaman." Phib spoke, his voice thick. "And if she's not safe- Ran is with Phantom now?" Or perhaps the real problem was this Tahara.

--------------------------------

All things considered, it still took Sosay a lot not to laugh. "The shaman? With Phantom? Oh, goodness no. She's not allowed near the seer, and we almost have two." His eyes shifted to Amélie's, and he examined her own with slight interest. "I heard from China Blue you were one, too."

Without waiting for her to say anything, he returned his attention to Phib. "I'll be honest with you. I have some wolves I need to deal with, and I can't focus on her fully, at the moment, like I wish I could. She'd be safe with you, I'm sure. I can just tell. And don't worry about Phantom," he added suddenly. "One of these days, I'm going to eat him alive. Quite a fitting death for a cannibal."

It was times like these one could understand why Retsu feared him more than 'the Ghost'.

A small growl drew the spotted pup's focus, and before one could blink he was next to Audi. His attempts to help her up were responded with a snap and a glare.

"DON'T TOUCH ME!" Audi snarled, wincing as she stood. "Where's that damn butterfly?! And where's that wolf?! I'll kill them both!"

---------------------------

It might have surprised him more to hear a child speaking like this, but after the rest of the information floating about, it was hard not to take anything by now. There was a familiar manner to the way the pup was speaking too- it was almost somewhat uncanny. But he kept his mind focused on what the problem was at hand, and settled it aside.

Amélie blinked somewhat at the comment, and simply shook her head towards Sosay. Two seer? She had not met either, but from what she remembered she didn't doubt that one might have been Kaho. He had been mentioned in length before- and if not him, she had a feeling he couldn't be long behind them. But by telling her this- what did he wish her to say? She kept her mouth closed. It was hard to tell if he was threatening her or warning her. Or what it really meant to her.

Phib adjusted his eyes downwards towards Sosay, and rolled the thoughts over his mind as well. "An interesting tally." Phib remarked somewhat haphazardly. There was a manipulation here. Although whether or not the child was attempting to manipulate him or Phantom was hard to tell.

Audi's voice broke his concentration, and he turned towards her flailing. At once Amélie moved cautiously over, keeping herself a few feet from the children. "Hush, hush. No need to be killing things."

A manipulation? Perhaps- he didnt like to see a child as another political mind, but for the moment resolved himself to thinking as such. "She has a place with us." He spoke. Whatever the matter was- he felt he owed Audi it.

-----------------------------

The bloodloss had made her light-headed as it was, and to suddenly wake up away from your pack would leave anyone confused. Understandablely, it took her a bit of time to register what was going on, and who had just said that.

"Oh, HELL no!" the tiny female snarled before she'd even realized it was Phib talking. Even after, the fact remained: She wasn't going with him. "I'm going back to MY pack."

If she didn't... That damn Meskeet and... Phantom. Together. Without her.

She just couldn't bare the thought of it!

Not because she liked Phantom. Actually, she rather hated him. But she hated Meskeet so much more, and having her gone would bring her a disgusting amount of happiness.

Her eyes caught sight of it. Pink really did stand out among all the dark green leaves on the branch. "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" she screeched at the butterfly.

Sosay turned towards it, drawing his eyes together. If such a thing were possible from him, the creature would've erupted into flames from a glare like that. "Tahara..." Just as quickly as he'd turned to the butterfly, he turned away from him.

His ears perked to listen to dark, deep growling sound, and his eyes watched clearly the small, grey shaman who was making such a horrible sound just a few feet away from them.

---------------------------

This was a paradox. He wasn't one to actually listen to children, but when it came down to it he had two children before him, one telling him to take the girl and the other demanding she be brought back. Something else oddly familiar about all of this. It wasn?t the first time he'd had to make that choice? "You don't need them." Phib spoke simply, turning towards Audi. "You don't need to stay with us. But you don't need Phantom either."

And this might have gone further, had it not been for the sudden flickering of a bright pink butterfly in the distance. He'd never seen it before, but the moment his eyes fell upon it he had the feeling that it was unearthly. Did he see it now only because he expected it to be there? God- how had he gotten to the point where he actually expected things of the supernatural to be about?

Then the low growl. It was feral, and too deep in the throat for him to have ever thought it could come from a small creature like Ran. Amélie was already moving forward, her mouth falling somewhat ahinge and breathing- "Ran!"

"Amélie-" Phib curtly spoke, his voice sharp enough to stop her in mid walk, and she crouched somewhat but did not move away. Slowly, he lumbered up past her, and towards where the pups were, crossing about the right side of Audi and hanging somewhat adjacent of the pair. From here- the form of the grey female was noticble against the dark.

"Ran." He spoke, and snorted. "Enough of this."

----------------------------

"It's not your business," the shaman hissed at him, teeth bared. In the darkness, they almost seemed to gleam, along with her eyes, and gave the usually care-free, helpless runt a look that would make even those like Phantom consider cowering.

I'm not here to involve either of you.

"I'm not here to involve either of you," Ran continued, snorting and shuffling her paws forward but not actually going anywhere. "She's not yours."

-----------------------------

"And not yours either." Phib spoke stiffly, and remained still. The voice did not scare him, although what had happened to make her this way perhaps did. Was she possibly being manipulated? He couldn?t imagine someone like Ran suddenly snapping? But, she had been the runt. That had to build up some animosity? it was hard to say what people were capable of. "I'm afraid my dear, I find myself often involved in things that I shouldnt be. That doesnt really sugar coat it much, saying I'm not involved."

Amélie lay crouching, listening to Phib's voice and almost missing the echoing of Ran's. Her body quivered somewhat, and her bright eyes flashed suddenly- perhaps the one spark they'd ever carried since she had been blinded. Awkwardly she rose to her feet and took a few slow steps forward, her ears flat against her head and her mind prodding openly.

"There's no reason for this Ran. You don't really want this, do you? She's just a child." Amélie projected, prodding cautiously. The first time, she left Phib out of it- although the others would have heard her speech regardless. Then, feeling somewhat guilty- she repeated it privately for Phib, giving him a somewhat delayed reaction.

--------------------------------

"She's not taking it away from me," Ran snarled, her claws extended and gripping into the dirt as if she might launch forward to bite one of them at any given second. Any other time, it would've been no concern to anyone larger than her (which was everyone her age or around it), but this time... "I won't let it happen again."

Ran didn't answer Amelie, and it was questionable if she'd even heard her. The voice that answered definately wasn't hers.

Get out off her head. She doesn't want you here.

"There's no use with that," a voice broke in. "She's not in her right mind... Well, not in what would be considered the right mind for her." From the shadows, stepped the white and black female known as Sashta.

She sat in the middle of the two sides, staring at up at the butterfly as it glowed faintly. "I see you," she said bitterly, then turned to look at Audi. "I was worried he'd change his mind when you were born."

--------------------------------

Let Ran tell me to go. I am nothing but passing. Who are you to be meddling? Amélie spoke, her voice noticeably a bit different from her speaking tone. For now- she kept herself hushed between herself, Ran, and whoever this other was.

Sashta's arrival seemed a bit too timely to truly be a dues ex machina, but Phib was glad she had showed up. If anything, it saved one very awkward series of news later on- although it already seemed that she knew a bit more about the status of Ran's mind then he did. She spaced the line between them, giving him leave to approach Ran a bit closer- but he did not go so close as the mother moved. There was a lot to a mother's power- although the two might not have always had the best outward relationship.

--------------------------------

I am in the right, Seer. It's your kind who needs to stay out of the minds of others.

"It never seemed right to me that Tahara had picked Ran to drag around," Sashta continued. The purple eyes of the former alpha had rested on the butterfly for quite a while, but when she spoke, it didn't seem to be toward him or anyone in particular. "It was only because she was the best suited out of the first four. Until something he felt more fitting came along. I had to get rid of it so this didn't happen. It all played out so well for a while..."

The female sighed so heavily her entire body quaked. Then, she turned her head awkwardly toward her oldest daughter. "You just don't want anyone else to abandon you, do you?"

The shaman growled again, bringing a frown from Sashta."I assumed this would happen."

And nothing more from the two of them could be said, as Ran moved forward, Sashta moved forward, and the battle no one else could ever even imagine happening began.

---------------------------------

Don't drag Ran down too! Amélie suddenly flinched, a series of quick thoughts rushing through her mind. You were her friend! Now you just betray her!

But the scene was already playing out like the flashes, and Amélie sat their flinching at the sight. It was too much to grab hold of a shaman and make Tahara dispel. Alter egos were one thing- this was a rival property that didn't mesh. Nothing could be done but watch. Which she couldn't even do through her deadened vision.

For a moment, Phib found himself a bit distracted by Sashta's exposé the situation for it to sink into him that she was preparing for a fight. He had assumed Ran would turn violent from the tone of her voice- but he had rather it been him then Sashta. It couldn't take that much to hold her down- but, he also recognized that might not have been what Ran needed. Sometimes a kid did need a slap around. But how much of this Ran was Ran, and some other entity?

But all of this moved a bit too fast. Ran already jerked forward and charged at Sashta, and the mother followed suit, leaving the small foursome standing on the sidelines. Amélie rushed up besides him, tripping somewhat over the earth and her own excitement. "Do something!"

"Wait it out." He responded, his pale eyes focusing steadily on the females. Out of their minds or not- bitches fought like hell. It wouldnt do not to watch it closely- but it would do better to wait.

-------------------------------

I never claimed to be her friend. Perhaps you should stop assuming things.

In all the chaos, Audi had managed to limp off toward the tree. Managed to claw herself half way up it. That butterfly... She hated it more than Meskeet at that very moment, and wanted nothing more than to kill it.

Of course, the little puppy wasn't aware killing something that was already dead meant nothing.

Despite what Audi thought, Sosay always knew where she was. But quite frankly, butterfly slaughter gave her something to do in the situation that was quickly become dangerous for more than just her.

"There's nothing to wait out..." the spotted puppy said in a toneless voice, watching the two.

It was a bit of a surprise Ran was doing so well. But Sashta would get ahold of her and toss her a bit farther away, or push her, pull her. The distance was becoming more and more rapidly.

"She's dragging her away from Audi," Sosay informed.

She's gonna kill her...

--------------------------------

Was all this necessary? Ran was putting up a hell of a fight, but it wouldn?t do if she died over it. It was a concern anytime females fought, not just over the possessions of their daughters. Females seemed to have a tendency to kill rather then prove a point. More alpha males survived pack take overs then alpha females. It was just the way life seemed to work. But, that didn?t mean watching it would do either. "There's time to wait and see what is intended." Phib spoke simply, before rising. "And, that's mostly ended now."

"Sashta-!" He called, and moved towards the combatants- although by now, it seemed Sashta was doing more dragging of Ran. "It isn?t worth killing her over."

So much anger! Amelie thought miserably, and perhaps instinctively moved over towards where Audi was climbing, unable to keep herself focused on the fight. The empathy was already hard enough to block off, and her limbs shook in a cold sweat.

Doom time.

Kealdra Arrikanez
They had been travelling now all night, not stopping to rest. He had carried the pup most of the way, but after it seemed to gain most of its strength back Kiros had plopped him back down to walk for himself.

It was now early morning, still dark, but the sun was just starting to poke its glowing embers over the edge of the world. Kiros let out a sigh, wishing he could sleep now instead of later.

"Hurry now," he called back to the pup following and continued onwards.

Albino Ghost Child
Beere stared at the male for a moment but followed along behind the other male. He wouldn’t wish to get in the way if something happened, and he had gotten sleep, unlike the other who seemed to have carried him until the sun wolf started his way tracking up the sky. He would have said something by now, but he knew it wouldn’t be a smart thing. So instead he kept his jaw firmly clamped into place, watched the other as he walked onward.

I wonder where it is we are going.. I hope we do not find mother where ever we may be going. I want to kill her, not make amends. the small pup thought as he padded over rough gravel. Thankfully it was still cool from the night. He knew what it felt like to have to touch hot rock on already sore pads.

It was a mix matched day. The kind of day where she felt she had one foot in the grave, and the other on top of a mountain. For the start of her life, she had spent most of it on such a high. It had only been recently, after the burns, that death had dragged her a bit further into the grave, and for a while, the mountain seemed a bit further away. She knew better, yes. The sign that she was feeling better only meant her masochistic tendencies had finally adapted to the new low of pain, and slowly, she would grow downward until the great Ryukkii would be no more.

With that said- she really didn’t care. The foot was back on the mountain, bitches. Her mind was clearer now that it was not so wrought with the old pain, although she knew within the month it would slide forward. But she had lived her life in such a manner, and to her, it did not yet seem like her twilight. Certain things needed to play before she died. Life owed her that.

Fate was a hard thing to take an allowance from, and perhaps, it was her greatest faulting. But on that particular day, the revulting looking female was able to untense her severely crippled legs, and set herself off on a light jog. The scent of others was in the air, and although it irritated her, the familiarity of them brought her enough intrigue to take a better look.

A male was trotting-- the one she had seen before. The one who didnt swim so well, and in his mouth, a little squiggling ball. Questioningly she snorted and smirked, hoping down form a rock (with some amount of self satisfaction over the lack of pain,) and sidled forwards.

"Pup thievery now?" She drawled, approaching slowly from the left.

Kealdra Arrikanez
Kiros didn't see the female until she was near next to him. He eyed her warily, not much in the mood to deal with a cranky old lady right now.

"If only," he stated. He really would rather have napped the pup, at least then he could get rid of it.

He glanced back at it once more.

Albino Ghost Child
The small pup looked up towards what seemed to look like a rather nasty wolf. It looked like something that gripped onto his worst nightmares. Something so hideously ugly that none could care for it or love it. He wouldn’t treat her that way, he was told by his mother about that one thing. That things that are normally thought of as ugly and nasty are treated as such, and that you have to change your thinking in order to be friendly. For it might become an ally in the long run.

An ally sounded like one of the better details in his life. He needed more of them, in order for a stream to get stronger it needed individual water droplets. These wolves, were his little droplets towards strength. Watching the female with his oddly berry colored eyes he colored his head. What was wrong with her?

“Does it hurt?”

(( The three of them and these two in and rp together. Now that would be freaking awesome. ))

Werewolf
A kink appeared in the mottled wolf’s face. Oh, how she would have loved to know he thought of her as old. Although she supposed she felt it. “Only if? Then do. Interesting predicament to wish to be pupnapping. I didn’t think that was something you had to ask permission to do.” She sidled against him, and moved around, keeping her bad side to the woods, mostly out of comfort to herself rather then the ease of the other.

She came to a pause above the bright eyed pup, peering down from below. “Ah– look at his eyes. So what then is he doing with you, little one?” Her oddly soft voice crooned, and the end of her notched tail flicked.

My sister! Hello! A voice flickered against her head. Snorting, Ryukkii ignored it. Damn adoring child. She didn’t have a brain in her head, really. That stupid voice. Pretending to be stupid. Stupider. Oh how Second and Third would weep to know she’d killed them and ended up with this Fourth! And their father! Well, actually– it was better not to go into what their father had thought of his four lovely girls.

This did bring a bit of concern in the jaded wolf’s mind however; she hadn’t meant to actually wander so close to the sea.

Distracted by the echo, she kept quite for a moment, as if she had not heard the pup’s question. She paused, as if reviewing, and finally answered- “Hurt? Well, of course it hurts. Everything in life that matters hurts.”

Kealdra Arrikanez
Kiros shook his head, unkowing of quite what to say. She seemed to drawl on about nothing at all. Mumbling about pup napping. As if he'd do such a thing! Certainly Xan wouldn't, it was quite apparent from their childhood that he wasn't a large puppy fan. So why on earth did he insist taking the younger with them?

Don't think to hard on that one. Your head will start to hurt.

Xan was right, Kiros' head was hurting. Why on earth did they travel at night again?

Less wolves. Either sleeping or hunting. That's right. How on earth could he forget that one. Letting out a sigh he decided that it was best to keep moving. If the old wanted to follow, she could. He didn't much care.

Albino Ghost Child
“I have knowledge of that already. I was worried about you, for it seems to look like it hurts a lot more than something like my burning heart.” Heis eyes glittered with something, not pity though. She seemed to dwell on her hurt and her pain, and her sorrow. Not release it and allow another in. She might pretend in order to use them, but.. Nothing more. She was like the heron.

“..I wished to come with him. I want revenge for being forgotten by a mother with a mind as empty as the wind.” He came to stare not at her, but up at the sky above. It was so very beautiful, but he didn’t find any happiness. His rose colored glass views were all but shattered/

‘Have you ever had rose colored views before?” He wasn’t paying attention to the passing Kiros, he was more intrigued by this female. She seemed to have lived a rather odd life. For her face held a look that he couldn’t crack open. What was she thinking?

Werewolf
Odd, that he was silent. She spent a bit too much time pondering exactly the extent of the oddness- and came out that it wasn’t really all that odd, just irritating that he apparently couldnt mouth an answer out of that throat of his. He moved, as if she wanted to follow. Pah!

The child didn’t seem too interested in leaving, and she averted her attention to him. How odd! She was starting to tolerate kids more then adults. Hopefully that didn’t speak towards maternal instinct, or some miserably sweet taste like that. “Revenge on your mother?” She chuckled. “Boy, my mother gave the whole little the boot. Forget your mother. So many better things to take revenge on then mothers.”

“Rose colored glass?” She swayed her tail. “Oh, I am a devout optimist.” She remarked. It was true, to an extent. “Just that things will work out in the end for me.”:

Kealdra Arrikanez
Xan had about enough of this. If the pup was comming he was comming now, or he would die. He couldn't care. He could switch hands if he wanted, roll around in the dirt. He said he would follow as his shadow, and quite frankly, he better. The good news was Kiros was still far to tired to make any complaints against his taking over. It was all well and good for him.

"Hurry up, pup, or that deer won't be the only meal I eat today," he snapped and eyed the female.

"And where on earth did you go? I catch something nice and you dissapear." He growled at the both of them and resumed walking. Kiros could rest for a while.

Albino Ghost Child
“Least she did.” Whispered the pup as she got back onto his feet, and slowly moved away from the femme and slowly trotted towards Kiros, Stopping halfway. “Least you know she didn’t pick and choose. Mother did with me.” he spoke softly but turned around sharply, staring his way towards Kiros again. He wouldn’t piss him off anymore. It wouldn’t be smart. Not with a threat like that. He knew it was a promise.

“You are smart to do so. I was not and thought everything was good in the world. Wrong I was. Are you following or not?” He was almost next to Kiros when he called out the last of his words. He wanted to talk more with the femme, she seemed to hold much information and not take a side unless it was to her satisfaction.

Werewolf
Ryukkii chuckled. “Of course she picked and chose. She picked herself. I don’t really care- would I have done the same? Besides, they say I’m her.” She remarked flatly. It was true- almost every female in her family appeared almost identical. Those with misconceptions might have believed herself and Amélie to be twins. On her mothers side- every female down the line. All dying, all cruel. Amélie seemed to be the only difference in the cruelty- although Ryukkii had every assumption that she too carried the same genetic fault that was slowly killing them both. But finally, both females could bear no children, and the line would end.

Ryukkii felt importance in that.

“Hah.” She remarked. She didnt want to follow, but her urge to speak took precedence. “Nothing is ever good. But nothing is ever truly bad either. Too young to think you have a grasp on the world. It’ll gnaw you down to nothing, but there will be good days. Selfish days, so forth. Can't have both. If you want something to be sad about, curl up and die. Harsh, yes, but it's true. No reason to spend your life pining for a mother who doesnt care, and slowly plotting revenge. Give others a reason to want revenge from you. Break away. You're better off alone if you believe it.”

Kealdra Arrikanez
(( ::pulls out a dog whistle and blows it:: TAKE THAT YOU FIEND!!!

Were! Introduce Phib now ja ja!! >.< ::rolls:: ))

Xan was in no mood to listen to them yip yap. Not to mention the one with burns would probably be far slower than him. He pinned back his ears and made his way upwards, scrambling over rocks and twigs as the terrain roughened from the treck to the sea.

What the female said was very very true. The pup would be wise to listen to her words. Xan, on the other hand, was to far gone to listen to any advice that the female might present.

Kiros might listen, but Kiros couldn't gain anything from it. Then something caught his attention.

"Shut it. Both of you."

Albino Ghost Child
The male thought about all the female had said and made a small nod. He wouldn’t get back on his mother then. Maybe. He still would get strong though, still learn from Kiros. Become something his mother wouldn’t think ever to happen. Him to become strong, maybe feared, maybe thought of in respect. What ever happened, he wanted to remembered. He needed that, for he wasn’t remembered when she left.

He would have spoke something, but he heard the male order both to shut up and did so. Clenching his jaw so he could save himself from hurt later. No, he wouldn’t be stupid. He wouldn’t be treated like he was stupid either. As he stood quietly, he stared back towards the female, berry bright eyes glittering at her. He would listen to her words. Just to see if it was right.

Maybe it was time for history to make a new ending. Not another repeat….

Werewolf
“Oh such harsh words.” Her voice drawled, and she swayed her tail.

-------------
Elsewhere, a certain dark wolf was having a rather pleasant afternoon. It was warm, but not quite to the point of white heat as it had been in days past. Everyone in the pack was settled. Audi was getting older, and to some extent he could stray without worrying about her flying herself to her death. Amélie was herself, but she had been in good spirits ever since the instance with Arguin had blown over. He was even on good terms with Gareth, if only that Gareth didn’t actually know about it. He knew better to fall into too much a state of serenity but... it was sometimes easy to want peace as much as he wanted disorder.

And so, lazily he walked, his tail swaying about as he pondered over Rio’s recent weather report. Some trouble to the east, but hopefully it would blow over. It would not have occured to Phib that something might have been up, had it not been for the small grey form that suddenly danced in front of his vision.

“Amélie-“ He spoke amiably, and swayed the end of her tail.

“Hello!” She grinned, and rubbed herself against him. “Not so hot, yes? I am walking a bit today. Phib is walking a bit today.”

He nodded, and glanced off to the side. “I’ll be heading back soon.” A faint smell was lingering on his snout.

Nervously, Amélie giggled and wagged her tail. “Ah- Phib. Let’s go back then?” She stepped alongside him, and swayed to the side. She already had a prediction this wasn’t going to go well. It would only be a matter of time before he found out she hadn’t exactly told him about her sister hanging around the woods.

Gruffly he made a slight noise in his throat, and moved forwards. Others in the distance? A peculiar sign. “I’m going to check something first. Who’s over there?”

“Aha-“ Amélie nodded, grinning sheepishly. “Who knows?”

“You knows.” He muttered, and stiffly strolled forward. Nervously Amélie peeped, and skittered off beside him.

Two years it had been– but he recognized her from a start. Uglier, but, that was his fault for listening to Amélie, wasn’t it? He still dreamt about it. Her screaming in his ear and Ryukkii flailing about against the fire. ******** hell. And it certainly was not quite a pleasure to see her lingering around someone as unstable as Kiros.

“Ryukkii-!” He snapped, and Amélie shrunk.

Ryukkii yawned affably, and glanced towards him. “Oh, lovely.”:

Kealdra Arrikanez
Great. Just great. Just ******** great! He really did not want to run into the deviant black again. Not now, not with this pup. Worse off, was that it seemed like they planned to come back here. He had never been good with directions and he knew at once this was Kiros' plan all along.

Caught on finally, did you? Didn't you catch the scent?

Xan thought about it for a moment when it finally clicked. Eisig and the pup. It fit so perfectly, why hadn't he thought of it before.

"Well look who it is!" Xan said with a sligh grin. His eyes shifted back towards the female. They knew each other and apparently that wasn't a good thing.

"Beere-Augen come here. Its not safe with the female right now."

Albino Ghost Child
He didn’t ask, he didn’t want to. Didn’t want to draw attention to himself, for the result could be the worst thing possible. Slowly inching towards the back of the male, he hid behind him in his shadow. Keeping rather quite so he wouldn’t be caught by the others. This looked bad, and that rather large black male seemed to not like the female with many answers.

Looking towards the other two, he stared, was that a twin of the one with much information? He cocked his small head and looked out from behind Kiros, only to take a quick glance. She was small, and her eyes were frightening. Why were they so cloudy and so small? Was she a runt?

“..What is happening?” he whispered softly towards the male, hoping that it was low enough for none of the others to catch, or at least hoped they were to busy with themselves to notice him.

Werewolf
Phib grimaced, keeping himself prickled enough that he did not feel the urge to growl- although he couldnt help the slight thrumming that stirred in his chest. It was hard to tell who he needed to be more pissed off at– Kiros/Xan, most likely the latter, or Ryukkii. He’d have to worry more if they were working together- although by the way he shoved the pup aside Phib quickly deduced that they were not. That was one good news in this ******** situation.

The sight of Phib should have brought more concern to Ryukkii’s eyes then it did. But she doubted with her dear little sister around, that Phib would make any efforts on her life. After all- he’d saved her before. The thought of it brought a low chuckle to her throat. Not that it was a good memory. The healing process had been so painful she had almost begun to think Phib had kept her alive as an act of cruelty. Or, Amélie. Whatever. They were practically the same person together anyways.

She did hope however, that this Kiros did not think they were on the same side. Although... he certainly did have the right sort of mind to fiddle with. Not strong enough though, not yet anyways. Whatever was conflicting inside of him held him back.

The sight of Ryukkii however, did bring concern to Phib. It brought a cold feeling to his chest as he eyed her. He still remembered the first time he had spoken to her. He remembered instances that didn’t make sense about her with the veracity one might a loved one. But he held no love for her. He had always felt sick around her. There was something about her he felt threatening to him, like one might think of a sickness. Threat. He didn’t like it. She seemed complacent enough, so for the moment, he ignored her presence. It had been Xan that seemed the most shocked at his arrival, and he took his instincts to mean he was first pick on his s**t list.

It’s alright. Amélie spoke against Phib’s head. She’s different now.

How is she any different now?’ Phib remarked, somewhat cruelly.

She’s dying now.

Phib had to disagree. For as long as he’d known Ryukkii she’d been dying. For her credit, she did look like s**t. He couldnt imagine what sort of wicked thoughts kept her living. But perhaps the worst thing about her was that he could not hate her motive.

“I could question this whole scenario- but I’m going to take a gander that is Eisig’s boy, isnt it?” Phib spoke. It was hard to miss a family with eyes like that.

While this went on, Ryukkii shot Amélie an appeasing grin. “So angry, all the time. It’ll make him sick.”

Amélie grimaced and shook her head. “You shouldn’t be meddling!” She whispered.

“Love, I do hope we’re not still trying to save my soul.” Ryukkii yawned.

Amélie dismissed it. Hello little one. She spoke directly to the child, and slowly swayed her tail. My sister, but I had two others.

Kealdra Arrikanez
Xan was not in the mood for this at all. If it had been in his younger days when he was stronger and hadn't found love for his other half, he would have ripped the throat from the neares wolf simply to relieve some stress on his body. For now, however, he had to fret about the situation and about the damn pup. Why the hell did he bring it anyway?

Becuase I told you to. No you didn't! Wait. . . why did we bring it? I don't know! The more important question to ask is why haven't I ripped his throat out yet? Ahem. Damn You.

He huffed and focused what little attention he could back on the pup.

"That is Phib, the alpha of the pack your mother went to find. Don't toy with him, that's your first rule. Second, if you hear any voices in your head, repeat them to me. You can respond however you want, just make sure you tell me." He didn't like Seers and quite frankly despite the females good seeming intentions he did not trust her, or anyone else for that matter. He knew she was a seer, she had spoken in their voices before. She was staying out of his head for now, good.

She's not all that bad you know. Phib says she's got a softer heart than me.

Albino Ghost Child
He dismissed the others, as he was closest to Kiros and he was supposed to be the one who he was to follow. Nodding in agreement the small male spoke softly, repeating the words that he found rather oddly, in his head. “The voice in my head say the following, Hello little one, and, My sister, but I had two others” he didn’t want to be killed, and he most certainly didn’t want to piss off the wolf closest to him. He felt that malice inside of him. It was almost like a stench.

Looking up and towards the large black Alpha his eyes widened. He mother’s name had been mentioned, but how could he have known he was from her? Was it his markings, or the odd colored eyes he was cured with?

Thinking nothing for a moment he decided to think, for it seemed the voice could hear his thoughts already, which did creep him out thoroughly, but he did let her in, for he didn’t know how to push her out anyhow. ..Hi. You sister, not your twin, but still a sister. She is full of knowledge. I must say though, she unnerves me as much as you.”

Werewolf
“Will you repeat the voices in your head?” Phib snapped, rather disliking the round about fashion Xan spoke to the boy in. Was everyone such a damn nut show nowadays? But still, Xan himself was not much of a threat. With Ryukkii seemingly lax, there seemed to be little mark on himself at the moment... but, not so much could be said on the boy. Where in the hell had Kiros gotten him from?

“Seems like everyone is hearing voices nowadays.” Ryukkii half purred, ignoring a slight jab in her stomach as her muscles spasmed.

“Shut up.” Phib muttered. One thing at a damn time.

“Oh ******** me.” Ryukkii snapped, and shook her head.

Amélie peeped. Don’t be so harsh tongued in front of the child!

“Please, don’t even tell me that of all the things I’ve done, you’re going to stickler it for the language. Pah.”

My sister is very ill. She is bitter, and can’t let go of things she never had. Amélie echoed affectionately. But she is very smart. She’s smarter then me, and very wise– only, she makes things bad when they don’t need to be. She’s selfish, in her own way, because that’s all she knows how to be. But she could do so much good.

Even with all she had done to her, Amélie still hoped to have the love of her family. Perhaps it was sickly in a way. But she needed it. She loved her sister, despite it all. She felt sorry for her. It made her sad to think what might have changed if she loved instead of hated. She would be such a good, noble person.

You needn’t repeat that to them. She said softly, although she didn’t mind if it was. It wasn’t anything Ryukkii didn’t already know she thought. She spoke audibly now, if anything to save the child the trouble.

“I am Amélie. I’m sorry my eyes scare you.” She frowned, and lowered them. “They are not too good for seeing, yes? But they don’t mean any harm.”

Kealdra Arrikanez
He was about ready to snap in two. What he wouldn't give to have that Alpha's blood on him right now, but he needed to keep the pup safe, at least for now. Phib looked about ready to snap as well, the last comment he made proved that.

"I don't think you deserve to hear what Kiros has to say," he said glaring at the black. Always jumping to conclusions, always snaking around things. It was enough to make him puke. Someone needed to take the black wolf's status away for a while, just to give him a taste of misery. "Thank you Beere-Augen. Just keep tight. Things might get complicated very quickly." He turned his attention to Phib again. "Where is Eisig anyway? Or did her demon kill her from within?"

He watched the seer warily, keeping himself between her and the pup, but mostly between Phib and the Amelie look-a-like. The last thing he needed was a fight among those two which the black might take out on him later, and the second worst thing would be to have his tool snatched away.

Xan? WHAT!? Can I come back? Its not safe for you. You'll die, make things worse. Can you let the seer in? I want to talk to her, just me and her. You don't have to listen, she can shut you out. Fine.

"You. Seer-girl. Kiros wants to talk to you."

Family ties

When Kage turned around, he noticed Kai was not there. "Kaisou?" he said aloud, calling her quietly. "Kaisou?" He turned around, padding in a wide circle while sniffing the ground. His eyes grew wider as the time passed, and his sense of worry grew stronger.

He immediately headed back the way they came, going silently but searching continuously with his golden orbs. The twigs and leaves around him were left untouched, and he could not smell his daughter, so he continued back even farther.

Finally he came upon a little hole in a bush, realizing it was the size of his little pup. He jumped over it quickly, not hesitating to cross it. On the other side, his gaze fell directly upon Kaisou.

Kaisou laid there, pointing her nose to the sky, which was now filled with a hot glowing light. It was the middle of the day, and only a few hours had passed since she had wondered off that morning. Her entire muzzle was matted in blood, and her chest was soaked through as well. She laid next to three carcasses- two eaten and the other only beaten down so harshly the limbs would soon come off. Her eyes were open, but they were dark. As soon as she noticed her father staring at her from across the field, they lighten instantaneously. She only moved her head, raising it to greet him timidly.

Kage moved over to her quickly, moving his muzzle up and down her body to make sure she was alright. "What have you been?!" he exclaimed, frustrated that she had disappeared; even more that he had let her. And then he noticed the carcasses themselves. He had smelt the blood from a while back, but he had not realized it was his daughter who killed them until now. He just stared at her in a questioning appearal.

Kaisou just smiled and replied to the question, "I just found them." She was lying, she knew. But wouldn't it be better for her father to think she had good luck than blood lust? "And I smelt them with my nose." She rose, imitating the story. "So I followed the scent, and it led me here." She paused, noticing her father's annoyed expression. "I didn't realize I had wandered off. Not to mention I've stayed in the same place the whole day." She said this rather sarcastically, as if it was his fault he did not find her sooner.

Kage just stared at her for a few moments, having already noticed she needed to be cleaned up. He just assumed she was telling the truth, because she had no reason to not believe her. Picking her up in his muzzle, he headed over to the water hole with her body limp in his teeth.

Arriving there, he sat her down. The water was cool, and Kaisou enjoyed it. Having water poured over her head was refreshing to her, and right after she was clean, she started to bounce around in the shallow end. "Da," she called from the water, "Come and play with me!"

Kage glanced at her from the dry land, giving her a small smile. "No, you're having fun by yourself. Maybe..." He paused, looking at her sympathatically. "Maybe we should find you a pup to play with..."

Kaisou did not hear him as she played. She ran around, her body soaked, ever staying in her Da's sight.

---------------------------------------

Amélie was having a good day. To say she was oblivious of the plots against her was fundamentally untrue. But perhaps she had gotten, just slightly, used to her abilities as tools. She wasn’t afraid of things like she used to be. She still worried constantly about Phib, but she no longer needed to be so attached to him. She was always with him. And as much as she tried to be, she was with everyone she loved. It made her calm, and although there were dark forces in the woods, she kept her scattered thoughts softly covert.

Slowly, the small female stepped over the shores of a small stream. Although her dead eyes stayed still in front of her, she could faintly make out the delighted thoughts of a pup, and the sounds of her asking for her father to play with her. At once, her heart broke and she lowered her eyes.

How she wanted children. She never never tried to want anything. How could she choose what happened in her life? But how she wanted... She had thought the hardest thing would have been getting Phib to want them too. It should have been. But instead, she simply couldnt...

But the empathy settled across her, and happiness swallowed against her mind. Eagerly the end of her tail swayed, and carefully she crossed towards them. “Hehe- so energetic!” She remarked.

-----------------------------------------

Kage immediately heard the footsteps of the female through the trees, and then his nose picked up the scent of her since he was down wind. He watched her closely, resisiting the urge to immediately attack and scare her away from Kai. It was a female, so he just sat there and watched. Her muzzle was in a smile and her projection was only of nice thoughts, so he just sat back and watched. But how he did watch so very closely.

Kaisou turned her head toward the female at her words, making a grin with her muzzle. This showed her little needle shaped teeth in white patterns. "Hello there!" she exclaimed, perking her ears forward and following the femme with her eyes. "My name is Kaisou. That is my father, Kage." She said this merrily as her gaze switched from her father back to the stranger- the fact he has an intense look on his face escaped her quickly. "And what is your name?" she questioned, wagging her tail brightly. "Oh!" she yelled next, padding over to the wolf. Her footsteps made little splashes as her awkward young gait moved her body. "I l ove your eyes! They're so pretty!" She danced around the wolf, shifting her weight back and forth in a short of bouncy pattern.

----------------------------------------

Amélie chuckled fondly as the child ran around her. “Hehe. Thank you. They are not being much good for seeing, yes? But, I’ve been told they’re still blue.” She took two steps into the water, so the child did not have to run so far into it. Although her eyes did not move, she moved her head upwards towards the direction of the father. He was cautious, but she found that admirable.

“I am Amélie.” She smiled, and nodded her head softly. “Such a pretty daughter.” She commented as she splashed around, and now she kept her head trained towards the child. “I’m sorry if I am of interrupting anything.”

--------------------------------------------

Kaisou stopped suddenly, looking up at her happily. "Oh, no!" she giggled, keeping that priceless smile upon her face. "I was starting to get bored here all alone. I was actually making a wish that someone fun would appear." She nodded her head lightly, then tilted it sideways. "Not good for seeing?" she repeated, confused. She was sure she just got a compliment about being pretty. How could she know if she couldn't see? Kai shrugged it off, immediately going back into her hyper puppy stage. "They are still blue." She watched the female again, not paying any attention to where she was stepping. The water kept getting higher on her chest, but she did not notice. "Want to see what I can do?" she asked, not waiting for an answer. She quickly trotted over to a rock, guiding up it excitedly. She ran toward the edge, leaping off of it and trying to fly. "Wheee," she yelled as she fell, hitting the water quickly after. She bobbled up, swimming over to Amelia. "Did you see it?! I flew!"

Kage was just watching with a horrified expression, exhaling deeply when she came back up and bounced over to the female. He would have a long talk with her about this later. Another risky thing his daughter decided to do. Ah, his spawn. Gah.

---------------------------------------------

Amélie frowned, noting the male’s discomfort over his daughter’s actions. She understood his reasoning, but couldnt help but think she was simply being precious. He had not spoken to her yet, which also concerned him. But nevertheless, she averted her attention to the child.

“Hehe- very good. Sometimes I used to think I could fly away. But no, I am sorry- not too good for seeing. Can’t see at all, no. It’s black mostly, but sometimes red if the light hits it too sharply, and they hurt.”

---------------------------------------------

"It is okay!" she replied, noting the female's darkened eyes. "They're still pretty! It's like the stars. Pretty, but basically useless to the sky." She nodded, still happy with Amelie. "You know, I think I could fly. Or float. Just like the wind." She sat down in the water, her rear completely engulfed in the fluid. "But," she said, now calming down and more seriously. "I suggest you stay away from the red light if it hurts," she offered this advice as an adolescent not understanding the full extent of the comment. She felt wise as she said it though, knowing pain was bad and vice versa. She opened her muzzle to speak again, not noticing how much she was rambling on. "So, where did you come from? Do you have a family of your own from there? Where are they now?" Her questions went on, Kaisou wanting to know why the small female was alone.

Kage also wondered why Amelie was travelling alone, but he did not say anything. His eyebrow rised when Kai asked about her family. Though she was young, it was very improper. Normally wolves would get mad over such an intrusion of privacy- thankfully this female was a sweet and loving one. Suddenly, he realized Kai had not been with her mother since she was born. How weird. She was being raised by one parent- only her father. That worried Kage, him thinking about how he might mess her life up before it even began.

----------------------------------------------

Amelie smiled, and wagged her tail. It was a pretty analogy, and rather uncanny for a child. “They once worked.” She noted, although by now it felt so long ago. There were times when she almost forgot things... things that mattered to her. Like what kind of green Phib’s eyes were, or what the earth looked like after it rained.

“Yes, my mate lives just a bit south of here on his lands. I just went for a walk.”

-------------------------------------------------

"Oh! Well, welcome to our land!" She couldn't help but be happy when such a nice lady was giving her so much attention. "My Da likes to tell me stories. That's how I heard about the stars being the puppies of the sun wolf and moon wolf." She nodded, looking to her father. "He said alot of wolves told that to their pups." After a few seconds, she noticed she only mentioned a mate. "So, you have a husband, right? Does that mean you have kids too?" She was hoping the answer would be yes, considering how nice Amelia was. Kai just assumed she'd be a good Mum with very nice puppies. "And how did you lose your eyes?" With this, she tilted her head curiously. She had never heard of a 'blind' wolf. "And why? Was there a reason you became 'blind'?"

Kage just sat by, listening to the conversation silently. There was something the female was not telling them. Something significant. Her mate was an alpha, considering he had his own lands. Therefore she was an alpha female. She had to have something special about her. Especially with the unfortunent event of being blind, and the great quality of love.

--------------------------------------------------

“Really?” Amélie smiled, her heart flinching. How she’d love to tell stories like that! No one had told her such things when she was little, and she’d had to make the stories up on her own. But she adored them all the same. “You must tell me be telling me sometime.”

A slight frown crossed her face. “No, no kids. I am not the alpha.” She added– picking up on the other’s thoughts, but directing them towards the child. She was an omega. At least to the general public’s knowledge. “And...” She wavered a moment before answering. Not that she was ashamed of the story, or that it hurt to tell, but she was cautious about saying such things in front of a child. “Hehe. That’s a bad story to tell, yes? They don’t hurt anymore.”

---------------------------------------------------

Kage looked at her, wondering whether she just answered the question on her own or if she knew he had thought that. And was it not odd for an Alha to mate with an Omega? Maybe he was just out of the loop. Although, his suspicions were growing larger with every word she said.

"Yes! I love to be told stories. Maybe..." she paused, "You could tell me one sometime?" She knew it was alot to ask of a new friend, but she decided it could not hurt to put it out there. "When I get older, I'm going to find myself a mate." She nodded, smiling. "But I want to travel. Alot. And far. Just like the wind. I want to be unpredictable." She came closer to the female, whispering her ear so that she could only hear Kai's words. "My Da does not know, but I am good at killing things. I can hunt really well. Like, today. I caught three different animals and I have never been hunting before!" She giggled, flicking her tail excitedly. "And sometimes, the wind speaks to me." She nodded again, proud of herself. The wind never spoke to her. That was impossible as far as her father was concerned. She was just a puppy, but she did believe it was the wind that spoke to her. Really, it was just her conscience. Speaking to her, and telling her risky things to do. It was provoked by blood, or chance of death. Basically, she had a little voice in her head that was trying to kill her. No one other than her knew about her ability to kill. Or want to. And no one knew about how the 'wind' spoke to her. But Kai decided this nice lady could use the story and could be trusted. She was special.

-----------------------------------------------------

“Yes, it’s a story for another day I am thinking.” She chuckled. Amélie was glad the child had not forced it out of her. The last thing she wanted was the poor girl being concerned, or fearful. Such a lovely soul- being around her almost enveloped her in the feeling of freedom and the wind. As for her situation- she knew it was odd. Everything about Phib and Amélie was odd. She knew others might have wanted it gone. Phib was a good man, and a lot of women saw that. She didn’t deny the fact she didn’t deserve him. But he truly was the only thing she had, and she clung to him with as much veracity as she could. She’d tolerate anything he’d ever do, just as long as he loved her. He had told him that too, although he had vehemently denied that she should ever put up with that.

“Oh?” Amélie whispered back. “Such plans! Just make sure to see your daddy sometime. You wouldn’t want to leave him alone, would you?”

-------------------------------------------------------

She frowned, thinking about it for a moment. "Of course I won't leave him alone." She stopped again, really pondering the thought. "But I want to have my own pack. He can be a part of it if he wants to." She shrugged, looking over at him, but then turning back to Amelie. "And yes, I would like to hear the story sometime." She smiled again, looking up into her blue eyes. "You are my new best friend Amelie." She nodded, sure that it was true.

Kage listened to what he could, admiring the sweet females personality and kindness toward his daughter. He knew she deserved her own pups, because she would be such a fine mother. He did not want his daughter to ever go, though he knew it would happen. He'd be there for her whenever she needed him, and he'd fight off any guy that he didn't want around her. He would make sure she was safe and happy before he left this world and moved to the next. He expected lots of grandchildren.

-------------------------------------------------------

Amélie’s face fell to a soft smile, and her head nodded. Such a sweet girl! Eagerly, her body shook and she yipped. “I am glad! You shall certainly be one of mine.” The lady replied, and nodded her head. “Your own pack? That is being quite a heavy undertaking! Where shall you live?” She smiled. “You should speak to my Phib someday. He’s very good with managing, yes.”

Tainted love

He knew better to think time would ever standstill for him. Ryukkii, Kiros, Arguin, Rage, Flammen, and so forth and so forth. Not to mention Audi, Phantom looming overhead- How did he end up doing so much at once? But perhaps he just enjoyed griping about it. He was too trained for conflict and strife that sometimes peace seemed even more threatening.

But as it were, things were quiet at that moment, and the old king lay stretched out against the side of one of the cliff rocks. It was still on the lands, but because of the formation of the rocks, a bit hidden from most of the group. He needed some time to relax.

In the faint sunlight, the black of his fur became rainbowed like tar. His skin burned, but for the time it was not unbearable. "I need a vacation." He half yawned, stretching his legs out before curling them back against his head.

The sound of the waves hitting stone kept him mostly oblivious to approaching sound- and having felt that he was hidden from most everyone, save Amelie, he lazed about with a lowered gaurd.

---------------------------------------

When she wasn't ranting to Phib about how she'd eventually kill him, she was complaining that she had to 'hang around' with him and his 'lame pack'. Which wasn't HER pack, she reminded him constantly.

Despite that, the youth didn't seem to like it when the alpha was out of her sight, minus when she decided to go hunting. In fact, she'd go through extreme lanks to track him down again to wherever he'd wandered.

But today when she located him, she had a dead rabbit dangling by it's back foot in her jaws. Amelie had something about liking them, which for some reason made Audi want to kill them.

A lot.

"Phib!" she barked, the corpse thudding to the ground. "Look, Phib! Isn't this one fat?" And indeed, for a rabbit it was extremely bulky.

---------------------------------------

The sound of Audi’s voice- affectionately, little tyrant, broke him out of his sleepless thoughts. “Huh-“ He remarked in surprise, raising his head as the growing female approached him from the side, a large rabbit clutched between her jaws. Keep an eye on her had started to become less a job then before; she was almost always attached somewhere around him when she was not off hunting. Odd, he might have thought had it been just for her death threats. But personally, he fancied she might have been lonely, and for that, he tried to keep himself amiable.

“– That certainly is.” He remarked, pulling his head back. And it was. He’d not seen a rabbit quite that big in a while. For a moment he’d thought it was just Audi’s size that made it seem larger. But it truly was one monster. “What a brute. I’d watch yourself, it might be the king of rabbits there.”

Although the sight of the dead rabbit was somewhat uncomfortable. Oh, how Amélie would carry on. He remembered the first time he had killed one for her. He’d been rather pleased with it, as he had looked around for the best, and spent a half hour digging out it’s burrow. It’d taken almost an hour to get her to stop sobbing about it.

He had never figured out why she was so touched by them.

---------------------------------------

Without even realizing it was, Audi's tail moved back and forth. Which in itself was an extremely rare, perhaps even once in a lifetime sight. It stopped quickly, and her nose wrinkled back just like Sashta or Ran's would.

"King of the rabbits? That's stupid," she spat. "I can rule over a lot more than rabbits." After the next second passed she seemed cheerfully again, pushing the rabbit toward him with her nose.

"I caught it for you!"

------------------------------------------

Phib watched her for a moment, a tired smile crossing about his blunt snout as the end of her tail wagged. He couldnt remember a time when he had seen that before, not even when she had been a child. Such a serious girl! But she had a good head, as long as she lost a bit of arrogance when she grew up. But then again- Jenna had kept it all her life, and she did fine. He didn’t doubt Audi would manage her way with about as much tact as his old friend had.

“For me?” Now that was a surprise. “Have you eaten already?”

-------------------------------------------

"Yes," Audi answered truthfully. She'd actually eaten three whole rabbits herself. Partly out of some hate for Amelie she couldn't understand and wouldn't even admit to having. But mostly because she'd killed one, determined it wasn't large enough, and didn't want to just leave it there to rot.

Not because she hadn't wasting things. She just didn't want some pathetic wolf who needed food eating what SHE killed. Those types deserved to starve. "You want me to kill another one?"

And then kill six more and drag them all back to that seer.

--------------------------------------------

“Hah- no no, that’s fine.” Oh, how Amélie would weep. He was not one to turn down a kill though, particularly when Audi really didn’t have anyone else to talk to. How could she complain? The rabbit was already dead, he was doing it a favor. And for all she cried, he wasn’t going to just tell the pack they wouldn’t eat rabbits anymore.

“Thankyou then.” He spoke, his voice thick in his throat. “Although it’s best not to tell Amélie, or she’ll go into convulsions.” Phib chuckled.

----------------------------------------------

"Uh, sure..." Her voice didn't seem to hint that she agreed or disagreed with him. It sounded dead, for lack of a better word. Even her name was starting to make Audi want to cringe.

Amelie. Amelie...

It was so... Ugh.

"Phib," she began seriously. "Why do you even keep her with you? Is it because she's a seer?"

Stupid Tahara. Why couldn't he want to make her one of those instead of a shaman? She had no interest in THAT.

--------------------------------------------------

Phib took the rabbit, and glanced at Audi. She seemed to change a bit. What had he said? It didn’t occur to him that she might have been growing a preoccupation against Amélie. He was a sharp man, and he prided himself on it. But a complete failure when it came to women and understanding them. “Amélie-? No, I didn’t even know she was a seer...” He spoke, somewhat lowly. He had hoped that she hadn’t been keeping it from him...

“I keep her because I love her.” He admitted honestly. “And I know no one else would look out for her. She’s smart, in her own way, but she thinks too much of people. Even as a seer she’s so easily mislead because she thinks everyone can be good.” For that, he didn’t agree with her. But he loved that she tried. There was something innocent about her that was gone from him. And he liked to keep that safe.

“Regardless- sometimes I think she keeps me. I really don’t have a say in what she does nowadays.”

--------------------------------------------------

She couldn't help it. Audi didn't even have a chance to think not to before she was growling. Love Amelie? HOW? She was useless, whiny. Could she even KILL things?

No, she couldn't, Audi assured herself. And not because she was blind. Because she was a coward.

"Oh," the youth managed to grumble out, then turned from him and silently began a walk in some random direction.

Stupid seer... Why couldn't SHE fall in a river?

---------------------------------------------------

The low growl caught his attention, and he let the rabbit fall softly from his jaws. It’s mouth swung ahinge, and he had to avert his eyes from it. Things like that never bothered him before. But he knew it would bother her.

“Audi-“ He spoke, although still oblivious that this had anything to do with Amélie. “Sometimes things happen we don’t like. That doesn’t mean you can’t change them in time. Just be patient." "

"Plenty of time to kill me.” He added with a smirk.

---------------------------------------------------

The female stopped when he said her name. When she turned around, the look on her face suggested she was going to scream at him for a good ten minutes before ripping his face off.

As a puppy, she wouldn't have done so. And even now if had been anyone but a few select wolves she probably wouldn't have, but Audi did listen.

She seemed a bit confused at first, then nodded very, very slowly.

What now?

"Right," she mumbled, facing away from him again. "I'll remember that."

-------------------------------------------------------

Phib glanced at Audi again. She still seemed distant...but, she always had been. For all that he might have said, since the first time he had seen her he’d hoped she’d free herself from Phantom. And now, from Tahara– even Sosay, if she had to, although he couldnt help but imagine the male might have had some kind of feelings towards her. She could do a lot, that one. But she attached so much to that hate. And now, Amélie, although he didn’t realize it.

But she was still a kid, and Phib was still too rough a man to ever say things so overtly. Instead, he fell back to slight teasing. “Well, be careful you know. They’ll want revenge for their king.” He noted gruffly towards the rabbit.
