Can't remember the ages of your parents exactly eh Toki? blaugh I have some of the same problems too, though its mainly recalling how old my grandparents are. Kyo: Is your father really that bad? Does he abuse you, hit you for no reason? What about your mother? Couldn't she stop your father from hitting you too much?

Spend time with my family? What the hell is that!? eek Nah, I don't really spend 'family time' with the rest of my family. My parents are workaholics who only have on average 1 full week of holiday in the entire year. It's usually just my bro and I who live together at our house, while my parents spend the majority of their time at our takeaway. I see my mum every single day, but I can go for days without seeing my dad before he pops up and is like ~ "I have a son!?" eek We don't really talk at all, as we've got nothing to say to each other. At most meals I just eat my food fairly quickly and leave the table, leaving my bro with my parents. By the way, it's not only me who doesn't have this parent-child relationship, my bro is also the same as me, though he doesn't know it yet. I reckon he'll end up emotionally cutting them off and won't really see them as family anymore, just like I've done.

I reckon he'll end up emotionally cutting them off and won't really see them as family anymore, just like I've done. You mentioned this before in a previous post... And I find that sad. Mainly because I've grown up the opposite. True, like you already know, I have my... differences with my parents, but after all these years of being close and reliant on them, it's difficult imagining life without them, having a life without the word "family" attached to my head. sweatdrop In a sense, though it's kind of your fault, I mainly blame the parents for your relationship with them.... I'm so tired right now I can't be bothered to say why, but it's probably comprehensible, what I'm trying to say, right?? sad I'm so tired... Anyway, I can see why you barely spend/spent any time with your parents; many Chinese adults own takeaways, and many have their children help out. My dad's an accountant; the majority of his clients are Chinese who own takeaways, lol, so yeah.... I should know. I even do some of the accounts sometimes. xd So boring. Trust me, try not to become an accountant when you're older... My poor dad works his a** off... sweatdrop Even though my dad and mum are both workaholics, like, my dad hasn't got a choice, my mum just works like hell.... They still spend time with me, and they value that time, I know. They're good at balancing both equations, and I am grateful for that, because it made me, me, and gave me a good childhood with supportive (but annoying and overprotective) parents. We don't often get to go to the cinema or go shopping together as a family anymore, cause with the exception of Ken, my lil' bro *hugs Ken*, we're all freaking tied up and darn busy every day. Well, Ken has loads of activities too, but still being in primary school and having his entrance exams over, he's pretty laid back right now... 3nodding We usually just make up for lost time during the summer hols, the easter hols and stuff... biggrin
