It was a lot to take in. Lorey watched as the man she had once deemed to be flawless clamored for a cigarette, which wasn't so offensive as her mother had been a smoker. But... what a poor wreck he was.
Lorey took a chair slowly from the table and set it in front of him so she could be seated there. Once she sat, Lorey took one of his hands in hers. All the time, her eyes had searched for his. "It's alright. It's going to be alright." There was a sudden urge to kiss him or hold him, but it wasn't the right moment. He was too on edge. "Do you want more coffee? Or ice for your head?

Richard kept his eyes distant as he inhaled the rich tobacco to settle his nerves. He looked up to the ceiling as he exhaled, blowing a large cloud of smoke that lingered for a moment before disappearing. He seemed to calm down a bit more. as he looked down at his left hand. An old, tarnished wedding band that had yet to be removed, served as a reminder of what he had lost. "I'm fine...." He replied finally, still not able to look her in the eye.

No, you're not. "Alright." There was more silence. It only fed Lorey's frustration, making it into a slight pain in her mind and heart. She wanted to cry, but she knew it would only drive Richard deeper into himself. And so, as she had throughout her entire life up until the previous day, she buried her emotions.
Not knowing what else to do, she got up and set to cleaning the table, filled with cold food.

After he had finished his cigarette, instead of lighting a second, like usual, he stood and silently went to the bathroom to was his face. He had somewhat totally recollected himself, feeling terribly guilty for ruining the moment with Lorey. "Idiot...." He told himself as he looked disgusted at the mirror. Looking down, he realized Enty had left his regular clothes for him to change. With a sigh, Richard discarded the dress pants from the night before and slipped back into his regular attire that consisted mostly of a pair of rough but nice, tailored pants, a t shirt and a brown over coat. He ran his fingers through his hair a bit, trying to make himself seem presentable before stepping out to face Lorey. "I-is there anything I can do to help out?" He asked.

She had a remarkable talent for working fast, so by the time he had collected himself, there was nothing to be done. Though, she could think of one thing he could do. "Give me a hug," she said, as though reading off from an internal list of things to do. With a genuine smile, she held out her arms in expectance.

Richard rubbed the back of his neck. Maybe this could work. He hadn't been attacked, or followed, or watched in some time, letting on that maybe he was in the clear any how. Maybe being with Lorey was good for him. He came towards her, slipping his arms around her in a tight, loving embrace. He tried to let her know through his actions and emotions that he was genuinely sorry, but he couldn't just express it with words. Perhaps one day he'd be willing to open up all the way and tell her about his dear Rose, but now it was too soon and far too painful.

"There we are..." Her small fingers went through his hair in a soothing fashion. She, too, used her small gestures to let him know what she couldn't really say. Everything will be alright, she said by being relaxed and stroking his hair. I care about you, and I just want you to be happy.

Richard smiled a bit, glad that she wasn't angry or frustrated with him. "Thank you..." He said quietly, embracing her a bit tighter.

Lorey pulled back enough so that she could take his face in her hands. "I could never turn away my hero." And once more, she kissed him. There really was no turning back at that point.

Richard melted into her kiss, bringing her in tighter. He thought he should have felt strange, not kissing another woman since Rose, but it all felt right. It all felt normal and perfect. He felt a flutter in his heart knowing Lorey still considered him a hero or prince charming. He made a pact right there with himself, that he would to anything and everything to make her happy, and try to keep her from getting hurt any more than she had already been.

She could only smile and blush afterwards as she snuggled her head under his chin. "Are we going to stay here all day?" Lorey asked. Despite the fact that he still looked beaten, maybe he did want to step out for a bit.

"Not unless you want to..." he answered, holding her gently as he thought. He had actually hoped to be far away from this planet by now, but he was glad to be with Lorey here and now.

Just as Lorey was about to respond, the door to the hotel room opened and closed. For a moment both listened intently to hear footsteps or some sign of who had come in, but there was nothing. Just silence. "Hello?" she called. But there came no answer. She looked to Richard once before gently pulling away from him and walking to the door.
There was indeed no one there, save for a small little envelope on the floor. It looked incredibly shady, but Lorey was used to such things in the slums. There was no hesitation in her hand as she picked it up and opened the unaddressed envelope.
Inside were little slips of paper confirming payment for her apartment bills, everything, right down to the damage costs they had tacked on at her confirmed leave. Coupled with the final slip was a note, hand written in a hurried fashion. I'm not as cold-hearted as you make me out to be, Lorelee, it read. Your situation is unfortunate, regardless of my hand in it. You may have the satisfaction of blaming my father as well. Do stay safe, and tell that brute of yours to treat you well. It was all I ever wanted to do.
Lorey's hand shook a bit as she read the name at the end. "Damian.

Richard came up behind her, resting his hand on her shoulder. "That jerk who threw you out on into the gutter? Why would he do something like that?" He asked, curious.

"I... I don't know." Lorey turned over the letter, perhaps trying to find a joke written on the back. It couldn't be all real. "I'm being sent angels lately... This couldn't merely be accepted though. Lorey looked up to Richard and held out the enveloped and letter so he could see for himself if everything was genuine. "But you're right, why would he want to help me after he practically ruined me?
