Task Five: Don’t Judge a book by its cover
User ImageAnthony is overall not very impressive. He is not very tall (approximately five foot ten.) and has a very average body build. His eyes are a steel blue that shifts between being either really blue or really gray (often blue in the summer and gray in the winter however this isn't consistent.) Truthfully his eyes are this most striking feature of his face as the rest of it is fairly forgettable. He has brown hair which he wears fairly short and cuts himself. He is takes pride in having a clean shaven face and will spend however much time it takes to get it smooth and hairless. He wears dark blue very clean jeans and a polo of some sort and can typically be seen carrying a messenger bag. On the off chance that you would see him without a shirt he has a Buddha achieving nirvana under a peach tree on his right pectoral and a totem pole running the length of his spine.

User ImageHis costume is designed with his observations in mind. He has discovered that his ability to turn "Invisible" Works best with darker colors. Likewise maneuverability is key and as such he hasn't put any armoring or restricting plates into. He wears a white mask with a jagged line running through the center and a black hood for a sort of fear factor (his three role models all use fear tactics to get results) a thick button down overlapping shirt, and padded gloves. Typically he wears tight grey pants so that tripping over excess fabric isn't a problem and padded boots so that larger falls don't cause him to fall over and or break his legs.

That's some good work! I'm sorry it took me a few days to notice, you've joined at kind of an awkward time for Trox and I (as you know) and I kind of dropped off the face of the earth for a while. You have put so much thought into your character! I am glad to see that my workshop is so helpful... (I think?)

It's very helpful. The problem for me is simply that I want to write too much about my character and have too many ideas that they all just keep overlapping each other. This effectively helps to make me forget some of said ideas that in my opinion were brilliant. And don't even stress it. Life is unscripted, you can't expect to bounce back from everything it throws at you right away.

Task 6:
Name: Anthony Bernard Riciarddi
AKA: N/A (for now)
Current Age: 22
Appearance: Anthony is overall not very impressive.
Costume: His costume is designed with his observations in mind.
Primary Power: Anthony's ability rests in the ability to turn "Invisible." This is said in quotes because he doesn't necessarily just up and vanish he has to concentrate in order to alter his atomic structure in a way that allows his body to match a background. Therefore his ability is more powerful if he is up against say a brick wall where the pattern is distinct versus say if he were standing in the middle of the street in which case his body would have to compensate for all of the elements including sky atmosphere, pollution, distant objects, and to blend in from all angles. Needless to say he tries not to use his ability in the open with so much to concentrate on.
Secondary Power(s): His secondary power is one that he cannot control. Occasionally Anthony is able to glance into the future. Typically this event involves himself however he has had a few psychic visions that have involved others that he has not yet met. He's learned that you cannot really alter an outcome and has only ever managed to make something not happen once. Unlike Déjà Vu His premonitions are very precise as to what will happen and more than not when. As a result he takes these premonitions very seriously.
Weakness: As stated earlier Anthony’s ability to turn invisible is harder to use if there is a lot of background things he has to take into consideration. For example, should a car drive past him while he is camouflaged he wouldn’t be able to react fast enough to the car’s movement to mimic it.
Personality: Anthony owns very little. As a result his home his sparsely furnished and incredibly organized. Anthony is very quiet and hardly outgoing, saying very little if anything at all. The few things he does say are usually strictly to the point and convey no emotion if possible. He is highly irritable with people who are loud and unaware of other people in the vicinity making say, eating at a restaurant an incredibly frustrating experience. He doesn’t have much need for money and thus it usually ends up in a bank account where it’ll never be used most likely.

Anthony doesn’t have a whole lot of friends. Truthfully he doesn’t feel any dependency towards other people and only makes friends on occasion. He is a frustrating friend who will absorb information but hardly ever give anything back. If you ever manage to get close to him he is a reliable friend and in some incredibly rare cases he has known to be a supportive friend. His personal heroes are all fictional and of the super variety: Rorschach, Batman, and Dare Devil. He feels compelled to live up to these fictitious men’s legacies and does his best to try and make the world better so to speak.

As a person he is confident in himself. Although he does have abilities and does see things he will never admit that he has any illness in his head. This is mainly because he doesn’t believe in psychiatrists or therapists and think it is all a load of crock. Anthony’s luck with the lady folk suffers from his inability to communicate feelings with people. This isn’t to say he doesn’t have feelings merely that he doesn’t feel a need to share them with anyone. He doesn’t believe in religion of any sort and chooses to remain neutral on the topic. He does practice the art of meditation and is heavily influenced by eastern philosophy however.

Biography: Anthony had family issues....In that he didn't necessarily have one. His father was in the military and was rarely home. Even so when he was home he complained about what an awful child Anthony was, how disappointing he was compared to his older brother. Anthony strived to prove he wasn't nothing but it doesn't matter what he did. If he proved he was highly intelligent with superior grades his father wished he would be stronger. When he worked out and became brilliantly strong and toned his father asked why he had wasted the time getting buff when he could've been studying. In most cases their would be a mother to comfort him and remind him that his father only meant well. However his mother had left them for another man when Anthony was four so he learned to become bitter and resent his father.

He loved his brother, possibly more than anyone. It was his brother who snuck comic books into the house under his father's disapproval of the "Queer stories." He and his brother would stay up late into the night reading the fantastic tales of super hero deeds. Anthony soon learned to Idolize Batman, Dare Devil and Rorschach and obsessed over their characters. He would often argue with his brother over which characters were better and why intellect and cunning were better tools than strength and power. When Sean William Riciarddi announced that he was indeed a homosexual his father denounced him and he was ostracized by the entire family. Only Anthony ever kept in touch and sympathized with his brother who eventually died of a heroine overdose. Anthony blames his father entirely for this. With his brother's death and his life up in the air Anthony packed any worldly items that he deemed necessary and left the country for the Himalayas, claiming he had no stakes left in England.

In the Himalayas an older Monk took Anthony in and personally took mentoring the child in not just the ways of the Buddhists but in the self defense and in life as well. After spending what would've been his last year of high school and his colleges years in the teaching of these monks he felt at peace with the ghosts of his past and was ready to return to the western world. However a Chinese insurgency attacked the temple and killed his mentor and three other monks. Seeing their blood spilled enraged Anthony. He didn't understand why something so awful happened to people so wonderful. He left with his life but was forever scarred and his mended mind was once again broken. Rather than returning to England he came to America and tried to come to terms with the recent happenings. He recalled the heroes from his childhood, using their intellect with a combination of intelligent plans and a little bit of braun to get results. He decided that is what he stood for, and he, like his comic book idols, would do whatever was necessary to get results.

His mind never fully mended from the incident in the Himalayas and has opened his mind to illusions. He constantly feels as though he is being followed by unseen monsters. He hears whispers but no lips to speak them. Often times he has internal conversations with his brother and his mentor. He's highly intelligent but incredibly paranoid.
Goals/Motives: Much like Peter Parker, Anthony believes that with great power comes great responsibility. However unlike Peter he isn’t afraid to hurt people to get results. He believes justice is the highest power there is. This means that sometimes he works outside of the law in order to achieve his goals.
Vices: Anthony won’t admit to any vices however he does have an affinity to Mexican food and hates incompetence to no end. Furthermore, Anthony’s paranoia has an effect on his ability to determine reality and imagination and has caused public outbursts in his past. He has been known to shout vigorously at thin air claiming that his brother or even fictional characters are there. He absolutely hates being wrong and if he is he will go out of his way to try and redeem himself.
Other: Anthony is something of an Audiophile. He obsesses and loves music in almost all it’s forms. (It’s suspected that this may be to silence the voices he occasionally hears but that’s just speculation.)

I haven't the slightest what kind of super hero name to give him. If anything I think that it should be a name the public gives him. I'm open to suggestions.

I don't know how I managed to put this off so long. Regardless, I'm doing it now. Since I have the time, I might as well even do the first steps, despite having gone over the concepts in my head quite a bit.

Really, putting it down should be good for me.

TASK ONE
So, anyways, the primary concept is "a power that isn't the character's". I mean, something the character just can't control, but as one would say might control him. From here, I think, symbiotic or otherwise? Does this power need him, or is the character a passing host, or has the character somehow won it's favour? Where as a symbiotic bond would round the character off, keeping its skills from ever dropping to a fatally weak position (as the power would have to intervene if the character was at risk, regardless of if the power likes how the character has been acting), but maybe the power is just in it for the kicks?

I think if the power was just in it for fun, or some cruel game, that would give the power much more influence over the character. If the power was just giving itself to the character to see how the character would react, then wouldn't that mean the power is sentient? What then drives this power? Is it a calling, or a corrupter? Maybe, the power could have a physical form? What if, then, it was some parasite? An intelligent parasite could be put in harm's way, then. That would be symbiotic. Maybe, the parasite could take on a joint physical and transcending form!

So, the power, the parasite could have two parts, the controlling aspect, and the power aspect. How would this work, then? Perhaps a being inserted the physical aspect into the character, the host? This being could have a physic control over the parasite, and moderate or increase it's benefits to the host depending on how the host has been acting.

What would drive this being then? A sick humor, a greater cause or possibly the best interest of the parasite, as a mother to it. Could a combination of these work out? What if, the being wanted to take over the host, but a bizarre moral code would require that the host does so "willingly", by surrendering to this power? As such, how would this happen?

Maybe, continuing with the theme of insects, it ties to consuming, growing and spreading. Would the greater hopes rest in the host becoming another copy of the being, to increase the spread of such a creature? Why would the host resist? Is the decent into this position laden with a loss of humanity? Could this mean consuming biomass to fuel the change? Why would this seem especially appalling to the host? A fear of gore, blood, conflict? A natural meekness and tendency to regret? I've seen too much of the fear category. I'll settle on natural meekness, distaste for conflict. Why?

Would the character have had a history of conflict, or not have experienced enough conflict to feel comfortable with it? Had adults in it's infant and youthful life have fought and thrown around insults and engaged in violence, or has it lead a sheltered life? In the case of the second option, that would likely mean some sort of good education, such wouldn't make it likely that it would have left itself vulnerable to a parasite of massive proportions. Raised in lower middle class, coasting in a lazy society to a dead end life, barely living with running water some times, hard to keep clean... such would promote an "infection". If this abrasive past was in the past, how old would the character be, old?

So, to summarize alllllll that, the character is infected by something. This thing changes depending on how the host acts, as benefiting the parasite or not. This thing doesn't need to protect it's host either, as it isn't acting to save itself, as it is controlled by a more developed being remotely. The parasite seeks to take over the host by consuming enough specific mass (meaning going to a butcher's shop and filling up won't cut it, humans would serve to be the most beneficial, as adding human mass to a human goes a lot smoother than splicing farm animals in) to morph into a copy of it's controlling being. The host sees this as a very very bad result, but the powers and developments it rewards with are very very "good".

Would every change be permanent, or would this metamorphosis "fail" after a certain amount of time spent without consuming mass, reverting the parasite to it's basic, but spiteful, form?

Would it be justified to consume criminals? And could a cruel streak be part of a crazed attempt to improve brought about by greed?

Er, and then there is "how" the character ends up in Delmor. Maybe some sort of quest to understand how people's vices translate into powers, seeing the large concentration in Delmor? Maybe the death of a family member would benefit the kind of "poor" character, but only if he stays for a certain amount of time and events? A shortage of jobs forcing him to land in Delmor? You know, I like the first.

And yet, I feel I could do so much more.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 16, 2009 9:49 pm

Task Two

Gender.... While I am so much more comfortable with a man, I could really imagine this being much more apparent as a female. Would you notice a man getting buff, angry and almost insane more than a female getting buff and angry alone? Am I getting sexist here? Would she get ugly, pretty, or stay the same? Would he be handsome, or brew disgust in anyone he tries to get close to? There seems to be more males then females.

So, she's a girl.

Age. Now, this is tough. Well, not really. There is WAY to many teen age girls in this roleplay. Now, I don't want to go too old (as that puts a few too many restrictions on how modern she'll be, refer to my point about coasting off a lazy society and ending up in a bad position) but definitely older than her twenties. Maybe she can be in her lower thirties. 30? 35? 33? I think 32 would be nice. This would put her as an (for better or for worse) 80's chick. Such would mean that she'd have grown up just as laziness begun to take a hold of us all, widespread.

Location. I've suggested she could have ended up in Delmor as a search to understand herself, but that's a bit cheesy. The second possibility I listed makes sense. Having a relative make note of her in a will, she faces having to live in the home if she wants the inheritance. Maybe it's a family home, taken by her aunt at the time. Why was she in the will? Her aunt favoured her, interested by some talent she'd since forgotten, and was saddened to see her poor. Her body was taken to mainland after a heart attack, to be buried under her parent's tombstones.

Since the character isn't the only one of her generation, most of her aunt's money had been divided up to others in the family, leaving the character with money to just settle in and pay any property taxes for a little while.

Name. Flannel "Lynn" Gale. Pretty, but odd. It has a strange ring to it. Also, Flannel came from fallen, with an extra N tossed in from the other word (more in a second). Quite similar to Flann, meaning red. As one can see, minus skin, we're all red. What I mean is, both in her ties to gore and in the more metaphorical aspect of "we're all the same without skin", red is her color. Err, despite the monstrous side of her, she's human. Plus, flannel is pretty. Gale comes from angel, minus the same N from before. While it is cheesy, it doesn't mean exactly what one would think. Before, she wasn't really the type to get into one's face, she would have avoided conflict. With the parasite, and later, there's a great deal of potential for things to go downhill.

Regardless, Lynn is a lot simpler, still sharing many of the letters from Flannel.

Wow, you are on a roll here. Keep up the amazing work!
PostPosted: Tue Mar 17, 2009 8:53 am

Actually, I'm getting a bit of writer's block. Where as the first two tasks were very "open", the later tasks start to overlap, and now I'm not sure what to say or if I'm saying too much.

For the sake of getting it out of the way early (so I have time to write up a campaign for the Monday after the march break, finish some 5 paragraphs of work and hang out with friends) I'll have to keep this one kind of ugly.

TASK THREE

Flannel is reserved, yet fearful that she could easily slip into the more chaotic side of things. Growing up, she faced an abrasive environment. Her parents were too busy disagreeing to necessarily nurture her, along with spreading what little attention they gave across the entire family, as relatives had been tight knit generally. When you're trying to make it seem like everything's fine to your wife's many prying sisters, or your husband's negative role model father, it's hard to make time for a little girl who's proficiencies are average, mostly.

Where as many would have rebelled or grown to ignore the endless mocking and complaining of a father, or the meek yet angry "rebellion" of a mother who could have easily just said no in the first place, Lynn was quiet. Where she could have, she did not. As time passed, as parents divorced, as she was used by friends, interests, men and women alike, when she could have stopped things, adapted, changed, or looked for help, she did not.

This lack of action had followed Flannel through her life. Right up to the night where she was first exposed to the parasite, she was malleable to the slightest word. It was a fear of conflict that drew the being to her. It figured that she would be easily corruptible. When it did take effect, Flannel barely noticed. Increased aggressiveness, strength and primal cravings temporarily took over her life. With these changes, a strange hunger began to take hold. Where as even meat could hardly satisfy the cravings, they seemed to entirely subside just in the midst of arguments, fights or other situations where she had to assert herself over others.

Flannel became tough, argumentative and quick to overreact. Despite how much she put herself in the way of others however, the hunger actually began to worsen. Frustration turned in brute force as Flannel forced herself any situations she could get into involving fights that could continue into, and past the time where blood has been drawn. Yet again, this satiated the hunger temporarily, but it too did not last. Lynn got into the little things, like licking the blood off her own fists, biting, stabbing.

It didn't take very long until Flannel found herself standing alone, besides what used to be a person, in an alley. Her hands weren't right, she thought, staring at her long, needly fingers. They were off, she thought, as he ran the blades on the back of each across the darkened brick wall beside her, each sharp appendage shrieking and giving birth to sparks.. Not right, she thought. She could only exhale, as she wiped the blood from her hands. "It isn't like this" she mumbled, slowly feeling the flap of skin on her cheek where the jaw dropped off, to accompany fistfuls of gore. "N-no." Flannel stuttered, dipping her right, extended, index into a pool of red that had formed in the boy's gullet. "Why does it-" She whispered, standing up straight in a way that her whole body seemed crackle. And yet, it didn't seem wrong. There was no deep hole inside her, where all organs snapped out of their places and entered free fall. This was unlike what there had been when mother had decided that father got a girlfriend too quickly. Even more unlike when she decided she didn't get enough from the split. It was nothing like the time father came over to take Lynn to his home, and mother stopped him. But, it was nothing like that... it was a good fear.

The next day, Flannel fled. She found herself 4 towns over when she heard the news that the investigation ceased when it was declared some sort of animal attack. Regardless, out of paranoia, Lynn stayed where she was, boarding herself up in a cheap motel room for a week, running over what had happened in her mind. She decided against it. She wouldn't ever let herself do it again. But why had she done it? Was she becoming just like her mother? At the end of this week, a letter came for her, a large red seal the first thing she noticed of it. The letters "AG" were imprinted deep in the wax, would that be Alison Gale, Aunty?

"We regret to inform you", she read nervously, "one Alison Gale, your Aunt, has passed on. You have been mentioned in her will, to come into possession of her estate and the sum of Seven-Thousand Five Hundred Euros" This was a shock, considering how Flannel and Aunty hadn't talked in ten years. There was a catch however, as the document then stated "after taking residence in the home for a total of two years."

ASDSDasdfasdfasdfasdfasdf Brain fart.

Moral is she's realized that she could go either way, would like to find out about this parasite, is meek and consistently "troubled" with life. sweatdrop sweatdrop sweatdrop

Task 3.5

Well, Flannel's power would basically be a transformation of herself into form more fit for fighting, in a sense. The parasite has made major changes to her body as it integrates itself, such as a detachable jaw, sharper, bigger teeth, hands that shift into "claws", and various other things. When not in such a form, she'd benefit from increased functions. Strength, speed, dexterity and other advantages an animal would typically have over a human. Not to a point of them being necessarily super on their own, but above average surely.

The weak side to this is that she doesn't control it herself. The powers act on their own agenda, and while she remains in control of her body as they activate, the remote being only activates them if it wants to. Basically, Flannel would have to kill and "feed" to appease the remote being, as it wants only for the parasite inside of her to grow, something which Flannel sees as the worst possible option, but there are times where such powers are needed. Just as well, should she not feed for a very long time, she risks being overcome by a "hunger", such renders her below human in ability, sluggish and stupid, as such.

Simply put

Main Power: A bestial form of monstrous power and appearance. Such pertains to blades forming along the body, bones "extending", a carapace surfacing, laws detaching, etc.
Secondary Power: Naturally increased ability to do most things. Strength, agility, and similar traits.

Weakness: She doesn't control the powers on her own accord, as the parasite and it's remote master have their own agendas. Even then, as power is gained by feeding on biomass, the parasite gains more influence on Flannel as she attempts to harness it. Should she go very long without feeding, the parasite will start sapping off of her, leaving Flannel sluggish and dumb.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 21, 2009 3:00 pm

Blah, I essentially combined 3 and 4, but I'll recap in more specific terms.

Well, based on her past, I'd guess that Flannel would, out of purposeful accord, be quiet, and distant. However, based on her chemical nature, it wouldn't be impossible to anger her, to the point of a tantrum, or "freak out". Since she would be trying to keep incognito, I can image a slight slump forewards, but nothing habit forming. Though keeping as quiet as possible, she would not refuse to talk. Again, Flannel would be attempting to fit in as much as possible. On the other hand, a generally traumatic past would lend to a lack of trust, a cynic mentality. This would lend to her being almost bitter in her affairs. But, still, she would try to keep as monotone as possible.

Then, for a character of such a theme as "change", there would be such possibility of things going "Down hill". Such a wreck deep down, corruption could be imminent... but why wouldn't it, then? What could Flannel take from the residents of Delmor that would keep her at least self loathing, rather than outwardly angry? Could someone pry in and try to help her? Would she "find" something? Would someone try to make a "cure"?

Blah, but that would be too simple. I guess I'll come up with that later.

Then, thinking back at what I've just wrote, how could I even bounce around whether or not she's constantly angry or constantly sad? A normal person would fluctuate. That would of course mean that she's simply a bit more "bothered" than most. Things would mean more, I suppose, and anything could serve to change her mood... however, I wouldn't bet on her being happy a lot regardless. :

Perhaps, there is a sort of "sheet". She wouldn't notice things, she'd be kind of detached when left to her own devices.... But, this lack of exposure would surely leave Flannel sensitive to anything directly aimed at her. Maybe, it would come to her as a shock, easily dominating her current mood.

Yes, hard to influence but easily influenced. With a mind of great distraction something serious and focused would "disturb" her, shock her into an unfamiliar situation.

Well, I guess that's that step. But, I supposed I should go over some "traits" of this. What it means, palpable information.

--

A deep (negative) focus would lend to a sort of self loathing, or at least a pessimistic view of one's self. Also, the fact that the parasite is changing her would definitely lend to the worried, angry and upset nature you'd see in someone with a very negative self image.

There would be a lack of trust, I suppose. A violent history and poor role models would leave her "skeptical" and disillusioned with what a normal individual sees as fine. Love would be "a collection of opinions for something based off of what said thing has done for one's benefit; a simple fondness, based off of what one has taken from something, from said thing. Happiness could be "a state of ignorance of what is wrong". Feeling sad could be "pointless self pity that normally would be direct at the rest of the herd so one can feel validated, pointless".

Such disbelief in concepts, and self loathing would make a very anxious and quick to upset person. Stress would be an unbelievably strong factor in Flannel's life.

Now, such denial of feeling would spread out to denial of other things. Money would be put away, Flannel feeling grievous that anything she buys she will regret.... Fear of rejection would stem from fear of having to feel sad for one's self.

Now, how would this translate to social interaction? I mean, what social interaction? With all the doubt and loathing, Flannel would barely manage to mingle.... As such, would she cling to those who punch a hole through her isolation, or try to force them out? Well, I can't have a character who's simply bad at everything, can I? I suppose when someone makes the trek to make contact, she would probably cling to them the same way she clings to things, hoping not to put herself in any regret.

As such, she'd be sort of purposefully quiet. When one does get through this, nature would make her quite opinionated. However, a general lack of social experience, and the parasite being as is, would leave her spurting out "stupid" things, much to her own regret.

Self loathing, doubting and fearing, she wouldn't act frivolously, but surely she wouldn't be productive to counter this.

Hm. I think this is enough. :

Task 5

Now, this is a tricky part. I can't have my character be as... bad as she is, without something to redeem her. However easy it would be to say she's good looking here, practically ever female character in the rp is like that. '

Would it be at all likely that Flannel be attractive, the way she lives? Or, would the parasite have somehow rearranged her looks to make her more likely to lure in victims. Is that way too cliched?

Hm. You'd think that maybe she would kind of be a mix of both? The parasite having made more efficient the human body, in it's primal needs at least, Flannel would be change to be "pretty" where ever she is. However, not feeling that as fair, or perhaps too shy, she tries to down play this. Would this then serve as a reason why Flannel is able to get into tough situations?

Then... would this be too cliched?

I mean, blah.

Let me sort this out before I continue.

Edit: Well, I've decided against traditional "pretty", I have a more "strange" concept in mind. Flannel will have a strange "lean" towards being androgynous. While not an inhuman monster in her standard form, Flannel will have a boxy figure, with a general lack of sexual traits. Where as one would be able to tell she's female, it would be easier to just not talk at all. This androgyny would not lay in the middle ground of sexes, either, leading into a whole other direction. I'll elaborate on this tomorrow.

Is this taking unusually long? Heh....

Edit: Well, I'll explain what I mean. Or... rather just "put it down", as I'm not sure anybody has taken time to read allllllll this.

Firstly, I did say "leans to", but it is quite noticeable that Flannel is female, and biologically, she is, pretty much. And I did say, it would not be a "middle ground", so no, she does not have both sets of tools. D:

What I was saying is, she possesses various traits "inhuman" and unlike the textbook description of a mammal. That is, a more "aerodynamic" body than a "sexual" body. As in, breasts would be relatively nonexistent, to a large bone you'd find in an avian, to support some invisible "wingspan" (which gives me an idea). While the body would not be entirely boxy like a man, it would be a strangely more "supported", lending to athletic ability above other functions. Kind of like the way animals' legs would have them on all fours constantly, Flannel's body would have her on her "tippy toes" as much as possible. What this would mean is, the front section of the foot has a distinctive extra length and sturdiness, where as the heel is less notable. The purpose of this is a more efficient platform for "moving fast".

As a side effect of this foot structure, or even as a normal person's side effect to wearing heels, Flannel's rear is "out" and her back arched. Where as this normally would accentuate the whole "T&A" image, Flannel has little there to speak of or to emphasize.

Besides this major alteration to a form, Flannel also has a generally 'thick' body. But not thick as someone overweight would have it (or is that offensive now, being replaced by something like curvy?) and more so "built" without muscle tone, or any notable excess fat to cover any muscle tone.

Along this, there are peculiar "slits" on certain parts of her body. Wrists, shoulder blades, heels, and in places you'd find major joints. From the more trademark aspects of her nature slide forth. Like little blades, or plates in some cases, altered bone mass leads to useful and always "on hand" tools. What these are deep down is a sort of "spare bit". With the biomass that Flannel consumes, not all of it is put to use on her stange body type. Certain "wild card" abilities develop.

To elaborate, her body can more or less "shift", to something monsterous or to something a little more human; plates in the face can "flip back" and form a gaping maw to quicker feed; arms can become rigid like a normal person's, and shorten to an appropriate length or become very VERY dexterous with multiple "optional" joints that roll any way and slide partly out of the normal joints of the arm to extend long enough for her fists to drag along the ground, if she so wishes and the remote being does so allow.

If this sounds rather "made up" or just "vague", I do have a rough sketch of each key figure in Flannel's figure out in front of me which I could attempt to translate to an online medium, if need be.

Then, there is the question of what she ACTUALLY looks like, past bits about her silhouette.

A generally reclusive nature lends to unkempt dirty blond hair. Such hair however, does not flow long as Flannel prefers to keep it make-shift short, with knives, or on good days, plates from her hand. Such practices do tend to leave her short (but not scalp hugging, sort of mid-neck length) hair with a messy fringe look (and often split ends). In vast contrast to her monstrous form is a helplessly pout-y face with an small up-turned nose. While not totally negatively charged, Flannel's pout reflects a timid awkwardness crossed with a bitter sense of regret and, well, bitterness.

Starch white skin with warm beige highlights on the more squeezable and fleshly areas of her skin brings forth an attractive but mute guise. Shrouded by fringes but framed by a round face lay her eye catching orange eyes (now, I understand SPESHUL EYES EQUULS MARY SUE, but I think the fact that she has to do a bunch of s**t to just not get pointed out in public and "grimdark past that serves as obstacle to overcome" makes up for it. Besides, they're pretty. heart )

Err, can't think of what I haven't covered, homework, etc. I'll look over this tomorrow.

Well, I typed out a lot of stuff only to accidentally close my browser. But now I have homework I should be doing. D:

Regrettably, more delays here.

Twice, the same problem. But this time my mother closed to browser after having to "quickly check her banking". I'm getting the feeling that I should type out lengthy and arduous texts in somewhere other than the browser.

For efficiency's sake, for my sake, I'll forsake the end of this, and substitute in some quick points for other's sake.

-6'4

-average recluse's white skin, but in places with more "padding" it takes on a more dark beige tone, in contrast to the usual pink hue people end up with.

-31, looks vaguely more youthful (not as some characters who live into the thousands and look 19 or 21 specifically for the legal sex age to NOT BE *****, as this is a vague "good for her age" type of thing, and not as a human youth looks, just none spoils such as wrinkles or flab, a parasite would not want that of a host)

-dirty blond hair that hangs just low enough to frame the face; split ends and messy

-Vibrant orange eyes with inky black pupils and a mute upturned nose

-long thick arms and muscled hands

-no breasts, but rather a "plate" made up of a few ribs, almost as one found in avian species to support wing spans.

-neither toned nor possessing of any notable reserves of fat. Flannel has a "thick" form, of flattened and smooth features

-extra segment of leg length where the knee would be singularly that forms an S shape of her legs - can be "folded" away to make Flannel slightly more human in stature and composure, but does not disappear, rather "ignored" by her body

-rabbit like feet; uses tippy toes but not heel; extended length haunches and "raised" heel. Creates a heels without the support look. No shoes - Boney matter creates a guise for the feet to look vaguely human and "shoed".

-slits all over body for Variable biomass to manifest as plates / sheets or various tools.

-generally slouchy posture. LAage coats and fashionably wide brimmed hats (rarely but possibly veils)

Oh yes, the best part!

-Plates in the face flip back to reveal a larger, gaping maw, in theory used to consume faster.

Don't leave me hanging! I have been taking the time to read this, just so you know. You're on such a roll, however, that I haven't had anything to add.

Note: Almost finished. A question, though. How much would Flannel be able to do without crossing some line and being "too mature"?

Name: Flannel Gale
AKA: Flannel has not put any thought into this, is not necessarily a costume hero or villain and is relatively new to Delmor. May be changed later depending on how she evolves and is seen.
Current Age: 31
Appearance:
Flannel is of peculiar form. While not decisively inhuman, traits both inhuman and unlike a mammal characterize her. What this means is that unlike a human, who has a "sexual" body based on ease of procreation and gender oriented roles like nurturing or providing, Flannel's body leans heavily towards a very different purpose.

She stands 6'5, towering over most. Her body is an odd sort of thick; whilst not being toned Flannel does not have noticeable reserves of fat. In layman's terms, she appears as if there is an extra layer of mass over herself of strange purpose and build, and there essentially is, but both the biography and powers step will elaborate as to why.

Crowning Flannel is a short dirty-blond shag. Her hair more or less frames her face and nothing more, stopping short just partway down her long neck. Pictured inside of such a venue is an almost delicate face; soft and pale skin serves as a canvas for a cute upturned nose, full pouty lips and hazy
orange eyes. While one would assume that these are some kind of strange contact lens, they are very much authentic. The vibrant orange swirls around inky black pupils, in such a way as to remind one studied in nature of a poisonous salamander's hopeful guise. Her gaze seems distant, however, and her pout often scowls.

In much contrast to such a face stands her body. Each mutation standing as a warning to any lucky, or perhaps unlucky onlooker who manages to spy Flannel without a large, thick and full coat or wrapping cloak that shrouds her monstrosity. As to her nonsexual nature, Flannel has no breasts, but instead a plate of sorts- akin to avian creatures, to support some invisible wingspan. Her arms are long, lanky and have an unbelievable diameter to outline their size. At the end of each arm is a strong muscled hand, quite large in size. Each hand is roughly large enough to hold a grown man's skull in each with a closed grasp. Lower down one would note her odd leg structure; where the knee would be normally, there are two joints with an extra length of leg in between them. This length runs like a normal calf, albeit much more strengthened. The new calf rebends back in a forwards direction. This altered leg structure runs in a sort of "S" shape, but composed of 3 straight lines in such a way. Finally, Flannel's feet are composed in a way opposite of what is typical; her haunches are long, extended and strengthened to support her, while her heel is "raised" and not used at all. Such a from serves to make Flannel more... bestial, athletic and foreign to others eyes rather than... social.

Along her form, Flannel has strange slits in her flesh. The function of these are to allow various bits of biomass to slide out. The biomass can take any form, from a long needle to a wide and thick plate, as Flannel has much of it in here body. Regardless of what form it takes, this mass is usually a brown scab like color and is almost bone like, being harder and brittle rather than soft and flexible. Should the mass take a form longer than a few inches, a muscle like tendon of salmon color will connect pieces, allowing for moving functions. Some slits have biomass storage specially designated for them, causing the forms that are taken to be more specific (such as knife or dish like forms in the hands, shoe resembling masses in the feet or spindly "arms" from the back), but where there is not a reserve the formations will be more crude, as shingle like plates that serve more so to cover from vague impacts that protrude in areas like the chest, midarms and legs that could be rough spikes if necessary. Were there not to be a slit in somewhere needing one, mass can be forced through the flesh.

As well as the changes to shape and visible function, Flannel also has parts that can change slightly. Her jaw for instance flips "open" to reveal a greater sized mouth with a row of sharp teeth. (At the moment, this is the only notable one, however.)

Costume: Flannel does not have a costume, as she generally doesn't want to access her powers▬ what with them not responding unless she does what she thinks unjust. She sometimes feels as if sometimes trying to appear normal is dressing up.
Primary Power: Flannel's abilities are to change her form, as if some kind of spontaneous evolution. Inside of her is a sentient being that takes the biotic mass she consumes and uses it to "grow" with great efficiency. As outlined in the appearance section, little slits on her body serve as passages for a hard, scab like substance that can take on many forms. Should it be necessary to have lengthy forms of such, a salmon colored substance akin to a tendon will attach multiple pieces and allow for dexterity of such. Besides this major feature, Flannel also changes with the amounts of mass she consumes, if the mass is of the right genetic structure to be utilized by the parasite. The mass needed by the parasite is generally what ever is closest to it's host's make up, so the transition to biomass is simple.

Flannel has "tubes" in her body that allow ease of passage for biomass. Space left for this is part of what makes her so "thick".
Secondary Power(s): Thus far, major changes have already occurred in Flannel's body from mass consumed (much to her regret). She has lost a focus on a sexually functional form in favor of a predatory form. Changes to size, appearance, muscle and bone structures have made her more efficient when exerting force, allowing for greater speed, strength and areobic ability.
Weakness: Flannel does not have "control" over any of her powers besides the secondary abilities, "side effects" of mutation. Just as well, the more mass she consumes the more the parasite hard wires itself to important functions in Flannel's body. When the parasite actually decides to focus on devoting biomass to do so, it will be able to slowly take control of the host. Flannel also tends to "hunger", as a joint combination of signals sent by the parasite and her body that has been changed to run on meat, quite possibly human meat, demand food.

Completely besides use of her powers, Flannel is visually inhuman. Most would have a subconscious disgust to her current form, as she is quite "scary". As such, Flannel cannot draw attention onto this out of fear that the public will react badly or that some scientist will go out of his way to "study" her parasite, via vivisection or some other particularly undesirable operation.
Personality: Flannel is a tumbler of various emotions. The littlest of things can dominate how she feels and acts. Generally, Flannel's emotions tend to congeal into one stagnant combination of disappointment and (as hard as this is to say with a straight face) angst, but not the angst that motivates someone to do something, rather the angst that drives someone to squirm. Regardless, from her own seclusion and lack of social interaction, Flannels tends to take things as much more than they are. Would a man she thinks handsome look twice, Flannel would likely find herself filled with a overwhelming glee, followed by a a pessimistic and dry "but, I'm a monster", followed by a empty cynicism. Would someone find out about her and not immediately burst into one type of emotion or another and run off fleeing or with intentions to get a shotgun, Flannel would probably burst out crying and begging for them not to tell any one, whilst feeling like s**t for having to drop so low. It is just the same when there is a lack of interaction, positive or negative, as she's prone to slipping into a depressive cycle of backwards logic leading to an increase in all sorts of emotion.
Biography:

Unsatisfactory. Working on it.

Goals/Motives: With a pessimistic world view, Flannel has trouble looking forwards, planning. Really, she's just looking for a way she can comfortably live, without being overtaken by the parasite.
Vices: Flannel doesn't eat healthy. She's almost entirely a carnivore. Just as well, Flannel isn't one for fun times on a sunny day, opting for activities past noon, like walking around the streets thinking about something poetic, then bashing herselve because it's cliched. It's easy for her to second guess, on herself and others.
Other: A lack of social experience lends to Flannel's
Has a persecution complex, an inferiority complex and a superiority complex, which is a lot more common than one would think.
Vorarepobic, ironically.

I did not realize it was mandatory for my hand to be held while making a character. But i suppose you want to make sure it is compatible with you're RP which is acceptable.

Task One: Finding a Character Idea

Well what i was going for is a spirit that has been sealed in the earthly plane. we'll call him a elemental for simplicity's sake. I was going to have the spirit posses a human being and manipulate the humans body so he was unrecognizable. Facial structure hair color and style etc thus creating himself a new identity.

I do not think it is just that, but the purpose is to raise the quality of characters in the guild. Think of it as a not so upfront way of saying "we don't want a little girl who has evil shadows that protect her so that literally nothing that approaches her survives". Also, it does serve to make very well fleshed out characters. Should I not have done these steps my character would be an angry young adult who has ubertoughguy machoman but not confident status with a GRIMDARK past, as if a certain game with chainsaws and hordes of aliens had had the most influence over his conception. sweatdrop
